When we came in, I was sad because it was our first family dinner out right after dropping our daughter off at college. I was teary and missing her. Friendly staff and delicious food! We got the Garlic Salmon Dinner, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Seaweed Salad to go. Speed was good, our food was ready in just under 20 min after we called. Garlic salmon was cooked well, and the flavor was on point. It came with a simple salad that tastes great, miso soup was not too salty and had carrots and onion too, and a California roll that was yummy as well. Seaweed salad was prepared well and tasted good. Shrimp tempura roll had avocado in it which I'm not used to but loved, and was wrapped in seaweed which was different but I loved too. My favorite cozy neighborhood spot for sushi! Here's why... When they say ASSORTED tempura, they mean it. Green beans, carrots, broccoli, sweet potato, okra, eggplants, shrimp, and probably more. Batter is crispy, flavorful, thick, and chunky, but not too heavy. Perfect appetizer, no notes. My regulars: yellowtail with tail, grilled eel, and scallop rolls. So, so solid. Like duh. You can order it regular sized or large, which is such a cool option to have. (I always get large.) New favorite: red queen roll. It's spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, green onion, and lemon! Melody of flavors melding in your mouth while squishy, crunchy, sticky textures dance around on your teeth. And the citrusy tang! Lemons don't usually work for me on sushi, but this one did. Now for the decor-- the coziness comes from the small, narrow space AND all the tiny little nigiri's on the wall WITH the golden ochre velvet draped on the ceiling! So cute and playful. See picture. I live in the area and have walked past here numerous times with peaked interest bc it's always busy! I ordered takeout here and it did not disappoint. The sushi selection is basic and hits the spot for that simplistic craving. I got a few other things not pictured but everything was so fresh! Everything about this place is fantastic. The decor is cute, the food is good, and the wait staff is not only polite and earnest, but also hell-bent on making sure you're fed. Miso soup? Ah, this is why we love San Francisco. Stumbled into Sushi Easy off the street, desperate for a refreshing bite to eat after a dehydrating work function in the Mission. There was one server and every table in the restaurant was taken but two. The chefs at the counter irasshaimase'd us and we were instantly seated and handed menus. My partner and I ordered a handful of options including the chef's choice sampler (can't remember exactly what it was called but attached a picture feat. my used napkin). Despite being the only staff member on the floor, Shī (I am almost certainly spelling his name wrong) delivered excellent, prompt service. Everyone around us seemed well taken care of, and he had quality recommendations and rapport as we tossed back and forth what to eat. The space is cute, the menu is at once familiar and original, and the food is good quality--most especially considering the fair price. We were comfortable the entire meal and left feeling satiated and fortunate to have found this place entirely by mistake. We did not expect to find a lovely sushi spot open until 10pm on Valencia, but now that we know it's here we'll definitely be back. If anyone knows of another place with genuinely good sushi in SF/Peninsula area at a similar place, I am eager to hear it. read more

I walked in with 4 at 7pm with no reservation on Thursday night and was able to be seated in 10 minutes. The place is no frills and cozy, but had great value menu options and the sushi and rolls were all delicious! I had the hamachi nigiri and the red queen roll. They did initially make the red queen roll with avocado but I asked them to remake it since I was allergic and it wasn't mentioned on the menu, and they were very gracious about it! A cute, new place on Valencia with about 20 seats. We came on a Friday around 6:30 and were able to get a table for 2 (though some others had to wait 10 mins or so for a table). There is only one waiter and he was a blur of energy, but had a little trouble since he had to manage seating people, clearing tables, orders, and delivering the food. The beer came right away but he forgot our soups and my drink and after about 20 minutes I had to get up and ask for both. We ended up getting the soups at the same time as the rolls. My food was incredibly delayed but I did appreciate the server communicating with me to keep me updated. We ordered 2 sushi easy platters and a couple of rolls. We got our food about an hour after we ordered. The server was super nice though. He threw in a tempura and a slice of their ube cheesecake. Once we came home, we devoured everything. Bad service overall -- and there were four customers in the entire restaurant, at two tables. We walked in at 11:58, right as they opened, and were the first party in -- three of us, two of them kids. While we were still ordering, the server stepped away to help a customer who came in after us, came back to finish taking our order, then went back to him. She poured water for the kids, then left to bring him water before finishing with mine. He got his food before we did, and what he ordered wasn't a quick single item -- several rolls and a bowl. Our food came out in pieces over about 35 minutes. The California rolls came first, then edamame, then the rest trickled out. The last item -- a plain avocado and cucumber roll, no fish, no cooking -- didn't arrive until 12:35, and only after I asked about it. The child who ordered it had nothing but the shared edamame that whole time and ended up filling up on it because nothing else came. She kept asking the other kid to share her roll. None of us ate together. The food was okay -- not bad, not memorable. The service was the problem. Two tables, four people, and twice the server broke off in the middle of helping us to attend to someone who came in later. The kitchen sent things out in no particular order, and the simplest thing we ordered came last and had to be chased down. If you're bringing kids, plan around that. They don't have good systems to produce good costumer service. read more

I had an amazing experience grabbing lunch, the staff is quick, the food was delicious and filling, and the decor of the small but cozy restaurant is cool. We live nearby so we walked to this hole in the wall on a late Monday night, and it was not crowded but still had a few other customers. The server was extremely hospitable and offered us miso soup on the house when we sat down. The prices were great, extremely inexpensive for California standards.
