Parking is somewhat challenging at times but it's plenty. When you walk in it's clean and bright inside. You walk up to the counter to order and the options are endless. The staff is friendly and helpful too. You can choose standard options or build your own rolls or bowls. the Rolls are very large. We ordered three rolls and it's more than enough for just two people. We got the OMG roll, a spicy tuna and a spicy salmon. The salmon was our least favorite but still good. Applebees quality, Subway style. It's Subway style because of the way it's ordered, you line up in a line and pick what you want in your sushi roll! The meat is fresh good quality meat and isn't flimsy and thin like expected in cheap sushi meat. Just like pizza, sushi is hard to mess up as long as you have high quality ingredients! I could see Sushi Boss being the perfect place to take someone who has never had sushi, or who might be reluctant to try sushi. It's very "user-friendly," if you know what I mean. You can customize your roll to include or not include whatever you want. Or you can choose from half a dozen of their signature rolls, which include familiar ingredients that aren't typically in sushi, like marinated beef and chicken. Their sushi rolls are familiar enough to not scare away a newbie eater. Sushi Boss probably would not win any awards for authenticity, but we ate well and enjoyed our takeout sushi. We ordered The Crunchy Roll (which included spicy crab), That One Roll (which included marinated short rib beef and asparagus), OMG Roll (which included shrimp tempura) and a California Roll, which is not vegetarian because they include crabstick). All of the signature rolls had a lot of sauce on them, which isn't my favorite on sushi, but again, some (most?) people in these parts like their sauce on things, and so in that sense, Sushi Boss gives the people what they want. I am not one of those people who want sauce, and so I suppose if I were to eat at Sushi Boss again, I would have to make my own roll. But when it comes to sushi, most of the enjoyment comes from submitting to the preparer and enjoying something that you don't have to think too much about, just savor. I also got the miso soup, and I wasn't a fan. It didn't have that deep umami flavor that miso soup is supposed to have. It tasted flat and a little like the kind of miso that I make from a pouch. But it did have tofu in it, which was nice. The sushi was packed really well for our to-go order, which was great. And it was super easy to order over the phone, but you can also order online. Sushi is one of my go to meals and when I could get it delivered I was very happy to do so I order from here pretty regularly, and it's always delicious sushi is very well-made. And there are lots of options to choose from on the menu my go to is the rainbow roll because of us variety of different fish and ingredients. They also offer a sushi kits so if you want to make your own sushi, you can and have even delivered classes on technique. We carried out from Sushi Boss tonight. This place is like fast food sushi - prepared right in front of you like Subway. I got the Crunchy Roll - spicy crab mix with cucumber, avocado, BOSS sauces eel sauce and crunchy onion. It was a 10 piece roll - plenty large enough to share and topped with a tangy sauce. My wife ordered the Tropical Spicy Shrimp Bowl - sushi rice, spicy shrimp, mango, avocado, jalapeño and topped with a yummy eel sauce and fried onions. The bowl was quite flavorful and very tasty. We shared a house salad with their soy ginger dressing. All in all we were very pleased with our meals. The staff was very friendly and watching our food being prepared was fun. They offer a large number of signature rolls and meals in bowls or you can create your own. If you want great sushi, we can highly recommend Sushi Boss. *Awesome weekend activity alert!* During quarantine, Sushi Boss started selling sushi kits, so you can learn how to roll at home. Not only does each box have enough to make four rolls (about four meals), but their website also allows you to customize the proteins, sauces and toppings for your rolls as well. We had a virtual Yelp event last night with the Sushi Boss owner and sushi chef who led us through the process, but @sushibossindy also has an easy tutorial video on their IGTV and Facebook so anyone can learn too. The owner is local guy with a sweet family and hardworking staff. They're definitely people I want to support forever (and I will because... well, their sushi is delicious!). Now onto the sushi kit: I chose the California rolls kit and added a side of yum yum sauce for my box (and next time I'll add in a side of the fried onions too!). You're able to order your box on their website and schedule your pick up time for whichever day works best. They recommend that you make your sushi the same day you receive the box. Sushi Boss had a nice curbside tent outside during COVID19, and I simply called them when I arrived. A really nice guy quickly brought my order out, stayed his distance and was wearing a mask. They were prepared for sure! Now to the sushi making. I thought it would be really difficult to make my own rolls resemble anything to theirs. However, I was pleasantly surprised when we all created pretty awesome rolls from our home! The kit was amazing because it came with a bamboo rolling mat (that I can now use again - yay!), an entire container of soy sauce, two avocados, crab sticks, cucumber sticks, sesame seeds, three containers of yum yum sauce, wasabi, ginger, chopsticks, sticky rice, four nori sheets and instructions. They thought of EVERYTHING. I now have four meals and extra avocado, yum yum sauce, and a ton of soy sauce left over. Such a good deal for only about $25! Sushi Boss said that they think they'll keep selling kits even when we're out of quarantine, which would be awesome. A few tips when making your own sushi: keep plastic wrap around your bamboo mat each time you use it so that you can use it again and not have to throw it away! Also, always wet your knife in between cutting your sushi rolls so that the knife doesn't stick to your rolls and destroy your masterpiece! You can of course also order pre-made sushi by their pro sushi makers, which I'll be doing on a more regular basis when I'm not feeling as artistic as I did last night - haha! read more

Came to sushi boss this past weekend and had a great experience. First of all, all the workers were super nice! The worker rolling sushi helped tell us how it works & a couple of suggestions. I decided to make my own roll & try the "taste like chicken"- my husband wanted cucumber & I didn't so they can also accommodate half/half requests. Major perk: if you see in the photos, these rolls are huge! For being a "fast food" / "chipotle" style restaurant, everything we had tasted great. Additionally, online they have all their nutrition information so it made it super easy for us to know which foods were safe as gluten free options. Also, they do have GF soy sauce if you ask for it! I ordered a make your own sushi kit from Sushi Boss and was so impressed with both the quality and quantity of food! You can customize your kit selecting four different proteins. I went with salmon, tuna, crab stick and shrimp tempura. The kit comes with rice, seaweed sheets, an avocado, cucumber spears, sesame seeds, wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, a bamboo rolling mat and chop sticks. It made four huge rolls and I have leftover rice, a seaweed wrap, and nearly 1/2 an avocado that I think will become a breakfast sushi roll with the addition of an egg. The kit is an excellent value! They have instructional videos online and it actually works! My rolls came out looking decent, and tasted amazing. The ingredients were so fresh and delicious. I also had an order of edamame which was fresh and delicious and a great bargain. During the COVID-19 restrictions, you can order online and pay through their website and then call when you arrive for curbside pickup. My daughter and I were in search of a new sushi place to try. The photos of a few of the rolls on Sushi Boss' Yelp page really drew us in. Wow! They really are very generous with the tastiest ingredients in their rolls! A super friendly woman greeted us as soon as we walked in and described Sushi Boss as being "the Subway of sushi." While they had a list of sushi rolls and poke bowls, they also have build your own options. What I found really interesting is that they also offer the option to have 2 different rolls combined into one for a specialty half/half roll. Your entire meal is made right in front of you. Prices are really reasonable and they have plenty of options. Checking in with Yelp scores you a free Miso soup! They also have a great offer to add on one of many sides and a drink from their large drink selection. We were both thrilled with our rolls. They were absolutely delicious, and we both regretted eating the last pieces. We were so overly full, but they were to tasty to waste. Neither of us were able to eat much of the edamame we had ordered because our rolls were so filling. Worth noting, for those with a partner who never wants to go to sushi joints. It was our First time trying this restaurant. It's located in a strip mall so parking is convenient. This Sushi Boss is not an ordinary restaurant where you get served by waiters. It's like Qdoba, Subway, Chipotle and etc. When you walk into the restaurant, you place an order according to your preference. I thought it was cool because I have never seen this type of business model applied to Japanese style of food. Food was prepared and made pretty fast. You get your food when you pay and you bring it to a table to eat. We had crunchy roll, omg roll and wicked spicy tuna roll. We picked off the menu instead of creating my own. They were all good and very filling. By checking In through Yelp app, I was able to get a free miso soup. Glad I was able to try it for free. When asked if I wanted a roll or bowl I said poke bowl (habit), which I realized the guy (who was friendly) took to mean the Hawaiian Poke Bowl. He'd already moved to the toppings when I realized what he was doing, since I'm not particularly picky I went with it. The other 2 employees looked less than enthusiastic, ok whatever. The cashier was so intent on just ringing me up when I asked to add a fountain drink he just gave me a small without asking while the friendly guy pushed a large on my friend who kept saying small. Then the cashier rang up my friend's and my orders together, had to ask for separate. This all happened within a minute so my intention of making it a meal (drink and side for additional $3 or so) was just washed down the drain. Driving from the Southside to the restaurant was a challenge with all the construction and rerouting of cars on I-465. I don't know what I was expecting but liked the concept of individualizing your dish. I chose the short ribs bowl but was a little surprised that it looked like pot roast rather than short ribs I have typically had in Asian restaurants. My daughter had a custom chosen bowl, which she loved and her friend had a roll. Overall, it was okay but I don't know that I'd make that trip again just to go to Sushi Boss.
