I saw, from the reviews, that to come here without a reservation, you want to come right when they open. We saw a wave of people start lining up and congregating as we were parking. Luckily, we made it in the first wave of people seated. We were offered the choice to sit inside/outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the sake and the sake mule. Both were good! We also got 2 pieces of nigiri from Japan and it was heavenly! Other items that piqued our interest were the tuna firecracker roll, a salmon roll, and another tuna roll. Everything tasted delicious, although I was surprised by the asparagus in my rolls. I don't know that that is my favorite! We had a great experience and would love to come back.

Overall, I would put this very much on par with a place called Kazunori in LA. I heard that this restaurant has a sister restaurant called sushi Den that I heard was really good and that I will be trying out next time I'm in town. Please come try out Tamaki done if you're ever in the area the food will not disappoint. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. Of the high end sushi restaurants in CO, Temaki Den is probably my fave.

However, with so many other good spots now, especially with Kawa Ni close by with a better izakaya hang out spot, it's not as attractive of an option, especially given the higher price. It really is not a restaurant that specializes in any particular food, but is certainly a crowd pleaser if you have people that want different things.

'Twas a frigid and bone-chilling night on Tennyson, when my girlfriend and I stumbled into Sushi Bay for a respite from Jack Frost's mighty nips and some succor for our grumbling stomachs. Both were met--and then some--by the wonderful folks at Sushi Bay. A standard miso soup started off the meal, which helped to warm our frozen faces and did cheer us up with many a delicious slurp. Afterwards, we headed straight for Sushi Central, not passing Go, not collecting $200 (even though I could really use a new tennis racket string tensioner). The Naruto Roll, Belly Roll, and Winter Roll (how fitting) were soon brought our way, in that order. I appreciated the flavors, as the rolls we ordered were diverse, each having its perks: The Naruto roll was wrapped in cucumber (a favorite of mine), the Belly Roll exuded delicious simplicity (you had no trouble tasting the fish with this one), and the Winter Roll was dripping (figuratively speaking) with deep-fried goodness (but fried food really does taste awesome). My main gripe, like many a griper before me, and like many a griper hereafter, is the price. Sure, this was tasty and fun, and sure it saved my fingers from the icy grip of Winter, but I rarely believe that the bill from a sushi dinner is justified by the atmosphere and experience of sushi ordering/sushi marveling/sushi eating. However, the sushi experience, as it were, was enjoyable, and the staff was extra friendly and accommodating. I'll most likely be back, but I doubt I'll be ordering from the specialty rolls, as they are a solid 50% more expensive than the traditional rolls--of which the Winter was one, and a darn tasty one at that. read more

This has been one of the best-tasting sushi places I've ever been to however the service we had was horrible. I came in with a large group with about 10 people. We all ordered all you can eat and we ordered a lot of food. As it was all you can eat and we were all hungry. The chefs and waiter all stared at us waiting for us to finish all the plates cause they were in doubt we would finish them. As our waiter grabbed our plates she complained we hadn't eaten the jalapeño and we would have to pay for all the plates. We were in disbelief and argued it was getting spicy so we hadn't finished it. After going back and forth she finally said we can pay all you can eat price. If you go here just be careful about ordering all you can eat as they get really testy if you actually order all you really can eat. read more

I really enjoyed Sushi Bay. If you like Sushi Shiso in Edgewater you're bound to enjoy this place as it's exactly the same. Food Network on the tele, clean, music is a bit better at this one and the sushi is pretty tasty. The rolls we ordered were okay, but the sushi was delicious. The white tuna tasted buttery and melted in my mouth. Their happy hour is amazing as well. $1 sushi, discounted rolls ($4-$5), and you won't find oysters as opposed to Shiso. This is by far one of the best sushi restaurants in the Denver metro area. Always fresh and delicious. They offer a great happy hour menu. The atmosphere is nice. Staff is always attentive. Prices are good for what you get. They offer an all you can eat sushi menu on Sunday's which is a great deal for groups of 3 or more. Really great quality every time I've ordered. I always get the Sushi & Sashimi Lunch Special. They pick the freshest fish for the nigiri and sashimi and give you substantial cuts. Spicy Tuna Roll included in the combo has a little crunch and their sushi rice is always perfect. Plus, they deliver for a very reasonable fee!
