I moved away from eastern ma to the Midwest about a year ago, and this is one of the few places I really miss. The food is always phenomenal and fresh, and I've never had bad service. I generally opt for take out, but dining in nice since the space is so cozy and relaxed. If you plan on drinking they don't serve alcohol but instead let you byob, which comes in handy both for personal taste and not hitting your wallet too hard. The miso soup is delicious, as well as the edamame. I always get tuna and the eel, but you really can't go wrong with any of their sushi combo platters. The fish is always full of flavor and served at the perfect temperature. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is, if you dine in during the winter, it gets quite chilly (even with their space heaters set up!), but that's not enough to knock this place a star. Sushi Corner is one of our favorite resturants. This tiny, hole-in-a-wall sushi joint has some of the freshest sushi/maki around. I am always talking about how Melrose has 8 million pizza places and how ridiculous it is, so I can't believe I have yet to review Sushi Corner. I love having a take out sushi place pretty close by. Dine in is good too, service is always fast and everything is neat and clean. But it's more of a grab a quick bite there or take out kind of place. I have started veering from my standard Idaho, Salmon and Spicy Tuna maki a bit, and while these are always good, some of their specialty rolls are great. Tried the Melrose maki and a mango/avocado roll that was so refreshing. It was like dessert sushi. Miso soup is also always very good and steaming hot. Prices are fairly reasonable for sushi. I get nervous when a sushi place is super cheap, it seems like you are just asking for bad fish or something. Maybe that's just me. Anyway, a recent visit reminded me how much I like Sushi Corner. I was introduced to sushi corner by my sister who raved about the place. I've been a few times and in total, I like it. The sushi always comes out pretty quick and the quality of the fish is great. We got the Philadelphia roll, celtics maki, california rolls, shrimp tempura and red sox maki. All were great, but the shrimp tempura was my favorite. The inside is really small with a total of 4 tables and a small bar area. Our waitress was nice and attentive but the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because we had a small issue with the bill at the end. We had one of those prepaid visa gift cards. She tried to use it and it wouldn't go. She tried a few times and finally got it to work. She told us that 20 dollars was on it, but we could have sworn that it had 25. We left our tip and went home. When we got home, we checked the visa gift card balance online and she had used the whole 25 dollars on the card! Not sure if it was her fault or the credit card company's but it still happened. If you're in the area and wanting an intimate sushi experience, I'd say check this place out. But, keep an eye out on the bill and bring cash if you can. I've dined-in at this tiny hidden spot once, was a good meal and I watched the game on tv. Pretty sure it's BYOB, liquor store around the corner on Main St is clutch. I've ordered delivery via foodler a ton of times, quality is always on point. Rolls are delicious, good size and fresh. They do standard menu options with a couple surprises. Sashimi is fresh and delicious, soups and rices are solid options. Everything arrives packed well. Due to the click-click-eat ease of foodler I've had very little interaction with staff, but delivery people are nice enough. In no less than 25 deliveries, we had just one that took over an hour to arrive, and they were very cool about it when we called to see what's up; otherwise they're speedy enough that the aberration that night didn't turn us off. I come here about once a month and have enjoyed it. Its a quiet hole in the wall restaurant (I don't think they even have a bathroom...unless its back in the kitchen somewhere). I ordered sushi here for delivery last night and it was pretty good. Even though I only live about 5 minutes away it still took a good 40 minutes, but it was worth the wait. My boyfriend and I split an order of: avocado roll, salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and california roll. Everything was very good and fresh. I usually am not a fan of spicy tuna rolls (just too much spicy mayo), but I loved this one. Not too much mayo and some avocado in there as well. I didn't order any specialty rolls, but I think if those are delicious it would take the rating up to 5 stars. The total bill was about $21, which I think is totally reasonable. I had been wanting to try this place since I discovered it - and when I say "discover" I really mean it was not obvious to find. Got my chance a couple of Fridays nights ago when we had impromptu company. I ordered about $70 worth of sushi, fried rice, Teriyaki, and tempura. The prices were really reasonable and the sushi was great. The rest of the food was just okay - but this didn't come as a surprise since the place is called "The Sushi Corner". It is nice that they offer non-sushi items because two of our five guests didn't like sushi. Worked out perfectly. I saw three guys making sushi when I picked up our order which was impressive. It's ok, I've had a few weird experiences for ex. no matter how busy or how slow they always say 20 minutes. I've now realized when they say 20 minutes I always ask "are you sure" because I've gone down before and waited another 30 minutes before. I only eat cooked maki, so I will speak only on that as I've never ordered sushi or sashimi from this place. I dine-in once with a friend...ordered the party boat. It is beautiful and plenty for just the two of us. My husband and I ordered take-out from them occasionally. Delivery fee is about $3+tips. We love the cooked maki, our favorite was their Sushi Corner roll, with shrimp wrapped into the maki and avocado and eel on the outside. The last three times we've ordered, the eel had bones in them. That was very unpleasant, as it almost caused us to choke on it. We brushed the fault off thinking okay maybe they just had a bad eel this time. It has been consistent with the bones in the eel. I just finished eating some tonight, I had to cough the bones back out. On top of that, I was completely FREAKED out when I found a staple inside one of my maki. STAPLE! (yes, the little metal things that you staple your papers with). This time we were there waiting for our maki. We were told it would take 15-20 minutes, which was fine by us as we were doing errands at the post office across the street. 20 minutes later we arrived to pick up the food, and the girl there processed my credit card payment, walked into the kitchen, stood next to the sushi chef, chatted with him non-stop....we sat there another 15 minutes while they chatted. Finally I was fed up, It was well over 40 minutes, that was totally ridiculous. I peeked in and asked if we could get our food soon as it has been over 40 minutes. The girl was apologetic and said yes yes sorry about that. Here's what I think...the chef probably needed another pack of something to make our maki, opened it up, and perhaps there were staples in that package, and he was so busy chatting with the girl he didn't realized he stuck a staples along with the maki. I thought it was a bone when I pulled it out of my mouth...anyways still pretty freaked out about that. I like their maki, but I do not think I will be returning there or ordering take out from them for a long time, at least until i get that horrific image out of my head. read more

So I'm a huge fan of sushi but unfortunately for me, my family and boyfriend are not. Tonight I was on my own for dinner so I decided to take advantage of having a choice and ordered sushi takeout! This was my first time ordering from Sushi Corner. I got three different rolls, since I had trouble deciding what I wanted. I got the spicy tuna, crazy maki, and idaho maki. Spicy Tuna is usually my favorite, but that disappointed me. I think because it was takeout maybe they forgot the spicy mayo? Whatever the issue was, it was not spicy. Otherwise, the fish seemed fresh and the roll was put together nicely. The crazy maki was phenomenal: it is a crab tempura with avocado and cream cheese. The roll was huge and the crab crispy and delicious. The idaho maki was pretty good, but I had sort of wished I opted for something different, like the summer maki which included more than just the sweet potato. It was just a little unexciting. I've been here several times and have had mostly positive experiences. I actually don't think sushi is their best fare. Somewhat surprising given their name. Their sushi isn't bad, but it's not great either. For the price, the quality is decent and the portion size is very good. I've tried their combos and several rolls. Nothing stands out, but nothing was bad either. I think their best dishes are their seafood wonton udon soup and their salmon katsu (served with rice and green beans). The soups is tasty and the udon noodles have great texture. They give you a good amount of seafood and wontons. The salmon katsu is also very good and the amount for the price ($10) is outstanding. The sauce they give you for the salmon is extremely salty though. Overall, a decent in the wall, local sushi/Japanese shop. It's very small and hard to find. Give it a try, and given the price you can expect a decent meal. read more

I've been coming here for years now, and this place is nothing short of amazing. The sushi is fresh, and absolutely delicious. The sushi corner roll is by far one of my favorites with eel and avocado on top, shrimp tempura in the middle. The assorted fish with cream cheese roll is also another on of my favorites. This was a negative experience. I ordered food from here. You can not dine in. You can only have it delivery or pick up. I could not pick up. First the delively lady said, "I can't believe I had to climb these stairs." Then she walked away. I noticed I only had half of a 30 dollar order and asked her to come back...she ignored me. I called the restaurant. They said they would NOT reimburse me and then said they wanted me to pick it up...which I couldn't as it's after the blizzard and I have a broken foot. "You can pick it up or we can't reimburse you." It is a bad example of business. DO NOT buy from here!!!! EVER!!! read more
