I heard lots of good things about Sushi Wow but just was never really in the area to try it. I came with a friend for dinner here. I got chopped scallop roll. I did get to try a piece of the spicy salmon sushi. Food was delicious. Prices were reasonable here. Most importantly of all is the service here is great. The restaurant is family ran. The owner gave me a complimentary miso soup. My friend ordered a combo so her meal came with a miso soup. She topped my water when I needed it. I overheard her talking to the other table to let them know after spending so much they get a free sushi roll. The menu has a lot of of options to order from. The place itself is small and may not be the best or comfortable restaurant to be in. Most people do take out here or just eat and go. Plenty of free parking in the area side's street. read more

This is just a small inconspicuous restaurant along Granville and 49th St. I didnt feel like cooking, it just snowed and was cold outside. Ordering take out seems to be a good idea. The place is small, maybe 2-3 tables and a long bar. Place is clean, staff is friendly and attentive. I ordered the chicken donburi for about $13, not bad. It was in a bowl and portion was big. I saw this place when I was driving so I parked my car outside the restaurant and gave it a try. After I entered the restaurant I found it had limited space for dine in. They have all the typical choices of sushi rolls and appetisers plus some Korean dishes. Yes, the owner is Korean. I ordered a pink combo and salmon roll. I was looking for a nice and low budget lunch place, and stumbled into this cute little sushi restaurant. The place is fairly small, however it's about the normal side of all sushi places. It has a L shape bar with a couple tables for groups of two and four. They have an intensive menu on their special sushi rolls, as well as sushi combos. I ordered the sashimi combo on their lunch combo as I was craving for sashimi. It included two pieces of salmon and tuna sashimi, fairly good size, 8 pieces of dynamite rolls, green salad and chicken or beef teriyaki. The portion is pretty big, and I couldn't even finish the whole box. The miso soup was also included. All the ingredient were made fresh, and they are pretty generous with their portion. There are two chefs working in the kitchen, a serve takes orders and serve the table. She came to check on me a few times, offered to top up my tea, very friendly. They also have other lunch combos which priced very reasonable as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who's a sushi lover. Maybe next time I'll come and try their special rolls. read more

I love this place! It has that mom and pop restaurant feel where they treat you like friends and family. It's a very great secret gem! It's very small inside. Literally an equivalent of a sushi bar style from Japan! The sushi is very fresh and the prices are super cheap! Wow indeed. The prices make it look like a cheap basic sushi place, but this is legit good stuff! The menu is good value all around, but the prices for the combos in particular are insane, it's tons of sushi for the price of what could be one roll at comparable restaurants. Also the menu is huge with lots of interesting options, including special rolls with brown and black rice, and many vegetarian rolls. Sushi was what I was interested in, but there are plenty of entrees besides just sushi. I ordered and picked up takeout for a hang with some friends. I changed my mind about the roll I wanted in the middle of the call to order and then had to call back to add something I missed, but the person on the phone stayed very friendly and patient, which is amazing because I would've given myself a headache. I got the Black Tiger Roll and a Wakame Salad. I was drawn to this mainly because I wanted to try something with black rice, and the wasabi tobiko sounded interesting. It was very good! Besides just a nice combination of flavours, the ingredients seemed to be of good quality. The wakame was just what you'd expect but it was done right. Again, both the portion size and quality are above what you might expect at this price. I don't live near the Marpole area at all which is a shame because I would love to keep coming back and trying different rolls. If we ever have a get together at this friend's place again I will definitely be suggesting this place again though, and I don't think anyone will object since we were all really impressed. read more

I got the Yam Crazy Combo this time, consists of spicy yam roll, mango yam roll (?) & yam cone. Impressed by the cone's filling to rice ratio, most places just fill majority of cone with rice, this one had filling all the way down. It was busy when we got here, but I think it was a time when people were just finishing up so it became emptier soon after we we're seated. I ordered some basic rolls. Just the negitoro roll and chopped scallop roll. My friend recommended the combos, which are really filling or their special rolls. Personally, I don't really like a lot of sauce on my rolls so I just stuck with the basics. The food came out not too long after ordering. I liked how they gave plenty of ginger. The chopped scallop was good, but there was too much cucumber in the roll. A couple pieces I'd say were almost 1/3 chopped scallop and 2/3 cucumber. Negitoro was just ok. Excellent service and excellent sushi! The dining area is pretty small, so if you have a big group you might want to take it to go. The Marpole special roll is great, and everything we got was fresh and full of flavor. Prices aren't bad too! The basic rolls are as low as 5-6 dollars a plate. After seeing the good reviews I decided to try out Sushi Wow. I ordered 2 party trays the special party tray and the wow tray. My order was ready when I arrive for pick up and trays were good value. The chicken teriyaki is delicious because they fry it differently where there's a nice crunch unlike regular chicken teriyaki. I liked how there was tempura and it was fried nicely! Well if you dig waiting 2 hours for your skip order this is the place for you! No heads up from the restaurant that it may be a while like you sometimes get with akip, just a crappy surprise. If you are hungry like me look somewhere else coz you never know with Sushi Wow could be 40 minutes and could be hours. My favourite Sushi place in Marpole! Always fresh and sooo good! I am a regular guest at this restaurant, and I come here 1-2 times per week. Customer service is great, girls are nice and welcoming. Sushi Wow have big choice of different rolls, but I usually go for cream cheese ones. The only one disadvantage of this placethst it is small: there are 10-12 bar chair seats, 1 table for 2 and one table for 4 people. I usually visit the restaurant by myself, so I don't feel uncomfortable. Overall, I highly recommend to come and taste! read more

This is a tiny Korean-operated Japanese restaurant along Granville Street. The restaurant is small and decor is nothing fancy. It only seats around 15 people and only has one big table (seats 4 people); the rest is bar seating. I don't recommend this restaurant for large groups. Service was great - servers were polite and attentive, and tea was topped off regularly. To be honest, it would be shocking if service is bad for such a small restaurant. Pros: - The menu is big and full of special rolls! - Prices are reasonable. Special rolls are around $8-$11 and sushi combos are around $10. - Generous portion - huge pieces of avocado and fillings with a thin layer of rice. Con: - Seating is tight and not very comfortable. The table at the bar is small so if you order a lot of dishes, then you will run out of table space. - Flavour is pretty darn good, but there are flaws in execution. The sushi falls apart when you pick them up and some pieces were overly wet. Tip: The regular rolls were nothing special, so I would order the special rolls instead. The chicken yakisoba was delicious as well! Flavour was spot on with a charred flavour, but nothing was dry or overcooked (some of the vegetables were a little burnt though). Overall, a solid sushi restaurant with an extensive menu. Prices are decent, BUT it can be pricey if you order a lot of special rolls. It was around $15/person excluding tips, which is a little pricey considering the atmosphere and environment of the restaurant. read more

The portion size could be a bigger like other places (unagi don and spicy salmon sashimi) but it's decent sizing. Service was good. No complaints. The chopsticks were nice . I wouldn't normally comment on the chopsticks but for 1 time use ones you don't need to rub the crap out of them together to get the slivers out. We were seated right at the door so every time the door opened we felt the cold January draft. It didn't bother me too much. Other than that, the food is delicious. read more

Found this little gem of a sushi spot by using yelp! It's definitely a small place but super clean and has a really amazing selection of rolls! They literally have like 70 different roles and they all look phenomenal... Amazing photos of each one on the wall. It's only got about eight seats and then 10 seats at the bar, so it's quite small but very attentive staff and I would say pretty good sushi. I was looking at the place across the street and chose this one because of the yelp review. I'm eating healthy, so I went with the sashimi combo it was 1695 for 12 pieces, and it was fantastic! 292 types of salmon macro how Macci and octopus... I added two pieces of Touro as well. Also went with the green salad... Asked to substitute ginger dressing. The ginger salad dressing was to die for!
