We did the delivery service through yelp. The food arrived 30 minutes early!!! The food was as good as the delivery service.

Ordered 90 dollars worth of sushi, and I didn't eat two of the rice beds the tuna came on. They then had the audacity to actually charge me 2 extra dollars for each rice bed I did not eat! They actually charged me twice for two pieces of sushi. Then said that's the way they do it because if people don't eat the rice they won't get full and will eat all the fish.... but isn't that a good thing? The more you order the more business they get...???.. never again will I give my business to these swindlers. Go to sushi hai better sushi, service, and cheaper. read more

The sushi was pretty good (would recommend the spicy salmon, probably not the Philadelphia unless you like a ton of cream cheese) but the dried calamari wasn't that great and was overpriced for the few pieces you get. So I ordered delivery, an hour has passed. I called them to ask about my order. They claim they never got it. So I call Yelp orders and they confirm that the sushi bay did confirm the order. Yelp called me back saying that sushi bay said they delivered a half hour ago. So I go to the front door and the food is left on the porch. No doorbell ring, and no phone call. Then after that sushi bay calls me saying they never got the order again. I let them know that that impossible cause they just left it sitting in the front porch and i now have it! Although other Yelpers really seem to like this place, I have to disagree. My friends and I decided to go there for dinner on Friday night. We had to wait about 10 minutes, which was fine, but from the moment we went in there, the staff seemed frazzled. My friend checked on the table and it was as if they had forgot about us based on their reaction. I don't think they have a hostess on duty, so I assume the wait staff handles the seating. Bad Idea. Too much responsibility when you are busy and inevitably something will be forgotten or miscommunicated. Anyway, once we were seated we were given water promptly and our orders were taken, but messed up TWICE. My friends don't like fish eggs and they were very adamant about NO fish eggs on the California Roll. The waitress repeated that information, so we know she heard. We also ordered 2 orders of the Unagi, but only had one order delivered. When the sushi arrived and the California Rolls had fish eggs on them, we politely pointed out that it was not how we ordered. Instead of taking responsibility for the mistake, the waitress said, "I guess I didn't hear you." Um...yeah, that's why you repeated the order to us. She reluctantly took it back and returned the sushi correctly. After we ate the sushi, we decided to order one more roll, which was a shrimp tempura roll. We had to wait about 20 minutes for that order to arrive, which is not only abnormal, but unacceptable. Tired of waiting, we asked what's up with our order? "Oh, it be worked on now. Thank you for patience." Whatever! Lastly, the bill arrives and it is incorrect. They charged us for two orders of Unagi, but we only got one Unagi order. I let the waitress know this information and she looks puzzled and tries to explain to me that we one order is 2 pieces of Unagi. I can count and I know that we had 2 PIECES of Unagi, not 2 orders, otherwise, we would have had 4 pieces of Unagi and no problem with the bill. She RELUCTANTLY credited my card with the $5.00 for the order. Anyway..... The sushi did taste fresh, but I've had better. I also ordered the Spicy Tuna and it was just OK. I respect that every restaurant has growing pains, but for a small place that was busy, but not slammed, the experience wasn't good. One final thought...it was HOT in the restaurant. Either they don't have A/C or it was not working. We sat near the thermostat and the temp read 87 degrees, not a comfortable environment. I'll continue to go to my other favorite sushi restaurants, Sushi Sasa and others. read more

Been here a number of times and it's typically been pretty good however I ordered takeout tonight and I must have caught them on the last day of the fish being usable because it was literally so fishy and pungent tasting and also like paper thin pieces of sashimi that I straight up threw $20 of sushi straight into the trash after taking a bite. I live nearby and therefore have been on numerous occasions since they first opened. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why I keep coming back. After this evening's visit, I won't. This is long and I apologize, but it has to be told in it's entirety. I took my teenage daughter for sushi tonight. We sat there for at least twenty minutes before our server came to the table. She didn't say hello, or good evening, or what can I get you to drink, she stood behind me and took our paper from the table announcing that she'd put the order in for us. As a second thought and not even standing facing our table, but with me turning my body to talk to her, she asked if we would like to order some drinks to go with it. I said yes and also that my daughter would like the calamari to start. She repeated it back to me, so I know she heard me. It was all very awkward. The sushi arrived shortly after, but no calamari. I would have mentioned it to the server, had she come back and checked on us. Nope. Fifteen minutes after finishing our sushi, sitting in front of dirty plates, a guy came over and started to fill the soy sauce bottle that was on our table, that was already half full. I can think of a better time to do something like that, but whatever. He then walked away, without taking our dishes. Weird. Then he came back to set another bottle on our table. Huh? So I mentioned to him that the calamari never came that we had ordered and my daughter would still like it. So he went away and then popped back over to tell us that it had been ordered for us. Dirty plates are still sitting there. About ten minutes later, our lady server came over and asked if we were ready for our check. I said no and told her about the calamari. She likes to speak to me from behind me, rather than at our table. Totally weird. Dirty plates still there. The calamari arrives. Dirty plates still there. No room for calamari, so I stack our plates, the sushi platter and the soy dishes and scoot them over. When my daughter has finished with her calamari, a different lady stops by and takes my stack of dirty plates. Whew! Finally. Nothing like staring at empty fish plates for thirty minutes. Keep in mind, I have not complained, I have been pleasant and nice. We pay our bill and start to walk out. There are three people standing at the desk. Not one person says goodbye or thank you. Nada. I know good service and I know good food. I'd rather not pay $60 for bad service and okay sushi. I'll be going elsewhere. read more

Been a loyal customer since this place opened and they put me on a blocked delivery list due to their own misunderstanding. So now we always have to drive down there for our food. It's a joke. Been down there twice to talk to them about it but it's like talking to a wall. They took it to the wrong address, my right address is in their system so not sure why they insist on blaming me for the mix up. ‍so I'll continue writing reviews until they figure out how to improve their service. We love going here for happy hour on the weekdays from 3:00 to 6:00, and two of us can eat here with saki, beer, soup, salad, & rolls for only $35. It's not crowded during this time and we feel like we have enough space to ourselves. Service has always been great--friendly servers and food is out fast. read more

Had a great happy hour dinner date with my daughter on First Friday night 10/5/12. $1 to $1.75 a piece for large cuts of fresh fish on happy hour menu from 3-6pm inlcudes Snapper, Black Pepper Tuna, Striped Bass, Octopus, Shrimp, Crab. Spicy Crunch rolls were delicious and well presented. $2.50 for small hot sake on HH menu. The service was friendly and prompt. I will go back here to my new local sushi joint. I just love coming to this place because they have so many options for rolls. I always get one that has cream cheese and avocado. If I'm ever on death row that would be my last meal (that's how good it is). On Sundays they have an all you can eat deal for $30 which I have been meaning to do. Nothing like eating until you can't walk anymore right? I'm assuming it's a limited menu for that one. They also have a deal that's $15 for a bottle of wine. We looked up the wine and it sells for $6 which is kind of a bummer. Still though, $15 for a bottle of wine at a restaurant is good. We have been here 5 different times. 4 of which for their all you can eat. Fish quality is very impressive for the prices. Service is rough. Food was incredible, however the service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter did not check on us once and did not remember any of our orders. As well as asked us if we wanted our check ( during an all you can eat after one plate). We arrived around 5pm and sat for a good 40 minutes waiting for an order and left after still being hungry since no one would serve us. Hostess did not know which table was which either. This place is alright. Okinawa a few doors down is a bit fancier but more $. They have a standard sushi menu and the rolls were well described. I had some of their special rolls and the presentation matched the taste. Good, close, and inexpensive makes for a great sushi joint. I wasn't looking for "date night" sushi so this falls into casual dining for me. Sundays are all you can eat without making you feel like you got cheap, leftover fish. read more

Great little gem in the Highlands area. We've been in here a few times and the staff are always very friendly and the service is fast, but they are never really that busy. We've really enjoyed the quality of the food and drinks and they also seem to do a lot of take out business. The only draw back is they are closer to 38th than all the other places on Tennyson but they are close to Elitch Lanes! Definitely a great little neighborhood place for sushi. read more

I can only speak to Happy Hour prices and food. Great prices and roll options along with $1-$2 sushi pieces. They probably have the best sushi happy hour in the area. Some of the best sushi we've ever had. Started off with the chicken gyozas which were delicious. Then had some fried calamari which were shaped like onion rings. The calamari were sprinkled with some spicy seasoning and came with spicy mayonnaise for dipping, absolutely delicious! As we moved on to the spicy crunch tuna roll, spicy crunch California and spicy crunch shrimp, we never looked back....all rolls were fresh and good. To end things...we had the mochi ice cream which comes in a variety of flavors and the mango and strawberry was sooo goooood. Staff was attentive and pleasant, definitely going back soon! Confused by all the 4 and 5 star reviews - in a city with Domo, Sushi Den, and even a better place down the street (Okinawa), I'm amazed how anyone could think this place could be worth a second visit! We showed up for the AYCE Sunday. It was moderately busy, and it took us awhile to convince the staff to take our order. We then waited 25-30 minutes for a big ol' plate of meh sushi - it didn't come out in waves, no effort in presentation, etc. It was very much, "Hey, we're guessing you came here because you wanted a lot to eat - well, here it is. Whatever." We wanted to put in a second order, but there was a complete service meltdown - after 30 minutes, we gave up, got the bill, and left. The table next to us was having the same problem. Highlights include the kobe beef roll and double salmon - also spicy lobster roll was nice. The rest was just okay - your average suburban-mall sushi. However, with so many better options in the area, it's hard to justify this place even at the reduced AYCE price. read more

This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. The only good thing is the other couple we went with suggested it. We went on a Monday evening around 7:30 pm. Only a few tables. Took a long time to get a drink order and then they insisted that we order food first. It was scary as we watched our server look up how to make a martini. When told the martini was to be on the rocks she served it in a martini straight up glass filled with ice. Ordered gyoza and a dynamite. They cut the gyoza lengthwise, have never seen that done. Thought it was cheap of them to do that. We ordered the chef's special sushi for two. No explanation as to what the fish was. Two things looked like raw hamburger patties, and tasted bad. I do not think the sushi tasted fresh. We had a lot of people hovering over the table and one another, which only added to the unpleasant experience. read more

It may not be the best sushi you've ever had, but it's pretty darn good and the portions are generous. It's not flashy or trendy- and that's the way we like it. Comfortable size, a little divey and with a great staff. A few of our favorites that aren't that odd were missing from the menu, but things that are more unusual were here, tasty and fresh. Favorites? Everything we ordered from sushi, sashimi, traditional and special rolls all were tasty. Did into on the sashimi portions were generous? There are two sushi places that are only a few blocks apart. A newer, louder, trendier, pricier one and this one. We've been to both and Sushi Bay is a new favorite. read more

Went in for the all you can eat sushi with some buddies. It was posted on the website $27.95 bit it's now $29.95 per person. Some thing they should update on the website to let customers know. Also didn't know we would be charged for uneaten rice from the sushi. Me personally like sashimi, no rice with my fish. I was told unwound be charged an additional $1 for each sushi without the fish, again something that should be in the rules. Delivery sushi! Excellent delivery sushi. These guys have a solid menu and delivery is always pretty fast. Prices are very reasonable. You can get a lot of food for 2 people for $30 or $35. This place is not a 4 star sushi establishment, I grew up on an island and know what fish should taste like and the sushi here was ok at best. Service and ambiance were great but the food....questionable.
