We decided to try a new spot while downtown last week. We've heard many good reviews for Sushi w and decided to give it a shot. We got: Tuna nigiri: 6.5/10 it was fine for the price I was expecting a much fattier tuna. Kaarage: 7.5/10 loved the salt and guchuyang but I wish it was boneless. Okinomiyaki: 6.5/10 would have been better if all the pieces had the sauce. Dragon roll: 6/10 very basic almost like grocery sushi roll Blue crab roll: 6.5/10 it was fine wish there was more portion wise Fuji fu: 7.5/10 it was good but he gave us forks which made it very difficult to eat. The service was fast and everyone was nice. The restaurant is small and good for couples since they have a lot of seating for 2. It is pretty dark and romantic but very noisy.

Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience at Dokku. The sushi dishes were fresh and carefully put together, the seating selection(s) and ambience are friendly and open, and the service we received was great. Thank you!

Excellent food- we tried so many things I don't even know what some of the items that showed up but they were good. We sat at the downstairs bar as it was a super busy Saturday night- it was so loud there were times I couldn't hear the person next to me. The staff tried so hard to take care of everyone and they really made this a positive experience.

If you're looking for some great nigiri combinations, Sushi Dokku is the place for you! Recently came back for their restaurant week menu, and it was great! I chose the Deviled Eggs, Tuna Truffle nigiri, Hamachi nigiri, Sake nigiri, Crispy Maguro roll, and mochi (we tried all the flavors - espresso, salted caramel, passion fruit, and strawberry). Every bite was amazing - but beware, the Crispy Maguro definitely packs on the heat. I also recommend the Snow Maiden sake if you like a sweeter sake. We dined in the Booze Box section and it was super vibey, but not too loud where we had to yell over the music or anything. The servers were attentive, will definitely keep going back (especially for Restaurant Week)!

We didn't have a reservation so we sat at the bar which was a wonderful experience because we got to see the chefs cook. Everything we ordered was yummy. I really enjoyed the broth for the udon. The dining area is not too big so make a reservation unless you don't mind waiting for the bar.

Walked in and got seated right away. Sitting at the bar was a good move as you can see the chef preparing the sushi. The ambiance inside is nice and cozy and when you come around 4pm on a regular weekday there's not a lot of people. The sushi we had was great. We requested handrolls and they really made us handroll which was absolutely amazing. The truffle hamachi hand-roll was by far my favorite it was fresh and nice and crispy. The next one we had was seared salmon and albacore which was so good. The fill the hand-roll to the brim. The Ecuador was really fresh and filled with flavors. We also got their Chefs dressed scallops nigiri which was so good and just melted in your mouth. You must get the dessert which we got the green tea ice cream with the Fuji Fu apple cake and it was really good. Reminded me of the Trivoli Tavern date cake. Overall the chef were really nice and the service was great and very attentive. Their sister restaurant is Yokocho which has amazing rolls as well.

Came for dinner and the sushi was amazing! Made reservations for the sushi bar and the view did not disappoint. The sushi chefs were busy making sushi from the time I arrived until I left! I ordered a pear up cocktail and it's spot on! Very delicious - made this my drink of the night. I started with the miso soup and hamachi ponzu. I thoroughly enjoyed the hamachi ponzu and didn't want the plate to end! Other items I ordered were: maguro, sake, and tako nigiri. The fish tasted very fresh and I enjoyed the chef dressed on the tako. I also ordered the seared salmon and albacore roll and enjoyed it as well. The pieces were a decent size and flavor combinations worked well together. Overall, this is great spot for amazing sushi!

    Tuna Truffle nigiri

I'd give it a 4.5! Most items were delicious, service was solid, ambiance is vibey and feels authentic. Must order the tuna truffle nigiri (2 pieces per order). We got 3 order haha & considered getting more. The drinks are fantastic and sneak up on you because they taste booze less. The off menu sakerita was delish as was the gin and mango drink. Very good potstickers for app. Some rolls were better than others. You need the matcha cheesecake for dessert but can skip the tempura ice cream. I don't know how they get the brownie crust to be warm for the cheesecake but they do. It's the perfect thickness and texture and paired with the smooth, cool and dreamy matcha cheesecake. It was amazing.

Horrible service! It was a nice day outside so we sat on their patio which was very well done. However it took over 45 minutes for 2 rolls to come out when they weren't even that busy! The tables all around us got multiple rounds of drinks and food and our server never once came to check on us. Instead of saying she will find our order, she had the nerve to ask us if we wanted to order more!! The manager came out and barely apologized. Horrible service. The food when it did come out was OK, barely any fish on the rolls for the price they were charging. 5 dollars per oyster for a tiny oyster plus they charge you extra for soy sauce on the oyster! I don't mind paying more for good food if the service is up to par. Will never go back until they figure out their service situation.

Good sushi, service was nice and a good location for some quick but great sushi. I sat outside because the bar fills up fast

Cool vibe, with the decor and even the friendly service feeling like you're at a bar. Not upscale at all. Sushi is good quality, rolls are very generous in size.

Beautiful presentation, very fresh sushi. Didn't enjoy the rolls I tried this time as much as the first. Shiromi: 3/5 Crispy Maguro: 3.5/5 Will stick with my favorites next time, but still a great experience with fantastic service!!! Amazing Ube lemonade as well. Enjoyed their shaded patio.

The sushi here is fresh and amazing! Service is very quick too. We were in, ate and had our check ready in less than an hour for 5 people! Cocktails are great too, craft cocktails. We were in Chicago for 4 days and loved it here so much that we came back!

All the premier dinners come with salad, cheese, fondue, and the chocolate fondue - You are just choosing what protein you would like. The Prince Geja combination has a little bit of everything. However, we most liked the seafood which includes lobster and the scallops were to die for! Also the beef also cooks well. Favorite dipping sauce included the pimento mayo, chimichurri, and garlic butter. The cheese fondue is quite rich and the bread is quite filling so maybe get as much cheese as you can on each piece of bread. The chocolate fondue, I think is actually the best course as the Belgium chocolate melts so well and has a decadent but not overly sweet flavor. It pairs well with all that is provided for dipping, which includes poundcake, rice Krispies, strawberries. They also have some liquor that they light on fire at first so you can roast the marshmallows. It is such a well thought out experience. Service flows very well from two waiters who take your order set up your fondue pots for each course, but be prepared to spend at least 2 hours on this experience. Check out the Groupon but also I read a review that they just tack on the extra $50 so it's not really too much of a savings. Not sure if this is true.

And that's because the menus were being printed with a personalized birthday message! Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and struck the perfect balance of checking in without being overbearing. The truffle-parmesan fries: We couldn't tell if they were too salty or just salty enough, but somehow we couldn't stop eating them! I ordered the baby wedge salad with chicken, and while the chicken looked small at first, it ended up being a large enough portion to last the salad. We were also surprised with complimentary desserts: the Chocolate Chunk Cookie Skillet and Buck Russell's Cake. Though I'm not a sweet person, my dining companions thoroughly enjoyed them.

I came here with three others and we all ordered different things from the brunch menu along with a few drinks. The atmosphere here is open, modern, and pretty eye catching, we all heard a few negative comments about brunch here and rather than just taking words of advice we came anyways. To be honest we should've went elsewhere, the only thing about the food that actually seemed to have any flavor was the fries and even they were a little salty like my wallet when we left LOL The Jumbo (not so much) Lump Crab Benedict at $25 was honestly boring lacking any flavor also it didn't even come with potatoes I ended up sharing my Lincoln Park Turkey Club that was good but even it was pretty basic at $21, the Burger at $21 literally looked like something off the kids menu the bun was bigger than the patty LOL and the Blackened Chicken Caesar at $19 was more like an appetizer size and the chicken at least it was juicy not dry. Other reviews about brunch here seem to be about the same and honestly I think it's funny they don't even try to elevate their food when so many say about the same things. I think the only reason why people come to this place is 1. It's located in Lincoln Park and 2. that makes it a trendy spot to eat. So why bother fixing anything when it's just trendy and flavorless Their brunch is mediocre but apparently dinner is where it's at. However after the experience with brunch I'm not even sure I would even go back. Come here for the staff eat at your own expense maybe your food will have flavor or not but honestly do what you want and keep it trendy

I really wanted to like it; this was a nine-year anniversary dinner. Service was really attentive and friendly and I did appreciate that they brought out specific utensils for me as a left-handed person, never saw that before! The restaurant felt a bit bare and sterile, I think I was maybe expecting a little more decor on the table for a Michelin star restaurant. To echo several of the reviews below, the salad was awkward to share and scanty, the soup was good but the bread served with it felt like an afterthought, the sturgeon wasn't anything special though the sauce was quite good, and we are pretty sure the cut of beef was not wagyu or if it was it was not cooked the right way. The beef was the most disappointing part, I couldn't even chew through all of it. The add-ons were the best part - pasta was great and our dessert was delicious. But the rest of the meal was unfortunately mediocre. Hoping that others have a different experience with the regular menu!

I love that the tables are widely spaced out so you don't feel like you're on top of another party. I loved the bowls everything was served in, and the silverware was unique. I don't think anything blew me away like I was expecting which was disappointing. We had the caviar supplement, which they accidentally gave us two of (amazing), which was good but also didn't blow me away. I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavors of the soup but that's probably a personal problem. The sturgeon and wagyu were alright. I wish I left being amazed but I left thinking I wouldn't come back, not even for RW again. I think my favorite bite of the night was the sticky date cake. The music is also appropriate and plays at the perfect volume to be pleasant without forcing one to raise their voice. I tried the Green Daisy and a House Old Fashioned. The Green Daisy was boozy and had some herbaceous notes. A little tartness and a little sweetness helped balance the drink out and make for a phenomenal sipper. I loved the creativity with this one! The House Old Fashioned was also well done, assembled with quality ingredients in balance with one another. Nothing wrong with a well-executed classic. The prices are more or less reasonable considering the location and overall market, with bevies costing around $16. The bar staff is excellent! Very friendly and welcoming! Final verdict: A spot where I can say come for the drinks and stay for the vibe. It's the kind of place where walking in you are transported a century into the past.
