So so delish! My friends and I came out to eat. Our group had the Curry Pork Cutlet, Curry Chicken Cutlet, Beef Curry Udon Noodle Soup, and the Hamburg Steak with Ponzu. I personally had the Hamburg Steak with Ponzu Dinner plate. It came with Miso Soup, Fresh Salad with a very refreshing sauce, the Hamburg Steak, and a side of rice. I also got a taste of the pork katsu curry and it was nice and flavorful. Overall, absolutely amazing flavors and well worth the price. The server was very sweet and checked in on us to male sure everything was going well. Today, I got the Yellowtail Nigiri ($7.50), Albacore Nigiri ($7.50) and the Chicken Cutlet & Tempura Combo Dinner Plate ($28.90). Everything was delicious. Yellowtail is my favorite but their Albacore was outstanding. The tempura were good size pieces and fried nicely. The chicken was a thin cutlet with a crunchy panko exterior. Definitely use the Tonkatsu sauce with the chicken. Also, kudos to their miso soup that really had good seaweed flavor. Service was very friendly. There is a single row of parking out front with additional parking on the CPK side. I went on a Wednesday at 17:00. No issues on getting seated. This place is so much more than an Izakaya & Sushi. They are the exception of the rule of restos with a huge menu. Its a one-stop shop for all Japanese food. They have a little bit if everything, Katsu-Don Curry, Yakitori, Soba, Sashimi and even my nemesis Natto. Eeew Never had a bad dish here, all fresh, homemade taste. Sake is good, and they usually carry various japanese beers not just the big 3(Sapporo/Asahi/Kirin). Legit one of my fav spots, great place to take friends & family if they want to try something else other than Sushi rolls & ramen for the first time. Parking lot has plenty of parking right up front. Iccho is open for lunch from 11:30 - 2 during the weekend. They have a lunch menu but will make anything that is on their dinner menu. My husband was craving a plum musubi. It was huge - the size of his fast and looked great. It must have tasted great as well as it quickly disappeared. My husband ordered the Iccho lunch special - miso soup, sashimi, tempura and cutlet with green salad. I ordered the mackerel plate with miso soup, rice and salad. Our friend ordered the chicken cutlet curry which came with a large salad. You know that it's authentic Japanese curry when it comes with fukujinzuke (pickles). Service was great. I've been coming to Iccho for at least 25 years. This was our family favorite, as it was close to my childhood home and it offered just about every Japanese dish under the sun. It's a hole-in-the-wall with different sized tables, booths and a sushi bar. It can get busy during peak hours, and they have a waiting list sign-in sheet to mark your spot in line. They're located in the Rolling Hills Shopping Plaza off of Crenshaw and near CPK. Plenty of parking is available in the shared lot, but it tends to fill up fast. My go-to dish is their nabeyaki udon. It comes in a hot pot with all of the usual suspects, but my favorite item that they include is one piece of mochi! So delicious! The broth is not as flavorful as other broths that I've had, but overall it's very tasty. I also often get the yaki onigiri, which is basically a grilled rice ball. That's also one of my favorites! They don't offer happy hour, but their beers are often reasonably priced. On my most recent visit, I got a 16 oz Sapporo draft for just $5. Service is hit or miss depending on how busy they are. They usually start off strong, but mid-way through your meal you'll likely have to flag them down. My family of 4 came to this place for the second time. The first experience was just ok, so we decided to give it another try ordering different food. 2 dinner plates came out on time. The other 2 orders were just udon soup with tempura. It took them about an hour just to bring out the soup, and didn't even come back to check if everything was ok. Very poor service. I have never had anything made less than delicious. The service is excellent. Usually there are 2 waitresses and they work extremely hard. A throw back old school Japanese restaurant. Our family loves Iccho and goes there regularly. However, there are certain dishes that we prefer over other dishes there. Our favorites are the Tempura, Oyakodon, Chicken Katsu Curry, Saba plate, Yakitori Don and Sashimi. The beef teriyaki tends be a little tough and dry and the Udon is pretty standard. They are understaffed so service is sometimes slow, but the staff is very friendly and nice. If you order by phone, the order is normally ready within 30 minutes and I have never had any issues with my order in the 50+ times we have ordered takeout. All in all, we love this place and I highly recommend. read more

I came here with a large party of 8 and ordered a bunch of food for the table. We got sashimi platters, sushi platters, udon, hot pots, nabe, and yakitori. Everything was delicious and portioned well. I especially enjoyed the chicken and fish nabe. The broth was very mellow and light, and it felt really healthy to eat while also being yummy. read more

I have been a regular at Iccho from over 30 years ago and I keep giving this neighborhood restaurant a chance to redeem themselves. Back in the day the Teri Beef was so awesome and so was the Teri Chicken. I don't understand the reasoning behind the purchase of such low grade beef and chicken. The beef has gone from 1/2 inch thick to card board thin. This last time I ordered, the beef was the last straw!! How did it leave the kitchen like that onto my table?? The meat was horrible! This beef was literally the color of cardboard, dry like that too!. I was so so disappointed!! When? has beef ever looked grayish white? Either this meat was frozen for a long long time or it was reheated, wow. There was no flavor, just the sauce! How does it leave the kitchen like that?? I don't know why the buyer or the owner of this restaurant keeps buying such low grade meats with all their Japan customers, I don't get it. They are just skimping too much! Do not order the beef teri! The chicken Teri is just as bad, geez! Its like scraps of chicken! The end pieces I rarely eat and leave behind on the plate! Its so terrible it almost looks like leftovers from someone elses plate they didn't want to eat! Come on man! So sad, this restaurant could be so much better but the owner just doesn't want to put the energy into it. I believe I got combo B which was $19.95 and you can pick a protein out of beef teriyaki, salmon, and yellowtail. They have other combos with different protein choices. I came here for lunch on a Sunday.They have a lunch and dinner menu.No yakitori for lunch, so knowing what you want is important...I was a little disappointed since I was craving yakitori when I walked in to the restaurant. The combo came with plenty of food. However, I think the oil they used to fry the tempura was old and needs to be changed... I didn't feel the best after the eating the tempura. It came with with 2 shrimp, sweet potato, broccoli, and a zucchini. I enjoyed their tea. It was Hojicha, which is my favorite. The employees were very nice. Definitely a super special place. The fish karaage was delicious. I like eating the crispy finer bones too. Plenty for 6 of us! The spinach -which I usually skip, thinking it will be boring- was so tasty due to the black sesame paste. The octopus in the sunomono- how do they infuse so much depth of flavor? It tasted smoky, almost. My mom got an udon- my sister had a bite, which made her order one too. I tried the broth: so perfect! The mackerel and sashimi were solid dishes as well Wanted to try the ika appetizer but everyone was full from eating way more than usual. We will have to try it next time. There is usually a bit of a wait to get seated but its definitely worth it. This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to - I feel like they have so many options and do them all really well. My favorite plate to get here is the katsu curry. The curry is super thick and flavorful. I love how there are bits of cooked-down veggies in the sauce. This is one of those small businesses that deserve your patronage. I have to admit that I've only had 1 item from here so far, so I'll have to come back another day to try something else. Otherwise, what I had was pretty decent. Location: Crenshaw Blvd in the Rolling Hills Plaza. It's right next door to Smoky Joe's BBQ and a nail salon. Parking is a huge private lot. I had the clam and garlic udon noodles. This was pretty good and not as salty as I expected it be. Plenty of clams, but where was the garlic? I couldn't taste it. I asked my dining companion (who ordered the same thing I did) and she said she couldn't taste the garlic either. I didn't even find a garlic bulb in it. Huh. Odd. Either way, the soup was perfect for a not so hot day and I left feeing full and satisfied. Summary: Seating is on the patio (front and back) per COVID regulations, but I suggest you sit in the front to avoid getting a whiff of the garbage can with the wind shift.
