    Sushi and sashimi lunch
    Lindsey K.

My favorite neighborhood sushi place. Usually come here for hh or lunch specials which are a great deal. Staff are always efficient and the spot is convenient on Tennyson. Grab a table by the street to people watch or at the sushi bar to chef watch.

Cheap sushi, it's good for the low prices but definitely isn't gourmet. Restaurant was totally empty when I stopped here for lunch after a walk through the Highlands. Service was a little slow. We all had the lunch special with 3 sushi rolls, soup, and salad. I was not a fan of the salad dressing though. Definitely works in a pinch! I wouldn't go out of my way to come back by any means.

We had the lunch special today and it was a great deal. $15 for LOTS of food, including the sushi, salad, and soup. The servers are always so nice here, and the experience is always great. This is a cute little place located on the very fun Tennyson Street. Good stop to make if in the area. I only give it a 4 because I think they could up the atmosphere a little and perhaps have a few more specials during the week, but it is like a 4.4 and rounding down. Definitely recommend and see you there.

Cucumber Roll, nigiri, portobello and eggplant sushi.

Stopped in for a quick lunch break on Monday while finishing up moving. They have lunch specials that looked interesting but there weren't a lot of veggie rolls that looked appealing because I can't digest avocado and veggie sushi options are less common. I got a cucumber roll and some of the veggie sushi the nigri, mushroom and eggplant. I would love to see more options but these were pretty good and made a nice light lunch for a hot day. The service was very good and the food was prepared well. Veggies are less expensive than fish but just these four small items made with simple ingredients were $20. However the lunch specials did seem to be a better value cost wise. I would probably choose from those next time.

Possibly one of the worst sushis I've ever tasted which is a real shame because the service and presentation was wonderful. But despite a good exterior impression, turns out it really is the inside that counts and even though salmon sashimi is my favorite, turns out they only had smoked salmon that you can buy from Costco for your bagel except it was a trillion times saltier than I expected. I have nothing against smoked salmon, but I expect sushi salmon when I go to a sushi restaurant. Ever had a mega salty Philadelphia roll? This is the place to go for that. I've never been so disappointed. The rest of the rolls were either flavorless or unmemorable.

Great place to grab economical sushi. It's not high quality. Service is meh. For the price and portion you get it serves its place Grabbed a crunchy dinner set ($20). Which came with more than enough food. Soup, salad and 20 pieces of sushi. We also grabbed two other rolls black dragon and something else. Again flavors are meh but it gets the job done! I would not say this is the freshest sushi. You're land locked in Colorado what else do you expect ? Lower your expectations and you'll be happy you stopped by

I love this place! It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's so cozy inside! The Spicy Crispy Tuna is to die for! Give this place a shot for sure! They can be hit or miss but that's like any place.

Do not order take out from here. It's my birthday and their menu looked so good! Around 7:30pm I ordered $70 of takeout and when the driver arrived to pick it up they stated they made it already and the food was picked up earlier. This is false. They were just trying to close early tonight it seems.

I saw, from the reviews, that to come here without a reservation, you want to come right when they open. We saw a wave of people start lining up and congregating as we were parking. Luckily, we made it in the first wave of people seated. We were offered the choice to sit inside/outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the sake and the sake mule. Both were good! We also got 2 pieces of nigiri from Japan and it was heavenly! Other items that piqued our interest were the tuna firecracker roll, a salmon roll, and another tuna roll. Everything tasted delicious, although I was surprised by the asparagus in my rolls. I don't know that that is my favorite! We had a great experience and would love to come back.

I was in Denver to visit my friend, and I was telling her how I really liked hand rolls and so she recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We got here during happy hour when at first opened and immediately there was already a line luckily we were early so we did get seated a few minutes after arriving, and we were served relatively quickly. We got to sit at the bar and we ordered off of the happy hour menu, which was great because it had more than enough of what I wanted to try. We got several hand rolls and several of their other appetizers, but my favorite has to be their hand rolls. Their seaweed was so crispy and rolled so nicely. The rice was flavorful and their fish was so fresh. I felt like their prices were also pretty reasonable and I was more than content after having that dinner. Overall, I would put this very much on par with a place called Kazunori in LA. I heard that this restaurant has a sister restaurant called sushi Den that I heard was really good and that I will be trying out next time I'm in town. Please come try out Tamaki done if you're ever in the area the food will not disappoint. The restaurant is big with plenty indoor seating, but it will get packed and for good reasons because the food is so good!

We thought we made a mistake choosing sushi bar instead of a table because we'll have back issues. Surprisingly, the chairs had a mini back so you could lean back occasionally. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. Of the high end sushi restaurants in CO, Temaki Den is probably my fave.

Uchi is my favorite Japanese Restaurant in Denver. While I am not a sashimi lover, I prefer my food warm, my daughter is open to try anything that's food delish! This trip I invited her Denver "mama" and her BF. The food was just as delicious! But the best part was watching the 2 new guests eat every bite, savor each dish and watch them: chopsticks in hand, delivery to their palate, and their expressions OMG..."this is so delicious! It's their first Uchi visit. My favorite dish is the Wagyu, grilled on a "hot rock." In fact, all the dishes I chose were perfect! I even ordered the bone marrow although it was a little salty for me, it was still tasty (not big on too much salt). It is a pricey restaurant, however, if you want quality /excellent food one should expect to pay for what it's worth. The service and our server was excellent: uniquely friendly, patient and I just love it when it's totally a genuine smile on their faces! The best part about Uchi - they deliver a complimentary dish for keeping you waiting (as if...). We felt they were quick to deliver and yes you may have a "wait" but this place gets really busy! Recommend making a reservation ahead of time. I have not been on the rooftop, but I understand they grow their herbs up there! Take a chance when you're in Denver for high end Japanese food. That said, the happy hour menu is a good deal for a hang out, especially in large group, and the brunch menu is pretty nice. In my opinion, Mizu was probably one of the better Japanese options back in the day. However, with so many other good spots now, especially with Kawa Ni close by with a better izakaya hang out spot, it's not as attractive of an option, especially given the higher price. It really is not a restaurant that specializes in any particular food, but is certainly a crowd pleaser if you have people that want different things.
