The restaurant was busy for a weekday evening, but the host handled the wait list smoothly and got us seated close to the estimated time. The pork chops were cooked well and had good flavor without being overly seasoned. I also liked that the Caesar salad tasted fresh and balanced out the heavier meal. Our server was attentive in a natural way and checked on us enough without interrupting conversations every few minutes. Food timing felt well paced from appetizers to the main course. A 5-star rating says a restaurant has great food, service, and ambiance. Kaluz was perfect in all categories when I visited for lunch with a friend. Before we could open the door to the restaurant, a hostess held the door open and warmly greeted us. After passing through the beautifully appointed dining area -- which includes several large, exquisite orchid plants, a lovely water fountain and dazzling overhead lights -- we were promptly seated at a bright booth near a window. The server fully explained the specials, took our drink orders, and gave us time to peruse the menu and enjoy our outing. I ordered the chicken quinoa salad with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. In addition to the greens, it included corn, dried cranberries, rice and almonds. It normally includes feta cheese, but the restaurant was out of feta, so I opted for goat cheese. The salad was fabulous! My friend had the South Beach chicken club sandwich, which included bacon, avocado, swiss cheese and alfalfa sprouts on multi-grain bread. It came with a large side of thin fries. My friend said it was one of the best club sandwiches she's ever eaten. The fries were well-seasoned with salt and pepper, almost to the point of being overly salty. Since we were celebrating my friend's birthday, we ordered the banana cake with vanilla ice cream. It was warm, moist and simply to-die-for. It included a delicious chocolate-hazel nut icing, shaved coconut, and caramel drizzle. In keeping with the top-notch service, our server included a lit candle in the cake and politely refrained from singing. Other small, but great service gestures included replacing the wet cocktail napkins under our water glasses to keep the condensation from causing the glasses to drip and continually refilling our glasses throughout our meal. The manager also stopped by to see how we were doing. And I received a survey shortly thereafter to gather even more feedback about our experience. Clearly, Kaluz cares about its diners. I live in Miami and well, I'm just not impressed by Wellington. I had an appointment up here and decided to meet a friend for dinner. This spot came highly recommended. Mmmm, why? It reminded me of an upscale Bennigan's (throwback, wink-wink). The space is vast, I mean there are fountains in the middle of the restaurant, but it's more style over substance. I will say that the server was excellent. He seemed very well-trained. The food . . . just doesn't match the aesthetics. I guess this is a great spot for Wellington. As a South Florida foodie, this is barely average. Oh yes, I had a Belvedere Martini, crab cakes and steak, I think. We had a very nice dinner here on Saturday. It was a last minute meal so we didn't have reservations, but we were seated in 20 minutes. We started with the meatball appetizer, which was tender and accompanied with a rich and tasty marinara sauce. The dressing for the wedge salad was delicious. My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at Kaluz, and the experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish. An absolutely fabulous meal that nearly didn't happen because there isn't enough parking. We were tempted to leave the car at the restaurant next door or the bank across the way because who wants a total stranger valet parking my car and touching my steering wheel? And don't forget the disclaimer that they are not responsible for damage. This was nonsense and in the end, we drove around the cones and parked in the reserved valet area. Nicely assembled sandwich on a whole grain bread with sliced avocado and chicken and more. The cole slaw was a massive portion but I didn't eat too much as it was quite sweet. For dessert, we split a piece of their amazing key lime pie. One of the things I miss from moving back up north is nicely made key lime pie and this was great with a thick crust and that great tart taste that you can only get in Florida. I know that there is no posted dress code like they have at some finer restaurants, but wow! Shorts and tshirts? Come on, people. This is fine dining. Try to show even just a little bit of class? I picked up food for my family on Easter. We called ahead and tried to pay with a card over the phone, but they wouldn't take payment that way. When we arrived, the parking lot was full and we had to park at the restaurant next to Kaluz, which was a bit of a walk. They have valet, which limits the already limited parking lot. The food was ready upon arrival and the host explained the extra dressings were inside the containers. It was a pretty quick and smooth pick up. When we got home to eat, the chicken in my sister's salad was burnt and my niece's grilled chicken was chewy. My sister called Kaluz and they were nice enough to refund us for this meals. Absolutely delicious. We came here for a birthday and loved every item. The brussel sprouts appetizer was such a large sharing size, I would order it every time now. My dad enjoyed his prime rib, and my mom loved the Key Lime crab salad and was so intrigued with the key lime vinaigrette. The fact that they have a happy hour on the weekend is a Chef's kiss! I was pleased with the selection of drinks on the happy hour menu. My go to drink is usually a lemon drop martini and it did not disappoint. I had the crab cakes and flat bread. The food was tasty. It it was a nice ambiance and lively on a Saturday night. This is a hotspot for sure! We had a late dinner reservation on Saturday night- 8:30 pm. Lots of patrons were waiting outside for their tables. We valet our car which was gratis, and waited. The first table by the bar became available and we agreed to take it. Brian was our waiter. He was great. He got our orders correct and checked in on us often to make sure we were happy. We started with an Old Fashioned and a glass of Meomi. Paul had a perfectly cooked sirloin steak which came with a loaded baked potato. For an additional eight dollars, he added a wedge salad. He absolutely loved it. I had the recommended grouper with sautéed broccoli and I shared Paul's baked potato because it was extremely large. Since it was late, I didn't want to have dessert, even though the dessert list looked very enticing. I would've had the New York style cheesecake because there aren't that many places around that serve that lately. The venue is beautiful with an amazing open kitchen and very modern fixtures and decor. I have never been there where it's not busy. Since we were alone, it was OK but if we were going with other people, it would be hard for us to talk. We came here for happy hour before a concert - my friends got a booth in the bar area so that was nice. A beautiful venue for sure! Very contemporary! I thought the happy hour menu was quite limited but we ended up with ceviche, guacamole and chips and a crab cake. We also got a vodka and soda and a Stella. Coming here on a busy Saturday evening at 7:30 pm, especially Valentine's weekend, seemed like a poor choice due to how busy they were but our reservations saved the day! We sat down in their outside patio quickly and placed our drink order. For me the Oman 14 scotch neat and my beautiful wife ordered an espresso martini for a pick me up. We then ordered the steak meat balls in chunk tomato sauce and would recommend them to anyone. While visiting the WONDERFUL Wellington animal conservation center (a must visit for kids and adults), we looked for a place to eat that was close. The menu at Kaluz stood out. We arrived just as they opened at 1130am. Surprisingly, the restaurant was already fully staffed. We took a seat outside as it was a beautiful day. Our waitress Tara came to greet us. We explained this was our first time here and any recommendations would be welcomed. Immediately she gave us the run down of the restaurant. She let us know everything is made in-house from scratch, even the sauces. Also all cocktails were scratch made, no store bought mixers. My friend and I were open to suggestions as everything sounded so good. Tara asked if we wanted to put in the kids order and get that started right away while we decided. I appreciated this very much. My daughter also didn't want to decide on one thing, so she got the chicken fingers and fries as well as the pasta with red sauce. We were able to pick out what cocktails we wanted first. I had the spicy watermelon margarita and my friend had the Key West Rickety. Both were amazing and were perfect for our pallets. Then we ordered the Brussel sprout appetizers and the octopus appetizer. It was very difficult to narrow it down to just two. I personally feel that Brussel spouts for an appetizer is kinda weird. They seem more like a side dish. The menu does state they are tossed in a garlic aioli. They tasted AMAZING! Next time I will ask for the aioli on the side to dip them in, as it was a very big portion and we had to take them home and I'm not sure how they will reheat. But 10 out of 10 for the Brussel spouts. I'll get them every time. The octopus..... I love octopus. But this, hands down, was the top 3 octopus dishes I've ever had. Tara explained how the spicy aioli with the pico really enhance the flavor. I was skeptical because good octopus shouldn't need anything else right? So wrong. Eating the octopus, with the pico, and the sauce all as one bite did some dancing on our pallets. The sauce was so good I dipped a few fries in it as well. I could eat that sauce on everything! The octopus was on a bed of roasted potatoes. The potatoes were very good, especially in the sauce. But I didn't feel that they added anything to the dish like the pico and sauce. My daughter got her pasta and chicken fingers with fries. She was a very happy camper. We did try her food and it was really good! You could tell even the chicken tenders were made scratch. The batter was very tasty. My daughter said they were the best French fries she ever had. The pasta was corkscrew pasta, which the menu didn't specify. So when it came out she didn't want to try it, as she only likes spaghetti. But we tried the pasta and decided not to send it back because it was so good and we'll eat it for a late night snack. I ended up ordering what Tara said her favorite meal there was - NY strip steak (medium) with truffle butter, creamed spinach, with an addition of a crab cake. My friend ordered the salmon (rare) with the wild rice and asparagus. Most restaurants never cook the salmon the way she likes it done. But this was cooked perfectly. The rice was technically long grain rice with some wild rice. The asparagus was perfect. My steak was an absolute perfect medium. The butter did not have a strong truffle flavor and was more herby. We all would 100% order everything we ate again. Although it would be hard not to try new things, as everything there was impeccable. Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the food was amazing. It was a great experience, something I feel restaurants lack nowadays. We made a reservation for our anniversary on Kaluz' website. Valet available and a few self parking spots. Greeted by friendly hostess upon arrival who advised our table was being set up. Decor is creative and sexy from the ceiling lights to the ponds with mini water fountains in the dining area. We were seated at our booth which felt intimate especially with the dim lighting. It did get pretty rowdy though with the bar crowd. Our lovely waitress Lindsey came over to take our drink orders. I decided on the pink cloud cocktail. Refreshing pineapple and vodka taste in every sip. We then moved on to the ginger calamari appetizer which was sweet and savory with the chili glaze and garlic aioli. For my entree I opted for the seafood pasta with scallops and shrimp. It was creamy and Cajun flavored in every bite. The portion was generous and I had to request a to go box. We were too stuffed for dessert but Lindsey was so sweet and brought us an anniversary ice cream with chocolate drizzling. I managed to take a few bites and it was the perfect treat to end our night.
