My first review of this place was a 5/5. The servers were nice, had edemame on the house and the meal was delicious & cheap. With such a great first experience I obviously strived to go back. But the service this time was disappointing. We didn't get our drinks or order taken until at least 15 minutes after being seated and once my food was ordered the waiter kept missing parts of the meal. We literally had to remind him 4 times because he missed our soups, our salad, then we didn't get utensils and at the end he forgot to bring half of my entree. Was disappointed with the service. I felt as if the waiter was not 100% there, probably high or something. Will return because the food is still amazing and cheap but if that waiter is there I won't step in the door. This is my favorite restaurant in Watsonville! Jun and Jenny and the waitstaff gals treat us like family and always go the extra mile to make sure we're happy and well fed. The fish is always fresh, the ramen spicy, the soju cold, and the staff friendly. Food is good. Service is not. I went to Sushi Qu with some friends, as soon as the guy took our order and dropped it off he never came back to check up on us. I noticed they didn't check up on anyone else at the restaurant. Also, they forgot to make my sushi roll, this was all caused when the chefs friends came in and got distracted. I told him about it and he gave me attitude. The food tasting good is very important, obviously, but service is just as important. I had to get up my seat 3 times to ask for water. A friend of mine warned me about this place being terrible at customer service, but I wanted to see for myself. And it's true. If you plan to eat somewhere where they never check up on you, and give you attitude when you confront them, this is the perfect place to go. read more

Ok, only 1 guest in there when I walked in. Both waitresses looked at me as if I walked in to the wrong place. I had to ask them if it was cool if I can grab a menu and eat here since they didn't offer. I sat myself and after a few minutes waitress came over and asked if I was ready, I said sure, whatever you recommend, I'll take it. Her reply was everything is good. I order from a huge selection of menu items without being able to get any consensus from the waitress. Food comes, a few more people come in. I'm almost done eating and would really appreciate a glass of water or some more hot tea, something. I've got two bites left and waitress finally comes over and asks if I can move to another table so a group that wasn't even all in the door yet, can sit down. In my head, I'm thinking she should be asking me how everything is and telling the group it'll be about 5 minute wait. Not. I just asked for the check instead. Lame. My wife and I knew about this place but until today never tried it out. We'll after today it is safe to say we will be going back. The combo dinners were awesome. Great flavor and big servings. The sushi is awesome we had the crab city and the snowball rolls. They were very big and had lot's of flavor. This place is tucked into a little corner of older strip mall but don't let that deter you from eating there. Place is small but I like it feels more intimate. Great little spot. They handled a broken sake glass and an 18 month old like pros. Server was quick to provide coloring pad and crayons without being asked, and when our little one had enough of the place and demanded we leave they were kind enough to box up $60 worth of nigiri and were nothing but kind a about it. Just finished my take out roll. Pleasantly surprised and immediately had to go on Yelp to see if anyone has realized how good it is. Had the greenfield roll- the mango inside was ripe yet not mushy.l- almost candied. The crab salad was tangy and full flavored. Tasted like it was caught today and pulled off the vine at sunset. First time here. Place is small, some outside seating. Sushi chef was friendly, but that is where it ends. Wait staff needs a lot of help in becoming more efficient. They weren't friendly, lacked in getting orders out in order (soup before beverage) not bring out plates for sushi and not checking on guest. We had to ask for stuff and heard other tables doing the same. It's not a very big place so I wouldn't expect this to be hard. One good wait staff could handle it with ease. We visited on Mother's Day afternoon- sat at one of the outside tables and it was a really nice afternoon. We arrived about 5:30 - so there was a crush of patrons right after opening, so it took a while to get our food but like I said- it was nice to sit outside. We started with a large sake, and the deep fried golden Ahi and Tempura roll, another large sake and a combo tempura plate. We love this restaurant. Its our Friday night spot. Fish is always fresh. It's nice that it's small and you get to know the owner and staff. Huge menu if you like that. We see all sorts of wonderful dishes go by. Super creative rolls. We placed a to-go order last night so I can't speak to the service, but can definitely rate the food. Let me just say, coming from two VERY snobby-ish sushi lovers....the food was SPECTACULAR. The rolls were not only beautiful, but had LARGE chunks of fish in each. They definitely didn't skimp on the fresh fish, which makes their prices totally fair and completely worth it. I go to this place once a week and have never been anything but beyond satisfied. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Great food, great prices and such nice staff. I order take out most of the time and yes, sometimes the wait is long (very, very rare and only really on Friday/ Saturday nights), but it is soooooo worth it and only means they are obviously the best!! Sushi Qu is located next to a small grocery store just a few blocks up the street from Miyuki. With about 12 tables, including several on a nice-sized covered patio, it's a hole-in-the-wall in the best sense of the term. The sushi chef is both affable and talented. His rice was cooked perfectly, served in perfect proportion and temperature beneath generous slices of fresh fish. While the selection of fish seems to be somewhat limited (no salmon eggs or skin) they do offer a large selection of creative, well-priced rolls. I wasn't sure what to get so I went conservative and ordered a rainbow roll. Formed perfectly, the nigiri was huge and the fish tasted awesome. The roll was absolutely huge. An app of veggie tempura was f'ing great. The batter was thin but crispy, just the way I like it, and the portion was huge. Quite a deal. I intended to order a hand roll or two but I was too full!. I've now been to the 3 top Watsonville sushi restaurants in the past 2 weeks and I'd rank this as my all around favorite. read more

First visit here. Small little place but seemed pleasant. My wife and l ordered several rolls to try. We liked them all! They come with a kind of sauce over and next to the rolls which was interesting. I don't think it added much to the flavor but made the plate look more interesting.
