Happy Hour
Victoria T.

Delicious food, everything tasted fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have seating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The lighting is a bit dim and could use some brighter light - cheer up the place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was nice and fast. They have a "happy hour" pricing that's just the pricing for 1 scoop of protein instead of 2 which is the regular price.

This place has the best Poke Bowls We moved to Peoria and this is a place that brings us back to Goodyear because it is truly the best!!

The food was great and there is a a huge variety of drinks! The service was great. They were funny and fast at making my order. The ambiance is nice because they have music playing!

I can't even with this place.

I rarely ever do one star reviews. It's rare. So you know this place is bad. Should I start with the good? Ok. Pros: they were open. Now, the list of cons, in chronological order. Cons: - Girl at the front asked what we wanted and cut us off mid sentence. I took my time to answer. Why are you rushing me when no one is behind me? - the scoops. The freaking scoops. Tiny. A joke. I have never felt more offended by a scoop. - owner came by while a Togo order was in front of us and asked if it was ours. We said no. He looked at us like we were lying to him... I can't make this up... - price is outrageous for portions. I came to eat, not for a snack. - pineapple was white. It was not yellow. - ambiance was dead. Seemed like we were unwelcome. So we are and left quick. - fish was... slightly fishy. So. All in all. Stay away. If you love poke and think "I'll chance it" then be prepared to spend more than you want for less than you thought you'd get. To the owners, customer first. Everything about your restaurant screams "I care about me first. Give me your money and leave"

I stopped in for lunch today with my employees to celebrate my birthday. I love sushi so I was excited to try this place. Both my employees got poke bowls that they both said they enjoyed. I opted to order a rainbow roll, sadly they didn't really seem pleased that I wanted a sushi roll since they were working bowls for people. Instead they had me pay and then finished taking care of everyone in line first before starting to make my order. I also ordered a mango boba. It took them about 10-15 mins to put together my roll and get me the drink. The drink started off okay, but when I started getting "crunchy" boba pieces I was done with it. I have had many bobas over time and many of them in Japan and this was the first one I have ever had with bad boba. For me this was a waste of the money for the drink. As for the roll, it didn't start out great in that the very first bite literally fell apart (unrolled) in the soy sauce. It went downhill from there in that some of the sashimi pieces on top had a funny fishy taste and smell to it. I rolled the dice and still ate it but I am regretting that decision now since my stomach is hurting a bit. While I had high hopes based on other reviewers, I was definitely let down by this place. I left the review at 3 stars because my employees bowls were good to them, but if you want sushi I would go elsewhere.

Definitely more bang for your buck if you get the poke over the sushi, but both had good quality fish. Employees were very nice.

They gave more interaction to the single to go order sitting on the counter than they did to the single individual who collectively asked if the store was even open because the entire staff was nowhere to be seen. Do they know about their happy hour? No. Are they excited to make tips? Of course, not. Society is conditioning the working class to make tipping mandatory. Well, I'm not gonna continue to sit here to be ignored when my hard earned unemployment money could be better spent at an establishment that is actually working for their buck. Such a shame, because they're not even that old yet and they've already fallen into the collective that truly doesn't give two cents about your dollar walking through the door.

The service was quick and friendly. I ordered Miso Soup ($2.00), which was warm and served as a nice palette cleanser. Baked Mussels ($8.25), loaded with spicy mayo, masago, green onions, and eel sauce. Probably my favorite dish of the night. Vegas Roll ($10.25) is your typical deep fried roll. My partner ordered the Rock n Roll Baked roll ($12.95). We did have to ask for soy sauce and wasabi, as those were not provided. Overall, the food was delicious, I would revisit and recommend.

The restaurant wasn't that busy for the lunch rush, and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. The only downsides I experienced was that there was no hot water running in the bathroom that I could tell, and no paper towels were available to dry my hands or open the bathroom door with. I also had a small fly hovering around me while I ate (I was inside). Thinking about this experience a little deeper however (after the bill) changed things for me a bit. Was the food okay? Yes, I think... Was it noteworthy? Not really. The stacks of premade rolls sitting on the counter made me think twice about ever eating here again. I paid around $45 for lunch after tax and tip. I ordered 6 pieces of nigiri, a tempura roll, a small bowl of miso soup, and an iced tea. I don't consider this anything crazy or over the top. Given this price point I expect hot water and paper towels in the bathrooms, especially if employees who are handling our food use those facilities. 1-star, won't be back... oh, and the soy sauce bottle was literally stuck to the counter. I had to pry it off.

But that was only until their front counter host, Mariano, hooked me up. I told him my dilemma and he was super helpful, upbeat, knowledgeable, and kind. He listened to what Ibsaid and suggested the most amazing bowl I've ever had. And it was ALL his recommendations. I had the teriyaki bowl but added green dragon sauce, spicy teriyaki sauce, green onion, a scrambled egg, chili flakes, and avocado. HOLY Flavor Explosion, Batman! Wow. It was out of this world. I would never have ordered it like this. It was thanks to Mariano. I worked in restaurants for many years, and Employees like him are more valuable than gold. I can't imagine they're paying him well, yet he was enthusiastic and genuine and truly had passion for the food and helping his customers. Mariano single-handedly converted me from not wanting to eat at Tokyo Joe's, to a huge fan of the food- all in a single visit. This guy should be made GM at the very least. Yeah it's a chain, but it's run like a mom-and- pop establishment. It's "healthy" food in that there are no French fries or greasy meals. It's rice-based and is essentially proteins and a TON of mix-ins and sauces. It's well done. All in all, excellent dish, even better customer service. This is how an eatery should operate. Kudos. Amazing service as always (there was a bit of a glitch on my account, but they worked together to solve it and all was A-Okay.) I ordered the Thai Noodle Bowl. It was my first time trying it, and I really enjoyed it. It was a bit on the spicy side, which is noted on the menu board and overlooked by me (oops), but I like spicy food. You could probably request that they hold off on the red pepper flakes, or.use a smaller amount. Tasty sauce, veggies, noodles, and 3 kinds of protein. Very filling. I opted for a water cup today, though I normally always enjoy their iced teas. I so appreciate the high level of service I always receive at Tokyo Joe's locations. This one and the Surprise AZ location are my go-to's. Clean restaurant as always, with employees cleaning tables and surfaces. Groovy music tracks were playing in the background. Thank you, Tokyo Joe's, for your consistently outstanding customer experience.

I am incredibly disappointed by the way my family was treated today…read more My daughter has a documented medical history that has affected her ability to eat. She relied on a feeding tube until about 6 months ago (she is 7) she is only able to eat very small amounts of food. During our visit, she took four bites from her twin sister's plate because she was unable to eat a full meal of her own. I will always encourage and support her learning to eat. I will not deny her something I have worked so hard to help her overcome, especially when this is a struggle many people do not understand. When I paid for our meals today, I explained this exact situation, so staff was already aware before we sat down and ate. I purchased the $100 meal with the understanding that my daughter's medical situation had been communicated. Instead of approaching the situation with understanding or compassion, staff chose to call the police over my refusal to pay an additional $15 for a child who medically cannot consume a full meal. In all the time since this place has opened, and after dining at this restaurant multiple times, I have never experienced anything like this. What upset me most wasn't the policy itself--it was the complete lack of empathy and willingness to have a respectful conversation. Families with children who have medical conditions deserve to be treated with dignity, not made to feel like criminals over a few bites of food. Customer service is about more than enforcing rules; it's about using judgment and compassion when circumstances call for it. Unfortunately, that was completely absent today. Because of how my family was treated, I will not be returning, and I will no longer recommend this restaurant to others. I sincerely hope management takes a closer look at how situations involving children and guests with medical needs are handled in the future.
