In the end my friend and I both ordered Bento Boxes. I chose dumplings and sushi for my options. My friend ordered teriyaki chicken and mixed tempura. The sushi is great. We always try a bunch of rolls of fresh fish. Don't do any of the tempura or cooked rolls. The citrus is out of this world good. Their sushi and sashimi are delicious too. I usually go once a month with the family and have a great time. Now onto some things they could improve. The coke tastes weird. Maybe you want to change your machine, but as a coca cola guy, it continues to be an issue. I love a coke with dinner, but never at this place. Last Friday I placed a large to go order. They said 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. After 45 minutes I asked the owner about my order. She went to the back and brought out my ticket and gave it to the chef. I was ticked off that it hadn't been started on. She offered us water(I took my daughter for the pickup) and was extremely apologetic. We waited 1/2 hour on top of the promised time. In the end she was very apologetic and got us a free tempura order to go. So why do I still give it 5 stars? Because people make mistakes. Anyone who owns a restaurant knows how much hard work is put into it. You don't go bashing someone's work just because they weren't quick enough to fill up your water. This place delivers most of the time, just not this one. They still deserve a true rating based on the relationships they build. Happened to be in the area and came here not expecting too much, but was pleasantly surprised. The server was so friendly and attentive and the food was delicious!! The sashimi was fresh and the pieces were very thick. The rolls were delicious especially the albacore roll with the fried onion garnish that was placed on top which was light and crispy and the sauces that accompanied the rolls were very flavorful. Stopped here for dinner on a trip between LA to Phoenix, a short drive from I-10 freeway. Sat at sushi bar, was greeted by staff and sushi chefs. Menu is extensive. Started with hot green tea, received a cup and my own hot pot of tea, a nice touch. Ordered tuna sashimi as a first course, the cuts were generous. Then had a rainbow roll which was much larger than most, very fresh, the chef made a colorful edible decoration which made the presentation standout. Finished with a delicious cold tofu ginger salad. My family and I have been coming here for years now. Every time it gets worse and worse. The fish is amazing! The owners and mostly all the staff are awful. I have never seen a place be ran so horribly. Tonight's experience was the straw that broke the camels back. We arrived this evening 11/14/2021 at around 4pm. We ordered two orders of salmon sushi. Edamame. A bento box and a salmon lover roll and yellowtail lover roll. It took about 15 minutes to get the edamame. We then got our salmon sushi and bento box. New tables began to show up after us and were getting the food that they ordered, yet we weren't getting the rest of ours. We waited for an hour and 15 minutes. Still no rolls. I called over the waitress and she said she had no clue what was going on. They then tried to bring out a roll and I explained I wasn't paying for it. The owner came over and said if you eat it then you will have to. So I told her to take the plate away. I am absolutely blown away. I feel bad for the servers who have to put out the owners fires. Sushi on takes on way too many Togo orders. We tried to explain that but the owner didn't care. Not only will we never be back I will make sure I spread the word of this awfully ran restaurant. My husband and I are new to the neighborhood and wanted sushi. We were happy to discover Sushi On 1 mile from our house. We went when we were hungry. As we walked in, I noticed it was crowded and quite a few Japanese customers. I looked at tables to get an eye for some sushi and didn't see any with food. I had an idea it may be a long wait for food but had no idea how long. We ordered quite quickly. My husband ordered a small Asahi. And received a received a large. I ordered an order of tuna sashimi without looking at the menu. After about 45 min, sashimi arrived. It was 8 pieces. This I blame myself for not looking at the menu as there are no options for 2 piece sashimi as our usual sushi offers. When i received this order, i requested tamari. It arrived 15 minutes later after asking twice (still a 5 min wait from that point). A plate of Mango Tango arrived but we did not order this so they took it away. I watched them take this roll back and forth to the sushi bar and to every table but one. It ended back with the sushi bar and the sushi chef said it was a to go order. Another 10 minutes and another server asked for the mango tango and took it to the one table they hadn't gone to previously. Finally My husbands first plate of a roll arrived. I also ordered a soft shell crab roll. Just the soft shell crab served in a plate arrived. They took it back to make my roll. A half hour later, the toll arrived. Another plate of sushi started making its rounds to wrong tables. These are the main issues tonight. There were many other smaller things that we saw or happened. This restaurant failed on every level except the food was good. We were here about 2 hours and the restaurant was down to 4 tables. This is an absurd wait time. We were hungry and tired. Left long after they were closed. They should change their name to Sushi Off because they certainly are not on. read more

Be careful! My son and I waited an hour for our food. A woman (the owner?) apologized and said we would not be charged. They charged my credit card anyway! Ugh. The place was busy not but overwhelmingly so about 7:30pm on a Thursday. We were seated immediately. We ordered hot tea which came out luke warm after 10 minutes. It was a bad omen. They fixed that eventually but seemed to have a problem with hot water. Really? Isn't serving hot tea a basic item at a sushi joint? After 40 minutes, our seemingly inexperienced waiter said "the computer didn't have your order" (meaning he screwed up). He promised the food quickly since the restaurant was clearly not busy at all now. Another 20 minutes passed and I had had enough. My son's chicken teriyaki came out but my sushi did not. I asked for both our orders to go and the check. I was done. The waiter then brought my sushi to the table on a plate and asked if I'd just like to eat it now that it was ready. Really? Can you not tell I'm done with sitting around. They packed everything up in a hurry. (No chopsticks or napkins were in our bag we eventually realized when we got to the hotel.) The owner(?) came over at the end to apologize for the waiter and slow service and promised I would not be charged. I was charged anyway. Ridiculous. The chicken was not great but I liked the sushi. We've been here twice, once because we had received a coupon in the mail for a twofer and we were looking for a new sushi place to try. The 1st visit was good enough to get us to come back again, even though we had to wait for service on the first visit when the restaurant wasn't crowded. The fish was good, not great, however the total meal was noteworthy. On our second visit we were seated in a timely manner but again had to wait even longer for service, and then again request the waitress to please bring our drinks twice. We felt we were being ignored! This time the sushi was terrible, not only was the tuna of poor quality but every piece was a different texture, color and taste. We had never seen tuna piled on in two layers and some small pieces added on top. It was a terrible presentation, unappetizing and in some cases even fishy tasting. The roll was not a bluefin grade tuna and was terrible and had much too many chives or scallions. As much as we thought this was going to be a new 'find' it has ended up being a "poor choice". Everything is so delicious here! I've been twice and had about 8 different rolls and various appetizers and they're all amazing. I hope to make my way through the full menu at some point. The fish is always fresh and cut nice and thick and the presentation is always beautiful. The food is not cheap but it's definitely worth the price being that sushi is generally a pricier food anyways. Staff is nice as well. AND they have dumdum lollipops for you on the way out! Early dinner with my hubby on Valentine's Day. We sat at the sushi bar and had a very talented and soft spoken sushi chef who made us the yummies!
