Nice cozy Japanese restaurant in North Plainfield. We ordered Squid salad, soft shell crab and Tonkatsu Ramen soup. Definitely recommend the Tonkatsu,, very flavorful and is delicious with the eggs that are cooked just right. The pork in the soup was super tender and seasoned perfectly. Getting sushi is pretty easy around here. It's a lot harder finding some that's any good or at least edible in Plainfield. Sushi N Noodle is one of the rare that's good too. Also they have pretty good prices on most rolls and other items. They have a large list of rolls that mostly have seafood but a few are good for vegans. I brought the girl here to get some rolls at lunch. It has so many to choose from but our choices were narrowed a lot since most of the rolls have seafood. The majority of these seem to have shrimp or something like that. Instead we were looking for the ones with no meat. Yes fish is meat you ass, shut up. After looking for awhile she picked the Oshinko Roll. It's $5.95 and pretty simple. This is yellow radish, which is called oshinko in Japanese, so we learned something. I picked the Veggie Roll. It's $7.50 and has a little more in this. This has avocado, beets, cucumbers, mushrooms, and oshinko too. Beware of the odd business hours. It closes pretty early sometimes. Had the spicy beef udon noodles. Excellent broth & flavor! Sister had the spicy shrimp ramen and was quite pleased. Daughter had the tonkotsu udon and proclaimed it decent not great. I think she felt it wasnt authentic enough. Shes a Ramen /Asian food snob and had a ton of it in her college days. My friend and I decided to meet up somewhere close to home. Came across this place via Yelp. Saw all the good reviews and decided to give it a shot.. well it was worth it! My friend got the short rib ramen which was nicely presented! I got the Philly roll, Baked Scallop Roll, and the Flame roll. The flame roll was by far the best with pico de Gallo on top! Full of flavor and did not taste weird at all! For the table we ordered edamame that came with spicy Mayo. Overall it's a nice neighborhood sushi place, reasonably priced and the food was really good also presented well! We have been coming to this place for years. We drive all the way from North Aurora and it's worth it every time. Our favorite is the Spicy Beef Ramen. Seems like with every visit it taste better. They don't give you the complementary salad anymore or when your done the slice of Orange but I'm thinking it's to keep cost down. Anyways the Ramen fills you up. When you pull up the place looks closed but it's always looked that way. We didn't try any sushi this time but we will the next. We also had some red wine. Fantastic. Get the tonkotsu ramen. It's the best I've had from a restaurant, and I eat and try ramen any time it's offered. It beats most of the places in the city by a large margin. The broth, eggs, and pork are to die for. Also reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back for this dish. You can tell they really put some care into this. Bravo! Service was fantastic, even though we came by mid-day around 3:00. Very good. Ambiance is also great, cute little shop with relevant decor. We drive 50 minutes just to come here, when we're able. I'm from out of state so I have no idea how well known this place is or if I found a hidden gem but the food was amazing! I ordered the beef tacos and pot stickers. Husband has sushi. We ordered fried rice and Tonkatsu Ramen for our 1 & 3.5 year old who btw are so picky. They ate everything at the table! That's how delicious everything was! The tacos were huge!! By the time the tacos came I had a good amount of pot stickers so I only ate one but took the other togo and ate it for dinner :) The service was exceptional. Everything happened quickly but not rushed. The staff was friendly and understanding of our kids being loud and messy at times. The owner came by and talked with us, such a great guy! The ambiance is great for meeting friends, a casual date or eating with family. We got there at 3 when they opened and there were other customers waiting to eat. The restaurant statted to fill up after that but I barely noticed the other people, it wasnt loud at all. So we stopped by this place for a quick meal, now the food is decent I will say that, but what dropped my rating was the service, our waiter was walking around with no direction and the sushi chef was straight up yelling at him. It made the environment so awkward. If I could have walked out I would of but we already ordered. The ramen was okay, it was super simple with just broth, noodles, and 2 tempura shrimps. However, the SUSHI was INCREDIBLE. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll the first time, and the second time I got the Tim roll and the dynamite roll. I also had their Peachito which was a great pairing. It was stronger than expected! I was driving through the area and was in the mood for sushi. With 4.5 star, I was excited that this place was on the way home. The place is pretty small. On the plus side, there was a TV that was playing the NIU football game. We ordered the sashimi dinner and went with the special roll called Tim Roll. There were a couple of reviews that talked about it so I was curious. I get the feeling that the waitress doesn't normally work there and was just helping out since she couldn't answer any questions we had (what's in a certain roll, which fish was in the sashimi dinner, etc.). It could be that they were short staffed around the holidays. The order took over 20 minutes to come out. The sashimi looked good, but not that tasty. Their sashimi is not bad, but could be better and fresher quality. But, if I'm here though, I would just eat be rolls. Sunflower roll, volcano roll, Chicago something roll are the 3 roll names I remember. Just show the chief my pictures and u should be all sets Their tamago is a must try here! It's fresh made! This was our first time here. We've tried other local places that serve ramen and they weren't vwry good. This place was delicious and hit the spot. We got the beef with asparagus. It was sweet for my husband but he still enjoyed it. Its very tjin and tender and full of flavor. I got the pork ramen and it was great. Not as good as places up north but for our area it's the best I've found. My husband got the atomic pork ramen and loved it. He was hoping it was be spicer but he was able to eat it without dying. This place is so freaking good! Love their Udon noodles. Usually get the beef and the shrimp one. Only sucky part about the shrimp one is that it comes with like 1 or 2 small shrimp on the side, which is definitely not enough shrimp. I think for the price you are paying they need to put more shrimp. Definitely not worth the price. Good but not worth the price! The beef one, they put a good amount of beef in it. We also get their hot fried sushi which is pretty darn good. We have never sat down and ate there FYI. We have just always ordered to go. read more
