THere are a lot of things to love about this spot. The food is not one of them, at least not the night we went. It starts out really neat. You are ushered back through a curtain into a speakeasy style omekase that seats 14. You're taken to your spot at the bar and greeted with a drink menu. Chef already in place. I grabbed an Yuzu honey bee, which is made with Maker's Mark, honey syrup, yuzu, and pink peppercorn. As they are using a non-rye bourbon (Makers is 70% corn, 16% red winter wheat, and 14% malted barley), the peppercorn adds a bite of a bite you expect with a good rye. Thumbs up. The preparation, interaction and the atmosphere are all top notch. I can't say the same for the food. I am sure the cuts were high end, but many of the items tasted old, giving it a taste that was not much better than supermarket sushi on some of the bites. The artistry was top notch, but the fish was off. I had great engagement with the chef, who is orginally from South America. Andy, who I have known for a long time from Black Dynasty, came in for the next round (we only required 1 chef, as there were only 4 people doing the experience). I give a full thumbs up on the atmosphere and experience. If the sushi had rung the same bell, this could have easily been a 5 star. I imagine this is not the normal experience one has here as I am seeing a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews of the spot. Not sure if it was a slow weekend and they did not sell enough and figured they had one more day or something else, but I was thankful I did not add on and stuck with the special only. As they are now running the $55 special Sunday through Thursday, I have a feeling they either are not hitting with the tourist crowd or others have been in the same boat. It is a shame, as the experience is excellent.

Such a fun omakase experience! The ambiance of this spot is upscale but relaxed. There was plenty of seating to grab a drink and hang out before being sat for dinner, and the bartender/server were very attentive. My partner and I arrived early, and we ordered a couple of cocktails from the bar. I ordered the Lost in Tokyo which was delicious, but I thought it was a little odd that it was served over ice for a drink with a coconut milk base. It watered down the cocktail too quickly. My partner got the Can't be Tamed, and it was the perfect spicy marg. Once we were sat the courses were incredible. The flavors were complimentary of each other in every bite, and there was not a single course I didn't like! The best bites were probably the fatty tuna and the surf-n-turf. The chefs were fun and chatty and kept the upbeat vibes going. I also thought the sake toast was a fun addition. This meal was paced perfectly, and I'd definitely come again when they are running another special.

Sushi by Bou has a nice speakeasy vibe. The omakase experience is a must do. Everything was delicious. David and Aden are great chefs. They were friendly and fun. Great way to end our last night in Nashville.

Overall, a mostly pleasant experience with Sushi by Bou. I dined with my partner on a Wednesday evening. It was a rather slow day for the restaurant, with only 4 people (including the two of us) at the omakase counter. First, the space is decorated beautifully. Its decor is an Art Deco theme, which gives off sleek, classy, and upscale speakeasy vibes. You enter first into a bar area with plush table seating, cocktail tables, and a small bar. This gave us a nice space to sit and relax while we waited for the Omakase (which is in another room). It was my first time at Omakase, and a fun experience. The chefs were chatty, and it was fun to watch as they prepared each item. We opted for the 12-course, which I had learned about via Instagram, along with a coupon code for a mid-week discount on the experience. My favorite was the chopped tuna that had a vibrant undertone of wasabi, the fatty tuna, which is always delicious, and the eel. We were finished in just under an hour, with a full and happy belly. My main reason for giving only three stars (as opposed to four or five) was what felt like an overall communication lapse between the team members. First, when we arrived, the greeter mentioned the bar menu multiple times that we could order from, but we didn't actually get to talk to the bartender to place a drink order until we were already into our third course. And we had to ASK to order something since no one had taken our drink order. This was strange since there were only 4 of us at the bar. Next, the team didn't seem aware of the promo. I followed all the instructions, adding the promo to our reservation, but it never made it onto the bill. We paid, no issue (the discount wasn't our main reason for going), but it still showcased a communication gap across the restaurant team. Overall, I liked the experience, but it could have been more cohesive from start to finish. Needs to smooth out the steps of service between arriving and leaving the establishment.

I've been eying Sushi by Bou for yeaaaars! (Since their OG spot in NYC) although I haven't been to NYC in a long while, I'm so so glad I was able to try it in Nashville! This was located in the Dreams hotel. We were guided to the entrance by a host right at the entrance of Dreams. Upon arrival, the vibes were dark, sexy, and modern. You wait in a bar area before being seated at the omakase table behind the curtain. We were able to snag a reservation pretty last minute for Sunday and they're currently running a promo for their 12 course omakase for $55 using the fall promo code "fall55" for reservations Sunday-Thursday! (We did this on Oct 26 and unsure how long this promo will last) The NIGIRI WAS EXCELLENT! Especially for this price point. I LOVED every single course, from the melt in your mouth toro, to the giant fat jumbo scallop, to the fresh uni topped Australian Wagyu it was so so good! The chef did have to open a new pack while making our nigiri and I will say my bf said his was bitter and not that good- so he may have gotten a piece from the older pack. I would 100% do this again. I was tempted to do another one back to back for a 24 course omakase LOL as it's cheaper than getting their bougie omakase with the upgraded nigiri.

An amazing personalized experience with flavors for days! We went around 7:30 on a Thursday and had the whole place to ourselves. Daniel was the chef and amazingly knowledgeable about each dish and walked us through each bite down to the spices on each. I've never experienced something like it with 12 unique dishes each individually crafted with specially selected ingredients to create the perfect bite. The most uncommon bite were the sea urchins! They are apparently a delicacy and loved my many.. My favorite had to have been the lean tuna. We did not get drinks, but the bar tender was very attentive and hospitable throughout the night as well. The vibes were cozy and intimate. Definitely should book for a unique experience downtown!

Loved my experience at sushi by bou. I did the 13-course option and it was great. I ended up adding 2 more bites at the end, but that's because I wanted another bite of my favorites, not because I was still hungry. I've tried the other omakase options in nashville, and I am rating this one as number one for all-around best value. The sushi was fresh and the courses were all noticeably different in flavor and therefore unique. When we first started, I was worried that it would go by too quickly because some of the courses ended up being finished at the same time and got plated together, but it ended up balancing out in the end. The sake options were good (beginner sake drinker though so keep that in mind). I also really enjoyed my pre-dinner cocktail. There is separate seating in the same area to have a cocktail before dinner so I would recommend getting there about 30m early to relax before going in. The chefs and the servers were all fun to chat with and it was encouraged to talk and have a good time during dinner. Bottom line: great quality for the price. I definitely recommend it for anyone but for sure the ones who are looking to try the omakase experience for the first time. I will definitely be back.

Finally got around to trying Sushi by Bou. For $55 an unbeatable omikase experience at the bottom of the dream hotel! The space is beautiful and furniture/aesthetic is cozy, dark and welcoming in the pre dinner lobby. Bartender/server throughout the course was fantastic and attentive. Chefs were very talkative and very polite, enjoyed a lot of chatter throughout the courses. If you're looking to try an omikase experience without breaking the bank or waiting the 6 weeks for Kase, I would definitely give it a try! Only downside for me was the wagyu roll had sea urchin on top which I was not a huge fan of, but that's personal preference. Not much else to say, experience was great for the price! (I will not be comparing to KasexNoko, because this is not KasexNoko.)

This attempt at a high end sushi experience chain crashes, loudly. The three sushi chefs are knowledgeable and engaging. The fish is all very fresh, everything except the Spotted Prawn is tasty. But, from the very loud music, with vulgarity (f-words), limited alcohol selection, nearly non-existent wine list, a 20 minute wait beyond the reservation, no validated valet parking, the behind the curtain sushi bar fails.

Sushi by Bou in Nashville, TN is a nicely curated space for that speakeasy esthetics. Our hostess was super friendly and welcoming. Seated us in the lounge and took our drink orders as soon as we were ready. Our table ordered 5 drinks, 4 of the drinks came out fairly quickly. But we waited a long while for the 5th. We noticed the bartender was rather distracted with the music and a regular seated at the bar. We had to ask for the 5th drink after realizing she was not going to make it. I ordered the old fashioned but couldn't tell because it tasted like juice, no essence of citrus oil on the glass, and the orange peel was just floating in a glass. The ice cube was just a large standard ice cube. It's not the speakeasy experience I'm used to. The hostess and bartender did bring a free round of sake for our group to make it up. Which I thought was very considerate. I've had really good sushi and omakase experience from Napa, Vegas, Japan, so I had set my expectations lower considering it was only $65 per person. Once inside the omakase area, behind a curtain after the bar, we realized that it was the same staff running both front and omakase experience. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I guess their energy is what keeps people coming back. The chef for omakase didn't explain much besides the name of the fish. At one point we did get that a piece of fish came from Japan (like all of Japan?) and a piece of scallop came from Hokkaido, Japan (he got better at regions) Other than those, sushi was serve and eat. Sushi was serviceable, not much better compared to any local sushi place in the Bay Area, CA. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to eat and drink at Sushi by Bou in Nashville. But if you do, the staff will make sure you have a great time.

My husband and I were excited to try another omakase spot, but overall, this experience was just okay. Parking: Options include street parking, a nearby garage, or valet ($15 for 2 hours). We chose valet, but it took 15 minutes to retrieve our car at the end, which was a bit frustrating. Timing: Our reservation started 20 minutes late, which set things off on the wrong foot. Experience: One thing we did appreciate was how the chefs prepped courses for everyone at the same time. This staggered approach helped them serve all 12 courses in under 60 minutes, which kept things moving smoothly. Service: Johnny and Edwin handled our side and were both very nice and attentive, which we appreciated. Food: Unfortunately, the courses themselves didn't stand out. The quality just didn't compare to what we've had at places like Kase by Noko. For the price and concept, we expected a bit more in terms of flavor and presentation.

Sushi by Bou is an Omakase restaurant in Nashville with exceptional service and a great product. There are many different omakase options in the city and this one has a very good price point of about $65. Although it is only 12 pieces, the value is one of the better ones. The vibe was intimate, the staff was friendly and they went above and beyond to cater to our dietary restrictions. I would definitely go back!

My first omakase experience and I loved jt! Food was delicious, fresh, and perfectly curated! Service was spectacular. Ambiance was intimate and serene! Great dinner date spot!

Some of the 12 course servings. Bottom right is the yuzu honey cocktail.

We started off with a round of champagne and a bottle of red wine for dinner. We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. I highly recommend trying this place out!

By the bar we got to see some of the dishes being made. Great date night spot. Limited parking. This is a tapas spot and our serve did a good job recommending how many dishes to get. The only reason Noko is not getting 5 stars is because the server said that they would time out the dishes for us, so it was best to place our entire order all at once. However, we got 3 dishes and then it took about 30 minutes for other two to come out. Maybe we were eating too fast but felt like we were waiting a while for our food. The food itself was absolutely delicious. There was nothing we ordered that I did not like. Some favorites include the burnt ends lettuce wraps and Korean chicken wings. The Sando, shrimp and tuna crispy rice was also spectacular. The tuna was so flavorful and refreshing on the tuna crispy rice. The sauce of the east side shrimp really makes the dish. I'm not a huge shrimp person but this was really good. This is a must go to spot in Nashville and would definitely want to come back.

The only shock was the tax rate which couldn't be explained by the waiter other than to say that's how they maintain the roads. On a bill of exactly $100, our taxes added $14.09 to the total. It's definitely not the restaurants' fault, but TN or Nashville specifically needs to address the 14.1% taxes on a restaurant bill. It's egregious, but again I can't fault the restaurant hence the 5 star review.

Kudos to the chef for handling my shellfish allergy with wonderful subsitutions. At $75, this is a steal. WIth extras, sake, and drinks, I ran over $200 for 1, but it was worth every minute. Once of the best restaurants in Nashville.

We FINALLY got the chance to snag a reservation here. Seriously, it's challenging. They only have…read morelike (14? 15?) seats and only do two servings a night. First, let me say I was nervous. I don't typically like sushi and sashimi even less. The texture of a raw fish concerned me. Hubby loves it though, so I wanted to give it a chance. I figured if I was going to try, it needed to be at a place that knew what they were doing. James our sushi chef, definitely knew what he was doing. The servings were one piece at a time, served at a comfortable pace. Each piece was a different sort of fish, or a piece of wagyu beef! I enjoyed myself. The flavors made up for my personal wariness of the textures. Each piece was filled with delicious flavors. We ended up super full and content, and happy with our time here. I highly recommend.
