Located inside a small shopping mall in Little Tokyo, Sophie's crepes was one of the many dessert shops to stop by for a sweet treat. The line moves pretty fast and for about $10, I left feeling pretty satisfied. We got the strawberry nutella crepes with cream and it tasted exactly as one would expect, which was delicious! The only thing I wish they had was more seating.
Sophie's crepes have interesting combination of flavors. I had a mandarin ice cream crepe here previously and it was delicious. I like the fresh fruits and ice cream inside the crispy crepe. Service is efficient and friendly. Located on Webster and Post.
mmmm sophie's .... I've been a reoccurring customer at Sophie's -- their crepes are always quite cripsy at the top then soft as you go down -- and overall, delicious. You can't miss Sophie's as it's across Marufuku and makes for a great dessert after a savory meal! You come in, order at the register, and wait briefly until your number is called- which takes typically around five to ten minutes for the crepe to made. They're usually quite quick imo.. I always get the E on the menu, which is an vanilla ice cream crepe with strawberries, chocolate, and whipped cream! Normally, I stick with vanilla but my friend and I decided to try cookies n cream for an extra dollar and wowwwww .... it was honestly heavenly... The strawberries are always very sweet and juicy, and there's always the right amount of filling without causing anything to spill. Inside, there's honestly not too much seating -- there's a couple tables and chairs so you'll have to find seatings outside but Sophie's relatively cozy and cute to visit. Definitely a stop worth making. ^_^

I come to Japantown very often and I always pass by Sophie's Crepes, so I finally checked it out this past weekend. It was later in the evening, and luckily they were still open. I got the #8, strawberries and Nutella. The strawberries were juicy and delicious, and they put a good handful of them in there! The crepe was soft and crispy, but I wish there was more nutella. Aside from the crepe itself, the service was fast, cleanly, and the store is spacious even though it's not very large. Lots of room for people to order and enjoy their dessert.
My favorite crepe place in the US- gives Japan a run for their money! My favorite item to get is the mixed fruits and nutella crepe. Love the strawberry, banana, and kiwi combo, and they stuff the crepe full of fruit to the end. The crepe skin is also so thin and crisp, but still strong enough to hold everything together- what a masterpiece. You can order via QR code. Took around 5-10 minutes for our 4 crepes to be ready. Paid parking in the Japantown parking lot.

The line was fairly short for a Sunday lunch hour, which was a nice surprise. - Strawberry & Nutella Crepe -- a freshly made hot crepe filled with sweet strawberries and Nutella, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that really tied everything together; moist, refreshing, and a great mix of warm and cold textures with a crispy edge Service was fast and friendly. There are a few tables inside, though the space is mainly focused on their crepe and ice cream counter. Lively ambience especially on the weekends. Fun fact: they've been at this Japantown location for over 25 years! Definitely a perfect afternoon treat while exploring Japantown. Next time I'll have to try their matcha ice cream with red bean.
Standard crepe. It's the upstairs one by the bookstore, stationary, udon place. It's a bit on the dry side but it's crispy and the ice cream makes everything better. With so many sweet treats around Japantown I haven't been back in a while so it was good to try it again.
01.03.26 Came around 9pm on a Saturday night, looking for a tasty dessert. Staying not far made it an easy evening walk down the street. Located upstairs inside a shopping center, it felt like a mini mall experience. I liked it was open later than most spots and the center was bustling even at 9pm. With other eateries around, like ramen and yakitori, I could easily see myself coming back to try other spots. Anyways, hubs & I walked right in and there wasn't a line to order at all. It didn't take us long to figure out what we wanted....banana & Nutella! It came with whipped cream and didn't take long to get, maybe 10min or so. It was cool to watch through the window them making our order, and when it was done, we were able to grab one of the many tables in the "courtyard" common area in the middle of everything. It was cool to people watch and look at the other restaurants. It was a nice little quick spot to grab dessert, and it hit the spot perfectly!!! Definitely hope to check it out again if ever we return to this area for another SF stay.

The cost is around $9 depending on what toppings or combinations you may prefer. The counters are clean staff. There are two tables inside but also seating outside.
Had this after having dinner in Japantown and it was just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. You're able to scan a QR code at the store to place an order, which I recommend because you're able to customize your crepes easily. We waited about 10 minutes for our crepes after ordering online I got a crepe with strawberry, banana and whipped cream and my boyfriend got a strawberry, banana and nutella crepe with vanilla ice cream. The crepes were generously filled with toppings, but the actual crepe is extremely thin and gets soggy pretty fast. I wish it was a little thicker and crispier. I'd definitely recommend other crepe places nearby over this one, but if you're in the area and don't want to drive to get dessert, this is open relatively late and will do the job

THE BEST CREPES!!!!!!! No joke, best crepes ever. From east coast to west, this is the absolute, hands down, best crepe spot. Nestled in the heart of Japan town's shopping center, right next to the bookstore- Sophie's crepes is. Very small bistro seating is available, but this place gets pretty busy. They have an extensive menu of both simple and layered flavors. The crepes here are thin and crispy, and come in a very cute crepe holder when served. I always get the strawberries and banana with Nutella, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The crepe won't last long, you'll eat it right up. My partner opts for a strawberry and whipped cream option, with raspberry jam- simple in comparison to my order. Sophie's is always our starting point in Japan town, and once you've placed your order, you cannot revise it. Make sure you hold onto your number, you'll need to provide it when your number is called. Enjoy, a must try in SF; even if you just go to Japan town for this one thing, trust me, it's worth it. read more
It's been a long time since I last visited this crepe shop. With so much competition in San Francisco's Japantown, I wouldn't say the flavors here are particularly impressive or outstanding. That said, the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering how generous the portions are. Love Sophie's Crepes since they opened! No matter how many crepe spots I try in the city, nothing has beat Sophie's Crepes even after 25 years! Service is what you expect at most of these crepe spots: quick and efficient! They seemed to have a way of cleanliness so they will not touch your paper ticket since they keep their hands clean for making the crepes. You just order, pay and the other workers start making the crepes through the glass window! Great show for the little ones and adults too! My usual order is the mixed fruits with banana, strawberry, and kiwi surrounded by ice-cream. Even the plain vanilla ice-cream is super tasty. Vanilla is not a flavor I would normally choose but it blends well with the fruits making the whole crepe balanced and lightly sweet! They are also more generous with fruits compared to other spots when you get fruit pieces until the last bite. The crepes are comparable in prices to other places like Genki's, but maybe slightly more expensive. Definitely worth it and highly recommend Sophie's Crepes! read more
We always pass Sophie's Crepes while wandering through Japantown and finally decided to try it out. We got the mixed fruits and whipped cream crepe (should've just gone for the nutella base instead). Both of us were pretty disappointed. The crepe was 95% whipped cream, and 5% fruit. There were MAYBE 3-4 thin slices of each type of fruit (kiwi, strawberry, banana). I thought they'd at least pack it *a little*. If I wanted to eat that much whipped cream, I would've just gone to the supermarket and bought a tub. It'd be a third of the price. Also the crepe itself was just simply not good. This is the whole basis of the product they're selling! It was cooked for way too long and was more like a cracker than anything a crepe should be. Crepes should be thin, delicate, pliable, and have just a little bit of bite still when you pull on it with your teeth. Sure, sometimes the edges can be a little crisp, but it should never be CRUNCHY, like ours was. In terms of service, pretty fast when there's no line at the counter. I think we waited about 3-5 minutes for our order. No seating inside, but there's mall seating with tables and benches right outside. read more
I usually get the fresh fruit with whipped cream, and they are really generous with the amount of fruit! The crepes are served fresh, hot, and crispy really good balance between the crepe and the cold fruit and whipped cream. Also tried the ham, cheese, and veggie crepe and really liked it! Not too salty and lots of fillings. It can take a while for them to make, as it's made to order, and they can get pretty busy during the weekends read more
Come for: ice cream crepes! Know that: toppings can be really pricey I love Sophie's Crepes and have been coming for years. The place is a no frills, simple experience. Walk to the register, place your order, watch your crepe maker make it fresh, and enjoy. I ordered a black sesame ice cream crepe with mixed fruits and was very happy with it. The mixed fruits topping did cost almost half the amount of the crepe which I wasn't too thrilled with, but it did make the crepe a lot better. I forget which ice cream place they source theirs from but the black sesame one was really good. Crepe came warm and crispy as always. Overall, you can't go wrong with a dessert stop at Sophie's after a day walking through J-town. Service is fast if not busy, but they do frequently have a line. Parking is easy inside the garage. We had lunch in Japantown and ended it with dessert at Sophie's Crepes--and it was so worth it! The crepes were freshly made, warm, and absolutely delicious. Ours had ice cream inside the crepe, which made every bite even better--such a perfect mix of warm and cold. It was a sweet treat for me, my daughter, and my hubby, and such a nice way to end our meal together. Definitely coming back! read more
Came into JapanTown Center for dinner and wanted dessert right afterwards. Luckily, this place was still open. We saw the long line performing and decided to do an online order instead. When your order is ready, they will call you. We got ours in less than 5 mins. We got the banana and Nutella crepe with vanilla ice cream. Pretty good and the prices are reasonable. read more

One of the few places in SF where I can get lunch for around $10. I bought the chicken salad with pesto sauce crepe today with taxes for $10 something. They also have a loyalty program through Toast where you can get a discount after spending $50. I haven't tried their sweet crepes yet and they also sell ice cream. I highly recommend the savory chicken salad with pesto crepe! There are tables outside in front inside of the mall to sit. read more

Brings up so many childhood memories! So glad I'm still able to get these crepes every-time I'm in japantown! Love the crispy yet pillowy crepe with the whipped cream and mango sorbet.. such a good dessert after either udon mugizo!! 10/10 !! Will come back everytime !!!! read more
I am so glad this place is still here as I have been coming here for many years. It has always been a great place to get dessert after lunch/dinner at the many restaurants around here. It is located on the 2nd floor near Kinokuniya in front of the stairway. This time around, my friend got the strawberry nutella crepe while I got a crepe with lychee ice cream. After ordering, we waited a few minutes and then our crepes were ready. Such a nice treat! My crepe was warm and crispy and the lychee ice cream was a cool contrast to it. Eat bite was delicious. Customer service has always been friendly whenever I've come here. The crepes, either savory or sweet, hit the mark for whatever you're looking for. And if the smell of the freshly made crepes don't tempt you into getting one - there are plenty of gelato choices for you to choose from as well as sundaes, floats and some drinks. The shop itself is pretty small, but there are plenty of seats outside for you to have your treat - or continue walking around the center. Many of the shops around don't allow food/drinks inside, but you can always window shop until you're done. A must visit shop if you've never been. read more

My first time here and came by on a Thursday night. I liked that it wasn't busy! It was fast to order and I like that there's tables inside and outside to chill at. We ordered a banana nutella crepe and a strawberry nutella whipped cream crepe. We got our crepes super fast! They were very generous with the whipped cream i loved it! Also we had fruit in every bite even when we got to the end there was fruit there too! I do kinda wish the crepe was a bit softer. read more

I dont know much about crepes, but this place smelled so sweet and i could not resist after dinner. I got the simple crepe with a scoop of black sesame ice cream and it hit so nicely. I really enjoyed the warm crepe and cold ice cream. I thought crepe would be sweeter but i think the ice cream could have taken that part for me. I enjoyed it and i think people will too read more
I've been coming here for decades and it's never disappointed. You can't go wrong with savory or sweet. It really depends on what you're in the mood for. I went with the ham and cheese with veggie. The crepe came out in about 15 minutes because it was pretty crowded on the weekends. Totally worth it. Light and crispy on the outside, and warm melted cheese mixed with ham, lettuce, and tomato on the inside. They always have a welcoming environment and I've seen many different employees cycle through. The only downside is that it can be challenging to find a place to sit. Seating is pretty limited. Good thing they are pretty easy to just hold and walk around! read more

While in Japantown this past weekened waiting to get into the udon restaurant, I saw Sophie's Crepes. I was pleasantly surprised, it was still here! As a teenager up to my mid 20s, Sophie's Crepes was always a highlight for me and my friends whenever we drove up from San Jose and hung out in Japantown. We would spend a few hours just window shopping, relaxing, but we would always get a dessert crepe here. I've always got the dessert here, but the savory looks interesting. One friend always, I mean always got the... *Strawberry and Whipped Cream: Plain Crepe with fresh Strawberry & Whipped cream. My personal favorites were... *Bananas with Ice Cream and Chocolate: Crepe with fresh Bananas, Whipped Cream, Choco syrup w/ Vanilla Ice Cream. *Japanese Special: Plain Crepe with Red Bean Paste, Green Tea Gelato, Matcha Sauce, and Whipped Cream. It's a great dessert to end the day. Or in my past experience, a great thing to start your day of fun! LOL. Congratulations on serving the community since 2000! Come check them out! read more

When asked for a cup to get water, they charged me $0.48 and gave me a cup and told me to get water from the water fountain outside. The water fountain was out of service . So I went back to let them know. Someone looked like manager or owner told me, you can buy a water ，，we normally don't give out water here. I said but I got charged for the tiny paper cup. She then got me some water without simile , hello ? Will not be back for the service . Not to mention the ice cream scoop was from someone else already melting a bit when they handed to me . read more
Sophie's Crepes really hits the spot and satisfies my sweet tooth. The gelato is my favorite part, so I like that I can get it as a sundae. It was busy (as expected), so we used the online ordering method, but tbh I think ordering at the counter may be quicker. There wasn't really too much of a line inside compared to the amount of people waiting around outside for their order. Next time, I'll try ordering inside and see if that makes a difference, but the dessert is great either way. Was the perfect way to end my evening. read more
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 They're known for their crepes here, but we were super full and decided on just gelato for dessert. We were able to sample quite a few flavors (many of them Asian-inspired) and I decided on the pistachio and lychee flavors. Sooo good! read more

Got a strawberries crepe and it was so good! Crispy crepe with ice cream, whip cream, chocolate sauce. I think I prefer Nutella , less whipped cream and a lighter ice cream next time. It's pricey but that's not surprising for SF. They have a no gloves policy and use bare hands only. I don't know how I feel about that. read more

Totally agree with Monica T's answer. I love Sophie's Crepes because they are partially crispy. To me, Belly Good crepes were too soft for me, better for a brunch crepe on a plate vs. an ice dessert that you hold in your hands.
