What we ordered
Connie H.

Welcome to a Cheesecake Factory level of menu selections without the advertisements. Very reasonable prices- salmon sashimi pieces were a little too thick for my taste -see pic of what we ordered. Service was great- just ring the bell when you are ready to order or get the check etc. No waiting to capture an eye. The chicken teriyaki bento was good with a lot of chicken, good sauce thick enough to stick but not crazy sweet. I got the veggie tempura but the coating was a little too soft and not crunchy. We will prob go back at some point since it's so near our house but with the sheer number of restaurants in Houston, it wasn't good enough to truly stand out in my mind.

This Katy location never disappoints. Even when they're busy, the service is fast and smooth. Shout out to my girl Any for always delivering such great service. The vibes are moody but intimate which i'm a fan of. The salmon sashimi is some of the freshest in the area such thick, rich cuts that honestly melt in your mouth and they practically melt like butter. they don't over promise and under deliver like other places. If you're looking for good sushi and good service, this place actually delivers. Definitely worth trying i promise you won't be disappointed.

Sushi Hana is a must go to for lunch. $13 gets you two rolls and soup or salad. The salad is always fresh, the rolls are made fairly quickly. Everything is always so tasty.

We have tried a lot of sushi places in Houston and after moving further away we really tried to find another Sushi spot but guess what, nothing else comes even close! We are obsessed to say the least. This place will always be our fav.

Button to call for service if needed, but they usually come around

Best spicy garlic edamame around! And I have tried to find it elsewhere but they have the best! The ambience is causal but nice! They recently up their game with robots delivering your food. It was a new fun experience since we had a 8 year old. I love that the menu of sushi has pictures of EVERY roll! Super helpful if if you recently tried a new role but you don't remember what it's called, or if you want to try a new role and you're kind of picky. I eat with my eyes for so if I see it I'm more likely to try it.

Salmon sashimi, Shaggy dog sushi roll, Mt. Fuji roll, and double double roll

This Katy location never disappoints. The service is very fast even when they are busy, the sushi bar is an excellent place to eat and chill out. Salmon sashimi is some of the freshest in town with thick savory pieces that are so rich they taste like an avocado. Shaggy dog sushi roll is good if you like shrimp. Mt. Fuji roll with spicy sauce is my favorite, it comes warm, but has a great flavor like no other. The double double roll has a nice flavor too if you prefer fresh shrimp tempura, snow crab, and avocado. Give it a try, it won't disappoint.

Hana special

Stopped by here for lunch on a random weekday to catch up with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. I will caveat that during this round, I only ate cooked sushi because I'm currently pregnant, so my review isn't quite whole. I did appreciate that they had a special of 5 cooked rolls for $35 which is great for someone with my condition. I didn't have to scrutinize which rolls I could eat and which I had to pass this time. We also tried the Hana special, and the 2 orders was way more than enough for 2 people, especially for lunch. The food was pretty standard, pricing was decent, and service was pretty quick. I did like that they did have some fatty tuna nigiri or sashimi that you could order. My friend said it was pretty delicious, so I'll have to take her word on it. It can get pretty crowded during lunchtime, so I would suggest getting there early to grab a table. Even with the lunch crowd though, service was still quick and friendly.

Sushi Hana is forever going to be my go to Japanese Restaurant. Their sushi is made perfectly. Served in a timely manner and at the appropriate temperature. They have a sushi bar where you can watch them make the rolls if you'd like. My favorite rolls are Charlie Sheen and Shaggy Dog. Honestly, you couldn't go wrong with anything on their sushi menu. We also order their bento box and a small chicken fried rice. The bento box is perfect for one person. It is plenty of food and it allows you to get a little of everything. You can also choose which sushi roll and what kind of rice you'd like. The small chicken fried rice is a big serving. It's large enough to feed one person. The large size could easily feed two. The chicken fried rice has lots of vegetables in it, which was a huge bonus, and the rice was the perfect amount of sticky. Oh, and everything is reasonably priced! They also have a good happy hour too! If you're in Katy, this is the place to go!

Only took one photo but it was all amazing

Always top notch and great service. We always sit at the bar. It's relaxing and the food is fresh and flavorful. We always get the spicy edamame, which is amazing! We love the special fried rice and have tried a lot of sushi and sashimi. Fave rolls are scorpion, Christmas, Sky diver, to name a few. Always love us some Sushi Hana!

It doesn't bother me that it's semi-dimmed and small. The food made up for it even though my back was to the main entrance door. Good parking spaces. There was a waitlist but we didn't wait for over 30 minutes. Best bang for your buck AYCE sushi at $29.99/person and their menu is THICK. Even for someone who is used to sushi, it was overwhelming at first. The tablet made it easier to order without feeling so needy to the already-so-busy servers. Cheaper at lunch time but menu has less options, mainly no sashimi and only ice-cream as desserts. My favorites are chicken karaage, kanpachi sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, salmon sashimi, Cajun albacore sashimi, spider roll, Starbucks roll, baked green mussels, and their mochi (I got strawberry and mango). I got a lot more but those are my favorite and highly recommend for you to try. Final destination sushi rolls are majority of the people's favorite, including my server's. Eel sashimi is on a grill, which was surprising and good. Wasabi was lacking the spice and I'm not a fan of pink ginger but it's an AYCE so not complaining. What I do suggest you to do is to stay away from hot cheesecake and ice cream tempura. Unfortunately, they most likely use the same batter batch with their meats/seafood and they fry it with their seafood/meat oil so all you taste is mainly seafood, which is quite disgusting when you want your desserts to be desserts. I love seafood but that was gross. I still ate the insides. Overall, a solid restaurant for AYCE sushi. I like that the majority of their sushi rolls are half and they don't kill you with so much rice. Plus, you have an option to not get AYCE if you're not too hungry.

The selection is a bit more limited for lunch, but the price is lower than dinner as well. Being AYCE, I wouldn't expect the highest quality, type, and cut of fish, but what they had was pretty solid, tasted fresh, and was delicious. A minor complaint would be they had no sashimi option, even for the tamago which I personally believe is eaten best without rice, but that's just minor stuff considering the good value here. As much as I try to find a reason not to give this place an outstanding rating, if I compare it to the AYCE category of restaurants, it did everything right. They do have a regular a la carte menu, with a selection that looks like a treat in itself. As for me, I highly enjoyed their jalapeno bomb to start. I highly doubt they used snow crab, tasted like imitation crab, but I enjoyed it nevertheless and got another order at the end. I tried a few nigiri while I was here, with eel being my favorite (and thank goodness for no bones, which was lucky because it's eel). Their tacos were an unexpected standout and is worth a bite or two. Using sheets of nori and frying it to it holds up like a shell is pretty genius and more places need to do this. I had a good time with their Burning Alaska signature maki, which has salmon as the main star. The smokiness from torching was a killer! Their curry reminded me of S&B, which might very well be the mix they used. I was a bit disappointed to not see fish katsu as an option considered it's a sushi place, but I can see the katsu curry selection being a good option as a comfort dish. I wish I had the stomach space to try out new stuff, but maybe next time. Wish someone would post a photo of the salmon skin salad, because I'm a bit curious about that!

We genuinely wanted to support them. Unfortunately we could not bring ourselves to continue supporting business where the owner does not have business ethics, or perhaps human decency? (Turn out we are not the first with such unpleasantly disappointing treatment from the owner, and I am sure we will not be the last. If the owner decides to continue being rude and unprofessional to customers as well as treating customers like he is a social justice warrior all righteous and almighty, well good luck) Only if we knew sooner, by reading others' similar experiences/reviews as well as the owner responses to them with such rudeness and sarcasm, we could have prevented it from happening to us LOL
