If you're looking for a top-tier happy hour spot in Torrance, Sushi Gone Wild is a must-visit. We decided to sit inside this time, and the vibe was perfect--lively enough to feel like a night out, but still relaxed enough to actually enjoy a conversation. Happy hour is Mon-Thurs 11:30am to 2:30pm and 5-6:30pm. The highlight of the experience was easily the service. Our waitress was incredibly nice and attentive; she was quick with the drinks, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we sat down. It's rare to find service this warm and efficient during a busy happy hour. They started us off with a bowl of edamame at the table to snack on while we looked over the menu, which was a great touch. We ended up diving deep into the happy hour specials: * Fried Shumai: These were perfectly crispy with a savory, tender center--definitely a great way to start. * Tiger Eye & Heart Attack: If you like bold, flavorful rolls, these are the stars of the show. Both had a fantastic kick and were plated beautifully. * California Roll: Sometimes the simple things tell you the most about a place, and this was fresh, cool, and hit the spot. Food is okay, not the greatest. The 2 star rating is for the woman (skinny Asian or Latina- not sure what race but it doesn't matter) server she is not courteous and has a terrible attitude and she doesn't seem to change after so many times we've been here. We found a better place across the street who has better selection of food, big plates too and staff is more friendly and attentive. It's funny how things work out. We won't be coming to this place anymore, instead we will now go to Sushi Fusion. read more

As much as I wanted to like the restaurant, I am afraid to say I didn't like it. It felt extremely stuffy inside. I also thought the table and the furniture were not clean. I just felt heavy while I dined. Fish didn't taste fresh. I unfortunately won't go back. read more

A super little hidden gem! Food is great, they have amazing combo specials and fabulous service. There's parking on either side of the restaurant and that can be a little tricky finding it but once you found it, you'll go back again and again. read more

12/26/2025 Update It's a great place to eat. It's very popular. The tables are not big so if you're a big group make a reservation. The service here is great from the cooks, sushi chefs, waitresses. They work extremely hard. The sushi is delicious and well made. The other food, 'tiger eye and yellowtail collar' are amazing. The tempura is always hit and crunchy. Super small and cozy restaurant.. You can definitely hear everything all at once.... We ordered a bunch of rolls..sushi and sashimi. It seemed to be taking a while..then we discovered they were bringing it all at once. The sushi was super fresh and the cuts of fish were generous. They also didn't pack on tons of rice which I really enjoyed! read more

Take some getting use to unique hours. Great customer service. Self seating unless the inside is packed. Rolls were pretty good. I wish the crawfish was slight larger. I've been to many crawfish festivals in AL, NO and MS and the meat from the tail os larger. Interior is dated, but at this day in age you make it work. Multiple tvs playing sports and news. Server checked on me every time she walked by I love how how the chefs say, SEE YOU TOMORROW!!! with the biggest smile! read more

Went to SGW to try their Happy Hour Specials Menu. Great deal. During Happy Hour, you can get certain Nigiri with 3 pieces for their normal price for 2 pieces. The fish was a good size and quite good. The tempura's was nicely fried. Service was very friendly. read more

Service is good here, parking was weird for me. Not sure where to park and ended up behind the restaurant. But the walk was good since I overstuffed myself. The ponzu sauce here didn't feel very lemony. And the fish tasted a bit bland...weird, maybe the rice needed to be more seasoned more? I guess it's good that the fish didn't taste or smell fishy. Though, one of my rolls did taste a bit fishy. And the rice was much too hard. It made the rolls less enjoyable. I would come back but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for this place. I have mixed feelings about this place. Good but not good. Maybe I need to give them another try. ps...their warm rolls are MUCH better than their cold rolls. The rolls with crab meat tasted better, probably because of the mayo as extra lubricant for the dry rice. read more

Great neighborhood casual sushi spot! I usually go to Hoka Hoka, Sushi Time, or Coco Sushi, but this was great for a nice change of pace. I appreciated the complimentary steamed edamame upon sitting down and the friendliness of the staff. They also have lots of small rolls that are more interesting than most sushi menus. It gets super busy on Friday nights and weekends so prepare for a long wait including an hour for to-go/online orders! I was able to walk in and be sat quickly however on a recent Monday night. read more

Cute little sushi spot in Torrance. The wait staff were very nice and the food came out very promptly. We got five rolls. My husband enjoyed the spicy tuna a lot, and the tempura Cali roll was amazing by . I wasn't thrilled with the chicken teriyaki rolls . The taste wasn't as flavorful as I was hoping for . The edamame was a little cold and limp . My daughter enjoyed her salmon plate though a lot . The seating area is small with a few tables inside and out . Would def come back though. read more

Both rolls were good. Good taste and fresh. But I have an issue with the aloha roll. I don't know if they're trying to be slick or just cheap, either way it's no good and a bad look...the aloha roll is supposedly supposed to be topped with tuna, mango and avocado. If you're going to do this, normally it should be layered on top of each other. They actually (as you can see in the photo) don't layer it on top of each other. But they put it side by side. So what this does it basically give you just a shriveled piece of tuna on each roll. And they hide this by putting the avocado and mango side by side next to it. So basically you're getting 66% less tuna on a roll that's supposed to be basically a tuna roll. read more

Really delicious and fresh sushi! I came with a group of friends last week for a weeknight dinner. It was my first time eating here even though I have passed by and seen this place for years. The outdoor seating was nice, although the night was a bit chilly it was warm and cozy at our table with the space heater. I really like their variety between traditional and specialty rolls and the prices were decent. We came during happy hour so that helped too. Nifty, cozy sushi joint with swift and friendly service. "See you tomorrow" is the phrase here because locals call this spot awesome and frequent here more than they visit their own fridge. Our first time, and it was memorable. The Mr. ran into an old friend, and we struck up conversations with everyone around us. It's easy to do when the sushi is yummy and the sake is flowing. I kept it legal because I was driving, but that didn't stop me from chowing down on a Dynamite and Super Crunchy Roll. The Mr. ended up loving my super crunchy roll, so I kinda had to fight him for the last couple of pieces. I always order the uncomplicated tasty stuff. Mr. Kim was a superb host - I can't wait to visit again. Parking is plentiful around the back. Note that there is no back entrance, so plan for a short walk around to the front of the tiny restaurant. Sports playing on the TV screens. Locals singing Mr. Kim's praises and the sushi is delicious. This place is a bit out of our 10-minute periphery, but it's absolutely worth the trip. Still can't get real crab in a California roll (they only have blue soft shell crab), but we didn't miss it (plus I'm trying to ween the Mr off California rolls, I mean, come on! Ha ha.) Nice people. Been here twice now. Fish is fresh and well portioned. Their Spicy Tuna hand roll (if you like hand rolls) is exactly as you'd like it to be. My first time here and it was better than I expected. This is probably the best priced sushi bar/restaurant I've found so far for the quality of food they serve. One person can have a very fulfilling sushi or sashimi combo meal for about $20 - or even less. The place is quaint and fun. And I bet the happy hour is even more poppin! The servers were so polite and nice, we were given a free bottle of hot sake just because one sushi order was a little "late" (we only waited an extra 5 minutes which was no big deal at all). The sushi chef seems like a fun-loving guy not to mention talented with the knife! I highly recommend this place especially for locals. read more

This place is good, has a dog friendly outdoor patio and the prices of the roll are very good! This place would be a solid 5 star but I docked a star because it took 30-45 minutes for the food to come out. It's a bit long for me but they were incredibly busy with takeout orders so maybe they prioritize those. I got the sushi combo and asked for them to sear it. Highly recommend!! I love seared sushi. The other 2 rolls we got were good as well. We got a roll without rice, I think it's called ninja something ... and that took 45 minutes to come out. This place is very decent sushi restaurant. It has authentic flavors, however, a lot of the sushi is not uniform and sometimes the menu can be confusing (there are two different kinds of crunch roll and we were confused the difference between them until we saw the physical rolls). The sushi tasted fresh and the sauces weee slightly overpowering but I enjoyed my meal otherwise. The vibes of this place are hilarious, the owner is always saying "See you tomorrow!" and the workers are all smiling. The service was amazing too. I wish the rolls were more differentiated and melted in your mouth more. However, the udon was decent and comforting and the beef teriyaki was a bit salty. read more

Tired of skimpy rolls and small pieces of sashimi near my home in North Redondo, I headed south to H Mart to grab some monster rolls just like my kid used to bring home. Nope. No more H Mart sushi. Okay, shifting gears, let's go try the Mexican place nearby, I've heard they have good mole. Whoa, not so fast! Yelp shows a decent looking sushi spot very close to my current location. Boom, it's Sushi Gone Wild! No, there are no Girls Gone Wild there, but in this case, the sushi was enough. A smallish place, it delivered some big fish (and drink!) Delicious coarse filtered sake and on-draught Sapporo, drinks covered. Large cuts of delicious sashimi - yes! An assortment of tasty rolls (and reasonably sized, not the post-pandemic micro rolls like many places these days.) Service was fine - quiet, nondescript but serviceable and efficient. Mr. Kim the owner is the best Korean sushi chef in the world! And he is hilarious! This joint has a decent Happy Hour menu. We order the $11 Sapporo pitcher. That's so awesome! The service was decent. The nice server did check on us but she never refilled our water. The rolls, on the other hand, were very tasty. We ordered the Tiger's eye from HH menu. This was very good. We also ordered two rolls. One was a salmon roll and the other was that of an albacore. They were both delicious! They were both aesthetically pleasing and tasted so good. My bf and I were very satisfied with the rolls we ordered. We plan to come back to try the other rolls. Sushi Gone Wild is my favorite sushi spots in South Bay! I like their tiger eye roll, caterpillar roll, their shrimp crunch roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Unagi Roll, their salmon teriyaki plate with rice, and their chicken teriyaki with mushrooms and veggies and rice! Their tiger eye is super flavorful its kind of small so I usually order two of them, they are about the size of a taco. The tiger eye comes with scallops, imitation crab, green onions, fish eggs, salmon, and its mixed together in a sauce. the sauce is so really good its super flavorful - omg their salmon is so is super moist and it goes really well with the sauce. for some reason the salmon they use in the tiger eye tastes so much better than the salmon they use in their salmon plate it probably has something to do with the sauce. If you are looking for something healthy I would go with their salmon teriyaki plate with rice, and their chicken teriyaki with veggies and rice! I love that the salmon has a crispy skin. This is my first time ordering from Sushi Gone Wild. I like that I get a good amount of yellowtail in my yellowtail roll. And the Monster roll is a big size too. I always look for sushi that is close to my work so I am happy I found this place that gives me a good amount for the price I pay. Delicious too! read more

On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.
