As you can see from my first review six years ago...it's been a while. Actually it's probably been longer than that I've been happily here. Even with Mike retiring and Jason (I think that's his name who has worked together with Mike as long as I remember) taking over, it's the same great food, same fun servers and same cozy atmosphere. As a sushi addiction I've probably tried listening to of the sushi places around but still eat here quite regularly. Favorite dishes - all of them! Wonderful local Sushi and Hibachi little restaurant. The service staff is very friendly and the owner knows how to plate amazing dishes. The small Size of the restaurant promotes diner conversation which I really enjoy. It allows my wife and I to hear from other locals about all kinds of subjects. The Udon soup is a bargain. We recently ordered for take-out. On the plus side, the salad was fresh, the sushi rice was good and the servings generous (15 pieces of sushi in the sushi deluxe). On the negative side, the price charged was almost 25% higher than the price of the menu we ordered from and the fish was uninteresting. We complained about such misleading practices and were told the restaurant has multiple websites with different menu prices. read more

This was the sushi spot that got me through the pandemic. When most faltered due to high costs and low availability, Sushi Fans had just what my family needed to keep us satisfied until the other establishments resumed normal operation. The quality of their dishes never dropped. Many to go sushi spots are less than desirable but not this place. Was looking on yelp for a new sushi spot to try. This place had good reviews so we gave it a shot. I won't eat at a sushi restaurant with less than 4 stars as there are better options. Upon entering, I was not impressed but kept thinking about the previous reviews. I pretty much had to convince my wife to stay as the place could use a makeover. We started with edamame, which passed the (her) test. We then had the sashimi appetizer which was also good. We then had a selection of sushi (tuna, salmon, eel) as well as a celebration roll. Great drive-by sushi option. Pew pew pew. Fresh tasty fish and mostly helpful staff (one young kid was absolutely conscripted into service against his will). Wasn't crowded and we experienced speedy service on a Thursday night. Dining room was pleasant and relatively compact. Yum-yum roll / lobster roll seems to be the way to go for an easy win. I've been going to the same sushi place in Wellington for awhile now and I was in the mood to try something new. I ordered take out from sushi fans cafe. I wouldn't really recommend this place to dine in as it's tiny and dark inside, but the food was delicious! The fish all tasted fresh and had great texture, the seaweed salad had a little kick in it which was different and delicious. Really like this local gem. Have eaten in the restaurant twice, but order from DoorDash a couple of times per month. The interior is kinda small and it's a bit dark. The service both times was great. Not anything particular that I can point to other than attentive and fast. What sets this place above is the quality of the food and the reasonable prices. Everything I have ordered, from the Salmon Nigiri to the soup and Yakasobi Noodles with beef was delicious. The prices are considerably cheaper in the restaurant or by pickup than with DoorDash, but that's normal. Among the best sushi restaurants in the area. read more

My daughter was craving sushi. She recently moved back home from salt lake. There are quite a bit of great sushi places there. Takashi being one! So, we were on a mission to find really good sushi. We were having a tough time until we fell upon Sushi Fans Cafe. My daughter ordered a salmon hand roll. For $4.00 she received a hand roll with three pieces of salmon in it! She said it tasted so fresh. Then she had a shrimp tempura roll. Delish. I ordered the Goyza soup. Unbelievable! If had four dumplings in a rich broth with loads of onions, broccoli, green and red peppers for a mere four bucks. Seaweed salad, also very reasonable - was fresh and just wonderful tasting. Also, tuna tataki appetizer was yum... My daughter can't wait to return. Prices are very reasonable too. Oh my gosh! UPDATED REVIEW! Mike and his team are absolutely phenomenal. I have never been there and had a bad meal. When there is such consistency, I'll become more daring and try other dishes. This has become my favorite sushi place in Wellington. They have a great selection, their Hamachi is good quality and size. Prices are very good compared to other places around, and quality is better. I take out from here a lot as well. Service is fast and efficient. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. I called last-minute because Google told me they closed at 10 when they actually close at 9 (maybe just because of Covid?). Anyway, even though it was 15 min to closing they still gladly accepted my order and were very pleasant. 5 stars to the staff. The low review is because I ordered miso soup and it was aaalll broth. I order miso soup at every Japanese restaurant I go to - it's my thing I look forward to. I love miso soup probably too much. But their miso soup was just ... bean curd water? I'm not sure how to describe it. Only 2 bites of seaweed, barely any tofu, no mushrooms and no scallions. It was just a cup of barely-flavored water. :( I'm hoping it was because I was so late. Maybe that's all that was left? It might have been my fault for going so late. I'll try again and post another review at a later date. I'd also like to say that I requested tofu be added to my veg fried rice. The girl misunderstood me on the phone and made the order "egg fried rice, NO veg." I REALLY wanted veg. And the tofu was just ... scrambled? I guess? Like, usually it comes in cubes from Asian restaurants but this was just a train-wreck of egg and tofu all mixed together. I had those ingredients at home. If that's what I'd wanted, I would've just made it. We went for dinner and I had heard great things about the sushi here which were true. The sushi everybody else ordered was great. I ordered a red Thai curry which clearly was a mistake because it came in a mystery brown sauce tasting like bland chicken stock and nothing like red curry which is one of my favorite dishes. this was awful. other people tried it and agreed. The cook offered me more sauce and I asked for maybe curry paste or flavor added. They gave me more sauce but it had the same bad flavor. I talked to the waitress and she said it has nothing to do with her, sat back down on her iPad and wanted me to pay for it without offering a different dish or a red curry sauce or really anything. At least a salad or something. I asked her again that this is nothing what I have even seen before for red curry and if there is a chance to send it back and replace it or get anything else. she said plain said no and was not nice about it at all. So I ended up paying for food that I couldn't eat because I was stunned by how rude she was and was still hungry and beyond upset about the non existing service. I have never left a bad review for any restaurant before and I don't like to complain but I also don't appreciate rude service and no attempt to give me something eatable. So my daughter and I went here the other night. There were only a few people there. St down at a table for 2 and we're given menus and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We did water... our staple. Now service is a little slow. Not terrible, but slow for only 6 people in the place. We ordered the gyoza, ramen and the super yummi roll. The gyoza was steamed and although had good flavor, wasn't hot enough for me. The ramen we asked for spicy, but it was anything but. It lacked flavor and the seafood was lying on the top and wasn't anywhere else in the dish. The yummi roll was actually pretty good. The fish was fresh and it was enough to feed 2 people in my opinion. I would go back, since it's convenient, but wish the ramen was more flavorful. I will also be trying some other kinds of sushi. As we left, the place started to fill up. All in all, pretty decent. read more
