Funny enough we saw a group of people with this box at Millennium Park-- during their showing of 'Budapest Hotel' for their Summer Film Series. We thought it was another pizza box but to our dismay, it was sushi inside a pizza box. I swear I couldn't even focus on the movie with how much this group was enjoying their sushi. So we waited and waited until the next film showing at Millennium Park-- this time 'My Best Friend's Wedding' and we got our own Sushi-Zza box. The rolls we got: California, Mango Avo-Q, Negi Hamachi, Spicy Tuna, White Castle, & Spicy Shrimp. Every single one was amazing. My favorite being the Negi Hamachi, a delicious yellowtail roll. My partner's favorite was the Spicy Shrimp and they really don't like shrimp so this was surprising but the flavor was so good. Only critique would maybe be the mango in the rolls, as it was crunchy and not ripe. 6 rolls came out to around 60$ which I 100% think it was worth it. They also give you a decent amount of ginger, soy sauce, & wasabi. Although as the pickled ginger lover myself-- I wish I asked for more. [I actually mistakenly ordered a bit too early, AKA we were in Lincoln Park Zoo and the movie didn't start until 6:30. I had lower expectations given the reviews and specific feedback on nigiri freshness. But we went for it anyway and it was surprisingly good and generous cuts of fish. The chuturo prob was not the best we've had but at the price point, can't complain! The scallops were by far and away the best cuts. The hamachi was solid and the salmon was buttery. The spicy tuna roll had a nice kick. Love the BYOB but had to ask for a chiller. When we came in, wasn't that busy but by the time we left, it was packed. Between the full restaurant and constant pick up orders (I faced the tiny kitchen) the staff was super behind so our food did take a while to come out. In our sushi box, we ordered 6 sushi's: California roll ($8.95), dragon roll ($15.95), fire dragon roll ($17.95), grisly Godzilla ($16.95), Poseidon ($22.95), and rainbow ($15.95). I would say that the sushi was decent. Our favorites were the dragon and fire dragon rolls. You can't go wrong with either rolls and I always order dragon rolls. My least favorite was the grisly Godzilla as I felt that the jalapeño and cream cheese was a combo that I didn't enjoy. The other rolls were decent, nothing crazy special. You basically order online or in-person 6-8 rolls from the menu. I chose California, Philly, Atlantic Monkey, I Didn't Hate My Mother, Rainbow, Spider, and I got a free item for spending $60+, - I chose Spicy Scallop. Overall, what was disappointing was the amount of rice in the rolls. I would say nearly 70% of each piece of a roll was rice. I would have taken a pic off all the rice I took off but it would have been really looked ugly. The fish ratio was a sliver. Basically, for my order at least, whoever rolled the sushi seemed new and didn't take the time to spread the rice thin, and double rolled the rice where the roll closes on top of another layer of thick rice. or to make it appear bigger. Mark had Basil Fried Rice and raved about it. I had sashimi. It was the most fresh, melt in my mouth, sashimi I've had in a very long time. Lots and lots of yummy sounds emanated from our table. Sushi-zza: You can choose a minimum of 6 & a max of 8 rolls for the box. Every single roll I got was fire! The rolls I got were fire dragon, volcano, grisly godzilla, king komodo, notorious, and super sweet potato. Their selection of sushi is pretty wide and unique, it was hard choosing which to try.
