A great little gem! I just moved here from Hawaii, and was pleasantly surprised by the great rolls. The shumai was a different take than I am used to, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Las Vegas and black pearl rolls! Don't let the location fool you, and try this place! You won't regret it. read more

Holy portion sizes on the lunch specials bat\man!!!! Only been here for lunch, I like it and the prices are reasonable and the service is accommodating. I'm picky on my sushi and this place has it fresh! Only suggestion is the sushi could be cut a little larger to compete with a different sushi place in Arvada. My family loves this place! We've tried several in the area, and this one is clean, fresh, and prices are comparable to other sushi places...We love the rolls with mango in them. I always get seaweed salad, and their portion on it is great comparable to others I only order rolls and sashimi, so I can't really say on the rest of the entrees....And the Strawberry Mochi balls...We also found the Mochi balls at the new HMart on 92nd/Sheridan....at a little better price. Had two rolls and agedashi tofu. Tofu was a little lacking, just fried and a side of sauce, real agedashi is almost a full on soup with fish flake, scallions, nori flakes etc and broth. Still it was tasty. Had two rolls and they were good. Service was a little on the semi poor side, meaning not very welcoming or friendly, just down to biz. Very nice, but almost too small feeling of an atmosphere. Boyfriend ordered steak teriyaki. He complained steak flavorless and tough.I tried it, he was right. I ordered 9 piece sashimi. Was so disappointed when the sashimi came on top of rice noodles instead of rice. Fish was fresh and delicious. Waitress not so good. The second we sat down she asked if we were ready to order. Don't let the location fool you! Who would have thought you could find amazing sushi in a strip mall? But amazing it is! I was always the one in a group dining out that could take or leave sushi. This place has made me a convert! My two fav rolls are the volcano and chili roll. Small location but the wait usually isn't too bad. Five starts for Denver Sushi places. Four stars if you are comparing more "sushi-centric" cities. Having lived in Hawaii, L.A. and Las Vegas I have learned what I do and do not like about a sushi restaurant. Simplicity is the key. Well made rice, good quality sashimi, non douche atmosphere (i.e. Non stop vibe music with poor lighting). Most sushi places in denver are over priced, atmosphere focused restaurants that make crazy contraption sushi rolls to hide their lack of quality fish. Sushi Aji is the opposite. Quality fish and rice and really good at the basics that make sushi great. The Fatty tuna and yellow tail sashimi were really good. This is the fourth time my wife and I have been and the experience has been good every time. read more

I was not super impressed with this place. Let me start with the positives- the service was fantastic. Five stars for that. The ambience- meh. Small place, nothing special about it. A little challenging to find and get to. The food- again, meh. Our rolls were good, but nothing to write home about. The prices seemed amazing until I saw the size of our rolls. They were TINY. I would have needed two for a full meal. Our edamame appetizer- you guessed it. Meh. The most disappointing part for me was that they advertised macaroons on their dessert menu, which are my favorite. I couldn't believe a sushi place would have macaroons! I ordered them, and 6 came on a plate. They were terrible. Obviously previously frozen as they were still cold in the middle and tasted like freezer burn. I couldn't even tell what flavor they were because freezer burn was all I could taste. Worst part was that for 6 macaroons, they charged $8!!! I paid less than that for the amazingly delicious ones made for my wedding by a pastry chef! So $4.50 for my roll and $8 for crappy cookies. I feel no need to return here. read more

Edible most of the time, but if you want good sushi this is not the place. The fish is not top grade and they don't know how to cook the rice. I've been back several times hoping they'll figure it out, but always disappointed. Sushi rice should be lite and just sticky enough to hold together long enough to eat it. Nasty slimy sushi, rolls were "fishy" tasting, and slow service when there's literally no one else in there. There's a reason why it's that slow in there. Tried to tell the waitress the rolls were weird tasting (I've been before it was not great but not this bad) and she said well you ordered it. Okay lol. read more

Having come from a Pacific Rim state, we're very familiar with traditional Japanese restaurants and food. When we moved here thirteen years ago, we had a hard time finding a restaurant that even came close to the Japanese food and service we were used to. Fortunately, this has slowly changed over the years. Sushi Aji is a nice little restaurant that will do in a pinch when you have a yen (no pun intended) for Japanese cuisine. HOWEVER, we have issues with the following: using the word "crab" on the menu when they really mean "Krab" as in imitation crab meat (deceptive!)... white breast meat (too dry and bland) instead of thigh meat, traditionally used for chicken teriyaki...not bothering to thaw out their desserts before serving them (cheesecake, cake, etc). We'll continue to dine there, but it would be nice if they would address those few things. read more

Delicious bento box for lunch! Reasonably priced and very tasty. Included main, miso soup, salad with a very yummy ginger dressing, gyoza, rice and CA roll.
