We have enjoyed meals in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties at Sushi Sake with great service and meals and were excited to try a new one... not the experience here. My wife's meal came from the kitchen with the wrong rice and her dish had lots of onions which she did not want. My Rainbow roll was good, not exceptional. Gratuity and a 'cost of business' charge appears on your bill, even if you pay by cash, which I did and had to wait 10 minutes for my change. My change was shorted 50 cents because the server said they didn't have coins and they rounded up, in their favor. I suggested they round down, in my favor. This is the 6th Sushi Sake restaurant we have been to -- including the first one where we met the owner. And sadly, this is the only one where we had a very disappointing lunch experience. It would have merited another half star because my husband liked his lunch angel roll. So, in general stick to their sushi here. The lunch menu is limited here -- especially in cooked seafood sushi items. And the few things besides hibachi did not include a soup or salad or any side. I ordered the hibachi shrimp. There was a slight language problem as he thought I wanted steak, but I was able to correct him in time. I realized later that he never asked me which type of rice I wanted. The miso soup was a large bowl served hot with tiny cubes of tofu. It was ok. The shrimp tasted like cold cooked ones that had been reheated. The vegetables were a few small pieces of zucchini and a few pieces of carrots plus a ton of onions (which I don't eat). Surprisingly the fried rice was the best thing on the plate. And I'm not a fan. Served hot. I took some home. There was only one other couple there the entire time we were there. They had a problem as they said they'd been there over an hour and a half and still hadn't received one of their dishes. They decided to take it to go. And still hadn't received it after another 10 more minutes. It's not like there wasn't kitchen staff. I saw two sushi chefs and 2 more people hanging out in the back. When we got our bill, we paid in cash. It took them forever to come up with the correct change. Sorry to find that this location doesn't live up to the Sushi Sake brand. Skip this one! read more

Pricing is out outrageous, you have to be careful as the lunch menu is deceiving, it states white rice or vegetable fried but doesnt tell you getting the fried rice version will cost 8 bucks more on top of the lunch special. Also, if your not done they will come sweep the table if you appear to be busy and not eating, I wasn't done but they had their hands on my plate so I had to let them take it. read more

I had been so excited when this opened near me. I have been to many other locations and loved them. I ordered 3 rolls for pick up yesterday. There was nothing "wrong" with them. They were just fine. All the cocktails we tried were really sweet. Sake bottles were overpriced. Service: It was pretty busy but the staff were working their butts off. Our server seemed to have an issue with one of his patrons, things looked heated but it didn't faze him, he still provided amazing service and made sure we were taken care of. After spending an afternoon celebrating Mardi Gras in downtown Hollywood, we decided to checkout the Sushi Sake restaurants at the end of the block, and that turned out to be a very good choice indeed. The ambiance is nice and private, the service is great, and they had a great selection of sake. I ended getting the flight since I couldn't make a decision, but definitely the unfiltered sake is the best, in my opinion. The food was fresh and delicious. Things I didn't enjoy It took about 8 minutes to get a table when there was 3 servers and a host visible. With only one couple ahead of us. The server's axe body spray was so overpowering you could literally taste him in the air. The rolls are on the smaller side. One roll was $20 Another was $14 Chicken noodles $24 And some how those three things and water equals $74 dollars I should have asked why? I kind of did and he just repeated those same numbers back to me. Then I looked on their website. Placed all those same things in a cart and it was $38. So, somehow eating inside the restaurant doubles the bill. When I called they told me it was an 18% gratuity. The server never mentioned it. The bill was never handed to me. Its a scam! I still left a tip in cash on the table. So he got double tip for his mediocre service Never would I go back. Nor would I recommend it to anyone read more

Beautiful ambiance, good service. Stopped in for lunch and was craving Sushi. The fish/rolls were super fresh however I wish I would have had known the rolls were dosed with hot sauce. The wasabi was not very good, the tuna was good salmon was ok and the white fish was just ok. The pineapple fried rice was bland and the pineapple wasn't ripe so it made it taste bitter. Ambiance is great, definitely an ideal spot to come with a date or group of friends. Paid parking is easy to find during the day, however evenings can be hectic, especially with construction in the area. For those looking for a quick lunch, they have a lunch menu from 11am-3pm Mon-Friday which includes hibachi, rolls, fried rice & noodles. Server was kind and attentive, but there are definitely some improvements to be made in service. The sushi tasted fresh & was well presented. Not for sushi purists but you will find all kinds of unusual/less traditional rolls! TL;DR- Beautiful location, easy day-time parking and food was good. Kid-friendly (during day-time experience). We were the only people in the restaurant and we had to call the server over about three times during our meal to get us things that were obvious, like water refills And getting us small plates for our appetizer. The food was subpar. I consider myself a bit of a sushi snob. We ordered five rolls and I thought every single one of them was just OK. Nothing really stood out or made them special or unique. The appetizer was probably the best part which was the volcano on top of white rice. However, the flavors were wonderful, but there was way too much white rice, sitting at the bottom of the plate for absolutely no reason. Overall, it's edible, but I won't be back. There are far better choices in the area. Ambience is fine, but there was a TV on behind us that was making a lot of obnoxious noise and we wished that it was on mute. Ducked in to check the spot out as they are new to my neighborhood and my barber suggested the Shrimp Rangoon and I wanted to evaluate whether they would be a good addition to my walking food tour downtown. So, here's the breakdown. We started out with excellent service. Friendly, nice smile, responsive. So, well done. The Crab Rangoon (6 pieces for $14.00) was outstanding! They tell me they make them in-house. Tastes like it. They were accompanied by some "dazzle" Sauce (my word) that made them a total hit. Next I had the lunch special Steak Fried Rice for $9.00. It was accompanied by their version of Yum-Yum Sauce (usually an iteration of mayo, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, sugar, paprika, and water). It was tasty. The portion was big. There was not an abundance of steak in the rice. I finished it off with a small bottle of Coke in glass. Nice, though I'm not a fan of $3.50. Excellent decor. Full bar. After receiving a menu, we ordered 2 items and were told it was going to take anywhere from 15-20 minutes. I asked again if we could sit down, and that same lady came up from behind and kept saying "to go, to go, to go" which confused me and my wife as we wanted to dine in. I waited outside while my wife waited inside, she was fed up of waiting after the allotted time had past, and I went inside to wait instead. She was told it was going to be an additional 20 minute wait because they had decided to clean the tables on our time. As soon as I received the food I paid for, I went next door and ordered pizza from Mauro's instead -- which is what everyone should do to not be discriminated by this establishment. However, the food really lacked flavor and was over priced. The steak rice was dry and the steak was very hard to chew. We tried three rolls and threw two of them away.
