Sushi Sake was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Some dishes were really good and definitely stood out, while others were just okay. The biggest downside was the menu situation there were several items we were excited to try, only to find out they were either only available at the Miami location or no longer served. That kind of sucked because we definitely had our minds set on a few things, and I wish the menu was more current or location-specific. The waiter did a good job at providing alternatives. I have found another favorite sushi place to add to the rotation list. Evidently this place has been here for I think three years now and I've never even heard of it. Not sure how that's possible but I'm glad I have found it now. The decor is prettier than the photos indicate. Has a nice date night vibe. I came here to dine with one of my besties who is also a Yelp Elite on a Sunday night, after the holidays. So, it was slower than usual and it appeared to be date night for everybody in there except for us. I ordered a lychee sake cocktail that was nicely balanced and not too sweet. We ordered two sushi rolls to share and some shrimp shumai. The garlic sauce that came with the shumai was delicious, but personally I will skip this appetizer next time. I have never been to this restaurant and we decided to randomly stop by. We walked in and both host were short with us and seemed annoyed we interrupted their conversation. I have finally found my permanent sushi spot! We started with the edamame tossed in sweet Thai chili and garlic, and wow, it absolutely hit the spot. While I usually know exactly what I want, our waitress Jessica was a total gem, she guided my decisions on sauces and flavors, which made the experience so much better. I'm a huge fan of a good crab rangoon, but Sushi Sake has reinvented them in a way that is pure genius. Do yourself a favor and try them; just make sure to dip them in the yuzu sauce for a total flavor bomb on your tastebuds! The sushi itself was incredibly fresh and beautifully plated. And the drink... Jessica made a special mix of club soda, lime, passion fruit, and sake that was so phenomenal I had to have two. The whole place had such an amazing Saturday night vibe. This is becoming our go to date spot! This is definitely a great place to go for a casual dinner with people. Obviously, it's not casual like red Robin, but it's not a super formal or stuffy sushi restaurant. I have tried three rolls so far at this location : the salmon, skin roll, the Caliente roll, and the cucumber roll. I'm not a big raw fish person, so that explains my sushi selections. I love a cucumber roll and the one I got here was good. The Caliente roll was pretty good as well, though I wasn't crazy about the spring mix inside of it. Next time I go back, I'll probably ask them to make a few adjustments, but it was pretty good! The real star of the show is the vegetable fried rice. I visited last night with my best friend, around 730p and eat. My previous visit was a to go meal of their fried rice. I did order the fried rice again but this time it was the steak and lobster one for $28. The carrots were crunchy, the rice was well seasoned and it has plenty of steak and lobster pieces through. I had not eaten since noon that day so I ate 95% of it all and truly enjoyed it. My best friend ordered the volcano roll $18 and a bottle of soda $4. Ordered 3 rolls and 3 appetizers for a late night snack after landing at orlando airport. The rolls were a bit disappointing. The volcano roll was supposed to have baked seafood topping and ours was unbaked and cold. The shrimp tempura roll was okay. The Vanessa roll was very disappointing. The sriracha garlic edamame were very spicy. The veggie spring rolls and the egg drop soup were good. Although it's a bit overpriced for $9 for 3 spring rolls. Only positive is that they are open late and we were able to order food at 10:30 pm. We've been wanting to visit Sushi Sake for some time now and finally got to go for lunch. The experience was good overall. Our waitress, Bella, was amazing! She was nice and fast. The interior is a vibe and the aesthetic is nice. Plus, their chairs are super comfortable. For appetizers, we got the krab Rangoon croquettes and the tuna tartare on tostones. The appetizers were five stars! Absolutely gorgeous, flavorful, and a great portion size. The croquettes were warm with a beautiful crisp outside and gooey meaty inside. The flavor was rich and the sauce and cremas served with it really elevated the flavors. The tostones were perfection and the tartare was so bright and fresh. These two dishes were truly stunning. Perhaps the appetizers being so stellar got my expectations too high, but we were a little underwhelmed with our entrees. I got the spicy conch roll. We also had the chicken hibachi, angel roll, and stir fried noodles. The spicy conch roll was very plain and nothing too special. It was good, but the conch was a little chewy and the overall flavor was simple. The noodles had a flavor that I couldn't quite place and didn't love. The chicken hibachi was definitely the favorite. While everything was fine, it didn't wow me the way I hoped it would. There is a lot of good sushi in this area, so while my roll was perfectly fine, it wasn't a stand out compared to others. Additionally, there was only one waitress servicing the entire dining room during lunch, so service lagged a bit just because one person was doing everything. Sushi Sake is a good spot. I walked into this modern looking location for dinner at 7:10 on a Friday night.My food was tasty and seemed very fresh. I had hamachi nigiri, a spicy tuna roll and one with shrimp tempura, avocado, and some other tasty stuff. All were quite good. My server, Jessica, was quite efficient and kept me chatting when she stopped by during a buzzing late dinner crowd. She's a great asset to this place. Problem was, the gentlemen preparing the sushi seemed to be a bit overwhelmed and we're super slow. It took them more than 30 minutes to have my order ready to serve. .I could observe everything from my perch at the sushi bar. Nothing Jessica could do but chat me up and help me wait. She has that skill down pat. It shouldn't take me 90 minutes to have a solo sushi dinner. All said, I'd go back. My dinner was very good. read more

Popped in here because my sister actually mentioned that she has been wanting to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised with the revamp of the inside from the many iterations this place has undergone in recent years. It has a very lounge like energy and the staff was really nice from the moment we entered. They weren't overly busy so we were able to be seated right away and chose a seat by the window so we could see out. The menu has plenty of options and it's important to note that they do need to update the menu happy hour times as they have changed them, no big deal just something to know. They do have specials, so be sure to ask about what they may be when you arrive. My sister and I both ordered some rolls, and everything came out perfectly. It was super tasty, and we enjoyed it all. We did not notice that they had fun floor pillow seating in one of the areas, so we'll most definitely be giving that a try next time. I absolutely love this place! The location in Winter Park is awesome, and the decor is gorgeous with dimmed lights and neon signs giving it great vibes. I had the krabstick salad and the spicy tuna roll, and both were delicious. The ingredients were super fresh, and everything was perfectly prepared and seasoned. It's the first time I've been to a sushi spot where I asked for a riceless roll and got exactly what I wanted. So happy they could make that happen! Given the cool atmosphere and amazing food, I expected the prices to be way higher, but they were just right (though still on the higher end). The service was great too. This place is a very quaint, classy, and dimly lit restaurant. This was my first time here and the server was very knowledgeable and helpful in letting us know everything we needed to know from the dishes to the wine selection. We chose the Miami heat roll and spider roll with fried rice. Both rolls were good but the Miami Heat stole the show, it was a hot and tasty roll. I never had a roll that tastes quite like that. The fried rice is a regular side dish but it was sooo good! The rice was so soft and flavorful, I could've eaten it by itself and be happy with that. The wine was also very tasty and unique. Going to Sushi Sake on Easter Sunday is probably not the best idea. My family thought the sushi was fresh, and my son enjoyed the fried lobster/steak rice. The Hibachi salmon was undercooked. The overall take on this restaurant is price versus quality. The quality is certainly present, though the prices were higher than average. Unfortunately, because the restaurant was understaffed, our order came out slowly. I don't blame our server; she was doing her best and gave us Thai donuts as an apology. By the way, Thai donuts at Sushi Sake are the bomb! The donuts reminded me of beignets. The chocolate condensed milk dipping sauce was excellent. The restaurant was uncrowded on this Easter Sunday, and the music was kept at a low volume. I have no idea what the restaurant is like when it's busy. I've been craving sushi while pregnant (of course) and we decided to order takeout from Sushi Sake since they have lots of fully cooked/non-raw roll options available. I went with the Angel roll (shrimp tempura, krab salad, masago, cream cheese, topped with avocado, spicy mayo, eel sauce and crunchies. The roll had good textures and definitely scratched that sushi itch. My husband got the Kendall roll (tuna, hamachi, salmon, white fish, krabstick, masago, and avocado) which he really enjoyed. We also got an order of the chicken fried rice to share. One roll each doesn't usually satisfy us, but we were surprisingly full and had the rice leftover for the next day. Decided to take advantage of a random Sunday pop in to finally check out Sushi Sake. I have been eyeing it for a while now. The restaurant was mostly empty, it was around 2pm. We were seated immediately and our server started recommending options to try. We opted into the tuna tartare over tostones appetizer. It was definitely an interesting take. From the looks of it, the chef mixed a healthy portion of tuna, avocado, masago and spicy mayo together and served it on top of freshly cooked tostones. I've never mixed tostones flavors with tuna/spicy mayo so the bite was very different. Usually you are looking for a star of the dish and I felt like both the tostones and the tuna were fighting to be the center of attention. I can't commit to saying I liked it, but I also can't commit to saying I didn't like it. Simply because I like those items so much separately. I almost wonder how it would taste if the dish came deconstructed with spicy mayo on the side, fresh tuna and avocado in a bowl and tostones on the plate ready for you to create your own bite. I ordered the Rockstar Roll after reading the description. I had this crazy thought in my head that it could be like a breakfast sushi roll (think Nova Lox bagel). And indeed it reminded me of it. The sushi was incredibly fresh and the cream cheese very strong. The rolls are huge too. I'm not a fan of left over sushi so I struggled to finish my roll due to how filling it was. The menu is pretty extensive so a lot of room to try more things. I think my favorite aspect of the restaurant was how quiet and peaceful it was. Definitely worth checking out! read more

My friend; terminally Ill and disabled; had seriously hurt himself as he had fallen in the parking lot and given his conditions even just a few scrapes im the parking lot can be deadly. ​ Jessica and the staff in spite of us being there late - were extremely accommodating and they took really good care of me and my friend. They acknowledged that he was hurt and did everything they could help him by supplying tangible medical aid instead of trying to push us out of the restaurant because it was so late. Jessica is an excellent waitress and extremely kind and considerate. I've been waiting tables for over 12 years and shes as good as they come. Overall experience was top notch. Great new sushi addition to the Winter Park area. Fresh, flavorful and enjoyable. We decided on four rolls: rainbow roll, volcano roll, NFL roll, and Margarett roll. The volcano was our least favorite. We just felt that the topping was a little bland. We enjoyed the freshness of the rainbow roll and the variety of raw fish served on top. Perfect for salmon lovers like me. The Margarett roll had a very interesting spicy sauce on top which added a great zing to the overall flavors. It complimented the raw tuna perfectly. The NFL roll was our favorite. The eel inside added a bit of a sweetness that balanced perfectly with the creamy avocado on top. Service was pretty great. They had waiters coming by refilling water when it got too low, so we never had to ask and were constantly refreshed, which is something I value a lot. I have only two negatives. The restaurant itself, since it's so small, feels very cramped, with the tables all very close together. There's no intimacy and it gets a bit loud. Second, I thought it was a bit more expensive than other comparable sushi restaurants. Maybe you're partly paying for the "Winter Park" area vibe. Overall a good experience, and a restaurant I won't go out of my way to go to but will definitely eat at if I'm already in the area. read more

I was very close to giving this two stars, but I would like to think this was just an off night for our waiter and the establishment. I had made reservations for the tatami room (Japanese traditional seating on the floor). When I arrived, they said that there were already people in there. They sat me at a regular table and let me know when people left, we would be transferred. Our waiter came by and got our drink orders and soon thereafter we transferred to the table. It's definitely a cute area, but the space is not adequate. There isn't enough room for people to get in and out comfortably and easily. We placed our orders and eventually got our apps, but then a much longer time went by as we waited for our sushi rolls. Come to find out, our waiter forgot to put our orders in. I normally don't complain about these types of things, but he was very unprofessional every time he came around with his joking and trying to make light of the situation. The whole experience was a mess. Food came out and our order was partially wrong. The manager was definitely made aware of our experience. The food was decent. I stopped by the restaurant for lunch on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. The Miami-based establishment is still in their soft opening phase having just served their first customers on Monday, December 19, 2022. The restaurant took over the space formerly occupied by Boston Market. I had the opportunity to speak with this location's co-owner, Mayra, who recently moved to the area to oversee the business. I also was greeted by the friendly and informative server, Valentina, who assisted me throughout my meal. I opted for their Hibachi Scallop lunch which included a Miso Soup, White or Fried Rice and a Vegetable Medley. The miso soup was nicely balanced...and not at all salty. The scallops were the star of the show and cooked perfectly with an opaque center and golden brown on the outside. They were also firm but, buttery just the way they should be. I didn't have the opportunity to try any of their sushi rolls however, as I told Mayra and Valentina, I certainly will be back to try more of their menu items. read more

You can tell it was thrown into a microwave We got the Vanessa roll and black jack roll - again mouth full of rice and little to no fish. Definitely not sushi rice but hard dry white rice! I also don't understand why there was a side salad served with the Vanessa roll - never seen that combination before. I guess they just throwing anything on to the plate. business must be rough but trying to be cheap on your fish isn't going to bring anyone back. Or the sushi chefs just don't know how to roll properly because my goodness look at that sushi roll... Honest 3 star review. I wanted to like this place more but the food is just very average. Given that this is a Florida franchise based out of Miami, the space has that Miami vibe. Comfortable and yet "Miami tropical" without being too Miami. What we ordered: App-Steamed shumai The shumai was just "meh." It came with this weird very heavy mayo based dipping sauce which didn't go well. Typically with shumai or any dim sum style food, the accompanying sauce should be soy sauce/vinegar or just plain chili oil. The entrees: I ordered chicken teriyaki and a rainbow roll. My BF ordered habachi scallops. I decided to order a very basic entree just to see how this place would execute chicken teriyaki. (Gotta be able to nail down the basics right?!) Instead of using dark meat chicken (which is better to use, not as easy to dry out), they used chicken breast which came out over cooked and very dry. On the other hand, the roll came out ok and the fish did taste fresh so kudos there. The habachi scallops came with loads of scallops and according to him tasted pretty good. Our server Derrick was great. Attentive, helpful, and calm during a busy Saturday night dinner service. All in all this place is just ok.
