Chicken teriyaki was swimming in grease, and the dynamite rolls were obviously made early to stock up, as they were falling apart, the tempura was soggy, and the avocado browning. Sushi King George is my favourite place for sushi in Surrey. I LOVE their nigiris. They are always extremely fresh. I wouldnt personally recommend this place if you want to try a variety of special raw fish rolls. They have a wide selection of special rolls, but most of them do not have raw fish. I highly highly recommend this place if you want some fresh nigiri that does not taste frozen or fishy. I would also highly recommend their tempura. Its extremely crispy and made fresh! read more

I tend to stay away from trying new sushi places- always a risky thing to do. But I took the plunge and tried Sushi King George... I'm glad I did! First of all, I loved the decor and ambiance. It's a modern/clean look, slightly hipster (iced drinks in mason jars- super cute). They have a chalkboard wall that customers can doodle on (also very cute). Really different than most sushi places since it's not the usual or traditional Japanese decor. The food was mostly really good. The quality of their meat and sashimi seems to be excellent. Loved the spicy tuna rolls, they had a good amount of hot sauce on them and so they were actually quite spicy. The chicken teriyaki roll was also a winner. Also tried their special roll of the day on one of my visits; didn't love it, felt like there was too much going on. Ebi mayo is really good and chicken karrage is not bad flavour wise but way too greasy/oily. Service is really friendly. Would recommend! read more

Falsely advertised as All You Can Eat. It is not. Cleanliness - Restaurant is nicely decorated but COLD, I had to put my jacket back on. Washrooms are clean but expect 5 minutes for hot water. Service - Quick but we were one of 4 tables. My son ordered an apple juice ($3), bottomless miso soup ($1.50) (they took the bowl away after 1), black rice ($2.50) and vegetable tempora 7 pieces ($7.75). I ordered Bento Box A ($12.95) tuna gomae ($5.75) and tea (free). FOOD Good - tea, very tasty tuna gomae, miso soup Bad - Chicken in my bento box was rock hard and cold, salad dressing was awful, I couldn't eat it, California roll was bland and dry - the rest was average and truly not worth mentioning as I can't remember the taste it was that average Dessert - vanilla ice cream tasted store bought, not home made Atmosphere - none. Most people were complaining it wasn't All You Can Eat and commenting on false advertising Cost - $19.14/person. Less than All You Can Eat on average Overall - 2 stars (1 for service, 1 for the tuna gomae). Not worth a second visit. read more

Between a 3.5 - 4 place. It was advertising as an all you can eat during construction, but it isn't. It is sort of hidden beside the Burger King. We had a salad - large bowl with avocado slices. The dressing is a citrus based one. Next was a lunch bento. The portion of beef was pretty good and the California roll was decent. Last we had the volcano roll. The fried roll sat on a bed of salad with small bits of sashimi and the turnip strings. It was served in a bowl which was unique. The menu advertised a sushi cup where you can choose what is in it ... something to try next time. It was nice that they left a carafe of tea and water so that we could refill as wanted. The food was just okay. The reason why I am putting zero rating is simply the manager's attitude towards customer service. Regretfully my first time ordering from this business and surely my last. I put in over $100 pick up order for dinner and was missing a $10 item. Spoke to a guy who said he is the manager and gave me two options. One is a credit towards the next order and the other is for me to pick up the item myself. When I ask him if he is serious and his reply was "I am dead serious" in a tone as if telling me what am I going to do about it and even said "What's up..I'll be here if you want to come down'' . So I'm suppose to solve THEIR mistake by driving back to their restaurant just to make my order right or order in the future to use the credit (Really?). They use skip for delivery and I live five minutes away from their restaurant so regardless if they don't deliver themselves they could have made this right especially for a $100+ order. With the economy about to go into sh*ts right now as businesses are losing customers and shutting down due to covid, their manager was smart to tell me to "Don't order here again" instead of trying to fix their mistake and even telling me it's a two-way effort. I frequently go to this sushi restaurant and have had a few issues with it, but there is one that I cannot ignore. Last Thursday, August 26th I went for lunch with my friend at around 1:30. I ordered the same food as I usually order: the salmon combo. I was eating a salmon sashimi when I noticed I was chewing on something odd, I pulled it out of my mouth and just ignored it.. until I found another one. It was small, clear, round and looked a little like plastic. I called our server over and showed her and she just told me that it was "normal". Then another woman came over ( I'm assuming was the manager) and I told her as well. She took it to the kitchen and came back. She informed me that it was fish scales. FISH SCALES in raw salmon sashimi... she said that the kitchen says that some people like it that way. Whether people like it or not I feel like you should at least inform your customers about that as I was in for a disgusting surprise that hurt my teeth. She asked me if I wanted a new one and I declined as my lunch was already ruined. It was to my surprise when they came with the bill in full. Not impressed. I have many friends and family members that frequently go to this restaurant that will now never return. read more

This is mine and my husband's go to sushi restaurant. Decent prices for good sushi with good presentation. Menu has a good variety of rolls, bowls and bento boxes. They also have happy hour specials and scoops of ice cream for $1. We took our baby here as a newborn when I wanted my first post pregnancy meal to be sushi. He is now 9 months and it has never been a problem to bring him. They have a change table in the bathroom which of course is essential when bringing your baby. I previously gave this restaurant a good review and had been back many times and enjoyed their food and service, but the last few times I witnessed the wait staff being unnecessarily rude and just plain mean to delivery persons. Not cordial at all, even making comments like they can't get real jobs and laughing at the couriers after they left. I haven't been back since. You made a big signage outside your restaurant for months and tell people this is a all you can eat restaurant, but ended up not. That is false advertisement. You made get the one time business from people, because people were thinking they were walking into an all you can eat restaurant, but after they found out, they won't go back again!!!! I've been eating at this restaurant for years. Always ordering the same thing, and I've never been disappointed when I eat at the venue. However, NEARLY EVERY TIME I order by phoning in, I end up picking it up and getting home only to find out that food is INCORRECT, and the mistake was made by their staff on the phone. Also, when I take it back, THEY DON'T OWN the mistake, but charge me for the difference, even though I had to drive all the way back to make the switch. I've tried talking to the management, but they do nothing. I've decided that until they fix their lack of customer service for mistakes MADE BY THEIR OWN STAFF...I'll be making my pickup orders elsewhere...and I advise other people to do the same, or face the consequences of frequent mistakes with their orders. read more

Im from Calgary and just visiting family here in BC! Decided to go for new years dinner at Sushi King George...the restaurant layout and atmosphere was great however the service was terrible. The beginning of our dinner was okay we ordered our food half the table got drinks while the others waited a little which was okay I understand they're a little busy and backed up. After we are done eating the first half of our meal (mainly soup and cooked dishes) we were told they ran out of salmon. After asking about salmon alternatives, it took about another 20 mins until they came back to tell us they were out of salmon alternatives as well. Salmon being one of the popular items I wish we were told earlier they were running low instead of 40mins in. At this point we weren't going to let this ruin dinner so we just ordered rolls. We also ordered Oyster Motoyaki as well where we even confirmed when first ordering there were two oysters in one order... anyone who had Oyster Motoyaki before I'm sure you paint an image of two individual oysters baked with creamy sauce on top. Later they brought out the plates that looked like creme brûlée as their Oyster Motoyaki. Seeing the number of people we had and we had order just enough that everyone would get their "individual" oysters. Considering we ask how many oysters were in one order I wish they would have told us that they don't use fresh oysters with the shell instead they use packaged oysters. Overall my experience with the food and service was terrible and the staff weren't even apologetic about it. When we bought up our concerns they said "oh" and brushed it off. But I am really surprised when we have ordered .the waiter serve a pot of ice water, not hot brown rice tea. My stomach was cooling down at once. Don't get me wrong. I've been to this place for probably the twentieth time when this happened. I ordered a six-piece salmon sashimi along with an Alaska Roll and S.M.A.C Roll. Everything was tasty as usual until I found three pieces of fish scales on my sashimi. I did not tell them until we have finished the meal and after we got the bill, I casually mentioned it to the waitress. She went and told her manager and came back to deliver the message. APPARENTLY, FISH SCALE ENHANCES THE FLAVOUR AND TEXTURE OF THE SASHIMI AS SOME CUSTOMERS WOULD PREFER. First of all, at no other sushi place have I ever seen customers eating sashimi with fish scales on purpose. Not only did I not make a big deal out of it, I simply want an apology or something along the lines of "we'll be more careful next time". No. They had to give me an excuse as poor as a kid could think of. The service is great and the food taste delicious. I could not stand having this being a problem for other customers and have decided to give a review as a reminder to them if they happen to stumble upon this. Please don't make excuses to cover up some mistakes you've made just because customers might ask for refund or compensation. read more
