This spot is my son's favorite. Small ramen joint located in one of the older strip malls in MH. Simple and clean seating. Keep in mind there's only 5 tables or so inside. There used to be a table outside (which my family and I really enjoyed) but they've removed it. Here are some items we typically order: - Red hakata ramen (spicy version) - White hakata ramen (toddler fave/toddler friendly) - Black garlic ramen (toddler fave/toddler friendly) - Traditional karrage (toddler fave/toddler friendly) - Beef curry over rice (basic curry sauce over rice) - Salmon bento box (skip this he said the piece of salmon was so tiny) Portions are very small and prices are fairly high for what you are getting but I don't mind because the food is actually pretty tasty. Not that many authentic ramen spots in town so this is still our first choice for ramen. Minus one star because using the restroom is somewhat complicated as there isn't one and they'll have you go to the super mercado next door or their sister sushi restaurant down the way. It was solid ramen. I got the Red Hakata and my bf got the White one. Both bowls had noodles that were nice and chewy. Broth came out hot and creamy- nice umami flavor. Red Hataka is suppose to be spicy, but it didn't burn my mouth and make me choke- it's Japanese spicy; just some sprinkle to add flavor- no actual kick. White Hakata differed in flavor in what I felt like it had a veggie note to the broth and almost garlicky. My bf enjoyed it. Also got Tempura Gyoza. It was standard pan fried gyoza. Had to ask the waiter twice for water before he brought it over though... but he was nice. They had college volleyball playing on the tv- something to watch. read more

Finally tried this place out. I'm always looking for a good curry rice bowl. Kushi Tsuru hit the spot! I usually order the yellow chicken curry but this time I tried the beef curry. So good and tender. It was like curry flavored beef stew with a little heat. My wife enjoyed the salmon bento box. All reasonably priced. We shared the Gyoza appetizer. I was delighted that our server,Tagi accommodated our request for steamed Gyoza. This is a big deal for me since it seems like most places only know how to deep fry everything. I came here because I had a craving for chicken katsu curry, usually I need to drive to Cupertino. It's yummy, I ordered the katsu chicken breast curry with ramen, I'm just happy to find a Japanese restaurant that offers ramen and curry. Kushi Tsuru is located at an outdoor mall on Main Street in Morgan Hill with other ethnic cuisines places here to try out. I'll have to come back again for their seasonal black garlic ramen. One of my new favorite ramen places! We got Chicken Karaage, Black Garlic Ramen and Yuzu Ramen. They got two chicken karaage options - thigh vs breast meat. Chicken was seasoned well and had the right crunch, served with katsu sauce. The black garlic ramen broth and ramen noodle texture were on point. The chashu was soft enough and tasted good! The yuzu ramen had the right amount of tang and had a quite enjoyable refreshing broth. I did like both ramen flavors but would have preferred if the eggs were softer boiled and seasoned. Small place with only a few tables neatly arranged where I didn't feel cramped. Service was fine, no complain. One person waitress on a Sunday afternoon, friendly, courteous. Food came out fast as we were the only one at that time. The place did get filled up by the time we left. Food flavor was good but with a couple of misses. The curry rice was more on the runny side, which I actually prefer instead of the more starchy thick curry ones. The curry sauce tasted really good with a little hint of peppery spice without over powering the curry flavor. I ordered the pork katsu add-on but got croquette instead. However, that croquette was excellent. Nice crunch on the outside, soft creamy sweet mashed potato on the inside. My gripe on this dish, 4 small chunks of beef. What's with these places that are just so stingy with the protein. Red (spicy) Hakata ramen was not bad. The soup was also on the lighter side, not the thick creamy pork bone flavor I expected for a Hakata style ramen. It was not bad, just not what I expected. Spice level was good to my preference. The noodles though was also too soft for my expectation of ramen noodles. Hakata ramen, AFAIK, do use straight thin noodles, but it should still have some chewy bounce, and I do prefer the chewy ones for a ramen bowl. Not sure if it was a fluke Price point was ok. I think a tiny bit on the high side considering the portion. Tipping practice was also ok, waitress was kind of busy taking care of other tables, so not one of those that stares you down while you decide what to do with Tips selection. Overall an ok place for a quick ramen fill whenever I am in the area, but not one that I would crave to go to. read more

Was craving ramen on a rainy day and decided to check out Kushi Tsuru. They did not disappoint! The dining room is spotless with a warm, inviting wood-accented aesthetic. Having just returned from Japan, I've been missing authentic ramen, and their red hakata ramen hit the spot. The spice was mild but flavorful, and my server, MJ, suggested adding extra spice next time. The broth was the true standout -- rich, balanced, and absolutely delicious. Really small spot in a strip small, like other reviews they really need to advertise. Without yelp I wouldn't have found them. I love the sparkling drinks they have, my favorite was the yuzu flavored sparkling water. Karrage was crispy and the chicken was moist and well seasoned in side. As for the ramen we got both the red and white Hakata ramen as it is the only two choices for Ramen listed. The broth was both rich and yummy. As other yelper have mentioned the boiled eggs were not marinated, and I wish I had a choice of bigger noodles or spinach noodles. The chashu pork is my favorite, it was so flavorful and delicious. I was in the mood for ramen, but I didn't think Morgan Hill would have one. I was pleasantly surprised to find one in the old Nob Hill shopping center (no longer called that, but that is how far back I go . . . ) on the corner of Main and Hale. I ordered the Hakate White Ramen, which came in about five minutes after I ordered. The broth was rich with a taste of bacon (probably from the flavorful chashu). The noodles were plenty (I actually was content by the end of the meal - usually I need to order a second batch of noodles to get to that content stage), and the broth wonderfully tasty (one of the few ramen places where I wanted to drink the broth, but unfortunately, I was too full to continue!). I look forward to eating here again to try out their other offerings. Having a ramen place in Morgan Hill is special enough, but to have a good, solid ramen shop is an extra bonus! read more

Oyakodon is so yummy and comforting, and i love that they have some of the broth on the rice underneath The menu may not be huge, but the mains are solid! Haven't tried apps yet, they also have some fun looking drinks and a bento box offering we haven't tried yet. Been here three of four times now and it's been great each time. The inside is clean and beautiful with lots of wood, they usually have street food videos playing on tvs (w no sound), nice music, it has a real nice vibe inside. As a Morgan Hill local, we have needed an authentic Ramen spot in our area for a while now. I was happy to hear that a legit Ramen spot has finally opened in Morgan Hill. Welcome Kushi Tsuru! We went here for a Saturday dinner. Parking was easy and accessible. It's located in an older plaza but it's still a nice area. From the outside there are Japanese anime posters on the windows that is appealing and inviting. The restaurant is small inside. There are about 4-5 tables. We were seated immediately. I ordered the Red Hakata Ramen. The wifey ordered a Chicken Katsu Don. And our son ordered the kids Hakata White Ramen. The ramens were flavorful and appetizing. We all enjoyed our food very much. Service was friendly and accommodating. Overall our experience at Kushi Tsuru was fantastic. It's good to know we do not have to drive to San Jose for some authentic ramen. Morgan Hill finally has Japanese ramen. Kushi Tsuru is a new spot serving curry, rice bowls, and ramen. Finding a modestly sized home near what's reportedly their original Morgan Hill restaurant at the corner of Dunne and Hale (CreAsian), they've been doing well enough on Yelp compared to their presumed SF location, and I was curious enough to stop by during this trip. We started with a shared app, the Takoyaki ($7.50). They did achieve the dancing bonito flake effect, which is a plus. The base takoyaki seems very uniform in shape and slightly mushy in dough, but the octopus in the center was fine. It will suffice if you're very hungry, as I was. After inquiring and being assured that the Red Hakata Ramen ($18.50) was not too spicy, I ordered it as my entree. It was actually 3-ish on a spicy scale of 10, so I was able to handle it. The base broth does have enough flavor that it could work without the spice, and it wasn't too salty judging by my lack of chugging water. The noodles were chewy enough, although they were served tightly bundled. The chashu was tender and tasty, albeit small. The corn is an odd choice for a Hakata style, being more suited to a Hokkaido style, but corn is a childhood favorite of mine so I didn't mind too much. Kushi Tsuru is surprisingly solid for a small town, although I'd rather drive up to San Jose for a ramen that's more complex and rich. The menu here is very simple so far, which makes me wonder if they plan to expand it to include full teishoku sets and more than two ramen bowls. Don't drive from out of town just to try it, but definitely check it out if you live locally. read more

A much needed addition to Morgan Hill! I'm so grateful this authentic ramen restaurant opened up close to home. My husband and I stopped by on a Friday night and ordered the red hakata ramen. The broth, noodles, chashu, and toppings were all fantastic. It wasn't very spicy, but so rich in flavor. I can't wait to come back and try their curry and donburi. The restaurant itself is small, clean, and modern. Our server was kind and efficient. It doesn't surprise me that the family that owns Kushi Tsuru also owns CreAsian (my favorite local sushi spot). Only 2 weeks old... this spot is a sure must try! The ramen was flavorful, not too salty, nice amount of soup and noodles. Love, love, love the thin noodles. I did ask if they had GF noodles but they said no. Hubby enjoyed the Curry chicken Udon... he mentioned it was delicious, not salty at all which was excellent and the pickled ginger just tickles your palate. 5/5 Morgan Hill we finally have a winner! Delicious, affordable, clean, friendly, family-owned, convenient Asian food. Hoping this is the first of many to start raising the bar and bring us in line with the rest of the South Bay. We ordered several menu items on a Saturday night: Red Hakata ramen, Beef curry, mini noodle only Hakata white ramen for kids, Tofu kin app, Mune Karaage (fried chicken rice) bowl for kids, and everything was delicious. I do think the tofu could be workshopped but it was still tasty and everything else was very well prepared, including the Japanese rice for the curry which is important. The ramen was especially good, I'd say better than most SJ locations. Authentic alkaline noodles, creamy bone broth, soft boiled egg did not disappoint, chashu was good. Only feedback for a big guy was would've been nice to have more/thicker chashu and more kikurage on the base though you can add for for a little extra $ so no complaints! The owner was super kind and accommodating. He offered to move our table since it's a small space and even surprised our kids with adorable child chopsticks to use and take home! So sweet :) We were told their family also owns CreAsian and another Kushi Tsuru in San Francisco. I'm really happy to see that Morgan Hill finally has a ramen place! The tonkotsu ramen was very delicious! I'd say the Porkbelly, Noodles, Broth, and Mushrooms were a 10/10. I'd like to see the egg marinated longer though, it was pretty white. We were very happy with our food, service, and the price! Some feedback for the restaurant because I want it to succeed! 1) I wasn't aware this place existed despite it being open for 8 months. We kept driving into San Jose to get ramen. So you guys need to find a way to get the word out. (Social Media, Mailers, Signage, etc) 2) Buy some nicer water cups, preferably glass. It takes away from the ambiance drinking out of small plastic cups. 3) Remove the anime posters in front of the restaurant. Yes they're cute, but they're probably not going to appeal to people in Morgan Hill. There's nothing in front of the restaurant that tells people it's a ramen bar. We ordered the regular ramen and it was brought out to us soon after. The taste reminds me of the ramen places in San Jose, very savory and tasted close to home. I'm happy to have a ramen place in town that is actually really good. Great portions for reasonable prices. Do keep in mind it is a smaller shop and may have a few workers but I genuinely enjoyed it and will definitely be back! The staff is also really sweet and attentive. This place had some great flavors and price points but also some small kinks. We loved that the dishes were pretty cheap and small so we could try a lot. All of the rice dishes were delicious - we tried all of them! They don't have any bathrooms even though it is a sit down restaurant which sucked when we had to use the bathroom so we had to leave. You have you bring your check to the front to pay even though you sit down the whole time which seemed a little odd since it was sit down service. There also is not napkins - they just have tissues. A few other small kinks was there not being any sauces (soy sauce etc) at the table or plates for us to eat appetizers with. Would definitely order from this place for take out! read more

We've been waiting for a Japanese curry house type restaurant. We love Curry Life in San Jose but hate driving there so far away. So doing this as a comparison to either Curry Life or Demiya in San Jose, both if which are very good but slightly different. Came here tonight with my daughter who is obsessed with Chicken Katsu Curry. So for starters, you have to order either the chicken breast or beef Curry, then state whether you want rice, ramen or upon. We always do rice. I saw they have chicken katsu so I asked, instead of thr chicken breast can we swap it out for chicken katsu. They said no, it's not possible. This has never been an issue in any type of Jaoanese restaurant I've ever been to here or in Japan. So then I'm like okayyy, can I order the beef Curry, put the beef on the side, and I'll pay the extra $4 for the katsu as an extra. The order comes and the beef isn't on the aide but rather in the Curry, instead the katsu is on the side. The amount of rice, katsu and beef they give is tiny compared to either Demiya or Curry Life. As for taste, the Curry is good but watery compared to the aforementioned restaurants. My complaint here is the unnecessary complication of having to order either beef or chicken breast where as it should be any main entree or at least allow substitution, and my second complaint is the quality of food or lack there of, again as compared to either Demiya or Curry Life for the same price. read more

Both my significant other and I were wanting soup and he had told me how his sister mentioned about this ramen establishment opening a couple of months ago. We decided to drive down and try it. We got seated immediately and ordered our food and drinks. We got the tempura gyoza and it was pretty good not crispy hard, but still soft and slightly crunchy. Up next we both orders the Hakata white ramen with pork slices you have the option to choose chicken instead of pork. The noodles were not very soft, the broth was not very salty, and the pork slices were soft and does not taste rubbery or hard at all which is a big plus for the both of us.
