My friends and I agree that this is Riverdale, not A sushi hotspot desitation and we would rather sacrifice a point on the physical construction /proper sushi technique than go somewhere else that has beautiful perfectly rolled sushi- with less fresh fish or rolls that are more rice than filling. Also- the sushi IS good! I usually go for salmon, tuna and a sweet potato tempura roll The lunch specials (monday-saturday until 3:15 pm) are a really good deal and come with pretty good miso soup and a fresh side salad. I am appreciative that they run a little later in the day as well. Aoyu has always been very reasonable abt modifications- there is no upcharge for brown rice for lunch bento- easy to request veggie instead of pork gyoza, and I really don't like crab- imitation or otherwise- so they always let me sub a cucumber avocado roll instead. Oh, and it's BYOB currently (maybe a liquor license is forthcoming; not sure). But I'd be glad if it stayed BYOB. We've now visited 3x (twice dining in and once take out), and everything was outstanding each time. We've tried the ramen (the chicken one and the pork one); both are large and super tasty. We've tried several apps, including the boneless ribs (nom!), wings (also nom!), edamame, and tuna tartare. You can't go wrong with any of these! We've also tried several rolls -- more traditional Japanese ones... but they also have mashup rolls that combine Japanese and Dominican ingredients. We haven't tried the mashup rolls yet yet but plan on it next time. Lastly, we've also tried the Chinese style dishes -- Chicken and Broccoli and Chicken Lo Mein. Both were good. And the egg roll with the Chicken and Broccoli was a nice surprise. The restaurant does A LOT of take out and delivery, so they can get backed up, but that's to be expected.
