Good sushi with great service! We felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant with how attentive the waiter was, and not in a "too much" way. He knew when to ask for refills, ready to order, etc... We ordered sushi- which was the main reason we were out, but also some miso soup. Both were delicious! The fact they are buy on get one, doesn't hurt either! We ordered a shrimp tempura roll, a philly roll, Mary roll, and a smoky roll. All were good, but the shrimp tempura roll was potentially my favorite. Definitely check it out for a low key date night, or sit outside for a more family friendly atmosphere. I would like to say the food and service were great but we were never served. We agreed upon seating at a small table until a booth became available. No one even came to take our drink order once we were seated. So there we were just looking around at others enjoying. We eventually decided to eat else where, it were as we weren't visible from the point of being seated until we walked out of the door. I came here for dinner last night. We had a nice experience! I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. YELP: why isn't there a half option!? I hated that this place got so many "bad" reviews because our experience definitely wasn't bad! The service was good. Everyone was incredibly friendly. We sat at the sushi bar. Our server was really nice, and made sure to tell us all of the specials. When we were ready to order, he had gone MIA for 5-10 minutes it seemed, but then was pretty attentive once he got back. We ordered a "Volcano" for two as a drink. It was definitely neat but definitely sweet. If you like sweet drinks + rum, this is for you. I tasted their one Sauvignon Blanc and wasn't a fan so opted out. As far as the food, it was pretty good! There were two feature rolls, the Caterpillar & Tropical Storm. Tropical Storm was on POINT! So delicious! We also had the Volcano roll. Not bad at all but a bit more cream cheese than I would prefer. However, they all were good. Is this the best sushi I've ever had? Nah. Would I come back? Yes, for sure. The food was good. Service was good. Their rolls are always BOGO which is also great! Sushi was warm and it wasn't a cooked roll. The salmon looked like it came out of a can. Odd. We ordered drinks. They arrived 20 minutes later and were not good. My dirty martini was sweet. The waitress asked us how our meal was and my husband replied: "I wouldn't know, I never got my meal." She said: " that's because it's warm in the kitchen." Ummmmmmm Ok. Waited more time. I was informed that this place named Sushi One had a change of ownership. It was about time for me to visit this restaurant since I was approximately 5 minutes away. When I came in I was greeted cheerfully by Nam and Jason. I asked to be seated at theSushi bar where there were 2 Sushi Chefs offering me to try their Otoro Belly special. My husband and I went here last night and it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had. I don't know what our server's name was, but she was all over the place. The moment she walked away after greeting us, I actually turned to my husband and asked him what drug he thought she was on. She was awkward, stuttering, and we repeated to her 3 times (that's how many times she asked) that we were fine with the food items coming out as they were ready. We opted to split an order of the hibachi chicken, which states on the menu that it comes with miso soup or salad. She even asked which one we wanted, we told her the soup, she asked if we wanted to add an extra one (since we were sharing), we said no aaaand she never brought over ANY miso soup. Then after 20-30 minutes of waiting and watching our server awkwardly stumble around the restaurant (and all of the tables around us who ordered after us got their food), we finally got our sushi. All at once, even though we said we didn't mind eating a roll at a time. We ordered 4 rolls that sounded good to us. The hibachi chicken came out maybe 5 minutes after that. Bad service aside, the sushi also just wasn't that great. It lacked depth and flavor. The texture of the rice was nice but there just wasn't anything special about it other than the fact that it was buy one, get one free. The Black Widow roll was, quite frankly, absolutely disgusting. It tasted like old oil, or maybe even just old seafood. Maybe we came on the wrong night for that one. Blech. When our waitress dropped the check, she awkwardly goes, "and between you and me, I didn't charge you guys for your drinks" (two diet cokes). Uh...ok? Thank you? That was awkward. Am I expected to tip more for that or something? I'm a server myself and have definitely messed up tables before. It happens, but this was on an entirely different level. What was really unfortunate was that we were sitting by the entrance to the server area and we could see at least two other servers (Asian male and Asian female) giving great service to their tables. Luck wasn't on our side on this night unfortunately. My recommendation? Go to Carolina Sushi & Roll over by Triangle Town Center and ask for Nabi. You won't be disappointed. read more

Located in Lafayette Village, this restaurant is a great place to meet a friend for sushi. I've been here once before with my 6 yr old, so yes it's family friendly too. The restaurant is casual with booth seating as well as tables and they offer BOGO rolls. The waiter was friendly and made an awesome suggestion to try his personal favorite..the Smokey Roll. My friend got that and I tried the Sweet Dragon Roll. Both speciality rolls had 8 pieces and were flavorful/fresh. Speaking of fresh..the house salad with the housemade ginger dressing is amazing! I suggest getting it as a starter to your meal. I was looking for more innovative rolls or creations with mango in it but did not see anything of that sort. We both ordered the ginger salad for a starter (best ginger sauce I have ever tried, they make it in house)and then we ordered different sushi rolls. I ordered the Smoky Roll which it said that it was spicy but it wasn't bad. Leslie ordered a sweeter roll and we shared. The place was really organized + clean. Our server was extremely nice and very attentive. He recommended his favorites and made sure that we had everything that we needed. When you dine in you get 1 order of sushi rolls for free which is an amazing perk. I would plan for parking as sometimes the lot gets really full! I was able to find a park along the back of the business which was kind of far from the restaurant (it was raining) depending on what time you go parking can be tricky. I've been coming here for years. Food is amazing and everything is well priced. Service is not great though. Our glasses aren't maintained and one visit my spouse and I made we sat outside, were given menus, and sat outside for 30 minutes at least before leaving, We were forgotten even though there were many tables open and it wasn't busy. I still come here whenever I can to enjoy the volcano and Himalayan rolls, but I have to make sure I'm vocal with the service staff whenever I need my glass topped off, etc. read more

The food is great, service is okay. They don't seem to have enough servers. If we want to sit outside it feels like we are cutting off their hands. They feel so frustrated when they have to serve outside and unlock the patio chairs from the tables. Most of the time, they just keep saying they are not serving outside. All other neighboring restaurants are open outside. They lose many customers because of not opening outside. Hopefully that will change. The furniture is pretty worn out, damaged. Normally I love this place. I got a few times a month. I really like the sushi and the menu items are awesome. The service is very hit or miss. The establishment is clean, location is convenient and prices are reasonable. The sushi creations are unique. I've read the bad reviews and wondered why? Normally I would give Sushi One a 4 Last night I would say it was a 2. Last night I see why there are so many negative reviews. They must have a ton of turnover or something. Appetizers, soups, and main course all arrived at the same time. That was pretty frustrations. Our server was pretty condescending about it. My sushi fell apart. I will say this has never happened in the dozen or so times I have been there. Our server was pretty overwhelmed. She was pretty snappy and just didn't look like she was having fun at all. Maybe a bad day? There was another girl who came around to fill our drinks etc who was really nice ! It was overwhelming that everything didn't fit on the table. My daughter didn't like her miso soup, it has a slimy appearance --- server didn't really care. Like many before me I agree that the ambiance was great but sushi one falls short in other areas. My wife and I ordered the crab wonton app which was made ok but not great. They pared the wontons with a store bought duck sauce mixed with sweet chili sauce which just did not work for me. So I waited for our server to return to ask for a different sauce. As I waited and waited some more my wife and I realized I would end up waiting until they get cold so I sucked it up and consumed the mediocre appetizer. Next we had four rolls which were good but were made like the kind you get at a buffet. They just were not special. As for the service our server was slow and I had to actually walk to the sushi bar to ask for refills of our beverages. The saddest part was the other server was catering to his guest non stop. From our dining perspective if two servers were able to come into a middle ground this place would be perfect. One needs to be faster and more attentive while the other needs to let his guest eat with him not hovering over the table.
