Yum Yum Roll and Spicy Crab Roll

Again food was delicious! I was really happy with our roll choices and the Crab Rangoon was great. I was bummed about our Valentine's Day experience here though. After making a reservation a month in advance, we got placed at the sushi bar where servers were reaching over us to grab plates for their tables because they gave our table to a walk in. Service was slow but also expected on a busy night like Valentine's Day. Again though, great food just the experience could have been better.

Decided to try something different at Prime Sushi and ordered from the cooked menu instead of sushi--and it did not disappoint! Everything was delicious. The shrimp tempura udon was packed with flavor and loaded with veggies. The spicy ramen was solid, and both the Amber roll and baked salmon roll were really tasty. The chicken teriyaki was also full of flavor. Service was consistently great, and the food came out quickly too!

Great sushi for an excellent price especially being happy hour. Staff was very attentive to guests and quick with service and refills. The inside had a very calm and peaceful atmosphere that was a great experience as well.

Good sushi, great drink, attentive staff. Price wasn't ideal- little on the expensive side but it's close to the plaza. Love the outdoor seating! Not much traffic around which was nice

I wanted some sushi for my birthday luncheon and discovered that Prime Sushi had a great happy hour menu from 2:30pm - 5:00pm, so I spent a bit of time enjoying the Plaza Library up the street until 2:30pm approached and off I went. After being seated at a hightop in the bar area, by a very lethargic host, I waited for over 10 minutes for a waiter to appear. Fortunately I already had a menu, so I was prepared to order and not risk another possible wait. I ordered 3 rolls: Philadelphia, Shrimp Tempura and the Spicy Shrimp Crunch. Priced between $5 and $9 each, they were a fantastic bargain with each roll being 8 pieces. My long pre-meal wait was not as bad as my post-meal wait for a check. For 15 minutes I sat with a dirty plate, empty water glass and credit card in hand trying to make eye contact with any staff member to facilitate an exit. Nothing worse than terrible customer service putting a negative experience on a great meal. Would I return? Only for the Happy Hour pricing and I would sit at the bar, so I have my servers quick attention. Food and value - 5 stars Service - 2 stars Rounding my 3.5 up to 4 solely for the great value.

I really enjoyed this sushi spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they had steady business throughout my time there. I sat at the bar and started off with miso soup and the fried calamari. Miso soup came out piping hot and well seasoned. It was great. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not Chewy at all, but absolutely no seasoning so it was very bland. The sauces it came with were good and helped add some flavor to the dish when dipped, but calamari lacked flavor. I couldn't decide between the Salmon Crunch roll and the Stonehenge, but the bartender suggested the latter and I was not disappointed. It was really good and the cream cheese always brings out a good flavor. Just away from the Country Club Plaza so you can get good street parking. Enjoy!

I had never heard of this sushi spot but we decided to stop by and we are SO happy we did! The service was fast and there weren't many people so the ambiance was very calm. We got several rolls, all of which were delicious. The shrimp crunch roll is one of my new favorites now. Would highly recommend if you're near the Plaza area. We were happily surprised by this restaurant!

I loved this place! We went around 5 pm and were seated immediately. The host and waitress were amiable, and the food was excellent. We ordered a few different rolls. Our favorite was the Chiefs Roll. I would not recommend the "on fire" rolls. They were terrible. Tasted burnt and Smokey.

Yum!! This popular south Plaza sushi spot is lively, cool and most importantly delicious. The sushi is fresh and creative. Classic and prime (specialty) rolls as well as sashimi and nigiri, bento boxes, soups, salads, fried rice, fried noodles, bibimbap, and more. Full bar - cocktails, sake, beer and wine as well as soda. And if you have room - dessert. Which I was too full to try because the sushi portions are generous. Great for dates and friends gathering.

1 Vegetable Egg Roll ($9.20), 1 Philadelphia Roll ($10.35) and 1 Spicy Girl Roll ($13.80) = $37.34 (through DoorDash, excluding Dasher tip)
    Olivia C.

For a start, I have recommended this place to various people and have been referred to this place myself. HOWEVER, my mother had placed an order on DoorDash for 1 Vegetable Egg Roll ($9.20), 1 Philadelphia Roll ($10.35) and 1 Spicy Girl Roll ($13.80). And additional tax ($3.99) totaling to $37.34 overall. Only FIVE, yes FIVE, small vegetable rolls barely over two inches long and as round as a nickel at best. EIGHT pieces of the Philadelphia Roll AND EIGHT Spicy Girl Rolls... crammed TOGETHER? Two SMALL containers for $37.34? Prime Sushi Bar's website did NOT include the set amount of either rolls + only showed SOME photos & ONLY the Vegetable Egg Rolls displayed an amount which was 5 (but of course no picture for them there for size). Like this is so disappointing. I used to love this place and now I feel differently. Please, do better. P.S. the flavors in the cream cheese, that smoked taste, that is absolutely not it for both the Philadelphia Roll and Spicy Girl Roll. It's too overbearing and takes away from the raw fish and other addons. It just makes it a "cream roll" at that point. Please, consider a more natural/regular cream cheese flavor.

I rarely see omakase restaurants or izakayas open for lunch or on a Monday, so this was pretty exciting for me. I wandered in without a resy (I hear it is needed for dinner) and was seated at the bar. All three chefs were helpful and talkative. I ordered the chirashi lunch, and while I was assured it was enough to eat, I left myself open to future nigiri. I ordered an iced green tea to start, and it was served in a beautiful glass (see photo). It tasted like hojicha as it was roasty. First, I was served gomaae, blanched spinach in sesame dressing, which was very nice. Next was miso soup. The soup was lukewarm so not my favorite, but the presentation was nice. Then came my chirashi don: a small bowl with rice mixed with diced takuan on the bottom, an assortment of fish: masu (ocean trout), tai (sea bream), hamachi (yellowtail), akami (lean tuna), suzuki (sea bass), chutoro (medium fatty tuna), and o-toro (fatty tuna), accompanied with cucumber, shiso leaf, and thinly shredded daikon. While this was satisfying, the freshness and quality led me to try four additional nigiri: kinmedai (golden eye snapper) with lemon zest and charcoal salt, seared gindara (black cod) with yuzu miso, in-house cured saba (not on menu but glad it came up in conversation!), and for dessert, Hokkaido uni (also not on menu, but happened to be in and fresh)! Everything was fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. The service was wonderful too. I would love to return for dinner and enjoy the omakase experience (though it is available at lunch). Itadakimasu!

We had 2 drinks and some nigiri and sashimi (we weren't stuffed) and the bill was $200 with tip. Every menu item feels very intentional and well executed. The offerings on the cocktail menu are fabulous. Both the ube and lychee cocktails are delicious. My partner and his mom both had a sake flight, each offering was delicious and different in offering. If you like sake you will definitely find one you like with this flight! They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. To start we had some furikake fries and shishito peppers. There are a lot of exciting and multilayed dishes on the menu, I think these two humble sides though really pack a punch and show that everything on the menu brings it's A game. From there the food ordering escalated as everyone in my group was over the top excited. The stand outs for me were, the dry aged salmon nigiri, the toro hand roll, the crab apple roll and my group was especially blown away by the scallops and are still talking about them a week later! Noka is in my opinion, really bringing a new level of dining to Kansas City. I'm not over stating it to say it is one of a kind in this city and everyone should try to get in.

Every detail feels intentional, from the plating and presentation to the atmosphere itself. As someone who appreciates design, Noka absolutely delivers. Food-wise, there were two undeniable stars of the night: * Wagyu Nigiri (100/10) - One of the best bites I've ever had. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and worth ordering every single time. * Crab Campanelli (11/10) - Absolutely incredible. Comfort food elevated to fine dining quality. If I came back tomorrow, I'd order this again without hesitation. Other highlights: * Filet (10/10) - Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavorful, and paired with perfectly prepared bok choy. Everything on the plate felt intentional. * Night Market Wings (8.5/10) - The quality was excellent. The sweet heat profile just wasn't exactly my personal preference, but that's purely subjective. If you enjoy spicy food with a lingering, slightly numbing heat, you'll probably love these. * Shrimp Tempura Roll (8/10) - Very good and executed well. * Tuna Roll (7/10) - Good, but it was the least memorable item compared to some of the standout dishes we ordered. Noka excels at creating a complete dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and several dishes that genuinely surprised us. For a special occasion, date night, or anyone looking for an elevated dining experience in Kansas City, it's absolutely worth a visit.

The first thing we noticed was that on Friday nights, there appears to be a much younger (and louder) crowd. The wait time was minimal, but upon being seated, we waited longer than normal for a server to arrive to take our orders. Once we placed them, we had to remind our server three times to bring items like simple syrup for my husband's Old Fashioned and ranch dip for his fries. His burger was served with a thick slice of tomatoes- no lettuce or pickles- and by the time we managed to catch a host to ask for silverware, my salmon had grown cold. The sushi rolls that we ordered as an appetizer came well after our main course arrived, and even though the restaurant did not appear to be terribly packed, we were never able to locate our server when we actually DID need her. Had the music been a bit louder, I wouldn't have been able to tell this place apart from any local club on Westport. Terribly, terribly disappointed in an established that's located in such an upscale area of our city. We considered returning on a weekday, but the experience has caused us to rethink that as well. We likely will not return unless and until some really improvements are made.
