Went here for my boyfriend's birthday dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The service was attentive , the atmosphere is super quaint, and the food was superb. We sampled the calamari and "monkey brains" appetizers. Then tried the volcano, lobster tempura, Colorado, red dragon, and heart attack rolls. Everything was fresh, tasty, and so beautiful. Who Knew this Little Gem was in Westminster in a Very unassuming Shopping mall?? I finally stopped in after wanting Sushi and not wanting to head downtown. Lychee Martini started my list for drinks, and it was delicious. Then I switched to Sprite and without hesitation it always stayed full. Seaweed Salad and came with Free Wonton Soup. Both were spot on. And I love Seaweed Salad. On To the Sushi Rolls. Delicious and a good Rice to Fish ratio. Great Presentation and the Fish is fresh. I finally found him! The best sushi chef in all of Colorado! He's been the head chef at numerous sushi restaurants in Colorado especially the critically acclaimed Sushi Den. He's also been all around the world learning the art and now he's made a place of his own. I've been following this chef every time he's moved restaurants but after Sushi Den I lost all trace of him... I was driving up to Boulder one day when my friends and I wanted something to eat, I recommended some sushi and my friend Yelped the closest sushi restaurant and Sushi North came up as the first result. Good reviews, so we thought why not? We opened the doors and there he was, making artwork in the form of sushi. His food is amazing, not only because he handpicks each fish he uses for the restaurant, but because of the smile and passion he has making each one. It really feels like he makes you his one and only customer. I recommend his sushi above all else in Colorado. I am a total fan and the ambiance is really soothing. Fresh fish and some real talent behind the sushi bar. A little pricey for the location but we shall totally be back!! Many regulars that you could tell go here as much for the nice conversation and laughs as much as the food - and that speaks volumes! So lucky we stumbled upon this sushi restaurant while driving through the area. Just like the other reviews mentioned, don't let the muted and drab exterior fool you....the interior of the restaurant is clean, well decorated and has great ambiance. We tried several types of sushi tonight and every single item blew us away! Plate after plate rolled out with beautiful presentation, and fresh, artfully crafted sushi. Rumor has it that the head chef at Sushi Den left Sushi Den to start this place. I been meaning to check this place out after months of hearing great reviews about it and last night was the night. If you are not familiar with this area the place can be hard to find. It is tucked in the corner of a rundown plaza. I grew up in the area so I knew this was the restaurant that is in placement of the old Jade City Chinese restaurant and I am so glad I finally tried this place out. My boyfriend and I went here last night for a sushi date. Honestly, we were quite surprised how busy the place was for being a snowy night. The place was small, but cute, modern, and chic. They definitely did a lot of renovation to the restaurant to bring it to where it is today. There were two waiters for the night. Both were friendly and attentive. The whole ambiance of the place was great. We ordered the jalapeño sashimi, crispy flower roll, melody roll, colorado roll, baked green mussels, and the kalbi appetizer. My boyfriend was starving and I wanted a taste of everything. For drinks, the waiter recommended the hot plum sake or the hot pineapple sake. I am a big fan of pineapple, but my boyfriend is not so we decided on the plum. It was light and not bad at all. As for the sushi, it is the best sushi north of Denver. It is definitely hard to find a good sushi place outside of Denver. The first dish that was brought out to us was the jalapeño sashimi which is Sushi North's take on yellowtail with jalapeño. I was hesitant at first to try it because the skin was left on the sashimi and I didn't want a potent fish taste. However, it was perfectly executed. It had all the right flavors and the grape tomatoes added sweetness to the dish. The rolls were excellent as well. It was pretty on the plate and delicious on the palate. The mussels were also good. My boyfriend really enjoyed the kalbi which I thought was okay, but weird to have at a so-called sushi restaurant. I think this place is actually a mixture of Japanese and Korean cuisine which is totally fine by me. I am so glad we finally have a good sushi place in Westminster (more like Northglenn). read more

Service was excellent. Food was good, with appropriate portions - but not exceptional. I had tempura udon, which had a quite savory broth but the noodles and tempura were both very average. My wife enjoyed the ahi tuna salad, but both my small salad and her salad entree were over dressed. Extra pluses were a nice, calm and quiet location, and sushi menu that looked promising. We just weren't in that mood, so can't comment either way. I feel overall 3.5-4.0, and will give these nice people the benefit of the doubt. We would try it again! read more

Yummy!! We just stopped in for the first time! We haven't had sushi since we moved to Colorado because we are a lot bit snobby about sushi. However, this was delicious. We got chicken yaki soba, deluxe platter, monkey brain roll, heart attack roll, hot sake, and mochi for $85 (good deal). The food was wonderful! The heart attack was to die for!! Introduced to this place by a friend who goes there often. We arrived on a slow night and simply asked the Joe to give us whatever he wanted to make. WITHOUT DOUBT THE BEST SUSHI EXPERIENCE EVER! The only way to describe the dishes served to us is art. Everything was both beautiful and an amazing blend of flavors. This place is pretty awful. Came here on a Friday night craving some sushi and left very disappointed. They nickel and dime you for every little thing ($2.50 for a bowl of miso?? $5 for a bowl of edamame??) Most places I go to would give those items for free. Another member in our party ordered the Clear Soup and was charged $4 even though it was in the same size bowl as the miso & was not much different in taste?? Now the sushi. We ordered the Dragon roll, Colorado roll, maki & hamachi rolls, and sushi dinner platter. The Dragon and Colorado rolls were okay, but for some reason they just didn't seem filling. The maki roll was okay as well, with the tuna tasting decently fresh. The hamachi however, was dismal in taste, and there were bones in a few of the rolls. The sushi dinner was okay too, but nothing to write home about. To cap off our overpriced and mediocre dinner, the two servers (one male and one female) delivered some of the worst service and attitudes I've ever encountered. Not only was the food service slow, but when we tried to flag them down to order more food (since we were still hungry), both servers blatantly ignored our raised hands even though they both looked at our table multiple times. Prior to taking our second order, the male server proceeded to go out of his way to print another table's bill and give it to them, all the while smiling and asking how their meal was. Not to mention, their overall attitude towards our table was unfriendly and unpleasant. Came here a few nights ago on the way back from a really long road trip. The restaurant was pretty nice and I was pretty excited to try the sushi here, sushi is something I love to eat and I really enjoy trying the rolls restaurants have to offer. I ordered some gyozas, tuna sashimi, octopus sashimi, and the red dragon roll. The gyozas were incredible, probably some of the best I've had. Definitely a must have, the crispy texture is to die for. The sashimi and sushi was also very good, but a roll I really liked was the Melody, which my family ordered. The roll was sweet and savory, a roll I would definitely order next time I come back. Overall a really good restaurant, definitely one I would like to come back to! :D read more

We recently placed an order on line for same day pick up. Once we hit the confirm button, the order was placed for 3 days later. We had no way to cancel. My credit card was immediately charged. We called every day to cancel but no one answered. We called the day we were to pick up the order and no one answered. I received a voicemail later to say my order has been sitting there and it's getting cold. I called to tell them them the situation and was told they had been out of town. I explained I had no way to cancel. They said their website should only accept same day orders and there must have been a problem with it. I was told they would not credit me because the food had already been made. Terrible customer service. Did not offer compensation , told me to take it up with my bank but had no problem charging me. I have to say I have lived in Colorado for about 10 years now from Southern California where I would say sushi is a higher standard with good reason. I have been to many sushi restaurants from CA,WA,CO,NY,IL,FL. I would say my standards are high. With all that being said I walked in at 10:20 pm and no one was in the shop but me. I was immediately greeted and sat at the Bar where the owner stood ready to go. Felt very traditional classic sushi bar, what you're always looking for! I ordered a small sapporo and the DRAGON ROLL. I saw pictures of it and thought it looked like the best looking roll I have seen. I love spice and always order dragon rolls. This roll is not like any other dragon roll I have had and now holds the top standard for me. All I can say is it was perfect. I could eat one of these every week and never get sick of it. Everything about it was custom. It had multiple sauces on it and unusually decorated with bell peppers and tomatoes which was what brought it home for me. I will now tell everyone I talk about sushi too they have to try this place out. The family who runs the shop are very nice and easy to talk too. I think I found my new favorite family restaurant.
