Fun sushi spot. Very expansive menu. There's two menus: Chinese and Japanese which I was impressed with. There's so much to choose from. We sat at the sushi bar which gave a more casual vibe. There is a bar section with fun red lighting that gives a more nighttime going out vibe. Service was great and very attentive. We got the crab rangoons, Thai tai, red mango crunch, angry fish, and sweet mango rolls. The crab rangoons were pretty standard. Crispy, but the inside was a bit cold. The Thai tai was AMAZING. Would go back for this roll. The sweet chili sauce adds a great touch. The mango crunch roll was good, but a little sweet for me. I think there was some sauce that was sweet tasting. The salmon cuts the sweetness though and made for some good bites. The angry fish was my second favorite roll. It's a little spicy, but manageable. I loved the crispy onion on top and the tuna was fresh and yummy. The sweet mango missed the mark for me. The mango on top was super fresh, but I didn't love the sweet potato in the middle. Ok. So on a Friday night this place was DEAD. Quite literally most of the night we were alone with a bartender. That being said, our bartender was fabulous. Suggestions, talkative without intruding, just really great service all around. The food was great although we do wish the sashimi portions were not just 2 pieces per order. Happy to have a new sushi restaurant in Nashville that is actually good! Unfortunately it is decently pricey, but the fish is fresh and rolls are nicely executed. We had an assortment of rolls and dishes, and would probably get them all again. We started off with some appetizers: lemon calamari, karaage, and fried prawns. All were good but prawns were especially fun in a nice creamy sauce, but karaage was a little unexpected - kind of more a battered chicken nugget, rather than then crispy, craggly Japanese karaage I'm used to at ramen shops. It was still enjoyable but the weakest of the dishes. The appetizer portions were sufficient, but would have appreciated a little more. As for mains: - Angry Fish was one of our favorites with a topping of eel sauce and creamy sauce. Somewhat Americanized with the sauces but we still loved it - Flash Flood was also awesome - great amount of poke on top - Spicy Scallop was basic but had nice big chunks of scallops - Spicy Taste was actually quite hot and fun, a little too spicy for some of us but I liked. It - Red Mango Crunch was good with a generous amount of tempura crunch, mango was not overpowering - Cherry blossom tasted fresh and had a cute presentation - Tuna Tartar was good but a little too sweet for me - Has a few nigiris (hotate, amaebi, walu, ikura) which were all nice a fresh - loved that they served the amaebi (sweet shrimp) with the incredibly crispy fried shrimp heads Appreciated the good service as well! It's a beautiful restaurant, I bet it's even prettier at night. We went during lunch, it was empty so we sat in the bar area. We were hungry and it was our first time there, so we wanted to try a bit of everything. I will say the fish was fresh. Certain dishes we liked more than others. We were still hungry afterwards. They didn't have much selection of beer and liquor, hopefully that changes. The food was good. Would I go back again, maybe for a light bite. This was a good experience with top-notch service and really good Japanese food. I did go with my friend who works there (so I had the insight on what was good to order), but we literally ended up ordering half the menu. Our waiter was also super super sweet and friendly. Here's what we got: -Lemon Calamari - 9/10 - Absolutely delectable. Crispy, flavorful, delicious. The jalapeños added a perfect kick and the lemon a bright freshness, while the sauce itself was a perfect creamy touch. -Island Poki - 8.5/10 - This was like a classic seaweed salad (which I love) with fresh pieces of fish. Very fresh tasting and a light start to the meal. -Chicken Karaage - 4/10 - The chicken was grissely, tough, and flavorlessly breaded. Really did not enjoy. -Honey Wasabi Prawns - 7/10 - Not the boldest flavor, but the prawns melted in your mouth as you bit in so I did really enjoy that, and the breading wasn't overwhelming, it was just right. -Fresh Oysters - 8/10 - Super fresh and flavorful. The oysters are cold and fresh and topped with a perfect sauce. -A5 Wagyu Tataki - 11/10 - SO GOOD! You just can't not like Wagyu. It's rich and warm and smooth and melts in the mouth. The pieces are cut to the perfect thickness for a full bite. -Kanpachi Truffle - 10/10 - The fish itself was so fresh but the shining star that made this dish was the truffle oil. The rich flavor the oil gives pairs hand in hand with the freshness of the kanpachi, and it was one of my favorite appetizers. -Red Mango Crunch Roll 11/10 - This was my ABSOLUTE #1 dish of the night. Picture sweetness from the mango, fishiness from the spicy crab and a fresh salmon, creaminess and spice of the spicy mayo and eel sauce, all finished with a heaping mound of tempura crunch. As someone who LOVES sushi rolls that have lots of sauce and lots of texture contrast, this was PERFECTION. -Thai Tai Roll - 8/10 - I normally don't go for tempura rolls, but for some reason this one didn't feel too heavy, and I think the sweet chili sauce really carried a unique flavor that brought out the non-fried notes of the roll. -Bulgogi Ribeye - 7.5/10 - This was the only hot dish we got, and while it isn't traditional bulgogi, the meat was flavorful and umami, and we did really enjoy the warmth and comfort it brought to the meal. -Ichigo Box - 8.5/10 - I highly recommend this just because it forces you to try a bunch of different things, and it is also so SO gorgeous. It comes out in a beautiful compartmentalized box with a bunch of different, really interesting pieces of fish. You get uni, salmon, even baby octopi! There's also flaming salt in the middle which adds some pizazz. -Angry Fish Roll - 4/10 - So mushy. Just overwhelmingly mushy. The actual taste was good, but it needed anything else to mix up the texture. -Spicy Taste Roll - 9/10 - This roll was a lot dryer than the rest, but the minimal sauce didn't mean lack of flavor. The spicy tuna was top-notch, and this is a great roll for those who want something simpler but still good. -Eel Avocado Roll - 3/10 - Not only was this mushy, but it was boring in flavor. Obviously it isn't as interesting compared to the other rolls, but we really didn't think it was worth it. -Green Tea Ice Cream Sandwich - 7.5/10 - This is matcha ice cream in between two super thin waffles lined with dark chocolate. We did like the ice cream and the chocolate, but just wished there was more chocolate and that the waffles were crispier. They were a little soft which made the texture pretty one-dimensional. There are more mind-blowing Japanese restaurants in Nashville, but Ichigo Ichie has some really standout dishes, the food is really good, and I would definitely go again. read more

Disappointed. Do not order from the Chinese menu, the food is awful. Would not recommend at all. I was so excited to try the Sichuan boiled beef and spicy chicken, but unfortunately the flavor was not there. The meal fell flat as a whole and was definitely overpriced. The meats were incredibly thin and you could tell they tried to make up for it by putting a lot of garnishes, but it was unsuccessful. Only redeeming dish was the string beans. So good! We ventured here during the recent week of intense winter weather, and despite what seemed like limited staff, our experience was terrific and food was delicious. Mickey was our server, and she was attentive and made some great recommendations both for appetizers and for rolls. The honey wasabi prawns were a unique appetizer, gently fried with a great sauce. The gyoza were homemade in the best way. The red mango crunch roll was special -- would definitely order again. I wanted to hate this place. As a Japanese food snob, I'm always suspect when a hoity toity new sushi places opens up; they're so often overpriced and not at all worth it. Ichigo Ichie was a really pleasant surprise! My friend and I went at about 8:20, not leaving much time before their 9:00 close, so I appreciated the staff being kind and accommodating! We sat at the bar, which was large and comfortable. All the offerings were backlit with red light, which created a cozy atmosphere despite the sheer size of the space. I started with the brûléed banana old fashioned, and it was delightful--sweet but not cloying. We split the agedashi tofu, the signature The Titans roll (crab, asparagus, wagyu, kizami wasabi) and the Golden Salmon chef's special (mango, shiso, avocado, crab, salmon, tobiko). I'm typically a purist, so I also got one order of salmon nigiri to round things one. The quality of the ingredients in each dish was excellent and both the Golden Salmon and The Titans were absolutely delicious. I actually told the bartender that I was angry at how good it all was because I truly expected to be let down. And the agedashi tofu, which is one of my go-tos at any Japanese restaurant, was some of the best I've had in the US. I wouldn't hesitate to order any of these dishes again, so I think the challenge will be trying something new next time I go! We were really jazzed to try Ichigo Ichie; we are hard core sushi lovers. It's in a pretty convenient location with plenty of parking in the attached garage. They validated our ticket after dinner, so the parking was free; a major plus in Nashville. The decor is modern sushi; plenty of blonde wood and pleasantly curved fixtures. The first thing you notice is the noise level; this is easily one of the noisiest restaurants in town. No soft surfaces anywhere. We brought wine and the server gladly brought glasses for us. The star of the night was the nigiri. It was a little pricier than other places in town, but the fish was fresh and the fish to rice ratio was great. The maki were good, but not as good as the nigiri. The "specials" were kind of a bust for us; two of them (including the crab napoleon) were served in bowls that would have been good for sharing amongst the 6 of us if the food had been accompanied by more than two (seriously, two) wonton crisps for dipping into the chopped poke style fish. The hamachi ceviche was also a disappointment; slices of hamachi on a glass plate with some tomatoes and a bit of citrus dressing; it probably should have been called "hamachi sashimi with citrus". The thing that disappointed us the most was the pace of the meal. We ordered a LOT of food for the 6 of us, and I have to say it all arrived within a 5 minute window. It was definitely not conducive to an overall enjoyable dining experience. We didn't have a lot of contact with our main server; later, we found out that the resto includes a mandatory service fee in the check. I don't generally mind that; I want servers to earn a decent living, but I dislike it when the presence of a mandatory service fee actually diminishes the quality of the service. If I was in the area, and wanted some above average nigiri for a quick lunch, and didn't mind paying the premium, I might come back. For dinner? I don't think so. read more

The jail bird was good, but not my favorite I'd give it a 3.5/5. The lemon calamari was so good, but a small portion for $16 so in my opinion pretty over priced so for that a 4/5. The Wagyu fried rice was delicious definitely worth the price tag 5/5! The red mango crunch roll was one of the best rolls I've ever tried, the mango gave it a nice sweetness and the salmon was so fresh 6/5!! We were so lucky to find this place open on a snow day! I expected it to be just okay but was really surprised with how tasty and fresh the food was. Food: Dumplings - we started with veggie dumplings and they were really piping hot and flavorful! A great way to start a meal. Chicken karaage - the batter was excellent but the chicken wasn't as tender as I would have preferred. I'd probably skip this if I visited again. Wagyu fried rice - really great though the portion is a bit small. Without appetizers I probably would've left hungry. The wagyu was very tender and delicious. The rice was also tasty. Hot toddy - this was really great on such a cold night. It was hot and really delicious. This place is a bit pricy but we found value in the food especially since it was one of the few places open and we were grateful to have a delicious meal. Several cooked dishes, multiple sushi roll (maki) choices, negiri (sushi) and sashimi choices. The agedashi tofu is authentic and is the best in the city! The tamago is also perfectly done. The restaurant has a great happy hour with wonderful food and drinks. I have even had it delivered and it's always been reliable! Fully recommend eating at the restaurant if you can. It took us a little while to decide what we wanted but they were patient. The sushi was good. My only call out was that the rice was a little softer than what I usually expect in sushi. I think it may have been slightly over cooked. We had gotten this one roll I believe called the red dragon. The main star of that roll is the lobster. The presentation was very nice and they used all the pieces of the lobster in the dish. The drinks were also well made. The sake flight was really nice. The food was average sushi to me, I eat a LOT of sushi around the world and this just blended in, nothing I ate was very memorable. The sashimi plate was probably the most disappointing, not what I would have chosen to present as sashimi choices and some pieces were inedible.
