We ordered chicken hibachi, a spicy tuna roll, and a sweet potato roll to go. The food was nicely packaged with branded seals. We were surprised by the inclusion of three cheesecake bites. Having eaten sushi around the US and around the world and with positive Yelp reviews, I expected a minimum level of acceptable for this sushi. The spicy tuna was ok, but was significantly over priced. You receive 6 incredibly small rolls barely larger than a quarter. The sweet potato was the same. Both rolls fit in a container typically sized for ONE 8 piece roll The hibachi was more akin to a Chinese happy family meal with sliced carrot, broccoli, chicken, and a soup like sauce that didnt stick to anything. The flavor was overly sweet and the chicken was gummy. The yum yum was complete liquid and was sweet but had nearly no flavor. The salad dressing was a generic dressing seen at most lower end sushi/hibachi joints. There wasnt near enough for the amount of salad, but I had no interest in finishing it anyway. The miso was incredibly strong. It certainly wasn't the best I've had, but it was alright. For most people it would be entirely too pungent. Finishing off the meal with the cheesecake felt almost like bribery to forget everything we had just eaten. This place has good sushi for a really good price, especially for it being in downtown Indy. The food is yummy and they have lots of varieties of rolls for everyone's taste. I went for my bday celebration and unfortunately, they took at least 15 minutes to seat us, and no one even acknowledged us. We waited over 25 minutes for drinks just for them to come out super strong. Honestly, they just seem really short-staffed which is unfortunate because this restaurant definitely has potential to be great! Every staff person was kind, there just wasn't enough of them to attend to all customers well. The ambiance was nice, though some seating arrangements are a bit awkward. Omg this place is so lovely. The inside is gorgeous and the staff is so beyond sweet and accommodating from the moment I walked in. I was in town and wanted to grab sushi and this place is so fresh - I wish I lived closer! I got the sunny roll and it was one of the best rolls I have ever gotten. By far the best quality sushi I've gotten in Indianapolis. They have the best costumer service, sometimes giving free desserts when I order food to-go, and very accommodating when dining in. I prefer eating in the restaurant because the inside is so cute. I've never had better oysters - 100% recommend if you like shell fish. I went with three other people before a Pacers game. I made a reservation and they were a little busy, but it didn't seem too crazy. However, the service wasn't great. Took a while to get our drink order and then also a little bit more time to get our food order. I don't know if it just opened, but they seem like they were still working out the kinks. As Japan is known for idyllic forests and scenery the same environment is mimicked here at Sushi Den. The only way to elevate this experience is by serving authentic and delicious Japanese food which is what they did. We came in while they had their lunch specials which provided us with economically priced meals ranging from unique Japanese sandwiches to incredibly large bento boxes. The service from our waitress was professional and timely and couldn't think of any complaints. The hibachi plate had so many great flavors. It was a bit small however this was due to it being a lunch special. I would highly recommend their Bento boxes which look phenomenal and the portion size is enormous! Visited today for lunch and arrived at the same time as another gentleman and two ladies were behind me. I ordered a Sexy Jalapeño and watched the gentleman that came in at the same time as me be served his soup, salad, and not one but TWO rolls separately one of which was next to my food (now I know it was mine) as my dish sat there. The two ladies that were behind me ordered a dish and they had already been served. I motioned for my waitress to come over and she grabs my food to bring it to me. TL;DR: 5/5 experience. Highly, highly recommend sushi den. Recently tried sushi den for the first time, eating in the restaurant. The atmosphere, service and food are outstanding. We were greeted with a house made cucumber salad on the house, and ordered edamame. I am a fan of edamame in general, but Sushi Den's literally melted in our mouths. I got a sushi roll and the noodle side, another friend got 2 sushi rolls and lastly the chicken teriyaki. The food was absolutely delicious. You could taste the freshness in every dish. The chicken teriyaki may appear to be one of the more expensive dishes, but it was huge! It came with soup, a salad and fried rice. Just delicious. The noodles are garlicky and savory. The sushi was a highlight. After our meal our server brought us mochi on the house. It was so good!! After this truly awesome experience, we decided to get take out. This was 3 night later- I was ready to eat it again!! The take out quality was just as great. Warm, fresh and quick! They also treated us to cheesecake bites! Sushi is in point. Food is fresh. The cut of steak utilized for hibachi is NOT GOOD AT ALL! We spent a bit of money for food that was the equivalent of chewing leather, and that is being kind. I hope this gets addressed as it's a beautiful spot, but passing off a cut of bottom round with a hibachi cooking style, is not how you're going to stay open very long. Update- after offering a full refund and not responding to either emails requesting said refund, I will definitely say this doesn't bode well for their longevity. Any place that decorates with white crushed velvet chairs, doesn't understand you shouldn't forsake food quality for ambiance. Best of luck read more

A coworker and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We were seated immediately and were shocked at how much food we received for the price. I'm not a sushi fan so I went for the chicken-based bento box. Let's start with the sushi was incredible! We got a few rolls and everything was fresh and delicious. Probably the best sushi we've ever had. But.... The service and wait was awful and made it a rough experience. We waited for an hour to be seated. No host to take your name or see if you had a reservation. We waited in a line out the door and watched as 8 tables were empty, dirty, and not cleared. We ordered immediately as we were seated and it took close to an hour for our food to be delivered to our table. Overall just a disappointing experience. I had sushi here with my family. I thought the fish was a bit stale, it's my mistake that I didn't complain at the time since I didn't want to ruin my family time. I still went ahead and put that sushi in my stomach (big mistake). After eating, I felt a little upset in the stomach and vomited right after I got home. When it comes to food, especially raw food, restaurants should be highly cautious about what they are serving because it can lead to health concerns.
