The name is a bit misleading: this restaurant has a wide variety of cooked dishes as well as sushi. It also has a number of Thai style and fusion dishes, not just Japanese. Overall the quality of the food is very good, and some of the dishes (like the chicken kara-age) are standouts. read more

AMAZING! Another Longwood hidden gem, discovered this one with my son. Rock shrimp was actual big pieces of shrimp and not just tons of tempura. Tuna roll and yellowtail rolls were perfect sizes and flavors. The pork gyozas had a prefect crisp to them and stuffed with pork. I am happy I have this place a try for lunch. As I entered here I immediately love the nostalgic decor. It was pretty homey. The staff was friendly and came over to take our drinks orders. The menu has a lot of items that I would love to try. This visit though I focused on the lunch menu. I ordered the two suhi rolls that came with a salad. I also ordered rhe spring rolls. My two rolls of choice were the California roll and the baked salmon roll. Both were fresh and tasted delicious. I enjoyed the eel sauce and the spicy mayo on the roll. Hidden gem!!! I just found out about this place a couple months back. Super small, about 8 tables or so plus a sushi bar top in the entire restaurant. You will find the owner there daily cooking and making sushi. Super cool! Some of the best edamame I have even had!! It was a spicy garlic. So yummy. Did the JB roll and the spicy tuna. We've been here quite a few times and last night my husband had a little date night and absolutely loved what we got! It's a very small spot, so service can take a little time when it's busy (we went on a Friday night), but making a reservation is a must -- we were seated right on time and it was perfect. I came here with three other people to try out this new-to-us restaurant. The space was smaller than expected with a few tables and a kitchen you can sort of see from most tables. The menu has a lot of variety of rolls, sashimi, and some ramen options. Our table shared a Philly roll and ma-se bite (pressed spicy tuna on rice). The sushi was delicious and felt like great quality. It is their specialty after all. A couple people got tonkotsu ramen with pork belly and enjoyed it. They said their broth was rich and tasty with nice noodles. I ordered the shoyu ramen which listed ground chicken but I was served sliced chicken breast. The broth wasn't salty like I expected and was instead on the sweeter side. I added chili oil to it which I think just made it into a spicy water instead. The chicken pieces were not something I want again. The texture was so strange and almost fatty feeling if that's possible. I would try something else next time. read more

The atmosphere is intimate but still posh and includes a sushi bar. Either at a table or the bar, you're in for a treat. The place is run by a husband/wife duo who are both delightful. They have an extensive menu with some pretty interesting items plus a decent happy hour menu. I tried the pork dumplings that came with a delicious curry sauce. I wanted just that to go! And we split the 9 piece nigiri (plus a few extra). Each piece was fresh and expertly paired with the right toppings to enhance the flavor even more; literally melted in my mouth. Wow. We really wanted to like this place. We came in with high, high hopes!! We ordered the Cucumber with Kimchi sauce, Miso Citrus Wings, TomKha Ramen and Spicy Mala Ramen. We enjoyed the apps. The cucumbers were crisp and refreshing. You couldn't even taste the kimchi nor was there any heat to it. The Miso Citrus Wings were packed with flavor and spice. The smell opens up your airway but this top didn't have heat. It was served very hot but not spicy at all. The TomKha Ramen was good the first few bites in, but then just like the black garlic Ramen, the taste became too rich and my stomach was not liking it. I also don't recommend adding chicken. I don't know what it was but for me, it made the flavor worse. It was odd because I love Tom Kha soup which is why I ventured to try this particular ramen. I will give it another shot but with no protein. My husband said the Spicy Mala Ramen was good but had an after taste due to the black peppercorn. That after taste kind of liked it for him. Service was really slow but so was the restaurant. It took awhile for our ramens to come out. We were completely done with our apps for at least 15 mins. We had to ask for water refills even though they had been sitting almost empty through half of our meal. And the food was a bit on the pricey side for what we got. Absolutely amazing! I visited Ma-Se Sushi Eatery on my birthday with some out-of-state guests, and we were blown away. It was so good that when we had another guest visit a week later, we had to take them there too! We've tried the Salt Edamame, KAOSOI Curry Ramen, Shoyu Ramen (Chicken), Spicy Garlic Edamame, and Chicken Kara-age -- every single dish was fantastic. That Spicy Garlic Edamame is unforgettable; I'll be dreaming about it until I can have it again! I ordered online and came by to pick it up seamlessly, the food took around 20 minutes after I ordering. The restaurant itself seems small, and has a casual atmosphere. I was very excited for the ramen, however I didn't like it very much. I ordered it spicy but it did not have any heat or hint of spice to it. It was just a bit lack luster for me. The sushi, however was absolutely delicious. The spicy tuna roll was good, the California roll is a classic, and the dragon roll was amazing. For the food, we ordered khao soi w/ wagyu, 2 specialty rolls (shibuya and surf & turf), sashimi. Khao soi was delicious, best ramen that I have ever had in orlando. The rolls were extremely disappointed, one of them comes with a strong smokiness flavor which made us couldn't taste anything else. Sashimi was okay. The waitress took the right order, but the chef read it wrong so we got a little mess up for the plate. With all of that, I don't think there is a chance for me to be back here. AMAZING!!!! went last week. Came back again this week. I've been eating sushi for years. But never had any raw. Before I end up in Japan snowboarding, I thought I should probably try to see if I can handle raw food. The idea of eating something uncooked. I searched around for a high end restaurant. I found 2, but they don't offer cooked options for my wife. I spent probably 30 minutes scanning through restaurants once again, even checking them out at the Florida department of health. This is the only 1 that popped out as a potential winner. It was easy to find info on Chef Po, I learned it was family owned and it already had high reviews. This place is perfect. They have an extensive menu of options for everyone. The staff is extremely friendly, the Ramen is fantastic, apps are great, the dragon roll was delicious, and all the raw food I ordered off the specialty menu blew my mind. We absolutely love Ma-Se!!!! It's so cute and cozy in there & it's really close to our house so it feels homey. I love that they have a little bit of everything on their menu- sushi, handrolls, ramen, & ricebowls. Some staples we always get are the Ma-Se bites (tuna crispy rice) & Curry potstickers. Both are absolutely delicious. I appreciate the tuna-to-rice ratio on the Ma-Se bites as I feel some places give too much rice and not enough tuna, but Ma-Se always gets it right!! For sushi we love the Samurai roll which has some torched yellowtail on top and it gives it a nice smokey flavor while still being super fresh. We also love the Surf & Turf roll with shrimp tempura and torched wagyu. Service is always super attentive. They are a smaller place and only have a handful of tables so be mindful of that when going during busy times like the weekends. The server we had was very attentive and constantly checked up on us. As for the speed of the food delivery, that was also very good. Ma-Se deserves attention and recognition for the sushi dining experience they have created and continue to evolve there. The entire vibe of the space is unique. It's youthful, energetic, electro-punk and artfully urban in style. It's not fancy, it's cool. And that's better. The food though, that's the star. Not only is this place surprisingly affordable, but it's also well deserving of the 5 stars here. From the 9 piece omakase that takes the basics like tuna, salmon and yellowtail to a whole new level of excellence, to the $6 happy hour salmon roll, to the creative large rolls with roasted garlic on top, you just can't go wrong. We got lucky enough to sit at the bar close to the chefs expertly preparing the sushi dishes. Severs were friendly, busy and attentive. This all before the food arrived. They have an decent happy hour menu. I didn't have a dish I didn't like. The prices match the amazing food. The dishes we tried were the Surf & Turf was filling and delicious. I'm not sure how long Ma-Se Sushi has been around but this is a great find in Longwood, FL. I'm glad I finally gave it a try, inspired by all the amazing reviews below. The restaurant is small but feels cozy. There's only a handful of tables plus the bar seating area. The walls are decorated with Asian inspired art, pretty cool posters. The environment was casual and the noise level was perfect. Not too loud. The food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! The specialty rolls we ordered were delicious, the blend of flavors was absolutely incredible. We had the Shibuya roll ( topped w/torched salmon on too), the Samurai roll ( topped w/torch yellowtail), the Ma-Se roll and Ginza. All were 100% delicious. I like the extra added flavor when the fish on top is torched. There's more items besides sushi including noodles, wings and rice dishes. The host and our server were attentive and helped us navigate the menu as it was our first time visiting. There's also a Happy Hour from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. I believe. I can be nit picky when it comes to cleanliness and I just thought it needed a lil more TLC, of course could of been just that day. For the roll I got the shrimp tempura and spicy tuna roll. I wasn't to in love with the type of rice but for my compliment the ginger was fresh and a nice highlight on the roll. Again just want to reiterate I am picky in general and detail.
