This is good, solid sushi, remember, they are a chain cause I know I've eaten at them in other states. There is consistency to be said for that, the menu is pretty straightforward and they don't get too creative. I've gone with people that had never had sushi before, and it was a good way to introduce them to the concept.. some people don't like raw fish, but there is other things on the menu that you can ease them into the fold. Ambiance was commercialized as you would expect. Service was excellent and no complaints there. Happy hour was solid, and although the food was average above average, the three dollar sake is definitely worth a trip.

    Nice ambience.

Restaurant attached to the Aloft in Leawood with a nice ambience but mostly mediocre food. Stopped by this evening with colleagues, and we decided to share sushi rolls. Our choices were the Adults Only Roll, Chili Ponzu Yellowtail Roll, and the Viva Las Vegas Roll. We also ordered an edamame appetizer, yellowtail (hamachi) nigiri and salmon (sake) sashimi. Favorites: the salmon sashimi. Fresh and sliced perfectly. Interesting: Adults Only Roll, which they lit on fire! Least favorite: Viva Las Vegas Roll - I didn't enjoy this at all, and it was too big to eat in one bite. Bland or Uninteresting: everything else. Service was fine, except they served the Edamame appetizer after we finished our food! Bathrooms were clean. Parking was available in a garage across from the Aloft. Won't be back.

The sashimi was good and I enjoyed the ambiance. I originally came here for a friend's birthday with a party of 9 and I had called ahead to schedule a birthday dessert surprise but our server had ruined the surprise by telling the whole table. The server we had was young and seemed lost about what she was doing, didn't know whose orders she was taking, and the customer service wasn't great either. The server kept coming back to our table because she kept forgetting what my table ordered, even when she wrote everything down. I've came to RA Sushi before and had a better experience. It just sucks because I recommended this place for the birthday dinner and the server ruined the moment. I would come here again, but I would do take out or just with a smaller party...

Tempura shrimp bento box for lunch

Food - great Service - good Ambiance - Sushi place that's NOT packed @ lunchtime. 1st time here in a very long time on 12/16/24 Got the Shrimp Tempura bento box, Miso soup, 6 tempura shrimp, salad, rice, 1 goyza (dumpling) and 1 lightly fried spring roll. Great value for $14 w/o drink or tax or tip. Tempura is light and crispy, miso soup is a great non-filling appetizer, salad is good, both the goyza and spring roll are tasty, rice is fine as a taste neutralizer as well. The little pots @ the bar are a soy sauce of a kind (not kikoman) and you get another warm little bowl upon arrival of the 4 square parts. Overall a good experience for sure, if only I can lure some friends here as they (why???) don't prefer/like sushi.....

This was supposed to be steak. Medium rare. Steak was brought later, FAR from medium rare.

Went last night because of convenient location in spite of having mediocre experience before. Never again. Mediocre food, mediocre service, premium prices. 1 noodle dish + 1 roll + 1 drink = $80 Order got messed up, waiter said ok and disappeared. Had to get the manager involved. Gave coupon for complimentary appetizer for next visit. How about comping something? They have a bunch of complimentary coupons for a reason. They know they mess up a lot, but thats a lame way of making it up. Who wants to be back?!

The ramen was just okay, I like their sushi better. The lobster crispy rice (not pictured) is delicious!

Last time I had RA Sushi, was in Texas. So when MIL brought up happy hour @ RA. There's no declining. The Sake Rosé Lychee was not my cup of tea. However the Garlic Ponzu Yellowtail was AMAZING. I wanted MORE. The Spicy yellowtail roll, I go live without it. Unfortunately, the calamari had no flavor. It was completely bland. The dipping sauce also, carried no flavor. I love love love, calamari..this one did me wrong. The ice cream, phew. We devoured it in 1.2 seconds. It was amazing! Our service was great. He was constantly checking in on us. My only issue was, their big "garage" door was open & we were at the high tops. Beautiful out, but I should've known, my allergies are igniting. Their surrounding area, absolutely beautiful. Different restaurant options around. Loved the vibe!

This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere down to the food is perfect. The server that we had was on top of everything very attentive and answered any questions that we had. This is a very good place for a date night or just simply wanting to get out and enjoy food with family and friends, we will definitely be back

Absolutely phenomenal as always. I want to start with the service. The maitre d' was polite and seated us quickly. Our server was great. Heather was the perfect mix of professional and personable. She was attentive, friendly, and very patient. Even though she had other tables, we never felt ignored, or rushed. She knew the menu inside and out. My wife is a bit of a picky eater, and after a brief conversation, she had a perfect recommendation. We have always had great service at RA, but Heather is the best we've had. The GM, who was busy with interviews, also took the time to check on the customers. The food was amazing as always. They have a great selection and it is always fresh. Our appetizers came out fast and tasted great. I ordered the A5 Wagyu and it was cooked to my exact specifications. I told Heather how I would like it, and she made it happen. Since I ordered a 3 course meal and my wife did not, Heather brought my wife a soup and a salad just so she didnt feel left out. I didnt catch what her recommendation for my wifes food was but she absolutely loved it. Perfection. Consistency is extremely important for us and RA is always on point. If we order something that we have had before, we know its going to taste the same. I also want to add that the staff keeps everything immaculately clean. From the outside of the restaurant to the restrooms, and everything in between, it always looks like it had been just cleaned. If you haven't been to RA, you are missing out.

    Keep this going!

I hadnt been in for some time. I finally came in last night to satisfy my taste buds and I was amazed that the food is much better now and the managers were nice. I felt like someone special. He came and spoke to me. Also, another member from management Liz, excellent customer service skills. She made sure that I had a good experience with service and food. Wonderful experience and definitely made me feel good. Promptness, Politeness, Professionalism and Personalization absolutely I received all 4 P's. Keep this up!

Happy hour lasts until seven which is a great perk, originally went to use my $20 off birthday coupon but it's only valid on full priced food, so we'll be back to try that! Fried rice was a little greasy, shrimp were flavorful, sushi was great. LOVED the strawberry margarita!

I came here for a catch up with some friends during happy hour on a weeknight. The decor is upscale Japanese vibes with a small patio area out front. It's located near Town center, so parking is sparce out front but there is a free parking garage about a 2ish minute walk from the restaurant. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive throughout our stay. She worked with me to find a comparable sake when they were out of one and answered all of our questions. We ordered her recommendation of a cucumber Collins and it was on point. The sushi was on par with other places around the city. We ordered quite a bit of mango forward rolls - which was my first experience doing so. The flavor was complemented quite well and not overpowering. The sushi could have standed to be just a hair more seasoned with the rice. Regardless, you'll find pretty much anything you like as the menu has a ton of options. At the end they took our picture and printed it for all of us to keep. I thought this was such a cute touch, now I have a keepsake to remember the experience.

Every menu item feels very intentional and well executed. The offerings on the cocktail menu are fabulous. Both the ube and lychee cocktails are delicious. My partner and his mom both had a sake flight, each offering was delicious and different in offering. If you like sake you will definitely find one you like with this flight! They both ended up liking a yuzu sake and split a bottle, the finish was sweet, crisp and perfect for the Kansas City heat. I started with an espresso martini, the coffee flavor was strong and sweet and I was a fan! During our meal I opted for a martini corner dirty vodka martini and as a dirty martini enthusiast I was very pleased and will continue to recommend! I finished off with a matcha martini that was sweet, creamy and smooth and paired perfectly with our tempura banana! Speaking of food, the star of the show, we genuinely had only good bites here as usual. We sat at the bar on the corner, it was a nice seat that captured the energy of the restaurant, busy but somehow tranquil. Our bartender was great as well as all the staff behind the bar and host stand! I especially appreciate the patience of our bartender, we came and ordered many rounds of small plates, (you should do the same!) and he was nothing but enthusiastic and helpful. Food-wise, there were two undeniable stars of the night: * Wagyu Nigiri (100/10) - One of the best bites I've ever had. Rich, buttery, perfectly balanced, and worth ordering every single time. * Crab Campanelli (11/10) - Absolutely incredible. Comfort food elevated to fine dining quality. If I came back tomorrow, I'd order this again without hesitation. Other highlights: * Filet (10/10) - Beautifully cooked, incredibly flavorful, and paired with perfectly prepared bok choy. Everything on the plate felt intentional. * Night Market Wings (8.5/10) - The quality was excellent. The sweet heat profile just wasn't exactly my personal preference, but that's purely subjective. If you enjoy spicy food with a lingering, slightly numbing heat, you'll probably love these. * Shrimp Tempura Roll (8/10) - Very good and executed well. * Tuna Roll (7/10) - Good, but it was the least memorable item compared to some of the standout dishes we ordered. Noka excels at creating a complete dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere, thoughtful presentation, excellent service, and several dishes that genuinely surprised us. We spent over $50 + after tax and tip for three rolls, which is similar to what many other sushi restaurants charge, but those places serve much fresher and better quality sushi - Sushi Uni in Lenexa. The garden salad dressing was also a complete disappointment. It had no distinct ginger flavor or even enough seasoning. It was very thick and heavily spread over the salad, which made it unpleasant to look at and eat. Overall, the service was excellent, but the food didn't live up to the ratings or the price. The three stars are for the lovely server, the beautiful decor, and the well presented sushi. I really hope they improve the freshness because, based on the older reviews, they seem to have the potential to serve much better sushi. If they do, I will be the first one to definitely come back to try more of their beautiful looking rolls.
