I visited this establishment on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024. As we(2 people) walk into the restaurant, the server instructs us to sit in a table for 4 people crammed between two large groups of people. I politely ask the host to sit us in another empty table that was not reserved. She lied to my face and said there was group of ten people coming and we couldn't sit at another more spacious table for 4 people. 45 mins into all you can eat sushi she brings up the check, how ridiculous if you ask me. 20 minutes later she sits a white couple in the table I wanted to sit at that she said was for a large group of people. Came for a late dinner on a Saturday night. There was no wait for four people and the service was fast. We must have ordered 15 different rolls (sweet potato roll was so good we ate 4). The quality of the sushi was AMAZING and it's all you can eat for $26! The only thing is you can't leave any sushi behind, not even one piece or they'll charge you a fee. Okay this is my favorite sushi palace. I love the atmosphere of this location the best. The waiters are friendly and easy to track down. My water is always filled and the menu keeps on coming to my table. My love here is the spicy seaweed salad and the sashimi. The salmon, eel and squid are all super fresh from here. Everything is so delicious even the udon! The only thing that sucks is that the sushi rolls are OD with the rice and avocado. They made the rolls with a lot of rice and avocado to make us fuller, faster. It's all good though, I got my ways (I just stuff myself with sashimi). This place is incredible! I've been here three times in the last two months. Everything is made to order and with great care unlike some all you can eat sushi buffets which just carelessly put out sushi for you to put on your plate. You can even get sashimi which is great since there is no rice to fill you up more. The entire kitchen menu is available with the all you can eat deal so you can get a little bit of everything including soups, dumplings, tempura, teriyaki, etcetera. Drove here from Dover, and I have to say well worth the drive. This place has amazing service, and excellent food. I am beyond satisfied with this place. I made reservations for 7:30 and somehow the wrote 6:30 and I guess dinner rush came in and I explained to them the confusion and they helped me out and accommodated me and gave me seats as soon as they opened. Still as good as ever! I usually come for lunch since it's less crowded. The servers always remember us and bring us the spicy mayo as soon as we sit down. You have to try the spicy seaweed salad. It has crab, tempura flakes, and a delicious, spicy dressing. I never get a chance to take a picture of it because it's so gone in 60 seconds. I really is THAT good. Another all-you-can-eat sushi place called Kumo is in the same area on Main St., however the extra $2 you spend at Sushi Palace is more than worth it. The only two negatives are that you have to pay for parking in the back lot and the tables seem really clustered on crowded nights. My friends and I are frequent sushi diners, the food was warm, tasted funky and weird. We were charged $10 for uneaten food we didn't like. We didn't tip because the sushi tastes terrible and the manager still charged us for uneaten sushi despite us saying that we tried rolls that we ultimately didn't like. I've been to all four Sushi Palace locations (Summit, Somerville, Edison, Princeton). Somerville is my least favorite just due to a couple reasons. Honestly, the food is the same as the other locations so its not really the problem. Parking is tough in this area depending on the time of day, etc. Also, the restaurant was located in a renovated bank. While it sounds like a really cute, hipster idea...in practice its not. At night, when I have come here (a few times now) it gets really, really, crowded and its hard to hear yourself think never mind talk to the people you came with. The tables are really close together in comparison to the other locations. This causes the noise level to be even louder. I wasn't a huge fan of the set up as a result. I have come to this restaurant during lunch time when its not crowded and the room doesn't feel quite as small. This situation worked out way better and felt more comfortable. If you aren't a fan or crowded/tight or loud spaces I would say avoid going in the evening. read more

I go to Sushi Palace all of the time. It isn't necessarily for the quality of food, but quantity. Recently, they have increased the price for all you can eat which is a bummer, but you still get your money's worth. On any given dinner service, this place is PACKED. Try to go for lunch or come earlier for dinner. Their apps are pretty solid but they tend to give smaller portions (reduce food waste). My faves are the age tofu, vegetable udon, and the tempura. Tons of vegetarian and vegan options here. My friends really love the shumai, edamame, and shrimp tempura. When it is super busy, it is sometimes hard for them to be on top of all of the orders. I try to get all the orders out of the way the first round. My go-to rolls are the mango avocado roll, peanut avocado roll, and the sweet potato roll. Those never let me down and I can eat tons of them. For non-veg rolls, my friends love their specialty rolls. The Princeton Roll is really really good. To get your money's worth, get sashimi or specialty rolls. Also, don't forget about dessert! Their green tea ice cream is delicious and super creamy. Sushi Palace is a great place to go with your friends or when you're super super hungry. Not my number one choice for sushi, though. read more

Food was decent for an all you can eat joint, but the staff was trying to rush our group through our dinner and service was poor overall. They kept getting our orders wrong and gave less and sometimes omitted dishes. We had two people arriving late and they kept demanding where they were, and when they got there they rushed them too. At one point they gave us the check and told us "no more" - we hadn't eaten a massive amount either. At the end, we told them to split the meal costs between cash and two cards, with tip included in the cash. They demanded additional tip to what we had placed on the cards (we gave tip on those as well). I like coming here. The food is good. Today, however, I went with a friend and when it came close to us finishing our food, we were being rushed to leave by them trying to take our plates before we were done a couple times. We asked for one ice cream and she asked "THAT'S IT?" We barely set our spoon down when they came to swoop it up. Then when it came time to pay, we split our bill evenly and already were leaving a tip. The lady comes back with our cards and starts requesting more of a tip. We try to explain that we were splitting everything including the tip from each of us. She starts demanding more despite this, and the people at the tables next to us start to look. Embarrassed and annoyed, I then just handed her a few more bills to get her to leave. Never have I ever experienced someone ASKING for MORE of a tip. Mind you, I always tip at least 20%. There's only one parking lot and street parking so it took over 30 minutes to find one and we parked apparently "illegally" since we parked in the post office parking lot. Next we came inside for a 7pm reservation only to have to wait another half an hour to be seated since so many people were there. Say what? No. The service by the waitress is the only reason why I am giving this place an extra star because props to them for being amazing despite the hectic restaurant. AYCE sushi is clearly the big selling point here... well, being BYOB doesn't hurt either. I'm not the type who prefers quantity over quality but hey, it doesn't hurt to get a happy medium of both. So my friend picked this spot for lunch on Labor Day and the place was semi-full as expected (good to see sometimes). I heard some people complain about the parking sitch here, but there's a big municipal lot right in the back. And it's only a quarter per hour - easy. This place is more of a 3.5 in my book. I was definitely not hungry enough to eat endless amounts of sushi, but if you are... $23 per person ain't bad for a holiday. The sushi was good but I would say that's the extent of it. Not trying to be a sushi snob, but I felt certain rolls were a bit skimpy on fish. Not to mention, their kani salad was pretty sad being 3/4 cucumber and 1/4 crab. I do, however, have to admit that the sushi tasted pretty fresh. And their shumai and gyoza made up for their sad kani salad. The star of the show was the Edison Roll with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, and spicy crab - sooo good I could've eaten just two or three of these by itself! My review used to say... "Fair price for all you can eat (includes apps/desert) & it's a BYOB. There's additional charges of you order drinks or don't eat everything you order. Parking sucks." ... we've been there multiple times and haven't usually had an issue... Tonight's visit unfortunately ruined this place for our group of friends when we were chased out by our waitress (whom maybe only took our order tickets once, we BYOB'd and someone else brought our wine glasses & food and a third person took our bill when we were ready to pay etc.). Our waitress claimed we didn't tip her enough. We politely explained to her that the bill was split up between cash and a card (it was a roughly $100 bill for the four of us). When the "manager" had taken our bill we explained to him how to split it up (we gave a $50 bill cash and asked that the remainder of the bill go on the card with $20 in small bills on the other side as the tip) but apparently he put all of the cash toward the bill and then the waitress only got half of the intended tip (the portion from the couple paying with the card). Now we understand that this was a simple mistake (and probably would have been caught by us if we weren't chatting and catching up but alas we're human) and it's one thing to be asked if the service we received was alright but to be chased out of the restaurant and asked for more money is completely unacceptable. Sushi palace is one of 3 rotating restaurants my very-picky parents always go out to... either this location or Princeton. Parking can be painful as you compete with the rest of downtown, but it is free after 7pm. We never wait too long for a seat, and the food comes out faster than at a drive thru... 6 sushi chefs busily working on a Saturday night, with plenty more I'm sure in the kitchen. You always have to be careful not to overfill on appetizers, but it can be difficult with tons of yummy options like seaweed salad, udon soups, pork katsu and all of the veggie tempuras. Then round two! Unlimited sashimi and specialty sushi rolls. The fish pieces they give are huge, about twice as big as the other place, so typically 50 pieces of whatever is more than enough for 3. We personally go for a combination of eel (can be salty without rice), salmon and white tuna - and its fresh every time. We also each get a special roll - the favorites are the soft shell crab, a dragon roll (or similar variety) and the pink lobster mango one. Delish. Usually by this time, we are buffet STUFFED. When the wait staff drops another set of paper menus and asks if we want more, we just stare at her in disbelief. And then we decide mayyyybe we can still fit another round of red bean ice creams... but after that, we really throw in the white flag. Good value for fish, buffet and service. read more

Drove all the way down here to hang with some Bridgewater friends but a dinner with a few friends turned into more and more people stopping by and pulling up a table. Ended up with a group of 16+ friends and it wasnt even anyone's birthday. Roll deep, waddup. The staff was totally accommodating to our growing group and was able to not mix up the bills. What a deal this place is! I am always hesitant about all you can eat sushi because there is always the risk of volcanic bowel activity the next day. However, the sushi here was DELICIOUS and SO FRESH. The Edison Roll is the only one you need to order, it's the best one on the menu, hands down. I tried some kani salad, sashimi, tempura, katsu, goyza, everything really. All was delicious. The sweet potato tempura was bangin! Would definitely trek down here again. The area is lovely, and there happened to be a jazz band performance outside of the restaurant so stopped by to listen for a bit on a beautiful summer evening. Wow, this is the best execution of all you can eat sushi that I have ever seen. I've only experienced buffet style but this was awesome! You get to take your pick of sushi, sashimi, tempura, noodles, soups, teriyaki and it is served to you. It's fresh and it's so good. The restaurant itself is small and fills up quickly but I think it adds the the atmosphere; it's an awesome place. I came earlier on a Friday night and it got packed in minutes! Nevertheless, I had my fill of sushi and there's definitely something for everyone. This is my all time favorite restaurant. You would expect an all you can eat sushi place to have sushi that is old and not fresh, but Sushi Palace defies the odds! The salmon sashimi here is among the freshest i've ever had. The biggest thing here is to make sure that you know HOW to order properly, as they do make you pay for anything you don't finish. So if you have a large group going, make sure that you order extremely conservatively for your first order, because everyone always over orders. Stick to some appetizers like gyoza, shumai, miso soup, and seaweed salad. And for the entrees go with 80% sashimi and 20% sushi rolls. For dessert, red bean is always the best. Final tip, make sure you get a damn reservation, otherwise you'll be standing in line for 30 mins. read more

Two of my favorite things combined! I love Somerville - its an awesome, down to earth fun town that makes me feel alive and a welcome escape from the high strung soccer moms and dads all over the rest of central and North New Jersey. They can keep Short Hills mall but I hope they don't invade Somerville. As for Sushi Palace, its one of my favorite establishments - quality sushi at a great value and BYOB. The Sushi Palace here in Somerville has a nicer environment than the one in Edison and has the same good food. I am still trying to plan the ultimate Somerville guys night out with my boys. Can't beat for its value being all you can eat. The weekend price is about 23 per person. It's also BYOB. Weekends are especially crowded in between tables. Expect a few bumps here and there between the waitress and patrons. Their appetizers and hot foods are excellent. I always get tricked into eating more of those than the actual sushi. I suggest: Kani salad Edamame Squid Croquettes Shrimp tempura Pork katsu For fish I always like sashimi, although their salmon cut is so chunky for some reason. Red snapper is good as well. Some good rolls we always get: Dragon Soft shell crab Eel avocado Spicy salmon/tuna Rainbow No matter how hungry you think you are, just remember to always start less since you can alway order more. I'm not really sure why I frequent AYCE sushi places, when I've long suspected that free-flowing sushi is yet another dream of mine that'll never live up to reality (teardrop teardrop). But I'm an eternal optimist, so I joined a few HS friends here for a mini-reunion. The concept of Sushi Palace is promising. As past reviewers mentioned, the place is AYCE but everything is made to order, so at least your sushi hasn't been sitting in a buffet line. But I'm not eager to come again, and I don't think this ranks near my top eateries in Somerville. My main problem: the fish is not very good. None of the varieties of sashimi I tried (salmon, white tuna, albacore, red snapper) were especially fresh, and the texture mildly resembled the packaged sushi at uni (which I eat to expend meal swipes). This was most apparent with the white tuna (aka escolar?), which failed to provide the usual 'melt-in-your-mouth' buttery sensation that I crave. They also skimp on the fish-to-rice ratio for the nigiri sushi, though I suppose that's to be expected. On a brighter note, the spicy seaweed salad and green tea ice cream are great, and the rolls aren't bad. I know there has to be some trade-off between quality and quantity (like, econ 101). However, at $20.95 you can get a decent sushi plate at other places in Somerville (especially for lunch). While you won't have the luxury of stuffing your face, I really do think for the short and long-term comfort of your stomach, you should err on the quality end when picking your sushi. I wasn't too thrilled with the service - we came at 1pm and stayed slightly past 3 (when they close lunch), which probably explained the (not-so-)subtle cues to leave. It was also a scorching summer day, and somehow this place managed to remain AC-less (or it was set above 80F, who knows). Plus there was a lingering fly?! Okay, flies happen, but when it feels like the South outside, you gotta crank up the AC. read more

Lets get started here: Appetizer: Edemame (very good with a dab of salt) Lumpia (Vegetable Egg roll) with vinegar sauce (not a fan of vinegar but it was good) Spicy Seaweed Salad - My girl loves this stuff Calamari - its crispy enough but i think its only OK.
