Small scoop (2 flavors): Roasted Banana (top) with Black Sesame (bottom, hidden)
    Bethany W.

This is a cute ice cream shop! Branding is cute & inside is well-lit with a good variety of seating. The pricing is very fair for small scoop (2 flavors)! Service was friendly and quick! I got roasted banana and black sesame; both very good, especially the black sesame which was a nice surprise cause it's hard to get right. The ice cream texture is thicker which I like but not "chewy thick" (which is the best imo haha). It did melt pretty quick which is my only complaint. Sweetness levels were just right! And there's a large variety of flavors! Worth the visit with a big group to please everyone!

Tiny little creamery near Dolores park with a very artsy aesthetic. They have a good selection of flavours, not overwhelming to put one in a decision paralysis - but enough to sample a few options before making up your mind. I sampled the orange strawberry sorbet, salted caramel and the black sesame. Went with a scoop of the black sesame which was delicious. Black sesame is generally a favourite of mine - but the salted caramel was nice too. Both flavours are good for people who don't like their desserts too sweet. Service was efficient and friendly.

Haven't been here in ages but it was just as delicious as I remember! Love all the flavor options, you can find your classic choices as well as some unique ones like black sesame, and they absolutely nail them all. Customer service is great and they're happy to let you sample anything you like before you order. I was very pleased with my combo of seasonal peach cobbler and crème brulee. And I love that you can pick two flavors even in the small size! I didn't even catch that they offered flights but will definitely take advantage of that next time so I can try more flavors. They also have a fridge available to purchase pre-packed pints as well. There is seating indoors if you're lucky to snag a table in the air conditioning, but otherwise Dolores Park is right across the street so it's a quick walk over to enjoy your ice cream in the park.

Soft serve here was delicious! I had the vanilla and caramel soft serve and it was so creamy and soft (though slightly sweet for my taste, especially the caramel). A few tables and seating inside were available and there was no wait on a weekday evening.

Heard good things about Bi-Rite so had to check it out while we were in the Mission District! It is conveniently located right across Mission Dolores park. We went around 8:30pm on a Saturday and it was a little busy with some limited indoor seating available. They had interesting flavors and we sampled a bunch - ended up getting a flight of the following four: Honey Lavender, Orange Cardamom, Cookies and Cream, and Piña Colada (vegan). We all liked the Honey Lavender, Orange Cardamom, and Cookies and Cream! The flavors stood out and satisfied my sweet tooth. My personal favorite was the Cookies and Cream. The Piña Colada tasted a bit too strongly of alcohol, so personally I wasn't a fan, but that was my bad as I didn't sample it beforehand. Overall, tasty ice cream with a good variety of flavors. I would give Bi-Rite a 4.5, rounding up to 5 since I enjoyed the ice cream. Would come back when in the area!

Had such a great experience at Bi-Rite Creamery on 18th Street in San Francisco. The selection of flavors is incredible, so many unique and creative options that it's honestly hard to choose. The staff were super friendly and patient, which made the whole visit feel welcoming and relaxed, even with a line. The shop itself is cute and has that classic neighborhood charm. I had the crème brûlée, tiramisu, dark chocolate, caramel, and salted flavors, and every single one was amazing. You can really taste the quality in the ingredients, and the textures are perfectly creamy and rich without being too heavy. Clearly I got too excited and didn't take any pictures (twice now!), but that just means I'll have to go back again. Definitely one of the best ice cream spots in the city.

Banana bananza, orange cardamom and salted caramel

I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not full. I was able to sit on the bench. Ice cream was very creamy and delicious. Orange cardamom and salted caramel were my favorite flavors. Candied ginger and mango swirl was a seasonal flavor and had pieces of ginger. Earl grey and chocolate were good flavors. Banana bananza was a vegan flavor, and it was ok. I generally dont like vegan flavors.

Got 2 flavor scoop in a sugar cone. My dog likes the vanilla. The caramel swirl was good. Service was good and there was little to no wait on a Friday night compared to other places around.

Stopped in for the first time since there was no line and I understand the hype. I wouldn't wait more than half an hour for ice cream but it was very good. We got the flight and what I really enjoyed was that the flavors were spot on no question about what they were. We got earl grey, caramel cookie, banana, and sesame. The ice cream was perfectly thick and creamy and I'll be back anytime there isn't a line!

Not overrated at all this place's ice cream is so good! They have so many inventive flavors and they allow samples! It's right next to Dolores so wonderful location to grab some and sit at the park. And there seems to not be any abismal lines like garden sometimes gets! One of the best ice cream places!

It was a hot day in SF, so ice cream was in order. Wandered over to Bi-Rite and the line wasn't bad at all. I opted for the seasonal flavors (lemon cheesecake and Moroccan salted caramel) in a cup. Yummy! The staff were super friendly and we were able to find space to sit on the benches outside.

I've heard all about this place, and the treats were delicious! The store itself is adorable, with a fun neon sign and a fair amount of seating. It felt like a cozy neighborhood ice cream spot. The store was empty on a weekend evening, which was surprising. As a result, the service was extremely fast. The ice cream tasted really high quality, with a natural richness and smoothness. I especially enjoyed the soft serve, a refreshing swirl of sweetness. Bi-Rite had some really unique flavors to choose from, including roasted banana and black sesame. The ice cream cakes looked so tempting - definitely need to give them a try! The store also had lots of pints of ice cream to buy. I loved my visit and can't wait to try more ice cream flavors next time!

I'm always hunting for spots like this because I have a weakness for those over-the-top, Instagram-worthy desserts that look like diabetes in a dish. Like most places in this genre, A Buttercup is small, modern, and minimalist with limited seating. If you plan to go, aim for off-hours unless you enjoy waiting in line for sugar. The decor is cute and trendy, perfect for photos if that's part of your dessert ritual. As they say, "you eat with your eyes first," and when it comes to presentation, this place definitely gets an A+. The desserts look stunning and set high expectations. Unfortunately, that's where things started to crumble. It's like going to see your favorite artist live. You've watched the videos, memorized the songs, and paid for the experience. But instead of the electric performance you imagined, you get someone lip-syncing and barely connecting with the crowd. That was this place in dessert form. We ordered the Mango Bingsoo on our first visit, and when it arrived, we were surprised by how small the portion was. The guy next to us even looked over and said, "Whatever that is, I'm getting that next time." He shouldn't have. The Bingsoo looked great but was bland, and the "snow" was more chunky ice than soft shave. The Thai Tea Roti was also not what I expected. It came with Thai tea ice cream and sauce alongside a roti that was fried to a crunch. Interesting idea, just not the best execution. The sauce and ice cream needed a stronger Thai tea flavor to balance the crispy roti, and the flavors never quite came together. Overall, A Buttercup nails the aesthetics but misses the flavor. If you're here for the photos, you'll be happy. If you're here for the taste, you'll leave with a full camera roll and an unsatisfied sweet tooth.

I appreciate that the cookie itself wasn't overly sweet. The store is larger than it looks with some seating along the sides and back. I opted a small cup of the lychee black tea and auntie Kendra's garden. The lychee black tea was INCREDIBLE, strong, strong tea and fruit flavor, perfectly creamy, and not too sweet. The more memorable of the two, however, was definitely Auntie Kendra. It was a vanilla base with salty plum juice, passion fruit, and preserved lemon peel. The delicate vanilla, the lemon aroma without the sour tang, the floral, exotic passion fruit, and the unexpected punch of salt and earthiness from the plum juice, this is a WHOPPER of a flavor. Every bite allowed me a new appreciation of the layers of flavors in this scoop. While a bit pricy, Garden creamery is on par with the other local ice cream spots in SF and well, the flavors and my enjoyment of them speak for themselves. I will definitely be making more trips out here to try their other flavors!

Kiss of Matcha is a dessert café centered around matcha-based drinks and Japanese-inspired sweets…read more We walked into a cozy, compact space with a focus on matcha flavors, offering everything from soft serve and parfaits to lattes, hojicha drinks, and small desserts. The concept works well for anyone looking for a place that treats matcha as the main ingredient rather than just adding it as a trendy flavor, and the energy of the shop stays calm and inviting, making it a good spot for a focused dessert stop. The biggest highlight is the matcha soft serve, which has a stronger tea flavor compared to many sweeter matcha desserts. We ordered a cup and found the flavor leaning slightly earthy and bitter, giving it a more authentic matcha profile while still staying creamy and approachable. The Kiss of Matcha Parfait is another standout, combining different textures with matcha, toppings, and dessert elements that make it feel more complete than a simple scoop. The layers of the parfait were well composed, with the matcha soft serve, mochi, and crunchy elements coming together in a way that kept each bite interesting. The hojicha options are also worth trying if you prefer a roasted tea flavor that is smoother and less intense, and the hojicha soft serve offered a warm, toasted note that contrasted nicely with the brighter matcha. The menu has a nice mix of drinks and desserts, with items like croffles, mochi, and dango adding more variety beyond the usual matcha latte. The croffle is a good pairing with the drinks since the crisp texture works well with the richer flavors, and we found it held up well against the cream and toppings. There are also non-matcha options like vanilla soft serve, which makes it easier to visit with a group where everyone has different preferences, and the variety across the menu gives you room to explore beyond the matcha offerings. The space is smaller, so it feels more like a quick dessert stop rather than a place to spend hours. Seating is limited, but the cozy decoration and outdoor seating options make it a comfortable spot to enjoy your order when space is available. The indoor area is thoughtfully arranged, and the outdoor seating adds a nice option for warmer days. Service can vary depending on how busy it gets, but the overall experience is centered more around the quality of the desserts, and the staff are friendly and efficient when handling the flow of orders. Kiss of Matcha is a strong choice for matcha lovers looking for desserts with a deeper tea flavor. The combination of quality matcha, creative dessert options, and a cozy atmosphere makes it a spot worth returning to, especially if you enjoy trying different matcha creations. The balance of authentic flavors, thoughtful presentation, and a relaxed environment makes it a destination for a more intentional matcha experience.

The texture of the ice itself was light, airy, and not too sweet, which is perfect for me. The passion fruit glaze added that depth of fruity flavor and honestly this large size was more than enough to share with 2 people. Parking: it's hard to find around the area, so good luck. The shop itself is small and you can't really eat inside but they have tables outside you can enjoy. I will be back for more and bring some friends to check it out!!

A very accurately named store! Can't go wrong with shaved ice for dessert, no matter the weather…read more They have so many flavor options that literally cover an entire wall, with a plethora of toppings too! All of their flavors sounded good, and I wish I could sample all of them. I ended up going with the Valencia in a regular size so I could avoid decision anxiety; this was a preset bowl of horchata shaved ice with different toppings that was exactly what I was craving. My friend got the other preset option, Cereal Killer, which tasted just like fruity pebbles ice cream as promised. It looks like a lot when first presented to you (like so high and so fluffy), but as you eat it, the toppings start making the ice sink lol. A more manageable portion size after that :) Their shop is small with not much waiting room besides a bench against the window, and I think most people go to their outside tables to eat their shaved ice. Not super ideal for cold windy evenings like when we went, and we huddled in my car to finish them. Definitely mind any shaved ice that might topple over the edge when you first dive in since they pack it real tight. Worth your moola! I will absolutely come back to try other flavors and still order a regular just for myself :)
