    Combo B

The sushi was fresh. That's what I recall about this place. It was the only real restaurant open in this complex at three in the afternoon. Parking was plentiful outside. I got the combo A with a California roll and various assorted sushi. My friend got this other combo with a BC roll and Dynamite roll. I can tell you now that the dynamite roll is huge! They stuffed that thing with a lot of fake crab meat and a dynamite roll. It was good. My California roll was fresh and just the right temperature. The miso soup was warm and tasty. I remember being able to taste the Salmon, I think it was smoked salmon in the BC roll. The salmon overpowered the rest of the BC roll and was very savory. The decor was simple and it was an inexpensive meal with both combos costing less than $10 each.

    Starry night roll, my favourite.

I like this place a lot. I love Japanese restaurants and luckily this one is near my work so I can come here on my breaks. The food is good. They have a good selection of makizushi, nigirizushi and temaki (cones) to choose from. The sushi tastes very fresh. I think their best quality, though, are the special rolls. This place is Korean-owned so they offer some interesting rolls. I've tried a few of the different types and I just love them. They are very creative and taste pretty great. I would definitely recommend trying one of the special rolls. My favourite is the starry night roll. The service is excellent. The two chefs that work here are fast and are very nice. I'm able to sit down, drink a couple nice cups of tea, order, and eat my lunch in the span of a break which is very efficient. Most people order takeout here, but I always dine in and have a good experience. The only problem you might run into is if you have a large number of requests. Sometimes, older customers ask for a wide assortment of special adjustments on their sushi and the language barrier definitely affects the communication. Other than that, they are super nice and accommodating. This place is a hidden gem. They have very creative rolls, friendly staff and good food. Check it out for sure!

She then left to let us peruse the menu. We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

The staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, and I've never felt pressured to hurry through a meal or give up the table. I took my parents there yesterday and they both ordered the chicken bento box. I was actually surprised by how much food they received. With restaurant prices being what they are these days, I thought it was very reasonably priced for the amount of food they were served, and they both really enjoyed their meals. I ordered a few different rolls, and every one of them was fresh and delicious. Another thing I appreciate about Sushi On is how clean and well cared for the restaurant is. We arrived just before opening and had to wait until the exact opening time before they let us in. Through the window, though, I could see the staff still busy cleaning and getting everything ready. I didn't mind waiting at all--in fact, I appreciated seeing that they weren't going to open the doors until everything was just right. Fresh food, generous portions, reasonable prices and genuinely friendly service. There's a reason Sushi On remains one of my favourites.

I really like their teishoku (set meal) options! I got a combo set that comes with both chirashi don and udon, plus a small side salad and three pieces of tempura for $27.95. The sashimi was super fresh, and even the salad greens were crisp with zero bad leaves. The rice in the chirashi don was delicious, it's sprinkled with a layer of furikake which makes it so easy to eat. The fish slices were a bit thin, but since you get 5 or 6 different kinds plus some fish roe, I can't complain. The presentation of the whole chirashi don was adorable, complete with a tiny edible (?) flower on top! The interior is super comfortable and feels spacious, even though seating is a bit limited. They were doing great business for lunch, literally packed the entire time! This was my first visit, but I definitely wouldn't mind stopping by again if I'm in the area to try their other dishes. Recommended!

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. We still enjoyed it but For the same price, we would prefer the sushi set. We ordered the bigger party platter, a bunch of tempura shrimp, specialty rolls, all almost $200 & it was Delicious & totally hit the spot! It's a tiny but cozy sushi spot with maybe 4-5 tables at the end of a tiny section of maybe 3 shops, in a residential area. Our order was ready when we got there and I don't know they even were able to make all the food for our order! We're from California and I've never seen a sushi roll with sweet potato in it. It wasn't my favorite but it was interesting and food for vegans, I guess. It was part of the big party platter. The wait staff were super nice and Japanese from their accents, which I prefer getting Japanese food from Japanese shop owners and workers. They threw in complimentary edamame. We were both very full in the end and barely able to finish our food. The volcano roll was topped with a very generous mountain of torched scallop in the center under all the tempura bits. The Salmon Tataki Roll was torched and sprinkled with delicious crunchy bits on top that made the texture a more enjoyable experience. I would definitely come back to try different items or order from them in the future.

I made reservations about 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, one of the hostesses opened the door for us, and asked us to wait in a very ornate waiting area. We only waited a couple of minutes before another hostess seated us at the main seating area. The space is very dark, and only lit with candles while the rest of the diners trickled in. During that time they take drink orders, which is limited to sake, wine, beer and a few non-alcoholic drinks. Of note, they don't provide a drink menu, so we were a little surprised by the cost - the yuzu sake and the plum wine were $30 each. My non-alcoholic drink was $12, but a fair size. The theatrical portion started a few minutes later than the official start time - closer to 6pm. The shades lifted, the lights turned on, and the chefs introduced themselves. And from that moment on, they immediately went to work preparing our meal. They operate like clockwork to show the ingredients whole to the diners, and then preparing them, and serving them. Soon as the one dish was completed by all the diners, the next round came shortly after. Over 20+ dishes, there was very little wait time in between each. Each time a dish was served, a hostess was there to describe the dish and provided tips on how best to eat it. The food was overall was very good. I thought a few items were very average, most of them were very good, and a select few were truly outstanding. Most of the ingredients are imported from Japan, so I would imagine that it's part of the reason it's so expensive. This is definitely a splurge meal. I think half the diners at our sitting was celebrating a birthday. On the most part, the food is very good, watching the chefs at work is part of the entertainment, and the service is excellent. It's not some place I could afford to go to often, but glad to do it at least this one time.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.
