Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. My husband and I weren't super hungry so we just ordered some rolls and my son got a item from their kids menu. The kids menu is such a good deal for the price you get a lot of food. I felt like the rolls needed to be rolled tighter. Each piece was falling apart once I picked it up. Sushi was OK, nothing memorable. They were having drink specials on Coors and sake so I saw a lot of tables drinking that. A hidden gem, indeed! Thanks to all the Yelpers who enticed us with their 5-star reviews! Upon entering this cozy place, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Our server and the staff were very attentive and friendly. We ordered several appetizers, but the star of the show was the tuna carpaccio! If you're in town, you have to try it! It was seared to perfection with peppery goodness, and a vinegary sauce that was a delight to the senses! The two rolls we ordered were called the Mexican roll and the Godzilla roll. I can't quite remember what the combination of flavors and fish were, but both tasted fantastic! We also enjoyed our Nigori unfiltered sake very much. Campai! Mika Sushi always satisfies that Sushi craving. There sushi is always fresh and the service is always nice. My favorite thing to to at Mika is go for the lunch specials. You can order a lunch special which has both nigiri sushi and sashimi and a tuna for around 20 bucks! It is a great deal and hits the spot for a nice sushi lunch. If your more in the mood for a bento box they are also very tasty for around 15 bucks. My favorite is the Shrimp or Chicken Tempura boxes and again they hit the spot for a tasty and filling lunch! My husband and I were up this way to drop off a car to be worked on. It was close to dinner time and we didn't want to deal with traffic going home so we decided to find somewhere close by. We were both feeling sushi and Mika had good reviews with other food options our little one would eat. The kids bento boxes were HUGE. I've tried this place a handful of times now and each time has been amazing. It's a hidden gem, 10/10 for me. The sushi rolls have always been super fresh. The customer service is always great. Really love their heart attack roll (deep fried jalapeño, cream cheese), fried sweet potato roll, aac (asparagus, avocado and cucumber) roll and their River roll (eel, avocado, cucumber and tobiko). Their Godzilla roll is also one to mention. It has spicy tuna inside and then seared salmon and tuna (blowtorch style) on the top. It's honestly perfect. The presentation of the sushi at this place was so so cool, I would come back again just to see them being out the plate with liquid nitrogen. The sweet potato tempura roll was everything I wanted it to be, crunchy in the middle and sweet in the top. The crab cheese wontons weren't super flavorful and crispy. Was surprised to see that even for delivery, they do take pride in the presentation, and didn't skimp on ginger, wasabi or soy sauce for delivery. Tried a couple different sushi rolls here and one of my favorites is the black dragon roll. So good! Make sure to read the descriptions of the sushi rolls. I'm so sad, this used to be my favorite spot. But some poor service experiences over the past year have dramatically made me decide to not go here anymore. Pro-tip: Read your receipts and track your order when you're dining in. If doing a few rounds of BOGO sake, ask to keep the bottles on your table to keep count. On several different occasions, our table had ordered the buy-one-get-one free sake special. We've been fooled on this twice--getting charged for more sake than we ordered. The first time, the waitress brought out a bill for 8 sakes, when we had only ordered 6. She exclaimed that we ordered 8 but all 5 of us at the table were certain we did not. She did not agree to make any adjustments. The second time, with the same waitress, we were only given 3 sakes when we ordered 4. We recalled our first experience with her so we made a point to keep track of our sake. After we finished the third, we asked for the fourth and she responded with, "This is the fourth, you want a fifth?" We were only the 2nd table during lunch and she was the only waitress on the floor that we saw. She turned to the bar and asked them, and then turned back to tell us that we had four sakes already. We disagreed, but again no adjustments were made. Lastly, we decided to no longer order sake, because we had been screwed over on it twice. We gave it another shot because some other friends wanted to go for their lunch special. Four of us dined in, two got the 2-roll special and two 3-roll specials with water. Our friends covered the bill and later asked us to Venmo them. To our surprise the bill was about $25 more than anticipated considering the lunch price before tip was applied. Unfortunately he only grabbed the credit card receipt that did not have a break down of each item. So we could not verify what the issue was. To add to our experience, it was the same waitress each time during these issues. It might be an unfortunate coincidence. read more
