It's exciting to find a All You Can Eat Japanese restaurant with such a high CP and quality food! Sashimi plate, hand rolls, and nigiri are must-have! For zensai, highly recommended soft shell crab and dynamite mussels! Will definitely visit again!

I previously gave this place four stars, but after my most recent visit I'm adjusting it to three. I still think the fish quality is solid, especially for AYCE. However, the fish to rice ratio is off. There is too much rice in each nigiri, which made it less enjoyable for me to eat. I ended up removing about half the rice from each piece just to make it manageable. Toward the end of the meal, when we had a few pieces of nigiri left, a waiter came over and told us we could not cut the rice. After this interaction, his attitude was noticeably not great. I was not going to just eat the plain rice I had already removed, but out of respect we ate the remaining nigiris fully. What was left at the end was uneaten rice, two chicken wings, and one pork belly skewer. We ordered six skewers total and only left one because it was dry and not enjoyable. The chicken wings were good, and overall we finished most of what we ordered and did not feel like we over-ordered. We were charged $8 for the leftover rice, half eaten wings, and the one dry skewer. That left a bad taste and came off as a bit stingy. If the restaurant is going to be strict about finishing nigiri entirely, the nigiri should not be packed with so much rice. Unfortunately, I will not be back to eat things I do not enjoy. I have been to other AYCE spots where more food was leftover and I was not charged.

I came to Nikko based off of multiple reviews and word of mouth since I was visiting from out of town. I was so disappointed in the quality of fish. Salmon had no flavor, it existed as a fishy texture vessel. The tuna was meaty and tasted heavily of iron. The toro wrap was good, but it really was just a wad of avocado with a sprinkle of fish. Their crab rangoons were comedically large and came with four. Service was great ! Our server was very quick and lovely. The restaurant was beautiful and had lots of seating. Nikko's saving grace was that they had the best ube soft serve that I've ever tried. Very random but a nice surprise

Fun all you can eat dinner, high quality dishes and great ambiance. Had a great server and food was awesome. Love their policy on food waste and kept us honest about how much we could actually eat

Came here with my brother and had a great experience overall. We visited on a weekday around 5:30 pm, and it wasn't busy at all, we were seated immediately. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. We did the AYCE option, and most of what we tried was delicious. The nigiri was a standout, fresh fish and just the right amount of rice. The special rolls were also pretty good, except for the dynamite roll, which had way too much cream cheese and completely overpowered the other flavors. We finished with ube and vanilla ice cream, which tasted amazing and had a great texture. The restaurant has a modern, stylish vibe. My only minor complaint was the music, it was pretty loud and felt more like club music. Not a dealbreaker, just an interesting choice. Overall, I'd definitely come back!

Went for AYCE lunch on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. The staff greeted us and was extremely nice and fast. The space is nice and modern and the booths were spacious. First thing that I wish was different was that they didn't have fresh ginger or wasabi. They were in packets on the side of the table. This was a bummer! Starting with apps, the crab rangoons were good but the sauce was a bit too gingery for my liking. The takoyaki was delicious. The pork belly seemed a bit dry and wasn't our favorite. The crispy rice spicy tuna was okay as well. The nigiri was also just fine. Fish was good but the rice seemed kind of dry and could've been more soft and fluffy. The ube soft serve was really good, we were bummed they were out of the matcha soft serve but the ube was delicious! Overall, not my favorite spot for sushi but good for something quick.

We visited Nikko Sushi Izakaya to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and it was a great experience. The wait staff were so sweet and super funny, we loved having them! This is one of the best AYCE sushi places in Chicago hands down. Everything is made to order fresh and service was pretty quick. Their hand rolls and meat skewers were probably some of my favorite bites. 10/10 would recommend and come back!

My friends and I have a Sushi Club that meets once a month to try the best sushi in Chicago. Nikko Sushi Izakaya joined the top of our list when it opened! Located in a great spot on Division, we walked in on a weeknight and got one of the only remaining tables inside. We went with the all you can eat, and each roll was amazing. Topped off with a delicious Yuzu cocktail and matcha ice cream, this was a perfect meal. We can't wait to go back!

This is my favorite AYCE sushi spot in Chicago. What makes this place great is the variety of appetizers that you can order on top of the fresh sushi roll and nigiri options. Dishes that stood out to me were the salmon nigiri, the toro wrap (highly recommend), the white tuna nigiri, the beef skewers, chicken and onion skewer, and the nikko sushi roll. It's definitely pricier than sushi taku but you get a lot more variety. Service was friendly and efficient. The tables are a little small for all the dishes that come out for the sushi, but we ate quickly to make room. We came here on a Sunday at 1 pm for a later lunch and there was no line. Bathrooms available on the first and lower floor. Definitely give this place a visit!

Finally got to try this spot out since it has been on my list. It was a busy Friday night when I walked in. We got seated downstairs and it was busy too. Ambience was kind of on the loud side for a sushi spot, but didn't bother us much. The service was excellent! Our server was super attentive and kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything or wanted to order additional food. It was a little frustrating being seated downstairs because we didn't have any phone service, so I couldn't receive or send text messages along with phone calls. We tried connecting to the wifi but that didn't help either. I would have to go upstairs and step outside to check my phone, just in case. My friend and I got a bottle of sake and it was exactly what we were looking for. Nice and subtle and not too dry. We ordered a couple of rolls and it was good, rice ratio was good, but the rolls were definitely filling. The sake (salmon) hand roll was my favorite! My friend and I ordered at least 3 each that night. A little disappointed with the hamachi carpaccio because the fish was frozen. It was still a little frozen when it was brought out to us. I also wished we were informed from the beginning that we could only order 2 items from the sushi bar menu. The toro wrap was good, but our first couple bites, we could only taste avocado. We were so full we wanted to order more, but couldn't. Possibly next time!

This is a newer AYCE sushi spot in the city. The staff are nice and attentive. There is ample seating. The food is pretty yummy. The fish is fresh and there is a nice variety of items. I like the hand rolls that are offered, as this isn't typically available at other AYCE sushi places.

    Ankit S.

We came here during their happy hour and it wasn't that busy but I would say it's thr best access sushi. There'd even handrolls on the menu. I really like how thee is a variety of rolls or Nigiri sushi to try. The ambiance inside is so nice which is perfect for a date night or just to enjoy some great sushi.

    Eric L.

My party got the all you can eat and it did not disappoint. The fish was fresh and each piece had just the right amount of rice. Besides the nigiri and the hand rolls, I thought that the items from the "Sushi Bar" stood out. The Walu Tataki with the wasabi yuzu sauce was the star of the night. I could have eaten that dish all night. But you can only choose one per person, so choose wisely.

It was no wonder when we arrived that there was a line out the door. We waited around 45 minutes, and the bouncer was a really nice fellow who kept track of the numbers and people at the door. Upon entering, we were immersed in a dimly lit retro-style lounge. It was quite loud inside and packed as we walked to our seats. The server was great at taking our orders and offering suggestions. I opted for the French 75, which featured sparkling wine and mixed gin, brandies, and citrus. The drink was delicious, but STRONG. I don't know what they put in the cocktails in America, but I am always finished after one drink. Needless to say, we were all struggling to finish our own drinks. My favourite touch was the coasters, I ended up keeping all of them so that I can reuse them at my galentines event next year. The 'bisous' with the kiss on the other side is a perfect touch! I think the drinks are fairly priced for USD. I would love to return someday to try other drinks and bar bites, and also try their sister bar, Sparrow.

Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. Fire your "bouncer" (??) and hire someone with some basic customer service and communication skills!!

Our waiter at Le Mistral was very friendly, gave some good advice on the cocktails, and was consistently attentive. My cocktail was just OK - sherry-based martini. I don't normally like a martini but all the ingredients actually seemed very much up my alley - the sherry, benedictine, rose vermouth. But the olive just overpowered. And definitely not worth the price of $24... Would definitely return and try the food next time as well.
