    Mazesoba and Shoyu Ramen
    Vivian Y.

Mentaiko mazesoba - a limited time mazesoba and if you like a slight creamy base with mentaiko/semi spicy cod roe, then you will like this. I would recommend asking for it less salty so you can appreciate the flavors more while eating, as it does get rich and heavy from the butter/kewpie mayo. The server was really nice and had offered a bit of rice to eat with the leftover sauce and it was almost like eating a risotto. Definitely making sure I come back a few times while its here!

This is easily my favorite ramen spot, and I've been to Japan. Everything here tastes really fresh and high quality, and it feels very authentic. My favorites are the shoyu ramen, the kids ramen (honestly the perfect portion), and the tuna mayo onigiri. My go-to order is usually the kids ramen with a tuna mayo onigiri, and it's always so satisfying. The pork chashu is super soft and tender, the broth has so much flavor, and the noodles are always cooked just right. And definitely don't skip the egg--it's so good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is really peaceful, and the space itself is cute and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff is always very friendly and eager to please, which makes the whole experience even better. It is one of my go to spots, I seriously cannot recommend enough.

Broth was flavorful without any oiliness to it and ramen had the perfect bite however the pork belly had an off putting "boar taint" taste. I could not eat the meat. Service was quick & [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance is casual with view of the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The appetizers were satisfying.

Ordered pickup, first time trying. We got spicy miso ( pretty sure that's what it was called) ramen and shoyu. As well as the chicken kaarage. The ramen was good but not my favorite. We arrived right at the pickup time but my ramen was Soo cold. My friends was hot. I think the shoyu would've been better if it were hot. The chicken app was delicious though. Super crispy and the sauce taste homemade. I would go back and try them again if I were dining in.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Ramen Takagi is a ramen bar that's clean and modern, yet simplistic in design. It's a small restaurant with several tables and open kitchen counter you can view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was reasonable even though it wasn't busy. The server was nice. There's a variety of Japanese drinks you can order with your meal. We ordered the spicy miso ramen, black garlic tonkatsu ramen, and the fried karaage chicken. I've been to the restaurant at least a dozen times in the past five years and it's always been a good spot for ramen. Lately, I've noticed the change in the quality. I used to enjoy all the flavorful spices and richness of the broth, but this last time I felt it lacked the same robust taste. Perhaps there was a change in recipe or cooking method. At one time the ramen could be comparable to Domu or Jinya's elevated versions. I have been to a lot of fabulous ramen bars across the US, and this one use to be exceptional in past years. However, I want to emphasize that for this area of town it is still considered a good option for someone craving ramen. What I enjoyed most was the fried chicken karaage. It was still crunchy and had nice spices and a creamy dipping sauce. There's a small parking lot and many food options in the same plaza.

This was a great spot to grab dinner with some friends. The menu is straight forward and they are well honed in on what they do. You might notice a picture of the Water with ice, I included it because the taste of a restaurant water is very important in FL, and their water is great, no tap or sulfuric taste. That tells me they care about all aspects of the meal. We had the karaage which I would say is a must try we also had the dumplings and onigiri, all great starters. We had the Spicy miso, tantan with no pork, and the dumpling ramen. Our friend had the broth less tantan with noodles and he thoroughly enjoy it. Their broth has a richness to it that makes it very satisfying and they ground pork they add to it makes the broth more flavorful as you work your way through it. They are also not stingy with the toppings which are very fresh. The place was busy so we had to wait to sit but it was worth the wait! I also appreciated that they did not hurry us up even though they were busy and the staff was just lovely and knowledgeable about their menu items. If you are a ramen lover you will enjoy this place, this cold weather is also the perfect time for it. ごちそうさまでした

Tonkotsu Ramen with added spicy paste

This is hands down the best ramen in Orlando. While this ramen shop is lesser known compared to other ramen restaurants in the area, I think it surpasses other shops in both quality, quantity, and taste. My go to is the tonkatsu. The pork belly is so yummy I could rave on and on about it but take my word for it. They give you so much broth and meat that it has become customary to also get an additional side of noodles to go with my leftovers and it's like a second meal. My boyfriend loves the spicy miso. While it's spicy (as the name implies), the servers allow you to add the spicy paste on the side to customize to your spice desire. Both broths are incredible and no matter which ramen you order you won't be disappointed. I also am a big fan of their karaage. It is always so fresh and perfectly fried. The fried part of the chicken is flavored to perfection and the side sauce is delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only downside to this restaurant is it is smaller in size and can fill up quick, but given it is a mom and pop shop, it's worth the wait and to support local businesses is always a plus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is always fast. Each time I go I get so surprised with how quick they bring food out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the open concept of the kitchen. You can peak right in when sitting at the counter and watch them cook your food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love you ramen takagi!

Ramen is easy to make, but Takagi puts in a ton of unique creamy flavored goodness. Eggs are soaked in soy sauce that adds another layer of Flavor. The pork is thinly sliced, tender and perfectly falls apart when using chop sticks. Loved the big wooden soup spoon to gathering a little bit of everything while using chopsticks and also taking a sip of the broth. Welcomed in with good instruction because it was busy. Waited outside for about 10 mins. Well worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Simple decor with pleasant colors, nice calm music able to carry conversation at your table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I'm usually not in this area, so they've been on and off my radar for a while now. One of my co-workers recommended that I need to try them, so I finally got around to it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is nice. It's small and cozy. There are only about five tables and a bar area for seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waiter was nice. I ordered at the host podium and was sat immediately after. I got the salmon rice ball and the pickled plum rice ball. I've had both in Tokyo, so I have high hopes for these being amazing! They were good! The salmon had a nice and fresh grilled flavor. The plum was salty and sour, just like I remembered! Tasty rice balls! I'll have to come back to try the ramen!

I'm so happy I finally try Ramen Takagi. I have been on a hunt for good ramen in Central Florida ever since I came back from Japan. The first time I wanted to try Ramen Takagi I didn't check the time and they were almost closing so we didn't stay (I hate to be those parties that expect service five minutes before closing) and the second time there was a bad storm and we couldn't go as planned. Well, the third time is a charm and it was worth the wait. We ordered the spicy miso and tonkotsu ramen. Oh wow! They were phenomenal. The broth was so rich and flavorful and the egg too. We also ordered the gyozas as an appetizer and we loved them too. The portion was perfect and fulfilling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small with regular and counter seating. So it reminded me a little bit of Japan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will definitely be back here. It is delicious. Not at Japan level but it is a good option nearby.

We visited ramen takagi on a Saturday afternoon. I had been looking forward to trying another ramen place since I've struggled to find a new favorite since Sapporo closed and Seito stopped serving ramen. We started with the karaage which was super fresh. The mayo with it was delicious, and it was super crispy and delicious. I don't usually go for fried chicken, but they knocked it out of the park with this one. I got the tonkotsu ramen with corn and my companion got the signature garlic with extra egg and noodles. The tonkotsu broth was amazing. It was rich and flavorful, everything that I wanted. The noodle serving was plentiful. The pork melted in my mouth. The eggs were amazing. The corn had a slight char to it. Overall, I couldn't have been happier with this ramen. The signature garlic ramen was also very good. Everything that this place did, they did well. I'm very happy with the experience. The service was quick, and the food was tasty. I'll definitely be back for more.

Spicy tonkatsu ramen soup - 18.50
    Arun K.

My friends and I wanted to do ramen near their area, and they really enjoy this place. We arrived on a Wednesday and luckily got a seat immediately. I was able to wait and take some water before my friends arrived as well. We sat in a small table near the front. I went with the spicy tonkatsu ramen soup for 18.5. I was offered a slice level and chose hot. The soup came pretty quickly. The broth had a small amount of heat that I coughed a bit from swallowing a pepper, but not too hot to make me cry. It could have been a bit spicier for more flavor honestly. The noodles were nicely portioned and al dente. The pork was tender, but could have been more flavorful. The egg was nicely soft boiled. I did enjoy the scallions and mushrooms, but I held the pickled ginger as I only eat it with sushi. Overall, the soup was pretty filling and satisfactory. The service was quick and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is pretty small and casual. There weren't many tables, so there could be a wait if it gets crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It looks like alcohol isn't served and Japanese soda plus other drinks are available in a fridge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Music seemed to be easy listening vapor wave music, which is good for chillaxin and studying.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While I found Domu and Soupa Saiyan to have slightly better ramen, Ramen Takagi still provides a nice ramen soup in a very casual atmosphere. Great for UCF students to enjoy a good comfort food and for Oviedo residents as well.

Only like 3 diners were there when we arrived (it was mid afternoon), so lots of open seating. We were able to sit at the bar. Greeted right way. Will say they have a very extensive menu. Decent selection of sushi & other types of dishes. Our server was pleasant. We started with their daily deal which was Crispy Tuna and edamame as well. Came out pretty quickly after we ordered. The Crispy Tuna was served not as we expected. It was more rice cakes (pancake style shape if you will) not what we are accustomed to which generally is a Square Musubi Press. They were good, but would have preferred them the way we generally order it. Edamame was tasty, but hard to mess that up. Rolls: they are pretty small to be honest and squeezed so tightly (with not enough of outer rice) they sat up high and didn't take on the plump desirable shape. When a sushi roll (maki) is rolled and pressed incorrectly with a bamboo mat, the cylindrical shape gets squished and inevitably turns into a aesthetic effect that looks off, which in my opinion shows here. Plus, very thinly sliced rolls. 4 rolls we ordered: Naruto Roll, it was refreshing & liked the cucumber in place of the seaweed wrap. Beauty & Beast Roll, came together well with the black tobiko & masago. Waterfall Roll was good, but would have liked some more heat (heaver on the jalapeños) and finally the Black Pearl Roll which was decent with the black tobiko on top! Throughout of dining experience the sushi chefs were preparing other dishes on the menu to fill orders, but also pleasant & engaging as we watched them make our orders and those others too. Leo and Micah were friendly, not so much the only female employee. She gave off some negative vibes. Never said a word to us & acted like we were not even there! Believe her role may have been in the kitchen, but she was out on the floor (for most of our time there) talking to Leo primarily. Kitchen cleanliness is key and by looking thru the open space (to the backs of sushi chefs) she really needed to focus more of her attention there instead of projecting conversations out front to the busy staff. Meaning that sanitation and environmental hygiene is a mandatory practice that needs constant attention & customers may observe or question those things when not tending to the task. I'm addressing this in the most important and nicest way possible! Everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Not the best sushi restaurant we've been to, but definitely sufficed for our craving. Ended our meal with their fried ice cream which was delicious. Note- Do not believe they have any happy hour specials. No Kizami Wasabi available here. They feature a few lower costs options for lunch. Additionally, they have hibachi, teriyaki and ramen also!

Tucked into Winter Park, this spot has a more **intimate, laid-back vibe** compared to the bigger, busier sushi restaurants in the Orlando area -- and honestly, that's part of its charm. It's not overly flashy, but it feels comfortable, welcoming, and perfect for when you just want good sushi without the chaos. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels relaxed. It's a great place for a casual dinner, a low-key date night, or even a solo meal when you're craving something fresh and satisfying. Now let's get into the food -- because that's what keeps people coming back. The **sushi here is consistently fresh and well-prepared**. The fish tastes clean, the rice is seasoned just right, and everything is presented simply but nicely. It's one of those places where you can tell they focus on doing the basics really well. Their **roll selection** offers a nice balance of classic options and specialty rolls, so whether you're a traditional sushi lover or someone who likes a little creativity, there's something for you. Nothing feels overcomplicated -- just solid, flavorful rolls that hit the spot every time. If you're starting off, the **miso soup** is warm and comforting -- simple but exactly what you want. The staff are **friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming**, making the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. You never feel rushed, which adds to that relaxed dining experience. Definitely a hidden gem in Winter Park that's worth coming back to.

Sushi Kawa - Winter Park…read more Sushi Kawa is a small sushi spot tucked next to Crunch Fitness in Winter Park. The space itself is simple and cozy, with minimal décor and soft lights that create a quiet, relaxed environment. It feels like a very local neighborhood sushi place. From what I could see, there were only two chefs and one server running the place, but the staff was friendly and attentive. We started with miso soup, which unfortunately came out barely lukewarm -- a little disappointing since a hot bowl of miso is usually such a comforting start. The seaweed salad was your typical version you'd expect at most sushi spots. I was a bit sad to see they didn't offer cucumber salad, which is usually one of my favorites to pair with sushi. One appetizer that really stood out was the Tuna Crackers. This dish includes spicy tuna served on crispy fried shrimp chips topped with avocado slices, eel sauce, garlic sauce, masago, and scallions. It was surprisingly delicious with a great crunch and a nice mix of textures and flavors. The Hamachi carpaccio was decent, though it lacked the brightness and flavor I usually expect from this dish. Not bad, just not something I'd rush to order again. The Tuna Tataki, on the other hand, was excellent. The tuna was paired with ponzu sauce, sesame oil, scallions, and masago. Simple but very flavorful -- definitely one of the highlights of the meal. For sushi rolls, we tried the Dark Side of the Rainbow. It had a bit more kick than expected, almost like a surprise heat factor. Unfortunately, the fish didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked, and there was a bit too much sauce on top for my preference. The baked mussels were different from the typical version you see at many sushi restaurants. Instead of a creamy topping baked directly on the shell, they actually chopped and sautéed imitation crab and then placed it back on the shell. Interesting concept, but not quite what I was anticipating. As someone who almost always orders eel at sushi restaurants, I was looking forward to it here, but the eel sauce leaned a little too sweet for my taste. Overall, Sushi Kawa offers decent pricing for basic sushi quality. While the fish may not be the freshest of the fresh, it's still a solid neighborhood spot that's worth trying if you're in the area and looking for something casual and convenient.

I've been to this restaurant before for birthdays and anniversaries and have always enjoyed the…read morefood, which is why this experience was disappointing. When our table had food come out. Everyone received their starters, the blonde waitress asked if I wanted one as well. When I said yes, she responded with "bro, it's not going to be free," which made the interaction very awkward for everyone at the table since I never even asked for the starter in the first place and was just very unprofessional. Later, one of my friends received shrimp tempura that was translucent, raw, and slimy in the middle. When we politely mentioned it, both the waitress and host repeatedly questioned whether we were sure it was raw. At one point the waitress even asked something along the lines of "so do you want this for free or something?" which felt accusatory and uncomfortable. We're familiar with tempura/sushi dishes in general and understand that something can be fried on the outside but still undercooked inside. The repeated doubt came across as dismissive and a bit condescending. She also said she would "pray" for one of my friends which was a very strange and off-putting comment in that situation. It just felt like she was doubting us and in general it made us feel bad for even bringing it up in the first place. The item did end up being comped, which we appreciated, but that didn't change the interaction we had or the comments that were made. We weren't there trying to get free items, so the assumptions and tone from our server made the whole situation feel uncomfortable and strange. Overall, we did enjoy the food, but the service made the dinner uncomfortable and left us feeling judged rather than welcomed. Since I've had good experiences here in the past, I hope this feedback is taken constructively so future guests have a better experience.
