Really nice sushi spot in Surprise! Likes their happy hour as the menu had a great variety of options and everything was reasonably priced. The sashimi selection wasn't my favorite, but the sushi rolls definitely made up for it. Overall, a great experience and a solid 4 out of 5!

We came here with four of us and it was an early night. We got reservations at 6 PM and I ordered the China doll cocktail. It was absolutely delicious and had amazing flavors to it. We then ordered some sashimi and some maki rolls. My favorite was the green eggs and Hana maki roll. It was actually to die for we even ordered it another time later when we stayed there this is a really good spot next to a lot of shopping another restaurants highly recommend it.

The raw rolls were excellent. The drinks were on par. I would not order the fried roll again. We got one and it was way over cooked and a lot of breading.

Went to try this place for lunch and it was honestly very good !! Loved the decor ! Ordered crunchy blue and lion king! And they were both very good !! Ordered the blue Tini and really enjoyed that as well!! Service was great as well ! I will be going back for sure !!

What a beautiful restaurant. We made a reservation and we were seated right away. **Know that parking can be a little tough so just know that going in. Miso soup is by far my favorite thing in the world but I just didn't love it. There was a little bit of a smell that didn't sit right with me. My husband on the other hand loved it! I couldn't pinpoint the flavor that I didn't care for. Crispy Brussel Sprouts - deep fried super greasy and just not great. The both of us didn't like it. Now, the Mango Crab Rangoon - husband loved them! Husband loved the Lion King Roll I had the Philly Roll. It was good. We do want to go back as the menu is huge. Our friends raved about Blue - so I wanted to try it, not blown away but I will give it another try.

Love Blue! Always a choice that never disappoints! For me, it's the raspberry mojito and rolls on rolls. My non-sushi family goes for the lettuce chicken wraps every time! The patio is our go to spot so we can witness all the action in Prasada. Dog friendly patio is a major +, and they have the cutest lil stainless steel water bowls. Loved Blue in Nebraska and thrilled to see them in Surprise.

Solid, solid, solid sushi. Very, very good service by Izzy (ask for her table). They had Kiren beer on draft which was a good start. Note to management, the Kiren could be colder. It was cool but not as cold as I would like. The Edamame was very good! Came seasoned with garlic with a splash of spicyness, get this. Also had the Calamari and it was very good. We had two roles - Thriller and Lion King rolls. Both were fresh and did not disappoint. Hack, if you tend to get cold in a restaraunt bring a sweater. My wife froze through most of the our dinner as we sat in the booth to the right of the front door as you walk in and it was like an ice box, even on a warm day. Highly recommend this place!

The sushi here tastes amazing, and they have a very balanced selection of rolls. The drinks are great, too. I loved my Sangria Spritz. The staff went above and beyond the entire time we ate here. They were extremely attentive and friendly. The staff also handled our food allergy requests very professionally and thoroughly. My husband and enjoyed our lunch date at Blue Sushi, and we will definitely be back for more!

We came in for happy hour which I thought offered a great selection of sushi, apps, and drinks. The china doll cocktail wasn't very strong but I loved the flavor that the jasmine tea gave the drink. As for sushi we decided to try a handful of things on the happy hour menu. I didn't find the mango crab ragoons to have that much of a mango flavor. I saw the mango sauce but there was not enough of it. We tried the lion king roll, the tidal wave roll, the crunchy blue roll, and the Cabo roll. I was not a huge fan of the crunchy blue or the Cabo. They are very simple rolls but I was disappointed in the amount of tuna in my Cabo roll. I have honestly never had a roll with such a tiny amount of fish before but for the price I can't complain. We loved the lion king roll though! We ordered a second one. The service was overall good. I would say for how slow the restaurant seemed it took a little while to get us seated. It also took a little while for a host to make their way over but from there on I feel like the service was good and the food came out in a timely manner. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and really cute inside!

We've been to the Blue Sushi in Tempe but the paid parking is annoying, so we thought we'd take a day trip to Surprise and check out some thrift/antique stores while out west. To start - the drive there from north central Phoenix is unpleasant. We meandered through surface streets and got lost a few times, but we made it eventually. Next time (if there is one) we'll take the longer freeway route. The layout/feel is the same as Tempe - well decorated, open, comfortable and a touch chilly. We were seated immediately and our waiter was right on the spot. We went for their Veganuary specials but ended up ordering of the extensive all day happy our menu instead. I got the vegan lettuce wraps while my husband ordered the Eden rolls - both vegan. I also got a Night Swim saki. My lettuce wraps came out quickly and were perfect. I really love them! The tofu is prepared well - cooked but not dry - and it's just delicious. However, I was almost done with my meal by the time my husband's rolls came out. They were not slammed - it was mid-afternoon on a Tuesday and only maybe five other tables seated. We were near the sushi area so we saw our waiter check twice - it wasn't his fault - they were just really slow. Thusly, minus one star from my review. When they did arrive - they were great. No worries there. But it did seem a bit excessive. Our waiter was apologetic and put up with our talk story for a bit. Overall, we'll go back for the vegan options, but probably to Tempe.

I really wanted to like Blue Sake Grill, but this was some of the worst sushi I've had. Even the specialty rolls were completely one-note -- bland, boring, and lacking any real flavor or creativity. Nothing stood out. I've had better sushi in places that don't specialize in it--- that's saying something. For the price and the hype, I expected much better. Unfortunately, there was nothing special about the experience, and I wouldn't return.

This was our first time to this restaurant and really enjoyed our experience. The wait staff was friendly and decor and ambience in this place was upscale / modern. We had the ceviche as an appetizer which was fresh and tasty along with some spicy edamame. We tried a few different sushi rolls and loved the fact that they have an all day happy hour on Sunday's with a wide variety of items to choose from. We ordered so much I forgot to take note of which rolls specifically we had but all were tasty and plentiful. The miso soup was also a great start to the meal. Definitely recommend this place and would come back again.

Wow. Amazing experience all around. From the host to the sushi chefs and everyone in between, we were treated so well. We happened to catch Ryan, the corporate chef, who clearly leads an exceptional team. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. I especially liked the extensive vegan options. This is definitely our new sushi spot. I'm shocked no one else was sitting at the sushi bar on a Friday night, because we had so much fun talking with the chefs. See you all next week!

There is a lot of free parking directly in front of the restaurant. There is no outdoor seating, but the space inside is very large. Booths line all of the walls and tables fill the center section of the floor. The back wall has a sushi counter where a sushi chef puts together orders when placed. In one corner of the restaurant is a full service bar. They have specialty cocktails available and they are a few dollars less during happy hour from 3:00 pm to closing. We tried the Blossomtini and the Lychee Martini. Both were quite sweet. The Blossomtini was made with Grand Marnier, triple sec, sake, cranberry juice and lime juice. My mom loved it. The Lychee Martini had vodka, like juice, lychee liquor, and vermouth. My uncle said it was much too sweet for him. I had sweet iced tea. The waitress was great about bringing me a refill before I ran out, and she even offered to make me one to take on the road. Our waitress was very patient with us. It took us some time to make up our mind when deciding what to order. She checked in with us regularly, but gave us plenty of space so that we didn't feel pressured. My uncle and mom wanted spicy sauce, so she brought a small dish of Siracha sauce. Also, our sushi rolls came with golf ball sized wasabi on each plate. She took good care of us. The menu has a variety of sushi choices, but you can also find things for those who don't like fish like ramen and chicken teriyaki. For our appetizers, we had an order of fried calamari and miso soup. My mom isn't into sushi, so she ordered the shrimp and mixed vegetable tempura. It was so light and delicious! She also tried the firecracker with tuna stuffed into half a jalapeño. Unfortunately, it was not spicy at all, but it was flavorful. My uncle and I ordered unagi rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and salmon sushi. It was a lot of food. We were absolutely stuffed. The price tag was about $110...reasonable for three people who were pleasantly full and enjoyed our dining experience.

I was told the inside had a laid-back vibe, and that description was completely accurate. What really stood out right away, though, was the customer service. The employees were kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The gentleman who greeted us had such an upbeat, excited energy that immediately made the experience feel special. It is always refreshing to walk into a restaurant and feel like the staff is actually happy to see you. And then came the food -- and WOW. We ordered the Chicken Karaage, Samantha roll, Captain Crunch roll extra crispy, Trapper Bites, and Soft Shell Crab, and every single item was phenomenal. Not one part of the order felt like an afterthought. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and carefully prepared. The Captain Crunch roll extra crispy was one of the standouts for me. The extra crispiness gave it the perfect texture, and the flavor was incredible. The Samantha roll was also delicious, and I really appreciated that they accommodated the request to put the spicy garlic sauce on the side. The Chicken Karaage was cooked beautifully, the Trapper Bites were packed with flavor, and the Soft Shell Crab was just as satisfying. What impressed me most was the consistency. Usually when you order several different items, there is at least one thing that ends up being just "okay." That was not the case here. Everything we tried was genuinely good, and each item had its own personality and flavor. This was the kind of meal where you finish eating and immediately start thinking about what you want to order next time. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, Trapper's Sushi gave us an experience that felt worth every dollar. I will absolutely be back. This is one of those places I would confidently recommend to anyone looking for great sushi, great service, and a fun, relaxed dining experience. Five stars honestly does not feel like enough. 1000/10. Highly recommended.

What a dismal experience and grand waste of money…read more Pertinent fact: I'm a pilot and I've eaten Japanese food everywhere, so this isn't my first rodeo. Now on to the facts... The place is nice though a bit dated. The huge koi pond is a nice touch. All the teppan show tables are on one side of the restaurant. The regular tables on the other side. The food was horrendous. There were 6 of us and we ordered 5 different entrees plus an app, so it was a good sampling of everything. I asked the server (who was dripping with an attitude of, "I hate this job and I want to do only the bare minimum..."), what was good. She said the chicken katsu was especially good; so I ordered it. What arrived nearly 25 minutes later was a slab of 1/8th inch thick chicken breast that was so overcooked that it was a hard oval disc. The breading had been over-fried to the point of hockey-puck texture. It was so dry and tasteless that it could have been alligator and I would never have known. Just a hard, dry, tasteless, burnt little slab of chicken with a side sauce that tasted like thick Worcestershire sauce and nothing more. There was barely ANY sweetness (which is critical with Katsu dishes), and zero spice or variation. Just a glop of room-temperature, thick, Worcestershire sauce in a gel-like consistency. It was sooooooo awful that I can't properly describe it. The other dishes were nearly as bad. The tempura was ok. But $28 is a lot of money for tempura. Mine came with a pile of tasteless, very basic "salad" (a pile of lettuce), and a little bowl of white rice. The best description I could muster for all these dishes was, "hospital slop." Then there was the service. Oh my gosh, what a joke. This server dumped the plates on our table and walked off, never to be seen again. She didn't ask how the food was. She didn't refill our waters. . She didn't ask a single thing and we only saw her when we ordered and when we needed the check. No in-between. She literally disappeared for an entire hour. The place is huge and has some 50 tables. We were one of only 3 tables with people in the whole place. She literally disappeared. She only came out after I yelled across the room when she poked her head out from the back for a nano-second. She brought out the check and took our credit cards. The kicker is they add an 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Six? Really? NO WONDER she didn't care : She was making an 18% tip just for breathing. Great gig if you can get it. Overall wvery dish was awful except the filet and shrimp which was decent. And the service was among the worst I've ever had. Just a complete debacle. Stay away from this place. It's truly slop and they charge you a fortune to experience it. Notice how this business has never even claimed their Yelp page? They don't care. A-Hai Sushi in Goodyear is a far, FAR better Japanese option. This place should be embarrassed about the food and the service. It was terrible. Good luck in The future. You'll need it.

We didn't know if it'd be doable since we were on the other side of the valley. We called, gave them our party size (12) and eta. Low and behold, they were able to get us a reservation. We get on the road to make it to our reservation 0745-0800, they close at 1000pm worse case scenario we get there by 0800 and we still have a good amount of time for the AYCE 90 minute experience. We get there and they have a sign out for the AYCE, last call 0830pm. We go inquire about the last call and our reservation being at 0745. They reassure us that we would still get the full 90 minute experience. At about 0800pm they tell us our table they thought would be available is not available, they say individual parties instead. A guy comes out and tells us that the time frame they gave us was an estimated time, we let him know that was not what were told, but we also got a text confirmation. He tells us, well the Weather is nice. We can accommodate you outside. We agreed. They got the tables all settled and we're about to sit down. The same older man tells us, that the last call is 0830PM, ummm what? They tell us well we can try and get everything in, but the last call is at 0830. You can stay until 0900, what?! I let him know that was not what there hostess had told us, we told him they said we'd still be served and given the 90 Minute experience. He said well I don't know why they told you that, I am going to have to go let them know that is not the case. It's now well past 0800pm and restaurants are closing soon and we are a large party. I was incredibly disappointed at how everything was handled, and how easy it was for the gentleman to just dismiss and shrug his shoulders like oh well. What was supposed to be a special celebration for our son's graduation turned into unnecessary stress and disappointment. We made the reservation based on the information their staff provided and planned accordingly, only to be told something completely different once we arrived. Had we been told upfront that they couldn't honor the full AYCE experience or accommodate our party as promised, we would have made other arrangements. After being loyal customers and recommending this place to family and friends, this experience made it clear that customer service and honoring commitments are not a priority. Unfortunately, that was our last visit For reference, when they sent the last text, we were already onsite.
