Good portion size, good price but quality and taste were lacking. I came here with B and E during the Coronvirus Pandemic. I wanted sushi and they were one of the few that were open for dine in. I ordered the nigiri bento box for $16.95. It came with sunomono, miso soup, tempura, chicken teriyaki, salad, 2 fried gyozas, 6 pieces of nigiri. The chicken tempura was overly fried/cooked. It was super dry. The nigiri rice was super lacking. I found a piece of undercooked or harden rice in my nigiri sushi. The salmon/tuna was very thinly sliced. The tempura was my favorite out of the entire bento box. It was crunchy and tasty. The miso soup was ok. It was not salty and so I do prefer it that way. I asked B and E about the food and they said they found the food "Ok". The restaurant itself is spacious. Service was good. I didn't find them wow or anything special. Will I come back? I am not sure. Maybe with friends who want to come here. I won't make a special trip here.

I reviewed Sushi King George on Google reviews and thought I'd share my thoughts here. Sushi King George is a decent place for sushi. It has a laid back atmosphere and is great if you want some quick, flavourful dishes. I am giving this restaurant 3- 3.5 stars and I would recommend it if you're in the area looking for a place to dine in. The reason for the average rating is because the food has not been consistent. The first time I had sushi, it was tasty and delicious. I looked at the fish and said 'yes, this is worth it.' Granted that experience was during the evening. However, I went back a second time at around 3-4pm, and ordered the bento box along with two side dishes. I am not sure what happens to the chefs when a bento box is ordered, but it was cold and did not taste fresh. The fish was grainy and the fried dishes were too oily, like they had been sitting on the counter for ages. The side dishes were also less than average. I walked away from that experience unsatisfied despite spending quite a bit. So I mentioned to my partner that we should try it once more. We sat down on a dark and rainy evening night in Surrey and ordered two miso soups, extra hot. I was amazed. The miso soup tasted excellent, I sat there in aww asking myself how my previous experience was lackluster. I couldn't wait for the main dishes, but instead of ordering a bento box, we ordered individual sushi rolls and nigiri and I can say without a doubt that it was delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, but I would not recommend the bento box. Instead try the individual dishes.

California roll with real crab meat

Love at first bite. I have been coming to this place since it was opened because fell in love with one dish here since day one. The restaurant has a very casual atmosphere, setting and decently nice service. I pretty much tried their whole menu already, most of food are pretty basic but their mixed sake drinks are refreshing and most of all, the one dish that's done almost perfect and I am really here for is..... here were the food I ordered this time; 1. King's salad with house sauce. Fresh and whatever house sauce they fused together, could become addicting. 2. Soft shell crab. Delicious! So far, this restaurant has the best soft shell crab. Perfectly seasoned and deep fried! I could munch on this all day long especially with some good sake. To be honest, I mainly come for this dish and this is a must have dish if you are eating at this place. Solid 4/5 for this dish. 3. Real crab California roll. I find it a bit dry and nothing special. 4. Salmon, ikura, masago, tamago, kani, tuna toro nigiris. Pretty basic, everything was fresh but this time around the tuna toro nigiris were a bit dry and not fatty. Overall, the service was friendly and the food were decently okay for its price. This is my favourite place for softshell crab and their various sake mixed drinks, just these 2 things alone, I would recommended if you are in the Surrey central area. Solid 4/5 for their softshell crab and this is what's called a softshell crab dish all you chefs and restaurants out there.

The portions at this restaurant were generous and the price is quite reasonable. The bento box I had was more than enough to eat and had a lot of variety so you can have a little bit of everything. The sushi/raw fish was fresh and of good quality and the cooked gyozas and chicken teriyaki were cooked well. The sauces on the rolls were tasty but not overwhelming. Location is hard to get to because it is on the East side of a major road and parking is not clearly marked. You need to park in the Burger King/London Drugs parking lot. Seating was spacious and the dining area was clean. A lot of people came in with "Skip the Dishes" bags which makes me think this is a very popular take out place.

Ordered for pick-up at this restaurant and the place is very busy for take home at a dinner time. The place is very nice, neat and clean and staff are wearing face coverings and offering hand sanitizer and tables were setup for social distancing. The food was very good and very tasty. No wonder they're very busy. I will definitely go back here and try other dishes.

Well...any of the other five star reviews nailed it. Place is outstanding!! The food was second to none and I have to say the service was great also!! The menu is huge and has something for everybody. Check out the pictures of the dishes we had attached to this post. They literally speak for themselves. Simply amazing!!! I can only recommend this place to everyone.

Build Your Own Sushi Bowl

Build Your Own Sushi Bowl Rice: White Rice Protein: Salmon & Prawn Tempura Vegetables: Avocado & Cucumber Toppings: Seaweed & Fish Flakes Sauce: Unagi Sauce Review: I came here before and ordered the same thing LOL. Last time I had a pretty pleasant experience and as a result I decided to come here again. I feel like the performance of the restaurant varies because I FOUND A FISH BONE IN MY SALMON and I didn't last time. The meal tasted good though, the avocado was fresh and GREEN, the cucumber was crisp and sweet, the salmon tasted pretty fresh and pLuMp, the prawn tempura was crunchy and hot, the fish flakes had good flavour and the thin strips of seaweed added flavour and saltiness to the sushi rice. The unagi sauce just tied everything together and complimented all of the toppings of this sushi bowl. However, my friend complained that in her bento box, her tempura was soggy and dAmP. Therefore, my conclusion of this restaurant being irregular is backed up. LOWKEY I FEEL SCAMMED CUZ THE PORTION WAS A BIT SMALL BUT LIKE ITS OKAY I would MAYBE (probably) come again but don't expect SUPER good sushi. It's really just a hit or miss, mediocre restaurant. Rating: 8/10 (maybe 7.5/10 because my friends tempura was SOGGY)

Spicy tuna (left) and salmon avocado with California roll.

The cultural lineage of this place is certainly interesting, since from what I understand, this is…read morethe only Canadian location of an Indian restaurant from Japan. The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!

The strawberries were not as sweet so maybe it would be better during strawberry season (whenever that is)? OREO BINGSOO - pretty good. My nephew liked it a lot CHEESECAKE BINGSOO - skip it. Expected it to be a small place serving some desserts but this place is huge and had a very young vibe! We looked around and everyone was digging into a big tub spooning out it's "shaved ice" like contents into small bowls and enjoying it. That's what I want i decided. It was Bingsoo! So delicious!! It comes in fruit flavours among others and we opted for strawberry bingsoo but I saw everyone going for a mango one. The bingsoo came in a big tub like bucket which had ice cream in the middle , ice on top and it was covered with strawberries and topped with whipped creme . We enjoyed it and it was frankly a little too much for 3 of us. We also tried the Nutella filled pancakes which were flaky and light! Definitely worth trying. We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better.
