We arrived close to sunset on a cool evening, yet the dining room was uncomfortably cold with air blowing directly on our backs. Staff can be seen to the side rubbing their upper arms trying to warm themselves. Patrons near us (tables really close) also expressed discontent with the chilly air and food. I asked a server if they could adjust the temperature twice. Finally, I got up and went to the counter and in broken English, the younger woman just shrugged and muttered that the AC was off, even though cold air was clearly still blowing--surely their HVAC system has a heater. After sitting there in a really cold dining room freezing and hearing other diners continue to complain, we decided to walk out without ordering. The cashier gave a completely scripted, insincere apology on our way out. It feels like they simply do not care about the dine-in experience or the tips customers leave anymore. I feel customers need to be more vocal and use their wallets as a method of approval. I also noticed a newly posted sign saying they now close between 3 and 4 pm for staff breaks, which seems to point to obvious staffing issues. There's way too many Sushi restaurants competing for business in the Highgate Metrotown area, this one has fallen off the rails.
