i go to the sushi hana in richmond at least once a month. i decided to go to the one on mason because my friends live closer to it. i wasn't a big fan of how our waitress hovered around our booth while we decided which rolls we wanted to order (they had SO MANY options). we got the yellowtail scallion, tuna avocado, salmon avocado, eel avocado, crunchy, and shrimp tempura rolls. YTS was delicious and super fresh. TA, SA, and C rolls are usually my favorites at the richmond location, but they kind of fell flat here. maybe the fish wasn't as fresh or the rice wasn't as seasoned. six rolls and bento box was $60. read more

This is the 2nd time I've ordered delivery from DoorDash for this place in less than a week. It's pricey but by far one of the best sushi places in Katy! Fried rice was awesome, crab puffs were extremely stuffed and super hot, and each roll was a hit. We've stuck to getting the Pink Lady Roll, the New Orleans Roll, the Summer Roll, and the Tropical Salmon Roll. The Tropical Salmon Roll is by far the best rice-less roll I've ever had. Coworkers were raving about this place so I tried it out. The sushi was good, I have had better though. The portions were really good for the lunch special which was a plus. What I did not like was the server/waitress, it was very evident that she was not having a good day or just wasn't in the mood to be at work. That's unacceptable ma'am. Had to wait a while for water refills and she would come to the table and just not even say, would you like more water? She would see the glass empty and just walk away. I went there for a birthday dinner for my friend and family. we had order the 34 dollar cooked sushi combo and picked what we wanted. we made sure to ask the server if this was okay and she said yes all good. so when the food came out she had got it confused and gave us 10 rolls because she didn't explain the sushi combo came with fixed rolls. so we kindly asked her to take it back and she seemed upset and still took it. once we go to the portion of the check, they charged us for each roll but the manger had said oh yall wanted the create your own combo. our bill totaled over 150 dollars. my friends mother tried to ask why it was so much. they started screaming at her saying they are calling the cops, causing her to cry because they didn't want to talk to her about the situation . then we had a nice guest come and help. she paid for our meal to help avoid the cops being called because the manger was being unreasonable. Got recommended to try this place for their rolls so we went and ordered 4 rolls, I couldn't tell you the exact names except for one (hot mama roll). There's just so many rolls and such a big menu. They even had more rolls written on sheets of paper that the waitress handed us, it was almost overwhelming. While I thought the rolls tasted decent and were a good size, the tuna did taste very fishy... fast forward and both my husband and I got food poisoning for the first time in our lives. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out to us at all either. The Hot Rock Beef we started out with was just average quality meat, slathered in butter, and cooked by ourselves on a hot rock. Sushi Hana is a local Japanese sushi spot nestled in the suburb of Katy. My friend Jason always goes with me to dinner here when I'm home for the holidays and it has become our little tradition to get sushi and sake. The food itself is definitely more Americanized sushi (but really, what do you expect in Katy?) so I would stick to the maki rolls as opposed to the nigiri and sashimi. So far we have always had a sushi boat (i.e. the Hana Boat for Two) and it's pretty good. It gives you a chance to sample some nigiri, sashimi and some of the chef's rolls of the day. The chef's rolls are pretty crazy and fattening and not Japanese at all. That being said, how can you say no to a shrimp tempura roll with jalapeno topped with spicy tuna and drizzled with spicy mayo and eel sauce? I highly recommend going to Sushi Hana for that experience alone as I often do not come across many establishment that offers a boat. This location is MUCH better than the Grand Parkway location. Great service, tasty food. The only bad things about Sushi Hana is that the Mason location is a small place, and prices are a bit high. As stated in other reviews, this is normal for sushi places. SH is always busy. We were told we had a 15 minute wait for a table, but were seated in five minutes. My wife and daughter opted for the bento boxes. Excellent tempura and dumplings. They also enjoyed the California rolls. I wanted to get a sushi and sashimi combo, but didn't want to spend $25 for way too much food. Sushi just doesn't keep well as leftovers. At least the bento boxes are a good deal. One thing to note is that SH has two menus (actually three)...lunch, dinner, and specials. Plenty of options available. I ordered a sashimi tower from the specials menu. It was delicious...a pile of sashimi on top of delicious rice with crab meat. I would definitely order this again. I also had the baby octopus appetizer with an Asahi Dark. The restaurant was a little small for my taste but most sushi places tend to be like that. Overall our meals were little bit on the pricey side compared to other sushi locations here and Katy. I ordered the lobster tail my wife ordered the shaggy dog which were two of their more cheaper menu items plus they are favorites of ours. I've never been disappointed with this place, even one time when they messed up the order and I called them to tell them it was wrong, they got my address and sent a replacement order without hesitation, charge only I smile. The food is delicious the service is great. I come here often and order to go often. The Kelly roll with a little bit of fried garlic on top is my favorite.
