Delicious gelato! The space is not too large, but has some indoor and outdoor seating. 2 sample max per person. The employees are helpful to help with finalizing your final flavor. There's a rotating selection and flavors are also very seasonal. A small scoop (1-2 flavor) is $6.50. Cones are addition cost. A pint ($11-13) is way more worth it, you got a lot more ice cream. Another good way to try flavor is to get a flight which 5 single scoop of ice cream for $17. Recently went in August 2026, order half plum and mocha chip. The mocha chip was super rich, but the plum was a bit too sweet. I'd previously order the flight to share, the ice cream was not so sweet previously. So sweetness varies by day, but overall, solid creamery gelato
Excellent gelato and simply one of the top three I have had in the Bay Area. Tried a bunch of flavors and decided on getting a large cup with giandula, pistachio, and mint blackberry. The texture was velvety and flavors were so deep and clean. The pistachio flavor was by far the best I have tasted. They claim they only sell the gelato the same day they make it and the freshness is what gives the excellent texture. Service was friendly and we enjoyed it a lot. Thank you!
3.5 stars overall but rounding up because I really liked the flavors, quality, and portion size. I sampled the honey lavender and strawberry gelatos, but the honey lavender was too sweet, so I got a small cup split between strawberry and lemon. The tangy flavors blended well together, and a small was still a hefty portion, but the ratio was off with 2/3 of the cup being lemon and only 1/3 of the cup being strawberry. Also didn't like the layout of the store. It made no sense that we had to go all the way to the back of the store to line up but then check out at the front. I get it's a small space, but the configuration was disorienting and created bottlenecks.
This was the perfect sweet treat after a somewhat underwhelming dinner next door at Nono Baru. The staff was friendly and happy to offer samples. I ended up ordering a small cup with half Sicilian Pistachio and half Rose Petal. The Rose Petal flavor had a lovely floral taste that I absolutely enjoyed, while the Sicilian Pistachio was rich and nutty. Both flavors were creamy, smooth, and, dare I say, not overly sweet?! Every bite was delicious and it was a wonderful way to end the evening.
I've lived in San Francisco for over 6 years and have spent countless hours on Fillmore Street for workouts, shopping, coffee, and restaurants. Somehow, despite passing by so many times, I had never stopped into Philmore Creamery until tonight and now I'm wondering what took me so long. As someone who loves gelato but is lactose intolerant, I was beyond thrilled to see such an incredible selection of sorbettos and non-dairy options. I have tried dessert spots all over the city, so I don't say this lightly: this is hands-down the best gelato I've had in San Francisco and some of the best gelato I've had anywhere in my life. I ordered the dark chocolate sorbet and the strawberry sorbet, and both were absolutely outstanding. Rich, intensely flavorful, perfectly textured, and incredibly fresh. Every bite tasted like it was made with high-quality ingredients. One of the highlights of my visit was meeting Jordan and his mom, Mona, the owners. They were so welcoming and passionate about what they do. I learned that everything is made on-site with fresh ingredients and no artificial additives, and you can truly taste the difference. The flavors are vibrant, authentic, and unbelievably delicious. I've officially found my new favorite dessert spot in San Francisco. I already can't wait to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. If you're anywhere near Fillmore, do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't regret it.
Really nice ice cream shop! I stopped by after seeing it on Google Maps and being in the area. It looked pretty unassuming, but they let me try all the different flavors. Good: The sorbet flavors are amazing. I was super thirsty, so the pear sorbet and the mango sorbet were really good. I almost felt like I was drinking a smoothie while I was eating it. I also like the stracciatella ice cream flavor since they're super creamy and very refreshing. There's a lot of seating inside, and I found it nice to just hunker down for an hour and work on my laptop. Bad: It does get pretty busy, and it can take a while to get through the line because it's super cramped inside. Overall loved this place and would come again~!

Philmore Creamery is classic gelato and sorbet done right. I have come by twice already and each time the flavors I got were fabulous. The line can get long but they move fairly fast. They have a policy where each person can only try three flavors, in the interest of keeping the line moving. The inside is a bit cramped with some seating inside and a refrigerated cabinet with ice cream based treats, as well as a cute spot for "dog parking" by the door. I really like their giant ice cream figurine outside. The first time I visited, I tried their dark chocolate sorbet and mascarpone gelato. This combination was absolutely HEAVENLY. The chocolate was rich and not too sweet, and the mascarpone tasted exactly like a tiramisu. I am always amazed by how they can get chocolate sorbet to taste just as good as chocolate gelato, as there isn't any milk. The second time, I tried their matcha blackberry ice cream and strawberry sorbet. The matcha was smooth and strong, and paired beautifully with the two summer flavors. The strawberry sorbet is limited to only a few weeks and it's so, so good, like summer in a cup!! This is one of my fave spots in the city for classic flavors with perfect execution. I can't wait to try their coffee and pistachio flavors!

My husband found this place especially for me because I cannot have dairy, and they have a few delicious vegan flavors including a dark chocolate sorbetto that is absolutely rich and decadent. Felt like such a treat! My husband and his brother loved their flavors too. Service was friendly, and we hung out at the inside seating until they closed. It was nice to have a spot to enjoy the ice cream and hang out.
Wish I could Phil more of this gelato in my mouth cuz it's so good. Was hoping to get some of the delicious raspberry flavor I saw online but they didn't have it. Got pistachio and coconut and the were incredibly creamy and delicious. They have plenty of great flavors and will let you try them. A little crammed inside but it's worth it.
2/13/26 We were craving gelato and wanted to badly for our faves to be in season. Unfortunately, we're too early and ended up with a sampling of cups of various flavors! We'll be back for our seasonal faves we already listed in past reviews! Saved enough rewards for a couple of pints too!!! Staff were all friendly and sweet as usual!
Loved my sweet treat from here! I got the pistachio gelato and dark chocolate sorbetto, the pistachio especially didn't feel too sweet. I did wish the dark chocolate taste was a bit stronger but it was still quite good. Second time here! Came back and sampled their Seasonal fresh strawberry flavor and it was SO GOOD! It very refreshing, especially on the hottest day of the year. Service was quick and they give a complimentary wafer with every order. The two sample policy makes me sad, I want to try everything! such unique flavors!!! the Rose petal pistachio stole the show: super strong rose flavor (worked for me because i love rose flavored desserts) with these chunks of crunchy (not sure but probably caramelized) pistachio scattered throughout it. i would definitely return for that the Chai was also good, not artificial at all i also sampled the mexican coffee and i really liked that you could tell it had actual spices in it also tried their seasonal Plum flavor: this was like a real plum, on the sweeter side, but will only be around for 2 more weeks definitely would return to try other flavors the one small bad thing: really really sweet, which is only a problem for me because I usually enjoy lighter flavors also pretty good service! allowed sampling even though I was super indecisive also not a long wait read more
This is a really great place for ice cream!!! Hungry for some cool and refreshing ice cream on a hot day I discovered this place on Google maps. Being it was just a few blocks away we decided to check it out. Glad we did. It's a small unassuming place but the ice cream (gelato) is high quality and very delicious. The offering choices are quite good. We both decided to get cups with two scoops, the same- one scoop of Stracciatella and one scoop Butterscotch Creme Brûlée. YUM! What a good combination. The ice cream was creamy smooth and really hit the mark of quality product. The flavor of the Butterscoth was even and not overpowering. The chocolate pieces in the Stracciatella were spot on good, the flavor equally good. They sell pints and quarts of the ice cream and other interesting products as well, for example awesome looking bomb cakes. Service was good, helpful and the prices not that bad for this level of quality. If you're in the area this is well worth a visit. read more

The pistachio gelato was excellent, it had a nice and smooth texture that was adequately creamy and not too sweet. I will say that the pistachio flavor here was on the weaker side compared to most other pistachio gelatos I've had. I also sampled the giandula which I thought was a bit too chocolatey and not enough hazelnut for my liking. The shop itself is quite small and it's hot and musty inside. I'm not a huge stickler of ambience but this was definitely one of the more run down ice cream shops I've been to. Service is fast, you can only sample two flavors b/c of how many people there are in line usually. 4.6/5 read more
Really solid gelato! All their gelatos are made in-house, which may be why they have a smaller selection of flavors. Regardless, they have something for everyone and we had a difficult time choosing flavors. Luckily, they allow two samples per person and service was patient as we maxed out on samples. We ended up getting pistachio (one of their most popular flavors), passionfruit coconut, and mango. All of them were creamy and super rich in taste. Definitely try this place out! read more

Philmore Creamery is known for their small batch gelato made in house. The small batch ensures the freshest gelato is served and you can truly taste the difference. We came in on a Saturday afternoon with no line in sight. They had a few sorbet flavors, one oatmilk based gelato and some classic flavors like pistachio, stracciatella, and chocolate hazelnut. We sampled a few flavors but didn't find any particularly exceptional.. however we could not leave empty handed because my guilty conscience could never. We opted for a single scoop of the pistachio. The single scoop was more than plenty for the both of us to share because they really pack it into the cup. The gelato was really creamy and soft, slightly nutty. However, the flavor was sort of bland and not sweet. Perhaps this is great for people who enjoy things not sweetened or those who are diabetic. But for me personally, I didn't find it particularly up my alley. The waffle cookie was delicious though. The interior is small but theres a few tables inside where you can enjoy your gelato. There is a spot to "park your dog" right outside too. Philmore Creamery is a good spot if you're looking for something different in that the gelato is more creamy and rich rather than sweet. read more

Solid spot for gelato! After an arduous hilly hiking session on a sunny SF day, we were craving a cold treat to energize us. There was a short line, and each person was allotted 2 samples. I ended up ordering the stracciatella and the coffee cardamom gelato flavors, which were pretty good. They weren't too sweet, though I did wish the cardamom in the coffee gelato was a bit stronger. Checked out Philmore Creamery after a movie night at AMC in Japantown. They were close to closing, but we managed to snag a couple scoops of gelato. Service was quick and friendly, and the staff gave us a great rundown of the flavors -- some are regulars while others rotate daily. - Single Scoop (Stracciatella, Gianduia Crunch / Chocolate Hazelnut) -- the stracciatella was light and creamy with chocolate chips, reminding me of the gelato I had back in Europe; the chocolate hazelnut had that rich Ferrero Rocher flavor -- silky, nutty, and perfectly balanced. Together, an indulgent and smooth combo! Their flavors are unique yet approachable, leaning on creative but familiar pairings. They also offer gelato bars and gelato cakes in the front side display case. The space is cute and cozy, with a few indoor seats and an outdoor standing table. Bonus points for the adorable dog parking sign with leash hooks by the entrance. Can't wait to come back to try more of their gelato flavors! read more

The gelato here? So good!! We swung by while waiting for our dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant. I'm not a big sweets person, but their unique flavors definitely had me hooked when we walked in. I tried the banana creme brulee and the chocolate hazelnut gelatos. The banana was reminiscent of a banana pudding w/ a creme brulee crust torched on top. The hazelnut gelato was the perfect pair for it! The staff were super friendly. They have a limit of 2 flavor samples per person. There's some seating inside, but the day we visited it was a bit humid so we opted to eat and walk. There are very few gelato flavors here. I got the stracciatella flavor in a cone. The cone was really good but the actual gelato was okay. I think it should've been a bit sweeter in general. The chocolate pieces were too bitter and strong for me. I do wish they had more flavor options. The employees are friendly and welcoming and encourage you to sample flavors which was nice. read more

Popped in like 10 minutes before closing to find a line. They let you sample 2. Friendly service. Some limited seating. I got the straciatella and granduia crunch. They nailed the peanut butter jelly flavor, which was balanced really well. The mint chocolate chip was good too but could have used more chocolate. They let you put multiple flavors in even the smallest portion you can order (a small cup), which is nice! A few seats inside and they also offer to-go pints of their ice cream. Ran across this place today--reviews seemed pretty high for a gelato spot, so I gave it a try. The consistency was very creamy and didn't melt too quickly, but to be honest, I liked the texture so much I probably just ate my small-size gelato fast. Service was nice. The woman working there made it clear to other customers that they were limited to two samples. I didn't love that policy, if it's someone's first time and they're considering three flavors, it's a bit discouraging to have to take a chance on the third. I tried the strawberry and the peach; I loved the strawberry, it tasted like an actual strawberry and was light, not too sweet or like it had so much artificial flavors, which was great to taste good quality. The peach, on the other hand, was pretty basic and didn't have that rich, peachy flavor I was hoping for. Thankfully, she did let me try a third flavor and I went with the salted caramel per her recommendation, which I appreciated. Honestly, if she hadn't, I probably would've just walked out. I understand the concern about people sampling too much and not buying, but by limiting samples, you could also be turning away potential returning customers, or even missing out on upsells. That's the main reason I docked a star from my rating for customer service and business approach. The flavor combo I chose ended up being really good and creamy. However, when I ordered half-and-half, the portions weren't even. The strawberry made up maybe 35% of the cup, it was mostly on the top half while the salted caramel filled the whole base. That was disappointing since I actually preferred the strawberry. (Also why I rated them 4 out of 5.) The ambiance was very casual and mid--nothing special. Definitely more of a grab-and-go kind of place. Overall, I'd go again. The gelato was actually yummy and creamy (though the apricot lacked flavor, so I didn't get it). read more

This place definitely has top notch gelato, but I think there's a few things that bring down the experience. What I do love about this place is the rotating and seasonal flavors. They taste so fresh, and delicious. Truly amazing gelato! The service here is not bad but it's also not great depending on who helps you. Part of the negative experience is that they have a sample limit of 2. This is particularly annoying considering the flavors are normally changing and can be unique. The workers aren't very helpful either, it sometimes feels like they are annoyed? I've also noticed that they don't always offer a wafer so sometimes I have to ask but for people that don't know it's an option it kinda sucks. Just wish their service was more welcoming, consistent and would love a normal sample experience. As far as ambiance this place is really small and the seating is tight. It's fine to just sit for a sec and finish up your gelato but I typically only do that if it's cold outside. I prefer to take my gelato to go while I walk on Fillmore read more
The gelato flavors were so rich, creamy and packed with a punch. The sizes looks smaller than it actually is because the scoopers really packed the cups. The fresh and crunchy wafer makes a great addition to the sweet treat. read more
BY FAR THE BEST GELATO IN SF!!! We decided to stop by for some gelato on a nice sunny afternoon since I've had this spot bookmarked for quite some time. Gelato is usually not high on my list since I prefer ice cream. We arrived at 2pm on a Saturday and noticed a few people inside waiting in line. The line moved rather quickly since they only had around 10 flavors or so. I'm glad that they had limited flavors because I get overwhelmed when there's a large menu. We ordered two scoops - Almond Toffee and Lemon Cream Raspberry Swirl. They were both decadent! The lemon paired perfectly well with the raspberry. Such unique flavors!! No problem, love your questions! It’s the same Gianduia ingredients with an added cookie crunch. So there is gluten in the crunch. Hope that helps.
Is your ice cream gluten free?
Hi Milly Most of the flavors are gluten free. We have two flavors (Lemon Cookie and Gianduia Crunch) which contain gluten, otherwise, the rest are gluten free.
