Sushi House is my favorite sushi spot in the East Bay! I've been here too many times to count, and every single occasion had such great food. Sushi House often gets crowded, so I like the join the waitlist on Yelp before I come. The place is by South Shore, so it is right by the water. The restaurant itself is pretty roomy, but it always has people. In terms of the food itself, I think their sushi is exceptional no matter what you get. You definitely can get full off of their rolls. They are competitively priced, and quality has not failed me. Their service is quick, and so you just need to make eye contact to ask for things. The service was alright, as our table host spoke to us in a rude tone but nevertheless every other server came to check up on us. Food: 4.5/5 This spot has been a really solid go to spot when we are craving sushi. I have tried many different rolls, sashimi, tempuras, and even the bento boxes which have been all great. Their lion king roll is definitely one of my favorites compared to other sushi restaurants in the Bay Area. Their bento boxes are extremely filling and their selection of rolls is unbeatable. Service: 3/5 It took around 20-30 minutes for our first dish to finally arrive. Ideally, I would have loved the tempura appetizer to come out first before everything else, but it came out after our sushi was served. Servers need to smile a little bit more... they should always think that customers keep them in business. But the food is many for 25$. The quality of sashimi and salad are so fresh. For typical Bento box thos is huge and a lot for the money. Unlimited tea. Their drinking water as I measured it was so clean very low in TDS Ppm as if its better than bottled water. Unnecessary Charge! This is to make awareness to everyone to check your receipt before paying. I already paid our bill then realized that we were charged service fee. I asked if that's already the tip but the guy said it's a service fee for large table of 6 or more. I told them that we are only 4 which it is an error. I asked why we were charged service but they couldn't explain. They refunded the service fee, no questions asked but come to think of it, this is not a simple error, they have done it multiple times as my friend experience same way, they were charge when they are only 3. I've been coming to this place for years. I used to live in Alameda on the same street down the way down the block and often I would get The Lion King Roll. I also get other things on the menu but that's what stands out here the most and I've tried other lion King rolls elsewhere but this one has the absolute best like if I'm ever craving it this is where I go to get my fix hands-down recommended and of course it has a view of the beach since it's right there across the street from it. I would avoid going on a busy night or like weekend afternoon but any other time during the week it should be good. Try it out. read more

We had 12 people attending. We sat outside on the patio . The waiter and waitress seem to be very busy. We had a long table with six people on each side. We had all the adults sitting against the wall facing the street and the kids sitting opposite to the adults facing the restaurant. It is really difficult to talk to each other when we are sitting in a row rather than in a circle. So I think for big parties over eight people, Chinese restaurants with the big round tables would be more suitable then everyone can see everyone and be able to talk face-to-face. They only have two or three big round tables seating not more than eight people inside. Because the waiter and waitress have to be running back-and-forth inside and outside, so the service is not as good as desired. Food is still good but total bill is quite expensive over $300 for 6 adults and six kids. read more

We came on Sunday a little after noon and saw many people waiting. We signed up on the Yelp Waitlist, which estimated about a 5 minute wait, but that was completely inaccurate. I then checked in with the hostess and she said our table would be ready in a couple minutes... it ended up taking a full hour. There was a large party taking up most of the tables, which is probably what led to the huge delay. I felt bad for the waitstaff since they were clearly busy, but I think they can set better expectations. The hostess also offered patio seating, but the heating wasn't on, so it didn't sound very appealing for a meal in early January! By the time we got seated, there were almost 30 people waiting to be seated. The food came out fairly quickly. I like that they had the Korean "ade" drink options - the green grape ade was really sweet but it was nice and refreshing. We ordered the Rock and Roll, Lion King, and Bay Oyster. Honestly, I think all of the rolls are extremely excessive and very American. It was impossible to eat one piece in one bite, and the flavors were too mixed for me to enjoy. I felt like the rolls were too carb heavy. I thought the Sashimi Lunch was alright; the fish did not stand out and it did not taste very fresh. The item I enjoyed the most was the Roe Mix, a bowl of rice with uni, ikura, tobiko, and kazunoko on time. Once you pour the sauce on top and mix it up, it's a really great dish with creamy bites due to the uni. Towards the end, it got too salty, though. Overall, I did not have the best experience. Getting takeout from here has been incredibly inconsistent over the last few years. My family has been coming here since before Covid, and it was good back then. Now, we order takeout about every other week, and I order the same hamachi roll for takeout every time, and it also comes out different every time. The roll itself is only hamachi and green onions as listed on the menu, but the green onions always end up either rolled into it, just on top, or not there at all. I know it's a small ingredient, but it's just disappointing when you can't depend on your order turning out the same way every time. read more

The place has so much potential to be one of the top sushi spots in the area considering the location and environment but the employees won't let that happen due to their attitudes. Once you get to the restaurant you MUST CHECK-IN with an employee or else they will not count your sign-up online as valid and you'll have to wait even longer. ---- The quality of service definitely depends on who you get as your server. It's been a toss-up each time I go, but my last time there, Henry was the best server! Super attentive and welcoming, all around awesome. I've been coming here for more than 10 years since I was a kid and it's always been on the pricier side. While the price is a little steep, the portions are pretty large as well. ---- My go-to rolls are the Lion King or the Bay Scallop ($18 each), they are very similar in terms of taste. Both use a California roll base (imitation crab and avocado) with similar toppings and sauces: baked salmon for the Lion King and baked scallops for the Bay Scallop, then topped with unagi sauce (I think). Thai tea ($5) is a good price and size, comparable to boba shops. Edamame ($8), it's just regular, plain edamame, I like to dip it in soy sauce. The taste of the sushi here is of similar quality to the other sushi places here in Alameda. Price-wise it's a little bit more expensive than places like Yo Sushi in Marina Village, and about the same as Yojimbo on Park Street. ---- I don't know if they still do this anymore because it was banned in July 2024, but they used to charge a mandatory service fee in addition to a having tip line, with no explaination of what the service fee was for. It was a bit confusing to see that on the bill and so we tipped on top of that, but later we found out that service fees don't even go to the workers, and is just an additional fee to cover the cost of doing business? Ate here on December 1, 2025 and got food poisoning. Thanks for helping me achieve my weight loss but not like this! I had a beef and salmon bento box along with a few sushi rolls. I couldnt finish everything and took it to go as i felt a bit bloated (thought I was getting full?) The portions were more than usual. Wow, it has been a long time since I have done a review for Sushi House. Looking at all the dates from my pictures, it looks like we come here a few times a year, every year. Quality/Quantity - We just got the following makis to-go today. Tuna - Good, but small in size...? See previous year's pictures and compare. Spicy Tuna - Too mild of flavor. Not spicy at all. Hamachi - Best of the makis; glad we got two orders! Spicy Scallop - Good. Again, I would prefer it to have been spicier. At least this had some spice, unlike the spicy tuna. Salmon Maki - Good. Again in the past, they were larger sizes. Compare pictures. Atmosphere - Indoor and sheltered/heated outdoor dining. Good sunset views if you come at the right time and seated at the right table. You have the option of table or sushi bar seating. They also have 2 indoor TVs in the dining room which plays sports when available. There used to be TVs in the lobby when people had to wait an hour for a table. Restroom maintenance - Ummm, someone needs to follow up on this program, see picture. The good news was that the mens restroom was fine. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm. Limited mall parking. So limited that the Big 5 is still complaining, not that I can blame them... See picture. When the car wash is closed, you should check out the "creative" parking everyone does, including me. Service - Today had perfect service! Glad I am finally able to bump them up to 4 stars. The picture of the hostess is the person who deserves all the credit. She was kind, efficient and accommodating. Thank you. Good ambassador for Sushi House. I ordered a bowl of #10 Don, Dory, and when I got it, it was all soggy and I asked the waiter about it and he said well that's because they pour the sauce all on it. He did not offer to replace it with a bow without the sauce and it was awful.
