My family and I went to Sushi House at around 12 on a Saturday. It was pretty busy but luckily we were able to get a table immediately. The service was pretty slow but that is to be expected when somewhere is super busy. All of the staff was very friendly and apologetic for everything taking as long as it did. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming. The tables were very cold and packed together that would probably be my only complaint about it. The food was delicious and tasted very fresh and I feel like the price of all of the dishes was very reasonable. The lunch boxes were excellent but I definitely want to come back to try some sushi!

I've been here a few times now. I prefer it for lunch only because it is always so packed for dinner. The staff is always incredibly friendly. The place is delicious, I just wish it was twice as large.

I ordered California Rolls and Crunchy Shrimp Rolls and they were delicious. Ordering to go was super easy online, pick up was simple, and I was helped immediately when I walked in the door! It was super nice and fancy looking inside, even though I was in a hoodie lol.

Superb sushi in the KC suburbs - rivals anything I've eaten on the coasts! Came with my team this evening for an early dinner. We had made reservations (recommended, as the place is popular), so we were seated right away at a table. There were four of us, and we decided to each order a sushi roll for the table and sashimi or nigiri for ourselves. I ordered the bbq eel sushi roll to share and fatty salmon sashimi for myself. The sushi rolls and individual nigiri/sashimi arrived quickly. I tried all four types, preferring the eel the most! I didn't enjoy my fatty salmon nigiri nearly as much as I thought I would, though. Service was good and the ambience understated but classy. Happy to return next time I'm in the area.

Absolutely love what I have gotten here! The tamago is absolutely amazing best I've had and such a good amount. The 5041 roll is so so yummy. The Cali also is a good way to go for bang for your buck. The server was super friendly and it was super quick service! Definitely will be back!

My sister and I came here for a girls night out. She kept saying she wanted sushi so we decided to set a reservation and go here. I only like Tempura sushi. I'm not into Sashimi. We walked in and it's a pretty small place. You wouldn't get that from the website. They have two private rooms up front and then in the middle is the rest of the seating. We were seated immediately thanks to the reservation. It was packed in there so I'm glad we did that. For drinks, we both ordered Arnold Palmers. Wasn't in a drinking mood but they had a wide selection of alcohol including Saki. For appetizers, we ordered the Tempura Calamari and the Garlic Shrimp. Both were delicious! I've had Calamari fries before but never Tempura. So good. The sauce for the shrimp was very good. For meals, I ordered the Crazy Lobster Roll and the Rainbow Roll. My sister had the 5041 Roll and the Spicy Tempura Roll. . All the rolls were delicious I'm going to assume. I didn't try the 5041 Roll because it was Sashimi. The place is loud but you'd expect that because it's small. The vibe was awesome. So glad we went. If you like sushi and want a nice vibe, check them out.

This place has some quality sushi. They also have bento boxes, udon, and other items! The yellowtail sushi I had was wrapped well and had just enough spicy mayo to not be overpowering. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The venue was very clean and welcoming.

    Philly Roll

Sushi house is my favorite sushi place in KS!!! The spicy garlic edamame is to die for and the Philly roll they do is amazing!!!! Their rice is so soft and fluffy and the rolls are so big! If you haven't tried this spot you need too!

While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost all of them were full when we arrived. Ika is a smaller space in a strip mall off of 119 in Leewood, so there's not a ton of seating but the restaurant went further back than where we sat so there's probably more room than I could see. The kitchen/sushi bar is right up front when you walk in and takes up a good amount of room toward the front but it's aesthetically pleasing. The decor was very nice and everything was clean. They have a big chalk board near the front door, on the wall with their specials. They have quite a few. The menu is very large and our server came over about 5 minutes after we were seated. We ordered some edamame but asked for some more time to look at the menu. When the edamame came out, we placed our order. We decided to both get a side salad with ginger dressing and share two of their special rolls. We got one of the specials off the board, the Hidden Dragon. It was really good and by far my favorite out of the 2 rolls we got. My friend also really liked this roll and thought it was the better of the two. The other roll we got was the Rainbow which is a California roll topped with various types of fish. Neither of us are big fans of salmon so we asked for it to be left off. I didn't really like this roll. I normally love tuna but I prefer it cut a bit thinner and I'm used to it almost having a butter texture where it melts in your mouth. I'm not sure what was going on but all of the tuna had a very strong flavor and yes, I'll say it was fishy. I realize some people like that but I don't. Maybe it was the Hamachi (yellowtail) but it was not for me. I tried 2 pieces and that was enough. My friend liked it better than me but definitely preferred the Hidden Dragon too. I would probably give them a 3.5 if that was an option because the Hidden Dragon roll was very good. The service was efficient and quick. Not overly friendly. They never even acknowledged my friend's bday even though she was opening gifts and we sat a small birthday pop up paper cake card on the table. Not that we expected anything but maybe just a comment about her birthday. Maybe they were too rushed for anything extra. My disappointment in the tuna on the Rainbow roll is my reason for the lower rating. The rolls are $18 each so getting one I really couldn't eat is unfortunate. They also use the crab salad and not just a piece of crab in their rolls. I prefer the latter because I'm not too fond of all the extra mayo from the crab salad. I missed taking pics of our rolls! The Hidden Dragon looked fantastic and the Rainbow looked better than it tasted, lol. My friend still enjoyed her afternoon birthday lunch! I would possibly try them again to explore something else on the menu since there were so many options but I won't go out of my way to return.

Then we sat down at the teppanyaki table, and things went south faster than a dropped egg. Our server was solid, but the "chef" was a total trainwreck. It felt like we were an inconvenience to his schedule. He just rushed through the motions with zero engagement, like he was checking off a grocery list instead of actually cooking for people. The "Highlights" (and I use that term loosely): The Timing: I ordered the steak and scallops. He finished my steak before the rice even hit the grill. My cow just sat there getting cold while we watched him "work." The Culinary Wisdom: When one of us asked if the beef was a strip or a ribeye, he literally just said, "It's steak." Cool. Glad we cleared that up. The Cross-Contamination Special: We had a vegetarian in the group. He proceeded to cook her tofu directly in the steak juice. Truly a "chef's kiss" moment if you hate your customers. The Doneness (or lack thereof): The salmon was basically still swimming (raw), and the scallops were charred and tasted like fire and brimstone. The Mussels: I grabbed a side of green mussels. They were... fine? I've had much better elsewhere in town, but they were the Olympic gold medalists of my meal by default. The Silver Lining? The Sake. It came in a take-home glass, was incredibly easy to drink, and was 100% necessary to get through the rest of the experience. I can't speak for the sushi, but if it's handled with the same "I don't want to be here" energy as the teppanyaki, I'd stay far, far away. Two stars only because the hostess was nice and the Sake did its job.
