Just from the look at sushi station from the out side you would think just another plain looking sushi restaurant, but you enter and it is very welcomeing. I ordered the Albacore Delight, and Yellow Tail Delight, which are basically like yellowtail or the albacore sashimi but it has the fish inside and outside of the rice. I was visiting town from out of the area on business when I stumbled across this place in a strip mall of sorts. From the exterior it doesn't look like anything special and when you enter it is still a bit unassuming. But, man was the sushi good. I ordered the Red Bull Crunch roll and I was very impressed. The fish was super fresh and tasty, nothing smelled fishy. I also tried the Miso soup which was standard but delicious. There is check in offer, here on Yelp, so of course I used that. I ordered the combo dinner. Beef Teriyaki. It was awesome. It came with a 4 piece California roll, shrimp tempura, and a large scoop of rice. Since my first visit I've been back many times. Overall quite good! I had the bento box with the beef. It was THE best beef (out of a bento box in America) that I've had. I usually don't expect much and I get them for the variety of food items, but I was thoroughly impressed. I also enjoyed their crab rangoons. read more

Drove a little out of our way to this restaurant for their Gluten Free selections. They can accommodate just about every roll with their GF sauces. Sushi was great - service was equally outstanding. One of the best sushi restaurants I've been too and it's in our back yard! The quality of the food is awesome. They do all the regular stuff plus a bunch of their own creations which are amazing and for a reasonable price. So my boyfriend and I came here with no intention of leaving a review... we went yesterday and let's just start from the minute we were seated. 1. And what just pushed me over the edge... was brought Luke warm miso soup with cold chunks of tofu.... with a spoon covered in someone else's lipstick.... ew. I was horrified. - I was being generous in the car ride home I gave my boyfriend a 5/10 rating but he said more likely a 2/10 because of the soup and skimpy sushi. I can never eat enough to get my money's worth when having AYCE sushi so I usually come here. They have great happy hour specials and an awesome selection. I am a huge fan of their red bull roll and I am not even really into spicy things. Their service is always very fast and friendly. I always enjoyed my experiences here. The sushi rolls were packed with fresh everything, masago, spicy mayo, avocado... oh all the sushi fixins we know and love. Prices are moderate to high on the fancy rolls. The only thing I do not like is the opening times, their schedule seemed somewhat erratic a while back. So to my astonishment, as im making my way up Van Buren, I see a strip mall with, Wing Stop, a Verizon store, jamba, and 'Sushi Station'? I say to myself, "I must check it out, I haven't had Toro in quite awhile and i need my mercury fix" Then i say: "wait, would a sushi restaurant in Riverside, of all places, even carry toro?" Once again, Riverside proves me wrong, the decor and ambiance of the restaurant was a modern/hip take on a traditional japanese restaurant in Japan and the sushi was VERY fresh and GLAMOROUS, as in G-L-A-M-O-R-OUS, YEAAAAAA The nigiri had the perfect amount of rice and the slices of fish were cut perfectly!! I also tried the seared albacore, hamachi, tuna, and unagi. All were excellent!! The sushi chef, Arnold, told me I had to try the Volcano Roll, and was I astounded at the size...it was as if Kilauea has erupted. A baked scallop roll, wrapped with salmon and hamachi, topped with a special sauce and scallions. Since we are moving far away, we paid one last visit to Sushi Station. Since it was Monday, our normal chef, Ryan, was off, but the owner, Brian was there and he hooked us up with a special Chirashi bowl containing savory mackerel, bluefin, scallops, uni, hamachi, and salmon. All in all, the best Chirashi bowl I have ever had but at $25 a pop, hehe. Went here on a Friday night and sat at the sushi bar. It was fairly busy and the decor/ambiance was nice. Pros: Had a variety of dishes but here are the highlights. Seared salmon with lemon pepper was delicious. Sweet shrimp was set up beautifully on a martini glass and was very tasty. Then they fried the heads and every was lightly crispy, like chips my friend said. The oysters were very fresh and the chef had put on just enough lemon juice and a hint of some clear spicy sauce. My favorite was the seared white tuna which was buttery smooth. For all of you spicy lovers, try the habanero spicy scallops... it was damn spicy and tasty. The slightly older sushi chef we had was very creative with his cuts and sauces. The staff was friendly. Cons: It's towards the side/back of the complex so you might miss it. read more

Had a slew of appetizers and two rolls. The appetizers were good, not amazing but tasty. The first roll was the yellowtail roll which was amazing. Yellowtail on yellowtail. My favorite fish was presented at its best in my opinion. The second roll was the baked scallop roll. It lacked depth of flavor and wasn't as warm as expected. I was a little disappointed that the don't serve AYCE. I've eaten here 3 times now and orders pretty much all the specials and appetizers. Everything is delicious. Their salads, tempura all taste fresh and perfect. I love eating inside because it is set up really clean and nice decor. I even ordered their deserts. One of my favorites is fried green ice cream. I am reminded by my wife that we didn't eat here tonight, which is why I have an additional star rating. However, we arrived tonight around 830 p.m., asking for a table for two. Glancing around, we could see three or four tables that could seat 2 people, and the place was Monday night slow. All we needed was to be seated. The hostess simply said, "we started a waiting list", you will have to wait, and gestured to the small chairs by the entrance. Didn't take our name, so I can only imagine how they work their imaginary wait lists for patrons. Pretty rude to be b###sh#### about having to wait. We waited for five minutes, where we were the only party not seated, and the tables remained empty. That was enough for us. Nice job Sushi Station, you lost a local family that likes sushi, just moved into the neighborhood, but would now rather drive downtown to Pacific Cabin Sushi where the owners seem generally happy and grateful to find room for hungry customers, than to be treated like a moron at your establishment. Again, this is no knock on your food, but your hostess needs some training. We did enjoy Delias grinders however, and look forward to returning there, if we're to tired to drive to Cabin for sushi. read more

Came in last Monday night which happened to be when they have Monday happy hour specials! First I got the appetizers gyozas and crab rangoons. Then, I got nigiri: salmon, seared albacore, Ono, tuna, and ebi which were all delicious. All alcohol was a dollar off, which was a bonus too! So I got Orion and the Sangria which were both amazing :) the service was prompt, everyone is very friendly and very knowledgable about the food. I also tried a recommendation from their chef, Brian, which was live scallop. The entire presentation of it was pretty and the preparation was entertaining to watch him pry the shell open. Our family had a nice family dinner here. My wife enjoyed the dragon roll which was very nicely displayed on an all white plate and neatly presented for consumption. I enjoyed the chicken teriyaki prepared just right. My son had the chicken curry which I try to bite and it was definitely that chicken curry. The manager even came out from behind the counter and asked us how we were enjoying the food. A very personal touch which are family really liked. The best non All-you-can-eat sushi place in Riverside period. Great service and always the best quality fish. If you love salmon, get the sashimi. It is melt in your mouth fish. Go to sushi station on a weekday during lunch for their special or on Sunday for there specials. My personal favorite roll is the rainbow roll. Go here if you want a great sushi experience. I visited this restaurant yesterday, Sunday June 14th at 5pm. I was the first customer as they opened at 5. Halfway through my meal, I noticed a man enter the restaurant in a wheelchair. I didn't pay him much attention until he wheeled himself behind the Sushi Bar as well as into the kitchen. The problem was that the man wasn't wearing any socks or shoes. I asked the waitress who the man was and she informed me that he is the restaurant owner. I expressed that it is a health violation to be barefoot in a kitchen of a restaurant. The waitress acknowledged that the behavior was odd and all she offered was her apology and said she would inform the owner of my dissatisfaction. I'm not sure if she actually relayed the message. However, the food was marginal at best and I'll never visit this restaurant again. read more
