Grilled Yellowtail Collar and bento combo

Always have such good service here! The food is great and I highly recommend the grilled yellowtail collar as a starter!

Came here with a friend post-Pilates and honestly couldn't have picked a better spot to unwind. The yakisoba was fire, perfectly charred, great flavor. The no rice roll was simple but the fish quality spoke for itself. No notes. Service was genuinely warm and attentive without being in your face about it. Good food, good vibes, good company. We'll definitely be back.

5/5 - Absolutely Incredible Sushi Experience! I visited Yamashiro Restaurant in Redondo Beach, and I am honestly blown away. This is hands down some of the freshest, highest-quality sushi I've had in the South Bay -- maybe even in all of LA! From start to finish, every dish was beautifully presented and unbelievably delicious. The sashimi platter was perfection -- thick, buttery cuts of salmon, tuna, scallops, octopus, and more. You can literally taste how fresh everything is. The Amaebi (sweet shrimp) was so delicate, and they even served the shrimp heads crispy, which was amazing! The appetizers were just as impressive -- * Crispy baby squid with a creamy dipping sauce * Refreshing cucumber salad * Perfectly blistered shishito peppers * Fresh mixed greens with a bright dressing * And the grilled yellowtail collar... SO juicy and flavorful! The long wooden nigiri board was stunning -- every single piece was melt-in-your-mouth good. The quality, presentation, and flavors are truly next-level. You can tell the chefs take pride in every detail. If you're a sushi lover, this place is a MUST. I can't wait to come back!

This is easily one of the best sushi spots in redondo beach! My boyfriend and I came for dinner once Friday night and immediately were greeted with the most friendly staff almost immediately from the moment we walked in the door! The ambiance was so cute while they were playing early 2000s music! The food its self is some of the most fresh fish I've tasted while being here! I highly recommend this place as a staple sushi spot here! I can't wait to go back already! (:

Loved the Negi Toro with fresh wasabi. Had 4 of them. Hamachi (yellow tail) was good as well. I will be going back.

    Salmon Double Double

Delicious! The prices definitely reflect the quality. My salmon was delicious and fatty! For appetizers we got Shishito Pepper and the fried squid. I got a Salmon Double Double and my husband got a Caterpillar Rolll. I got a piece of halibut to try and it was also very tasty and fresh. Portions are small but the service is great, the food is fresh, and its easily accessible next to plenty of parking.

Great service, delicious food, beautifully presented! Perfect for a special occasion...Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Not only are the sushi and other dishes fresh and delicious, the service is excellent. The beer tower and sake (they have a great selection) washes the sushi down very well!

I really enjoy coming to this sushi restaurant. The owner/host is always so kind and attentive and happy to help. And it's just a nice place to get away to for lunch, with some yummy food. I like to try different items each time I come and I've enjoyed everything I've tried thus far. I really like restaurant itself; the outdoor patio is a nice spot to eat and the booths inside are comfy.

I went for dinner with my bf at around 8 pm, and we sat down pretty quickly as it was relatively empty. This is my second time here, and the service is always fast; the servers are nice and attentive. It's a nice, cozy spot with light music playing in the background. The owner (I think was the person who spoke to us) was so sweet and informative regarding the food and drinks. We got an albacore double-double roll, which was excellent and had a nice crunch on top. The star of the show was definitely the sushi burrito! My boyfriend finally convinced me to try, and it is a must-have. It's light and flavorful, definitely recommend. Overall, always a great experience when visiting & recommend if you're in the area !

We were seated immediately with no wait during dinner time, and there's a large free parking lot, so getting in and out was hassle-free. The skewers were good overall, but one thing to note is that they don't have that smoky, charcoal-grilled flavor. If you're expecting a traditional yakitori experience, just keep that in mind. What we ordered: - Momo Kizokuyaki - 7/10 A classic choice. The chicken was juicy and cooked well, but it leaned a little under-seasoned, so it didn't leave much of a lasting impression. - Teba - 6/10 Chicken was kinda dry but seasoning was good. - Harami Beef - 7/10 The beef was tender and cooked nicely, but it also lacked a bit of seasoning. Good texture, just missing that extra punch of flavor that would've made it memorable. - Karaage - 8/10 My favorite dish of the meal. The portion size was just right, and the chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and well-seasoned throughout. - Soboro Don - 8/10 This reminded me of an elevated Yoshinoya beef bowl--in the best way. It had richer flavors, better-quality ingredients, and the fresh ginger added a bright, flavorful contrast that tied everything together. Beyond the food, the service really stood out. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, respectful, and attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant was also spotless, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I'd definitely come back. While a couple of the skewers could use a little more seasoning and that signature smoky flavor, the friendly service, clean atmosphere, easy parking, and solid food make this a spot that's worth checking out.

We arrived right at opening (5:15 PM) without a reservation. We were told we could sit if we left before 6:30 PM because of a later booking. Since we were just having a quick dinner (4 adults and 1 child), we agreed. However, the terrible hospitality started immediately when she forced our group of 5 into a tight 4-person booth, making us extremely uncomfortable. Throughout the meal, IYA made us feel incredibly unwelcome, constantly rushing us and giving us dirty looks. Even though we were well aware of the time, she aggressively pushed the dessert menu and called for "last call" at 6:00 PM just to kick us out faster. When we politely asked for extra broth, she snapped that there would be an extra charge with a terrible attitude, then literally slammed the dish down on our table. The absolute worst part was her handling of my Service Dog. As someone who legally requires a service animal, I had my dog right next to me. Without even asking if it was a registered service animal, IYA rudely and aggressively demanded that I put the dog on the floor. Her complete lack of education, empathy, and legal understanding regarding service animals is deeply concerning and discriminatory. If you work in hospitality, basic manners and knowledge of service animal regulations are mandatory. IYA was incredibly rude, ignorant, and unprofessional. The chefs are visible. The staff is plentiful. The music is good. The atmosphere feels like the kind of place that understands hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience never quite came together. The first challenge was the temperature. The dining room felt more like a sauna than a restaurant. To his credit, our server Arthur worked hard to help and eventually got management to increase the air conditioning. He was easily the standout of the evening and did everything he could to salvage the experience. We ordered extensively, including the $130 Ise Course. Some of it was quite good. Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. One of the signature dishes of the course ended up being one of the weakest. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
