Scallop Hand Roll
Kayla A.

Driving by while running errands and was craving sushi. Let's be real, when am I not crazing sushi! Grabbed a spot at the sushi bar and ordered a few things to satiate me. Togi was the sweet sushi chef and even though the place wasn't packed, he had plenty to do and did a really good job! I was impressed that they gave you a little platter with all the sauces, including spicy mayo, my personal favorite. The service was very quick, and the food was quite good. I think I may have eaten here before, but I think I got it to go. Definitely a good spot to try if you're in the area !

Cute place for a quick lunch. Staff is always always friendly and professional. Food is done quick.

Very nice sushi place, service was slightly slow, but sushi was really delicious, there is parking in front of the store, prices were reasonable.

Food taste good but it was pricey for the size of thr actual roll and ingredients that went to it. The Koo roll was very refreshing though... if they named the roll after the restaurant thinking it would be their flagship roll... they are not mistaken. It was very unique, the first roll I have eaten without rice. Service was good, pleasant server. They got our order wrong and gave us gyoza instead of the fried oyster. When we returned the gyoza, they said we can have it for free. Talk about customer service

Sushi koo has evolved. It used to be better. It's still pretty good. It used to be a good value now it's just ok. There are other joints in LA that produce a higher quality product at about the same price. They have spruced the joint up a bit. Same stools around the sushi bar as ever. Quick service.

I love my spicy tuna tempura rolls!!

Quadruple the price but not half as good as it used to be. This used to be the affordable sushi spot. I'm talking back in the Sushi Mac days. Rolls were $1.50 when I first started going and it was cash only. There were no fancy rolls, it was just basic and the only apps were edamame. You got up and got your own condiments. Now I understand why the prices had to increase, but why did the food decline? They don't have to worry about me any longer. This was my first time going in years and it will be my last. There is no longer a draw to go if the food is no longer cheap or good.

I had a great dinner with my son. First of all, the food was simply amazing fresh and perfect presentation I asked the chef(sand dog) what his recommendations were and he prepared us several plates. Every plate was better than the first. Very compassionate chef truly loves his craft...our server was Donna Seems to know all the regular customers perfect customer service made sure we were OK. I totally recommend this place hands-down Koo sushi another place to add to my list of places to go. Priced just right great neighborhood Great ambience parking is free as long as you're gonna eat at the restaurant. No need to pay for valet They'll let you right in for free.

Great place for sushi and anything to do with sashimi but I think the portion is too small and the price is not. If you go for the taste, just go! But if consider the price too, probably you'll need twice the budget. I ordered a few separate plates and the chef combined everything into the large plate (called family plate or something). What's inside is not the original family plate. I usually spend $25 for a full meal in LA but, here, it's actually like $50 for me alone to get full. The sashimi pieces are pretty small. The poke bowl was also small. The roll, also, very small. They have macaron ice cream in a mango flavor but I think it tastes 100% more like melon. Yuzu drink was good! Free parking! No validation! Restaurant has parking lot which is great considered the area it's in.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

Nice of the chef to switch out roe for halibut for me on my omakase. However, probably the worst omakase I've ever had. No creativity, nothing felt premium, chewy fish, flavors didn't mesh, and half of it was salty. The miso soup wasn't scorching, which i appreciated at first but that meant the last few sips were fairly room temp. The real crab handroll was good. If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.

Long story short, our dining experience felt rushed. We waited about 45 min- an hour for a table. Once we were seated, we were pushed to order right away. I had come here before but it was my husband's first time dining. He needed more time to decide and look over the menu. Well he didn't get much of a chance to look at what he wanted to eat because the server was standing there waiting. Literally staring. What would you like to order? I explained to her that it was his first time here and he needed time to look over the menu and asked her if she can come back later. She proceeded to say it will take longer to get our orders in and delay the kitchen staff. That didn't end there. Right after our food was served, one of the servers came by to ask if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We said no. Shortly after, the server dropped the bill at our desk. Mind you, we were not even close to finishing our meal. I understand there are other customers waiting for a table but you shouldn't be rushing the customers currently eating. They clearly prioritize turning tables faster to make profit. It was not a pleasant or enjoyable dining experience. I would choose another sushi spot.

It was definitely not what I've expected or ever experienced in a Japanese restaurant. We were quickly greeted by the staff and be seated by the wall. The upholstery of our seats were torn. The area where we were sitting was a bit too dark and could definitely add more lights for customers to see their menus. After giving a look at the menu, our server asked if we were ready. I said it's our first time so we need some time to look through the menu. She replied ok and left. We mainly ordered sushi items. Servers brought over each item one at a time. When I almost finished mine, my family is still waiting for theirs. You do see the staff walk by the tables constantly. However, I would hope the servers would ask how is everything and if we need anything else. Overall, sushi tastes fine. I probably won't be back given the experience that we had.

While the fish quality here is great, you will get more bites that seem a lot more experimental with flavors and garnishes. I didn't like every single bite but I expected that. A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. Brought my friend here for her bday and we left full and happy and a little drunk so I'd say it was a successful night!

I don't think I've come close to finding another place quite like this that can match the vibe, menu, team, and sushi like you find in Japan, especially at a place like Toyosu market. For those who have been to Daiwa Sushi, this reminds me of it so much! I stopped by Monday around 1:15 and the place was still packed. Some of my favorites included the sweet shrimp and the fried head that came later, the toro sushi that comes as chutoro and otoro, the toro cut roll, salmon belly, salmon, kanpachi, halibut, albacore, spanish mackerel, and red snapper . . . so basically everything I ordered was my favorite!
