I've created a tiny monster. That monster is my own kid. I've now taken her twice to Sushi Island and it's now one of her favorite spots. I would say the best thing they did to make it easy is having a menu with pictures that show what the different plates might have. It made it very easy to know what to look for and which plates to grab and try. For example, we wanted to get a salmon skin roll and knew to look for a roll on a yellow plate. It's very fun to pull plates off the belt and try a few bites of this and that. It works well for my daughter and I because we can share and try lots of things. The quality was pretty good. I look for the more simple things and things they make (the seaweed salad wasn't my favorite and I wonder if they bought it premade?). I'm sure my kiddo will be begging to go again soon. read more

It's a conveyor belt Sushi place that is not super busy during lunch hour on a weekday, part of the tables/belt were not even available/operational. Service was kind of non existent (had to ask for water), and the vibe was widescreen TVs. Let's talk food. This was a mixed bag. On the bright side, they have the best veggie roll I've ever been served at any sushi place. They put a lot of effort into this thing, really above and beyond in terms of what it includes. The wasabi was decent and the ginger was properly gingery without that fake pink coloring in it. On the downside, the other sushi rolls I had were lacking in flavor, and the cucumber salad lacked that certain bright fresh taste and flavor I expect from cucumbers. As for what was available right off the belt, it was challenging to find a roll that didn't contain krab. Of course you could order off the menu but no one ever asked me what I wanted. read more

This place surprised me. I had this place a few years back and forgot how it was so I decided to come back. At first, we sat down at a table and not a bar so we ordered off the menu. After a few guests left, we asked to be moved to the bar and the server happily moved our table. I have to see, this was probably the best sushi I've had in Eugene thus far and I've tried a lot of places here. The salmon was super fresh and the rolls were really tasty. My favorite item on the menu was the fried calamari as it was nice and crispy and the batter was flavorful. Overall for the price, I think this is a great spot if you are in the mood for sushi. One critique I would say is that their rolls and nigiri have a little too much rice to fish ratio but other than that, this place is great! read more

The food here is always ok and service is ok. But until today it was good enough. Today i ordered some stuff to be made because they didn't have it on the track. When they do that they give tickets for those items to be counted because it is by the plate and normally those items don't come on regular plates. Today several items I special ordered did come on plates so I told the waitress when she was counting plates and adding the ticket to the bill. She still charged me for the plate that the special orders came on so basically I paid twice for some items. When I pointed it out again she argued with me about it but I am not going to make a huge scene so I paid for it and told her I would pay her total but I won't be back. This time it was an extra $10 but how many times did I not pay attention and how often do people not pay attention and pay extra? There are better sushi spots in town to go to but this one is easier for me so it sucks but not going to a place that double charges me. read more

Today I ordered from Sushi Island via Uber eats delivered. The food was delivered in less than 20 minutes steaming hot! We ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl and a beef teriyaki bowl. The portions were large, perfectly seasoned and beyond delicious! We also ordered the seaweed salad wonderful as usual! The tempura order was generous and cooked to perfection! And then always extra sushi on the side.. not that we need more food cause both our plates are more than enough, but it's all SO GOOD!! Flavor is great, and portion size keeps us coming back! Now let's talk about ordering online / delivery.. I asked in notes for beef bento because I didn't see it on menu, but I have gotten it many times so I asked them to please sub that.. and they did! Quick stop because I was craving miso soup. The sushi looked ok. I ate two different plates off the conveyor belt. They were OK. Didn't seem super fresh. The waiter was super helpful, kind and quick. Is this the best sushi in town? Undoubtedly not. Is it cute and cozy and kinda fun to watch rolls circulate around a conveyor belt and eat your fill for $12? Absolutely! I'm a vegetarian, so I only eat the avocado maki, veggie roll, egg sushi, the desserts, etc. I can't comment on the freshness of the fish, which is the main thing that concerns most sushi eaters. All I know is that it tasted just fine (not the most flavorful sushi rice I've had but ok), there were unlimited condiments (spicy mayo for those calories), and it felt fun and festive in there. Walked in at 11:03 and waited almost 15 minutes for an employee to "open" just to order my food, then almost 30 minutes to get 2 rolls and a katsu bowl even though I was the first order. The food wasnt even worth the wait. The portions were rediculous. 1 peice of fish on top of a roll? The raw fish was bland and warm from sitting next to a hot roll. Neither of the rolls looked like there was any care used to package them, and I feel like I should point out the lack of portions again. For $10 a roll, I would have been better off getting it at a grocery store! We used to come here pretty often when it was open for dine-in, and have had take out a couple times this year. I'm giving this restaurant four stars the reason why is a couple reasons it's perfect for family night out always everybody gets what they want which is nice sitting at the rotating belt and choosing what you want is fun and adventurous and almost like a Hunt incredibly courteous incredibly attentive to your needs and extremely nice The bathrooms are clean. The appearance from the outside isn't very appealing, but once you're inside you feel comfortable. It's very quiet, no harsh buzzing from electricity, the most noise are from upset children but there is a lacking when it comes to comfortable seating away from other people and the brightness of outside. No strong scents, noises, or bright lights other then sunlight from the windows. The food has low texture and from a very sensitive eater I was able to eat a lot before finding something that bothered my sensory to much. Everyone is so nice, and everything is very safely wrapped. Most food isn't touching each other, and not hard to separate if it is. Most of the drinks do not have carbonation, and are sealed in cans or bottles. If you're not a sushi person but still wanna go there are bento boxes and bowls that do not have fish or cross contamination. Over all, out of most restaurant experiences I did not need to wear my headphones for noise volume, and I was very comfortable here. Like, erasing or forgetting your entire order, retaking it, saying they'll expedite your meal then you have to wait AN HOUR and there is no apology or compensation. All the waitresses seem like deer in the headlights, not even making eye contact or acknowledging you as you sit there and wait FOREVER. They're terrible at remembering any extra items you ask for. I have been going to the Island for a couple of years every month or so. I do not eat off the belt knowing the leftover plates from the day before are not tossed, but chilled overnight to return the next day. I love the Salmon Kama and crisp Calamari and spicy Salmon hand roll. Bento are a good value. My main gripe is the dirty back hallway and the bathrooms....ecchhh. read more

I've been thinking to visit here for a long time and finally got a chance today. We arrived at 2:10 and there were already groups of people waiting for seats. We two girls spent $20 for 11 dishes and 4 green tea mochi. The sushi were okay. You get what you pay for. Green tea mochi was really good, tastes like the one sold in Asian markets. The man sitting next to me was really confused about sushi rolls on the belt. Most of the time he just grabbed spring rolls and gyoza because he didn't know what other stuff are. So you'd better do some homework before visiting if you aren't familiar with sushi rolls. Overall 3.5 stars for good service and non expensive sushi rolls. read more

I've eaten here a number of times, mainly just for convenience. Their sushi isn't bad but it's typical conveyor belt sushi. I'm docking a star for inconsistent service. Each time I arrive, they tell me to help myself to a seat. That's fine. However, there seems to be a lack of communication from the front-of-house to the server. Each time I've had to waive a server over for chopsticks, water, and even soy sauce and wasabi on some occasions. It's minor, but also unnecessary if they'd just communicate to their servers rather than relying on customers. The selection is limited although they do offer good happy hour pricing where each plate is $2.50. read more

I walked into this restaurant and i wanted to order some sushi for take out and they gave me a card with an address and i arrived to this shop and a talking skeleton was talking to me and i saw a floating carpet and i ordered a dragon roll and a literal dragon came out of a lamp and rolled over, then not even 7 seconds later a tall smelly fat green knight came out of nowhere with a talking donkey and they killed the dragon and the dragon turned into a sushi and the sushi rolled up inside a box and fell slowly into my hands with a yellow glow around it and the total cost was $7.80 and after that, the stupid donkey ate the sushi and I turned him into donkey tacos,I give it a 3/5 stars for all of the PTSD i got from the experience i had and the therapy sessions i took and they ended up saying i was crazy, I will recommend to friends! read more

Fun place to eat ... first time I've been to any place that had food traveling by to grab from. My kids love this place because I can give them s spending limit, and they can pick and choose to their hearts content. Plates are color coded to a fixed price, so that a person can add to their total as they go. If there's something you want that you haven't seen traveling by, you can make the request to have it brought right to the table. It can get pricey if you're just grabbing until you're full, but it can be worth it at the same time. I'm definitely a return customer multiple times over, and the staff is very nice.
