I got the Tempura Udon Noodle soup and the Beef Bulgogi with steamed rice and an order of egg rolls. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted delicious. Didn't know there were mushrooms in both dishes so I'll be sure to say no mushrooms next time. The egg rolls came with Yum Yum sauce but I prefer Duck sauce or Sweet and Sour. Only concern was there was a container of spices that had a couple of gnats inside (enclosed a pic. but hard to see) We weren't sure what the spice was for anyway so just threw it out. Sushi Junai is my go to place for a sushi fix. It's an all you can eat spot so set your expectations as such but for what it is, it is good quality and worth the price. In addition to the sushi, their side dishes like tempura and miso are also tasty. The waiters are always so friendly and even encouraging you to order more. Oh my goodness I've been here twice for lunch just by myself so I can get away for a little bit and I have been pleasantly surprised and delighted by the food options. Although I've forgot that they actually gave you eight pieces for the specialty rolls and I ordered a little bit too much last time and I was so full I rolled myself out of there but I did get my moneys worth. I enjoy their crispy rice and their appetizers most I think. I haven't had any bad rolls everything is fresh it's not terribly creative these do seem to have similar components but that's not a bad thing. I've been here a couple of times and love it! A nice variety of both rolls and nigiri. Quality of fish is good. Sometimes the rice is a bit too thick, but that's probably my only complaint. Ok, let's get serious. I'm an unapologetic sushi snob--living in Japan will do that to a person. Most of the sushi I've had in the USA is okay at best and toxic at worst--with a few rare exceptions where it is truly excellent. The problem is, it's ungodly expensive. I can't spend much less than $100 and I usually leave still hungry. I often joke that I've never said the words, "I can't eat any more sushi, I'm full." There are some buffets around town that serve sushi but it's garbage so no fun there. Tonight we celebrated our son's birthday at Sushi Junai 2 which promises "all-you-can-eat" sushi. I was scared--skeptical at best. But dammit, if this place wasn't the endless train of half-decent sushi one could hope for in an AYCE establishment. Is the sushi fantastic? No, but for all-you-can-eat it's pretty damn good and you can try so many different things! For $37 you can order anything you want off their elaborate menu. Each item is priced a la carte as well so it's easy to add up what you ordered--mine was close to $100 worth of food. Below is a photo of three of the seven rolls I ordered plus a dozen or so nigiri pieces which were good enough but super tiny. This is definitely a quantity over quality establishment which we need in the sushi world every now and then. But in order to achieve that level of quantity it's nice to know there's a place that doesn't totally sacrifice quality to get there. And guess what I said afterward? My partner and I were interested in getting all you can eat sushi for my birthday and happened to stumble upon this place. As soon as we walked in, we were delighted to find a cozy ambience with very kind and attentive staff. We were wary about the quality of the fish since the price for AYCE was only $36 per person. As soon as the first order of sushi came out, we were surprised to find it was of TOP quality and tasted delicious. The Yuzu Yellowtail was actually one of the best things I have ever had. I also was obsessed with the Vegas roll as it was the best tempura sushi I have ever had. Our waiter was very attentive and polite- we didn't have to wait on service or food for more than 60 seconds. Everything was very clean (including the restrooms) and the service and food was 10/10. I definitely recommend this sushi place! My boyfriend took me here to celebrate a big milestone, we went for the all you can eat option and we conquered!!! It's a big space so we didn't have to wait to be seated, the wait staff was quick and very nice. Now let's get to what we came here for, the FOOD! In order to make paying the price for all you can eat worth it, you have to come with an empty stomach! If you don't finish all of the plates you order, you will be paying for each thing a la carte. My favorites were the sashimi and the die hard roll. I prefer a more classic taste and style. The also offer fried and baked rolls. I wasn't a huge fan of the fried roll (tempura) we ordered, it was a little heavy for my taste, but my boyfriend loved it. Came in around lunch time, obviously wasn't the busiest place but they had maybe 2-3 servers working along with 4-5 guys working the sushi bar. Took almost 10 minutes to get a server at our table, even though the host brought us to our booth and proceeded to serve other guests. Our server looked like he was half asleep at midday, but whatever. Sushi bar chefs were standing around watching TV, evidently were not busy. This funky fish tale began with me drivingpast the place. For those who want to try it is behind hobby town. I went around 3:30 and bought the all you can eat dinner. The price was fair because a la carte would have paid more before tax. My favorite out the four was the final destination. They all had solid flavors but only that one I would get again. The menu has a lot to choose from. I ate four, thought about getting more but did not want to look like Adam at the end of Man vs Food. The inside was spacious. Quality has went downhill, fish on the nigiri is literally a sliver cut and some of it tasted off probabaly since people realize there is better option. and their rice amount has increased on them. Sushi Junai 2 is our go-to spot for delicious, affordable sushi in Austin! We have always chosen to do the all you can eat option. Looking at the menu, there are a few items you can only order 1 of that I highly recommend trying - the Screaming O & the White O (appetizers) and the mochi ice cream (for dessert). The mixed (shrimp & vegetable) tempura is delicious, so I would try that as well. Other than that, we usually choose to order a lot of sushi with a few rolls. My favorite sushi here is the garlic salmon, but there are so many other great fish here too. The list of rolls is massive! Our tip with this part would be to not order too many heavy rolls in the beginning. Since you are charged for any leftovers, you don't want to just fill up on rolls and miss out on the sushi. For dessert, they have 3 different mochi flavors to choose from - mango, strawberry, & green tea. Their ice cream and brownies are great as well, and you can order more than 1 of those. This time we went, service was pretty bad. I'm not a fan of giving 3 or less stars for places... When we got here, we had to wait a little bit for someone to give us seating. That was no issue given our timing was awesome and we came at around 630ish PM when they were just getting ready for dinner time. Went to our booth. Got our kid settled. All was good. A lady comes by and takes our first order. We ordered 2 miso soups, 1 salmon poke, 1 pork cutlet, 1 cucumber salad dish and an order of chicken teriyaki for appetizers. We then placed meal orders of the folliwng: 3 salmon belly nigiri, 1 eel nigiri, 1 KBBQ sushi w/bulgogi, a order of monkey brain, 1 philly roll and that was it. The appetizers came out in a timely manner. They got our orders out fairly quickly. We were munching on those for what seemed like a VERY LONG TIME. After about 30-45 minutes of seeing waiters/waitresses fast-walk by with other peoples' orders (they placed us near the far wall next to the sushi bar so we can see when sushi would come out to be served), we started wondering where our orders went as we were waiting quite a while. The original lady that took our order was on the OTHER SIDE OF THE RESTAURANT. No follow ups. No anything. She just took our order and seemed to have disappeared with it. -1 star We now had a different waitress and were prepping to re-order our original entrees. We did the reordering of our food. And this time, we saw the lady take it and put it into the line of orders to prep for the sushi chefs. "Number 1 in line of prepping your sushi " she said. (By this point, hubs and I were joking about them making double orders...) WELL....... ..come to find out they in fact DID DO DOUBLE ORDERS for 2 of our entrees (the philly roll and KBBQ). So not only was our food late (because of someone's lack of putting in orders right away), we got double orders!!!! -1 star Just a side note....... It was a good thing our kid is so chill since this experience and our time at Sushi Junai 2 would have made her upset that she was sitting in that high chair for so long..... but not sure if other parents and kiddos would have acted the same way. -0.5 stars for not being very family friendly this go around (I'll round up for their sake) --------- Overall NOT a good experience at SJ2 this time. -1 star for Double order -1 star for no follow-ups/bad service read more

I usually hate all you can eat sushi. Just recently decided to try all you can eat sushi. Tried Kyoka and Sushi Bang bang. Junai is by far better than those places. This place is good as my favorite sushi places. Get the all you can eat to try out as much specialty rolls as you can. Save room for dessert. Mango mochi was good. If I could give no stars I would. As soon as I walked in at 2105, I was told that the kitchen closes at 2120 and that I would have to order ala carte. Of course I agreed and was given a menu. Two minutes later another member of the wait staff approached and said that I could only place 1 order from the AYCE menu as they were already preparing to close. I informed him that I would be ordering ala carte. He responded oh good and walked away. He returned right away and asked if I was ready to order. I asked for a few more minutes and a glass of water. I chose to leave at 2118 as it was pretty clear that I wasn't welcomed as no one had returned to the table to take my order nor did I ever get the glass of water. Checked this place out a few weeks ago. Small group of three on Sunday evening and we were seated almost right away. The all-you-can-eat is nuts. You can chose anything from the menu (somethings have limits). Ordering is simple, and dishes flew out. I don't recall waiting much time in between orders or drink refills. We came back on a Friday night instead and maybe that made the difference but the sushi was fresher tonight vs TH last year. The surf clam was actually good not gritty. The salmon was delicious. The sweet shrimp better not great but better. Tuna quality still no bueno but the white tuna wow was good. The rolls a bit too saucey and heavy to our liking. Udon good, same and shrimp tempura so fresh and hot-very yummy. Chicken karaage was not good at all. Thank goodness the salmon, yellowtail, white tuna made up for that. Service was good. Came out fast. Made pretty dessert for us. Very accommodating and nice waitress. Overall very pleased and much better than laat year. So this is my first time going to an actual sit down restaurant since all of the covid quarantine started and I am thoroughly impressed! Normally I'd probably give sushi Junai 4 stars, but I feel as though they have really ramped up quality and service during the quarantine time! The menus have been updated and expanded to even more options for unique and creative rolls. Everything tasted very fresh, the service was better than it used to be, and one thing that's important to me is they always do a great job making sure their sushi rice is seasoned perfectly. I was so happy to have an AYCE sushi place open again in Austin and sushi Junai NEVER disappoints! I wasn't sure how it would be actually going back to a sit down restaurant after quarantine... but the cleanliness was great and was very happy with what was provided! If you need your sushi fix and miss AYCE, Junai 2 is open again with limited seating. I highly recommend going. For being all you can eat the quality is much better than you may expect! Some of my personal favorite rolls are salmon lovers, candy cane, strip salmon, red dragon and the new touchdown roll was really good! read more

All you can eat Japanese! We visited on Friday night and it wasnt too crowded. Serivce was a little slow though; even though there wasn't a wait it took about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us (even though someone was at the front register. You order what you want off a menu and the food slowly comes out, which I believe may be purposeful since there's a two hour limit for ordering food. There were definitely some fish that was lower quality and chewy. A couple items that were red on the menu meant it was limit to one order per person at a time. My favorite items on the menu was ponzu hamachi, sweet shrimp, and salmon collar. Definitely get the latter! We also tried all of the desserts which may have been a huge mistake. The ice cream portion is VERY generous and not what I was expecting at all. The parfait was just vanilla ice cream with papaya on top and nothing special. read more
