This is a cute ice cream shop! Branding is cute & inside is well-lit with a good variety of seating. The pricing is very fair for small scoop (2 flavors)! Service was friendly and quick! I got roasted banana and black sesame; both very good, especially the black sesame which was a nice surprise cause it's hard to get right. The ice cream texture is thicker which I like but not "chewy thick" (which is the best imo haha). It did melt pretty quick which is my only complaint. Sweetness levels were just right! And there's a large variety of flavors! Worth the visit with a big group to please everyone!
Tiny little creamery near Dolores park with a very artsy aesthetic. They have a good selection of flavours, not overwhelming to put one in a decision paralysis - but enough to sample a few options before making up your mind. I sampled the orange strawberry sorbet, salted caramel and the black sesame. Went with a scoop of the black sesame which was delicious. Black sesame is generally a favourite of mine - but the salted caramel was nice too. Both flavours are good for people who don't like their desserts too sweet. Service was efficient and friendly.

They also have a fridge available to purchase pre-packed pints as well. There is seating indoors if you're lucky to snag a table in the air conditioning, but otherwise Dolores Park is right across the street so it's a quick walk over to enjoy your ice cream in the park.
Heard good things about Bi-Rite so had to check it out while we were in the Mission District! It is conveniently located right across Mission Dolores park. We went around 8:30pm on a Saturday and it was a little busy with some limited indoor seating available. They had interesting flavors and we sampled a bunch - ended up getting a flight of the following four: Honey Lavender, Orange Cardamom, Cookies and Cream, and Piña Colada (vegan). We all liked the Honey Lavender, Orange Cardamom, and Cookies and Cream! The flavors stood out and satisfied my sweet tooth. My personal favorite was the Cookies and Cream. The Piña Colada tasted a bit too strongly of alcohol, so personally I wasn't a fan, but that was my bad as I didn't sample it beforehand. Overall, tasty ice cream with a good variety of flavors. I would give Bi-Rite a 4.5, rounding up to 5 since I enjoyed the ice cream. Would come back when in the area!

The staff were super friendly and patient, which made the whole visit feel welcoming and relaxed, even with a line. The shop itself is cute and has that classic neighborhood charm. I had the crème brûlée, tiramisu, dark chocolate, caramel, and salted flavors, and every single one was amazing. You can really taste the quality in the ingredients, and the textures are perfectly creamy and rich without being too heavy. Clearly I got too excited and didn't take any pictures (twice now!), but that just means I'll have to go back again. Definitely one of the best ice cream spots in the city.

Not overrated at all this place's ice cream is so good! They have so many inventive flavors and they allow samples! It's right next to Dolores so wonderful location to grab some and sit at the park. And there seems to not be any abismal lines like garden sometimes gets! One of the best ice cream places!

The store was empty on a weekend evening, which was surprising. As a result, the service was extremely fast. The ice cream tasted really high quality, with a natural richness and smoothness. I especially enjoyed the soft serve, a refreshing swirl of sweetness. Bi-Rite had some really unique flavors to choose from, including roasted banana and black sesame. The ice cream cakes looked so tempting - definitely need to give them a try! The store also had lots of pints of ice cream to buy. I loved my visit and can't wait to try more ice cream flavors next time!

oh bi-rite, you have my whole entire heart. this staple of an establishment very well may top the chain of sf ice cream. their rotating new flavors always are a hit, and the ones that stick around are flawless. there's almost nothing better than grabbing a couple scoops and walking right across the street to mission dolores park to watch the sun set over the skyline. the crème brûlée, roasted banana, and tiramisu in particular have nearly drove me bankrupt. not to mention the peanut butter and cookies and cream. it is practically impossible to not enjoy this place. everyone i've ever taken has left in awe, and i will never abandon my spot as a loyal patron. i love you bi-rite read more

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I wasn't particularly blown away by Bi-Rite. The service was okay, though I felt a bit rushed by the employee despite there being very few people in the shop when I visited. They allow you to sample up to three flavors, and I ended up choosing the black sesame and crème brûlée. Unfortunately, both flavors felt a bit muted to me. I was especially disappointed by the crème brûlée since my scoop had very few of the crunchy caramelized bits that make that flavor special. I was also expecting a richer, creamier ice cream given the reputation, but it tasted fairly standard to me. Of course, texture and richness are subjective, but overall it didn't quite live up to the hype. read more

Bi-Rite is another staple of SF ice cream. I really like how many unique flavor pairings they offer which can be very fun to try! I got the orange cardamom and the birthday cake this time. I especially liked the orange cardamom as it was very refreshing and bright! My girlfriend also always likes to get the caramelized banana topping with her ice cream, which Bi-Rite does so well. Kiddy scoops, always! Love that they have this smaller kids scoop option when ordering (and they don't put an age limit on it!) I got the creme brûlée and it was the perfect sweet treat after a savory dinner! Super attentive service and they are more than happy to hand out samples. Came here on a weekday night and there were quite a few people sitting in the ice cream shop along with a long line coming in after me and my friend. There were plenty of fun flavors to choose from, including basil, olive oil, black sesame, and piña colada. My friend settled on their Tiramisu and Crème Brûlée, while I got their Pumpkin Cheesecake and Mint Chip flavor. All these flavors were delicious and rich; the Mint Chip ice cream had a strong mint taste and aftertaste, and the Pumpkin Cheesecake was perfect for the autumn season. read more

Absolute OG ice cream spot in the Mission District of San Francisco that has stood the test of time for almost 2 decades. Fresh ingredients, unique flavors such as Balsamic Strawberry and S'mores, and a welcoming staff have made this place a favorite among locals and visitors. You'll be lucky if you drop by and don't see a line here, but the service is quick, so it moves pretty fast. We love their salted caramel, peach cobbler, and crème brûlée flavors. My daughter also likes their fresh strawberry popsicle. There's not a whole lot of space inside to eat, so you'll see that most people do a grab and go. Can't add anything more than what folks have already said over 10K reviews. So I'll just say this - at a time when newer ice cream spots have popped up all over the Bay Area with innovative flavors and better ambience, Bi-Rite still remains a must-try for all ice cream fans.... It's been several years since I have tried Bi-Rite and they have really expanded past their small storefront. We got several flavors - honey lavender, black sesame, salted caramel, blueberry and tiramisu. They have a decent amount of seating so we sat down and enjoyed our ice cream. Always a nice spot to stop and get ice cream when in the Mission. Friendly service. Stopped by this week and was thrilled that they had FOUR(!!!) dairy-free/vegan flavors to choose from. Almost every ice cream shop I've been to will have a maximum of 1-2 df flavors at any given time, so this was a veritable cornucopia of options. Haven't been here for ages but I dreamily remember getting my pumpkin ice cream fix here years ago so here I am. Choosing between pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin spice was hard but the decision had to be made. I got the creme brulee and tiramisu ice cream with hot fudge. They were both great, so creamy and full of flavor. The creme brulee was rich but not overwhelmingly sweet. There was a little bit of the bruleed sugar too! I will say the one off putting thing about the tiramisu is the ladyfingers. They have a weird texture when mixed in and it felt oddly chewy. read more

The flight consists of 4 flavors of your choice. I really enjoyed all the flavors but the black sesame was my favorite. Definition of old reliable. 1. I haven't been in years but Bi-Rite lives in the back of my mind and is still as good as I remember. 2. Upon looking into the case, all of their flavors sound delectable. We sampled the pain suisse croissant (collab with Le Marais), creme brûlée, and roasted banana and ended up getting these flavors. 3. The creme brûlée wowed me and is one of the best bites of ice cream I've had in awhile. It's sooooo good. It's creamy and perfectly sweet and the caramelized sugar is crunchy (!!!) - such a perfect dessert scoop. 4. The roasted banana is literally that - a rich and deep banana flavor, I don't know how they do it. If you're someone who doesn't like fruit flavored things because they can sometimes taste artificial, this is the total opposite. Just try it. 5. I also love that they source local ingredients and focus on small batch production. read more
Whenever one of my friends visits from out of town, we always end up at either new (to me) places or places I haven't been in a long while. This ice cream shop belongs to the second category, but it may as well be first because we both had fun trying new flavors. I had a small scoop of balsamic strawberry and a small scoop of olive oil. I forgot what she had, but it was delicious. I usually just like Vanilla ice cream, but these two were interesting and tasty choices. nothing good about enjoying ice cream when employees are so disrespectful and rude. came today and wanted to finally try this ice cream spot out. after hearing wonderful things, i couldn't wait to try. ice cream was good. however, the employees on the other hand is a major red flag. Especially this one woman, shown in the picture, gave me tremendous attitude and looked like she didn't want to work there. we asked to tryout samples and she got really impatient and started rushing us. we were a party of three and she mistook us for a party of 2. we ordered together as a group and she thought we didn't get anything so she stared weirdly and left. ice cream was good, service was horrible. running a good business means nothing without good service. this ruined my first time experience. def would stick with Clancy's in the east bay!! read more

A great location right across Dolores Park but the line can get long. All of their ice creams are made out of dairy but I was most intrigued by their "buffalo milk soft serve". Of course, I had to try it! Service was friendly and there was indoor seating. The soft serve was delightfully smooth and THICCK. It felt heavy on a cone when the worker handed it to me. Subtle taste and no aftertaste. This makes you want to continue licking the ice cream. Very unique! read more
It's National Vanilla ice cream day . I went on a Summer Mission stroll to what better place to grab some gourmet Vanilla ice cream and the #26 in the World best place (The Daily Meal) for ice cream a half block away from Mission High School my old high school. I remember when this Bi- Rite ice cream first opened. Now it's almost a tourist trap with food tours and all but that is okay with me because this place got flavor. My favorite flavor is vanilla because it is a clean canvas and the vanilla ice cream can be made into many different variations of flavors it is an art form . Every scoop of vanilla is amazing. I also tried their trash ice cream from a collaboration with Shuggie's Trash Pie + Natural Wine called the Carrot Cake Extravaganza in the Mission . I went nuts over the walnuts which are upcycled and still good but not for sale at supermarkets. Bi-Rite is a stones throw away from Dolores Park to enjoy one of the world's best ice cream. Don't forget to get a sample of one of the best ice creams in the world. Come to Bi-Rite any flavor you can't go wrong but right take a lick and a bite they taken ice cream to a new height this is located by Mission High by Mission Dolores close to Dolores Heights they sell single scoops flavors or you can go on a Mission and catch the ice cream flight They say this Shuggie's ice cream is trash but it is a gem it has carrots it's made with good walnuts not from the trash from the strike just a bit overripe in collaboration with famous ice cream Bi- Rite this is the type of ice cream you can enjoy because it taste so bright you can wear your sunglasses and shades in SF at night read more

Tried the Salted Caramel, Crème Brûlée, Tiramisu, and S'more's. The Salted Caramel was amazing and is a must get. It has a great burnt caramel taste. Creme Brûlée was arguably as good (but would probably recommend Salted Caramel if choosing just one). The others were good, but not at the same level and not something I would order again. My friend and I stopped in here for a quick ice cream treat when I was traveling through San Francisco this fall. Let's just say I have heard a lot of praise for their salted caramel ice cream and wanted to see for myself what the fuss is about. As always, I fully stalked the page before I even set foot in the establishment. This place is a cute little ice cream shop with some room to sit around, nothing too crazy. The girl at the counter was friendly. I decided to add spiced pecans as a topping to my scoop, and that was easily the best executive decision I have made in a long time. I did really love the flavor of the salted caramel. It was a perfect balance between salty and sweet. The sweetness of the ice cream was not sharp or hit you in the face, but rather deeply developed like a good caramel. My one complaint would be texture. I expected this ice cream to be much more creamier than it was. I even felt like there were pieces in my scoop that seemed a little icy. This could be down to personal preference, but it's no big deal. This ice cream shop is definitely a San Francisco institution and being located right in downtown. It is a must stop in anyone's Bay Area itinerary. read more
