This spot has been around for AGES and I'm just now getting around to trying it when visiting my friend in Alameda :D IMHO a solid choice for budget sushi if you're just looking for quantity-- with the sheer size of their dishes, you'll easily eat your fill with only 2 rolls. We ended our double date here. As a walk-in party of 4 (on a weekend!), we only waited around 10 mins before seating, even when the entire restaurant seemed to be full. Service was attentive and friendly. ORANGE BLOSSOM ROLL: SO much fish. These are huge. Not fishy at all (albeit not the freshest ever), decently balanced flavors. SAMURAI: If the Orange Blossom was huge, this is gargantuan. Trying to eat this was a balancing act, with the toppings perched precariously above layers of fish. A lot of sauce TBH but still tasty. I can imagine that locals are upset at potential quality decreases/price hikes (hence 3 stars), but as someone who tried Sushi House for the first time in 2024, I thought it wasn't too bad ._. This is a great place for locals and everyone loves it. There's a parking lot right outside so it's very convenient to find parking. Came on a Friday evening and it wasn't as packed as I thought it would be. You can also join the waitlist on yelp ahead of time which is a great hack. Highly recommend checking out the menu before cause their menu is pretty expensive and big. I always love getting the sashimi and a few of their roles like lambada, island, and super prawn. I went here with my coworkers for the first time since I was a kid! We ordered A LOT of food, so I wasn't able to get a photo of it all. The food was delicious! I love absolutely everything we ordered, minus the vegetable tempura, which was nothing special. We ordered the Oregon, cherry blossom, Philadelphia roll, lion king, ichiban, A's, samurai, and Webster roll! In addition to that we also got grilled squid, oysters, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura & moriawase. The fish here is fresh and delicious! I was shocked by the size of the rolls when they were brought out to us. They really don't skimp on the fish here! I loved how unique some of the rolls were, you won't find them elsewhere. Nothing beats fresh sushi and a beautiful view of the ocean. My only issue is with the service. I understand that it's busy, but throughout our time there the servers looked annoyed every time we flagged them down for something. We had to ask multiple times for water refills and napkins. High time for a review update, I guess! Sushi House has really developed over the last couple of years and we're happy to come back quite regularly. The portions are still huge and I think the fish quality has improved quite a bit. Service is good and quick, the place is always buzzing in the evenings - especially on Friday and Saturday nights - and the staff has it figured out quite nicely. I would recommend getting on the wait list via Yelp when you leave home and by the time you get there (for us it's about a 15-20 minutes drive), you usually get a table right away. You can also use their wait list at the front of the restaurant when you arrive. My husband loves their bento boxed for dinner - usually there is enough food left over for his lunch the next day. We typically always get the Lion King and the California Deluxe--salmon is so fall-apart-in-your-mouth tender and the mayo sauce is fantastic. I had a family lunch here around 1pm on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy- we were seated immediately. We got the toro sashimi appetizer which came with 4 thick slices, and I got the island roll. Sushi House is an all-time classic for me and my family, and coming back years later it still holds up quite well! I ordered a California Roll and the Rock'n Roll which are my favorites. The California roll was pretty good, and the Rock'n Roll was still as good as I remember! The price is slightly up there compared to other sushi restaurants, so that's why I think it's more of a 4 star for the quality of sushi to price comparison. Regardless, you'll still definitely have a good time! The service is always great; the staff is super friendly and you can easily get their attention since the location is big open area. The view is also phenomenal: you're right by the Bay and they have a huge window to look out, or you can sit semi-outside if you want an even better view. Gosh we used to come here a lot before we moved to Pinole. Even before they moved from the smaller, first single storefront then the expanded double storefront before they took over the current location on the corner of Park and Otis. Let me first say that our return blew our expectations and memories away. We sat for lunch and got our all time favorite Lambada roll and a Salmon sol roll. Now we know why we came to love the Lambada roll. It is better here than anywhere else. I think that it is a tribute to the fresh sushi grade fish that they use. We got lucky too because it was not crowded at 11:30 when we arrived and the service that we received was nothing but stellar. Do yourselves a favor and try to come when they aren't slammed which as you know is most of the time. Been going here with my family for a decade, their quality of fish, the quality of the tea, and the service has all deteoriated, which may be from rising costs but at least keep the quality consistent and adjust the prices as fit. This experience was so bad it prompted a review, a waitress seated me and my family down and in less than a minute asked if we were ready to order. I usually order the same thing every time and she went through the items as they usually do after taking the order and it all sounded fine. Then they brought items that I didn't even order and were missing an item that I ordered. I told them that they might have mixed up my order and instead of checking, she said that my memory was bad and that it's what it says in our order. She then takes away the items that we didn't order but never got us the item that we did order. She goes on to gossip with her coworkers and when we were rung up, she charges us for extra things that weren't in our order. Not only that, she gets confrontational and mind you we still didn't get the item that we ordered but instead of trying to resolve the situation she tries to humiliate me and my family. Very disappointed with this Alameda staple. Food is always good. Service is good, nothing spectacular. Went here to celebrate a family milestone with friends. Looking at the bill and realized I was charged 12.6% in tax (Alameda tax is 10.75%) and 18% service fee or tip was already included. My fault for not reading the receipt more closely but I find this practice so dishonest. I added an additional 18% not seeing the service fee. I love supporting my local businesses but this is ridiculous. I feel taken advantage of. I'm spreading the word about my experience. This has soured what was a nice outing with family. read more

The last 3 times we've eaten here has resulted in FOOD POISONING 2 times from a bento box with beef teriyaki never left a review about it cause like I said we grew up eating it but after I hate it again yesterday it wasn't last draw... my girlfriend and I both got food poisoning from eating here this time not from the beef teriyaki but from either the island roll, fried calamari or the lion king roll. While the place has changed over the years, the delicious flavors have remained consistent. After craving a chicken teriyaki rice plate for weeks, I finally got my fill at Sushi House. My partner and I came in during Mother's Day weekend but only waited about 20 minutes to get seated. It wasn't too crowded inside and it seemed like they have a good flow of customers coming in. My partner got the chicken katsu rice plate and we also shared the wakame salad and bay scallop roll. It took about 10 minutes for the wakame salad to arrive and another 20 minutes for our rice plates, which I didn't mind because the portion sizes here are huge! We did our best to finish the food, but had to take home the rice plates because we were stuffed. Not to mention, the food was AMAZING! The chicken teriyaki was broiled and perfectly cooked and moist. I loved the sweet teriyaki sauce that it came with so much that I wish I could have a bottle of it. My partner's chicken katsu was so crispy and the chicken was not dry at all despite being fried. The prices here might seem a little more expensive but the portion size and taste makes up for it 100%! I also love that Sushi House is right next to the water. I ordered the Marine roll for myself and it was okay, mainly because every piece I tried to pick up would instantly fall apart and was a bit messy to eat. I'm assuming it's because of how loosely wrapped it was and the soy wrap doesn't have a good adhesive compared to traditional nori. In the many times I have eaten here over the years, I don't think I've seen a single Japanese customer, let alone a Japanese worker. That said, it excels at its mission, and that is why you will see it packed with people during lunch and on weekends. Rolls and bentos are their best offerings. Their combination dinners are excellent, too. I pair sushi and salmon teriyaki and it's a proper meal. It might not be a refined plating, but it is tidy. The fish is fresh and the teriyaki sauce has the right amount of sweetness. This is also a great place to get a lot of raw fish in your belly. I find even the thought of an AYCE sushi place disgusting. At Sushi House, you can order the large boats with nicely cut fish. I've taken the family here for birthdays and ordered a couple of the large boats. Everyone leaves full and happy. When I come in solo, I usually get the dinner combos or the sushi moriawase.
