We had some of the chef specials, tiger roll, Chirashi bowl & Honeymoon Shooter (Oyster, United, quail egg, salmon egg & sake) - to die for. We must eat here again! The service was great, the food came quickly and it was high quality sashimi. The he salmon was to buttery fresh! The sushi chef even gave is a complimentary taste of the tempura salmon. Don't go there if you want a decent cooked takeout meal. Waiting over 45 minutes, purchasing over 40.00 of food, and after driving back home to find the order incorrect and of poor quality, was only the beginning of this debacle. I called in to get it corrected and was told I was in the wrong. I then drove back directly to the restaurant to correct the order, to no avail, even returning the food at their request, with no refund or interest in on their part for resolving their errors. Have you ever seen a teriyaki salmon bowl as raw sushi on a lump of white rice with absolutely no teriyaki? The teriyaki beef entree I ordered came as the thinnest strips of 1/4 inch poor quality meat I've ever seen, on a supposed bed of vegetables which consisted of a few scraps of shredded cabbage. Worst of all was the attitude and total lack of responsibility on the part of the staff. read more

This was one of the worst eating experiences I've ever had. The food was alright, and the atmosphere was alright as well. The worst part of the experience was the service. We were seated by one person, our order was taken by a different person, and our order was delivered by another different person. Our food took around 30 minutes to come, but it took a server 20 minutes to ask us what we wanted to order. Our server was rude, and when one of the rolls we ordered didn't come until after we already got our bill, we were blamed for it. I would not recommend eating here, as the food was alright, but the service was terrible enough to never go back. read more

The food was good but the service was lacking. I visited this restaurant at lunch time and ordered an don katsu with sauce on the side. The waiter asked if I wanted the entrée and I said yes, because I want don katsu as my main entrée. However, the waiter managed to turn a bento box don katsu into a dinner-sized don katsu with dinner-sized prices. Worse yet, when the food arrived, I was given a chicken katsu. I asked immediately if they were sure this was a don katsu and they insisted that the white chicken meat was pork. read more

I then took a slip and got a mouth full of pond sludge in my mouth. Yuck. The restaurant was nearly empty but the wait staff seemed completely befuddled and overwhelmed. We asked for silverware four times before we received them for the kids. Everyone's food arrived together except my 5yo's chicken teriyaki kids meal. We mentioned it twice to the waitress and I finally had to go back and speak to someone about it... Which is finally when they started to cook it. It was kind of bummer to rate this so low... The food was all really great but the completely awful service ruined it for us. I hope they figure out how to fix it!! read more

Not bad. Another restaurant, operated by Koreans, that features decent Japanese food items. It also has several tasty sounding Korean dishes. Not so expensive. No issue with service. It kind of reminded me of Sushi Station. If you are looking for a reasonably priced restaurant that offers a wide range of Japanese dishes from sushi to udon to teriyaki meats, you'll enjoy the experience here. I love their Korean dishes, namely the Bibimbap and the soft tofu stew. Both take a bit longer than sushi but come to the table piping hot and delicious. Their sushi rolls are fresh and delicious, and the Chirasi sushi is great. They also make a big deal for birthdays, so great place to celebrate. You will enjoy it. read more

I look for freshness, cleanliness, artistry, friendless of staff, variety of fish offered and overall a great experience that will make me return again and again. Kuchi is such a place... perfect for that matter. All of the sushi chefs at Kuchi are really tops, however, I do have my favorite and his name is Chris! Chris definitely knows how to make anything you order be not only artistic, but so delicious you'll have a difficult time not ordering everything, until you just have no more room. My go-to sushi restaurant that never disappoints! Have been to Sushi Kuchi in Carlsbad several times and all have been very fresh and tasty. This restaurant also have the best parking and space! I usually have to make my way out to Carlsbad for decent sushi, but I'm so glad it is not that far from my place. My family and I went for dinner and loved the overall atmosphere. i ordered sashimi and the fish was all dried. not going back. i do not recomend going there. I was there with my nephew, just the two of us. My nephew wants to go to the bathroom so I take him. I come back and someone else were sitting at our table. They thought we had left!!!!!??????!!!! really????? I find the waiter and he apologized but.... I was speechless. I will not go back there.
